  4. Hi bros out there, Anyone have test drive this car. Actually last week was a good buy for TC dropped the price to S$68K for a 1.6Ex saloon. Managed to squeeze leather seats, reverse sensor, central locking, 15" sport rims too.u guys think is a good bargain compared with Corolla Altis with is abt S$74k which is thai made? Test drive experience, well quite satisfied. Noticed the feel is heavier, more steady in terms of handling. Even managed to run over the road humps without stopping to test the suspension. But then i heard feedback about its under powered specifications? Is it true? any test drive experience to share? What abt the new CVTC engine with E-throttle? any idea it help in fuel economy, and what is the km/l? Does fuel magnet helps? or the ground cable?

  7. You guys have any idea what is the fuel consumption of the new sunny? Went down to the showroom and was told that the CVTC engine is more fuel efficient. Cliamed to be abt 12-13km/L. Not sure whether this is true? But i would be glad if this is a reality. So guys pls share if you drive this car and comments on its performance and other stuffs as well... Know Tan Chong Motors offer some kits to enhance fuel efficiency. You guys know what are they? Effective and the cost? Note: Heard that next year 04', there will be a complete New Sunny? 15. Nissan Micra R (ie March Type R) Despite its excellent build quality, modern styling and capable driving manners, even Nissan will admit that the average age of a Micra owner is much higher than that of most of its supermini rivals. So how could the marque shake off the blue-rinse image and attract younger buyers? By producing a mad 265bhp version, of course... While the Micra R retains the friendly shape, its low stance, wide wheelarches and huge rear wing set it apart. But the biggest surprise lies under the bonnet, where all you will find is a fuel tank and radiator. You'll have to look through the rear screen to spot the engine. Built by Ray Mallock - the British engineering concern that ran Nissan's BTCC campaigns in the late Nineties - the Micra R is fitted with a detuned version of a 2.0-litre touring car powerplant and puts out 265bhp via a six-speed sequential gearbox to the rear wheels. All this has been achieved by using lots of bits from the Nissan parts bin. So the R has Almera chassis components, mated to racing-spec Brembo brakes and a Hewland gearbox. Inside, the Micra features a welded roll cage making it 30 per cent stiffer than the standard car, plus racing seats and a tall gearlever. Amazingly, this machine is fully road legal, and it still retains central locking, electric windows and three cup-holders! Once you strap yourself into the driver's seat, though, it's very different from other Micras. The standard dash is filled with a digital instrument panel and you have to push a big red button to fire the engine. With the powerplant behind you, the cabin fills with noise. Select first and the gearbox whine adds to the racket. Short ratios see the 7,750rpm red line arrive fast, but you can shift up with a pull of the lever. You don't even need to use the clutch - a co-ordinated throttle lift will do. Going into corners at the test track, the non-servoed brakes need a shove, but turn-in is sharp. The short wheelbase and soft rear suspension make slides easy, yet the R is forgiving. For road driving, the set-up isn't too stiff and, with 18-inch tyres, the Nissan is more akin to a tarmac rally car than a circuit racer. And while the R is 40mm lower than a standard Micra, its exhaust and suspension arms are no closer to the road - so speed bumps will be fine. Can you buy one? At the moment, it's a one-off, but Nissan must be tempted to produce it after seeing how Renault boosted the Clio's image with the V6. Watch this space, whatever your age.
  16. Hi all, A general question: How often should I service my Nissan Sunny/CAR? I have been told that cars should be serviced every 10,000km or 6 months. Is this figure correct? Has anyone out there stretched this figure to save some money and hassle?? Regards, Andrew
  17. http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_nissan_dunehawk-1.jpg http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_nissan_dunehawk-2.jpg The Dunehawk is Nissan's solution to matching full MPV versatility with the dynamic attributes of a genuine SUV. Combining eye-catching lines with thoughtful features and genuine practicality, Dunehawk paves the way for Nissan's 4x4 future. Dunehawk has genuine off-road ability thanks to its rugged chassis, ground clearance and advanced, electronically controlled ALL-Mode 4x4 system. It also has an exceptionally roomy interior full of useful features. The rugged ladder frame chassis, short front and rear overhangs and dramatic 20-inch wheels allow Dunehawk to cross difficult terrain with ease. The ladder frame also provides the additional strength and rigidity which is essential for towing performance. But Dunehawk has far greater depth than a typical 4x4. Taking its lead from the highly acclaimed Nissan X-TRAIL, Dunehawk is just as at home on road as it is off the beaten track. It has been designed to perform and handle as well as a conventional car and has a luxuriously comfortable interior. Styling Dunehawk's bold and imposing design features smooth surfaces with iconic, angled accents. The body adopts a cylindrical design theme, with gently curving body sides that are narrower at roof and chassis