  2. As above to compliment our top neighbourhood brands of Honda, Kia, Toyota
  3. Ever since I swopped my Toyota for the Kia Koup, I heard many different comments. The comments usually come in unison, "Nice car, bro, Wah, sport car lei, how much you buy, Wah, Chio lei" etc After the initial praises on the appearance of the car, they usually come with a sucker punch with a second follow up question, " Eh, Kia ar? Kia good meh? Why change Toyota to Kia" etc... I even have a few pple telling me that "Kia very lousy one lei, Kia car not good lei, Kia cars is known to be cheap but their spare parts is expensive" I also have one telling me "I would rather buy Civic with that amount of money spend on Kia" All this negative comments really override the praises they have sung a few seconds ago and it came bitting me where it hurts most. At times, I will think, "Did I really make the wrong choice for choosing Kia or should I have use the money to buy a Civic" However I will usually argued back saying "You all got the wrong perception on Kia already. Kia is getting better and better, In fact Kia has the second or third highest sales over the past few months, only losing out to Toyota, They will get better, in fact their cars are getting nicer and nicer" I know these are just some of the lame rebuttal in defence of Kia but they seems to know that I was offended by their remark and stay silence. I just want to know how good are Kia nowaday as comapred to other Jap car manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Nissian etc... At least I can have better ammunition to defend against all critics. Do pple generally go for Kia because it is a low budget car? Kia managed to sell their car at such a low price because their hardwares (engine, performance etc) are not as good as those Japanese car manufacturers? Kia's OMV are generally much lower than most jap car manufacturer. (The last time I checked, Honda Civic 1.6M's OMV is arnd $22k while Kia forte Koup 2.0 is only arnd $16k, a whopping $6k difference! and at different cc as well) Why it is so? What lies ahead for Kia in order to push their reputation up against those jap car manufacturer? I also observed that many pple changed the KIA badge into something else almost immediately they have received their car. Inferiority? Or purely for aesthetic purposes? (Well, to be frank, after one or two unkind remarks, I also sought to debadging it and replace it with something else) If we are ashame of owning Kia car, then how do we expect other pple who are driving Jap car to be convinced that Kia cars is actually good and as competitive as other brand of cars? Comments pls

  8. HIGH certificate of entitlement (COE) prices are putting the brakes on off-peak car (OPC) sales, even as they were starting to take off after revisions were made recently to make such cars more popular with motorists. Now that car prices are in the alpine territory, the $17,000 tax rebate for buying an off-peak car no longer looks so attractive. First-quarter figures from the Land Transport Authority show a noticeable drop in new registrations of off-peak cars, which can be driven without a fee on weekends and between 7pm and 7am on weekdays. In the first three months of the year, a total of 1,639 new vehicles were put on the road, versus 2,160 in the same time last year and 2,637 in 2008. Because COE premiums, and consequently car prices, have soared in recent months, motor traders said the $17,000 rebate now represents a smaller saving. This has either turned off would-be buyers, or priced them out. Said Mr Teo Hock Seng, managing director of Hyundai agent Komoco Motors: 'A $17,000 saving on a $70,000 car is very different if the car was $35,000.' The cars have also simply become less affordable, rising in price by at least $20,000 in the last year. An entry-level off-peak car costs about $40,000 now. Mr Albert Pang, managing director of Chevrolet dealer Alpine Motors, said: 'When OPCs were about $20,000-plus, customers with monthly incomes of $1,000-plus could enter the market. Now, this group is absent.'
  9. just wanna get this off my mind and share with everyone: Last week i was watching an inter-primary school competition on channel 8. It was a competition to see which team could best form sentences using Chinese idioms, and with Guo Liang being the host. If i recalled correctly, each team consisted of 4 students. But what struck me most was that it was seemingly obvious that in each team, at least 2 or more students were from China. So what type of competition was this? If i was a true born S'porean, and perhaps come from English speaking family, studied mandarin very hard to compete in this, only to come to this competition to kena 'chiek' by pure-bred China students, i won't even bother competing. I will just simply ask the judge to give them the winning prize. If the competition was going to be so one-sided, who's gonna watch? stupid competition, stupid program. Food for thought - Li Jia Wei was a good ping pong player, came here, became the best and felt good. But back in China, she won't be no. 1. Did these China students come here to 'win' our locals in Chinese language competition, and start feeling no. 1?
  10. From time to time will come across some news kids got smack by teacher in school parents will go KPKB with the principal and demand explanations. 11. It's not easy to find good manual car wash nowadays.. I have been to several ones trying to see if any I can really feel satisfied after the wash.. still havent found any. Yeah some will tell me want it clean wash myself la.. Just 2 examples for reference.. maybe u wanna avoid these: 1. Bedok North Road SPC.. Said to be snow wash.. sprayed from rear.. and the foam didnt even reached the bonnet.. And prior to that, no spraying away the surface dirt n dust. They splashed a bucket of water. Purpose is to spray away the dust or sand particles so that wont end up scratching the car. And so they started to rubba my car aft spraying foam. No foam on the bonnet, so they pushed all the foam from rubba the roof to the windscreen and bonnet. Before I know it, the guy asked my to move forward.. huh??? my front bumper havent rubba rubba. So started spraying.. Within a min asked me to drive out for wiping dry. I drove to drying area, came out.. WOW! foam on the front bumper. The china man wiped.. like swinging the cloth on the surface. Very fast.. told me ok. I looked at him, directed his sights to the rear bumer.. knn rear bumper never wipe dry said ok.. He swung his cloth across.. and said ok.. knn.. I paid and left. 2. Tampines SPC opposite The Tropica.. Paid before they started.. This one sprayed alot of water to wash away.. Sprayed foam also till windscreen.. Probably the hose too short for all manual car wash huh.. They started rubba.. Then signalled ok.. to drive forward to spray the away the foam. Knn.. front bumper and grill also never clean.. They bascially rely on spraying away the foam in attempts to spray away the dirt. After spraying, drove out to wipe dry area. Went into the minimart to get some stuff, came back they're gone.. I saw water flowing down on windscreen. They did wipe, but probably never wringe the cloth. I got it on the wiper.. Wow.. the water swept aside by the wipers is more than what i would encounter on a drizzling day.. The search for a better manual car wash continues.. Any recommendations from anyone? Pls.. dun tell me wash myself.. I am talking abt standard of manual car wash..
