  3. Hi all, Viewed a second hand VW Golf over the weekend, car condition is generally good, price is reasonable and its still under warranty from VW Singapore. Was checking out the vehicle's details at onemotoring and the engine code caught my attention, its LTA******* The other models that I viewed previously all started with CAXB******* The car and engine bay looks stock, is the difference in engine code something to be wary of? Thanks.

  5. The number of COEs from the two announcements don't tally. I wonder why? For example in earlier announcement, Cat A is 786/mth, in the announcement this morning it is 842/mth. The bigger question is...how does the Taxi COEs fit in the entire scheme of things now that they do not need to participate in the 3 days bidding process. 1,670 COEs available for first open bidding exercise in AugustPosted: 03 August 2012 0956 hrs SINGAPORE: Details for the first open bidding exercise for Certificates of Entitlement in August 2012 are out. The total quota available for this tender is 1,670. There will be 421 COEs for Category A cars (1,600cc and below), 350 COEs for Category B (1,601cc and above) and 456 for Category D (Motorcycles). 183 COEs will be available for Category E (Open Category) and 183 for Category C (Goods Vehicles and Buses). The tender opens on Monday, August 6 at noon, and closes Wednesday, August 8 at 4pm. -CNA/ac Nearly 13% fewer COEs for next 6 monthsBy Wayne Chan, Joanne Chan | Posted: 12 July 2012 1728 hrs SINGAPORE: A total of 19,351 Certificates of Entitlement (COE) will be made available between August this year and January 2013. This is a cut of 2,809 or 12.7 per cent from the 22,160 certificates available in the previous six-month period from February to July 2012. The cut comes mainly from the small cars category, where the quota will see a drop of 36.6 per cent. The category will now have a monthly quota of just 786 certificates, down from 1,239 between February and July this year. The COE quota for the open category also dropped significantly. It will now have a quota of 485, a 21.3 per cent drop from the previous six-month period. The COE quota for big cars will be 701 per month. This is comparable to the monthly quota of 699 between February and July 2012. For goods vehicles and buses, the COE quota has been increased to 360 per month, a 12.85 per cent increase from the previous six-month period. There will also be more monthly COEs for motorcycles, at 894 - up from 820 in the previous six-month period.
  6. Few years ago, LTA had suggested and look into the ideal for allowing 'Private' number to be registered on S'pore road. It was widely reported in the press. What happen to these proposal ? Another 'Moth-ball' project .....
  7. Hi anyone knows contact to make complaints to Dell? Bought Dell parts from them to repair my laptop n even paid for onsite servicing but the person never came.
  8. I don't know whether you guys notice it or not. The LTA press release they may have forgot to include a number in the factsheet. The average annual milleage for a 2 shift taxi should be more than 1 shift taxi right. So why is it 13,65 km for 2 shift vs 9,129 km for 1 shift taxi? Or is it my eyes acting up? http://app.lta.gov.sg/corp_press_content.a...0zg489zmggadp4u

  10. Hi all, I saw the Indonesian cars plate machiam quite unique. Some of their number plates are actually boxed in kind. Imagine, your number plate is being framed up like a picture frame . Got people do this in Singapore? Regards,
  11. Do you all find that "most" drivers who choose yellow number plates tend to be egoistically challenged? They want to show off but are just not there yet? Just my observations in people choices and the psychology.
  12. Heard that Singapore started a system where we can register our phone number so that telemarketer cannot call or SMS their advertisement. Anyone knows about this? Where to register?
  13. Guys, As per thread, how much would u think is a reasonable bid for the number 828?
  14. I attended a course on retirement/investments planning yesterday and they gave me a calculator to punch in some numbers to show how much you need at the age you retire. The numbers are shocking. Let's say if you are 35 and intend to retire at 55, assuming an inflation rate of 4%, the numbers can hit 2.5 million or more. Unlike the rest of you here, I don't think I can even hit 1 million, and I think that 1 million is a good figure to aim for first as 2.5 million is just impossible in my lifetime. Any of you can share how you hit your first million so that a young guy like me can learn? Thank you.
  15. does any one know the phone number to Orchard Atrium car park? I wan to make a complaint... thanks
  16. I have an existing number plate, if some one wants to buy it, do i get a replacement reg number from LTA, does it costs to get the replacement number? I know the buyer will bear the transfer fees $321 of my old number. Searched on LTA's website, FAQ, such situation on veh number swaping not stated.
  17. I went for VITAS just now to check on my aftermarket exhaust and they found out that my engine number was wrong - 2 of the digits were jumbled up. I've been referred to LTA. Anyone knows what will happen next?

  21. http://news.yahoo.com/second-hand-car-sale...-081316301.html Conversion Hub and sgCarMart Connect today announced the results of an industry study based on a survey of 1,200 consumers and the latest Land Transport Authority (LTA) figures. Conducted in early January 2012, the study highlights changing trends and consumer behavior in the Singapore automotive industry. Singapore, Singapore (PRWEB) January 27, 2012 Buyers are driving second-hand cars ownership transfers and online car listings to the highest figure since 2000. Tight supply of certificates of entitlement (COEs) makes new cars too expensive in Singapore, which already has the world
  22. Now Singapore can have this type of license plate number with dash and no S in front and 2 alphabet behind? Must bid?