level and wider at the body belt-line. This design solution helps create a feeling of strength while giving greater interior width where its needed most - at elbow level. The cylindrical theme is repeated at the tailgate, on the extended wheel arch blisters and on interior fittings. Contrasts can be found in the striking side window graphic, with its heavily angled C-pillar separating the deeper door glass from the shallower rear window, and in the iconic Nissan 4x4 front grille design with its balanced angle strut motif which is set off by the confident Nissan logo. There are neither door handles nor door mirrors to disrupt the Dunehawk's surfaces. The doors are opened electrically by brushing a pad on the flanks of the Dunehawk, while rear facing cameras with pop up screens at either end of the dashboard take care of what's happening behind. Interior Inside, the cockpit is dominated by an angular theme with a T-bone centre console which houses all the vital driving information systems, including a screen showing critical real-time traction information via sensors on all four wheels and within the ALL-Mode 4x4 system. Nissan's pioneering interactive N-Form dashboard has also been adopted and reveals how it could function in the future. The cylindrical dashboard incorporates a compass, altimeter and inclinometer - all highly useful instruments for serious off-road work. Practical elements include ample storage space with deep bins on the doors and side panels as well as an aircraft-style overhead console which runs centrally for the full length of the roof and incorporates luggage lockers. On either side of the console, the roof is glazed to help create an airy interior ambience - a styling feature reminiscent of Nissan's C-MPV Evalia concept car, shown at the Geneva show earlier this year. The console also houses ventilation outlets and a DVD screen for rear seat entertainment. Dunehawk's interior takes a quality approach. Cream leather panels and contoured seats contrast with covered active pad mid brown leather panels to signify human contact areas such as the steering wheel while the dark brown hard wearing carpet is developed to withstand all of the wear of outdoor activities. Discreet waterfall lighting cascades from the roof, from underneath the door fittings and from under the rear storage bins to bathe the interior with a subtle ambient glow. Story by Nissan

  19. Hi all Newbie 'pariah' plate driver here, I know this sounds stupid. But does anyone out there know where to find a site with pics dedicated to nissan sunny maintenance? (Googled and yahooed thru the net but found nothing.... ) Esp those before 1994. And most imptly, need to find where the fuel line is so I can strap on those neodymium magnets. Been literally digging thru the area around the carbs but found nothing.... Thanks in advance
  20. Just came back Nissan showroom to have a look at the new Sunny. I would prefer it over the Corolla (personal preference so no flames please), Lancer and similar Japanese 1.6 cars (except Scooby which holds a special place in my heart ). I think it has taken on a more conti feel to the car which suits me just fine. Too lazy to scan the photos from the brochure but here's some specs. Engine: QG16DE (DOHC, 16v, 4cyc, inline) Max Power: 81kW/6000rpm or 110ps/6000rpm Max Torque: 148Nm/4000rpm or 15.1kg-m/4000rpm Curb Weight: 1110/1140/1145 for the 3 flavors (below) Rubber: 185/65R15 3 flavors of the car: EX Saloon, Super Saloon and Luxury Edition. Here's the difference (the ones I can see). Super Saloon over EX Saloon - Twin airbags (EX only 1) - Leather (EX can retrofit for 300 bucks extra) - Sports rims - Fog lamps Luxury over Super Saloon - Mercedes style signal lights on side view mirrors - Hand brakes is MPV style (step kind) - Side turn signal lamps - Rear armrest with cup holders - Overhead console box - Fron cup holders Safety also quite impressive. Triple A safety ratings. ABS, BA, EBD standard. Pricing is decent but I think lower is better (don't we all) Disclaimer: FYI, I'm not Nissan SE! Just sharing only.
  21. anyone changed your ride and got a used boss kit from your '94 sunny (B14)? i am looking for a used one can already.
  22. Hi Guys, Ever came across this local automotive magazine ad. They do conversion of headlights for nissan sunny to those BMW type headlights. Has anyone heard of this ?
  23. Hi Chaps, would like to gather some info on warranty issues. I had previously returned to TC's service centre (Autolution in TP) for a check on some funny noise coming from the underneath of my VIP (car is under 3years old). Even before checking, the fella at the workshop was very fast to point out that i did not carry out my servicings at Autolutn and the warranty is voided. i demanded to see the clause which says 'warranty is voided' if i do not carry out my servicing there. The bugger pointed to a line saying something like 'failure in proper maintenance... warranty will be voided' (cant remember the lines, but it never says maintenance by authorised dealer). I replied by saying that I did ample and proper maintenancen at Pro-serv and I have the papers to prove it. I was brushed off instantly. Failing to accept his 'explanation', I approached the sales office. Popped them the same question and guess what... the sales bimbo cheerfully repied "Sorry, I'm not sure." "Wah lan eh!!!" I thought to myself So, can fellow MCFers pls enlighten me on the 'warrant void' issue??? Cheers!