  12. So much so that i cant even see the front clearly due to their high beam glaring in my eyes reflected by my mirrors. Damn irritating.
  13. Does anyone here subscribe to car magazine? What will be the main factor that will make you subscribe to a year of magazine. Please do let me have your feedback as I am trying to do a market research now for this topic. Thanks
  14. Could not help myself in posting this topic, after the news of a man being 'tortured' alive ( slapped and hit in the groin???) persumbly by a Sinkie woman made 'headline' news. This is not new. As a matter of fact, the Sinkie men had it coming..long before this made news. Searching for foreign brides as they were hopeless in 'handling' the local variety, all points to the signal, that not only are they pathetic but silly in getting themselve 'done-in' later by the foreign variety as well. Numerous cases of PRC, Viet and others ex-brides, all took it as a opportunity to 'dig gold' in these pathetic men and then 'run road'. Maybe the fact that the ever powerful Women Charter had these men all 'brain' dead, as to how to have some honour and pride left, when they do need to handle their women! Some being losers in any relationship, these men would seek other sorts of gratifications (Geyland..etc) to 'help' restore some manly pride to their bruised ego. If you are one of those who fits the description here or thereabout, I think it will be appropriate for me to kindly ask you to 'jump in front of a train' ( not the MRT cos it'll inconvience others) or from a tall building. Cos to be a man...a proper man ( no gay here please)...one should not gravitate to such a level as displayed by the man being featured in the news.
  15. I'm comparing my driving road condition versus last year, same route (novena-thomson-braddell-PIE-changi), I notice there's a significant increase on the numbers of cars plying on the road these days, so many cars and of cos lead to more road hoggers, make driving really hell......
  16. saw a young couple in the lift today and they were kissing passionately.they stop while they saw me outside the lift .as we know ,almost all the lifts have been upgraded(see through).so when i think back,i still prefer those older lifts, coz to me,most of my ex girlfrens and i have a great time.as we were still young, lifts are the best place to have a kissing session .and the best,if she stay the higher the storey, the better it is.juz wonder if some forummers can share what u did in those old lifts.
  17. Last time when I am studying there is no such thing like traffic jam outside school or early morning traffic jam cos we go to school ourselves. Even those whom stay far away will wake up at 5:30am and catch the first bus to school. But nowadays even stay near near also must parent fetch. Why can't they just let their kid go school themselves? Next time I got kids I also wun fetch them to school. Last time go to school I need to wake up early, grow up liao if I still have to wake up early accompany my kid to school then very stupid right. Whole life got to wake up early then life is meaningless. Haizz
  18. dunno what to say, noticed that many drivers esp. ladies, aunties, and those p platers, drive super slow and then turn on high beam and every single mother light in their car including fog lights and then drive at a super slow speed. the moment you ut in front of them, you see the high beam right in your eyes. as usual, i just go behind them and turn on my high beam and slowly follow them as far as i can, keeping a 4-5 car distance to let them enjoy. why so selfish? light up the whole damn car like christmas tree, drive so slow. dun you ppl find it so common nowadays? dun wanna start about those taxi drivers who purposely adjust their lights so 1 side high beam, the other side dipped. all these selfish cbs.
  19. I know the public transport system is getting pretty jammed nowadays but when has it been getting any better anyway! But more and more ppl ( involving Sillyporeans all the time) are getting into arguments and fights on public transportation....similiarly there are also just as many incidents involving drivers of other vehicles on the roads too! I think the peasants are getting nowhere near WORLD CLASS, as a matter of fact they are getting LOW CLASS! What do you think? http://multimedia.asiaone.com/Multimedia/V...81124-5062.html
  20. Just look at MCF... Jokers are more and more.... What the hell have this world become to??? 21. Car alarm started acting weird and cranking was taking much longer than usual, had the stock 45Ah battery checked this afternoon and was told its dying, attached is the test result. Decided to purchase a new battery as I did not want to be stranded by a dead battery. The options given to me were: 1) Bosch Silver 62Ah, made in Germany, 1yr warranty @ $160 2) Amaron GO 60Ah, made in India, 6mths warranty @ $130 Was at the prices but mech told me prices are increasing due to lead shortage; remembered reading such an article in ST as well. Lunch break was almost over and I decided on the Bosch, hope it will last at least 2 years. Stock battery died after 17 mths, last 55Ah MF Panasonic in the previous car only cost $60.

  23. Following the news that a Malaysia born turned Sillypore citizen 2LT Kok ( coming from a average lower income family) willingly sacrifice his life to save a Sillypore born green horn cxck-up recruit during a grenade throwing exercise... Would a true bred Sillypore born 2LT ( with a bright future ahead, going to the U after NSF) done the same , in the split of a moment?
