  1. Home > Breaking News > Singapore > Story Dec 20, 2009 4 ministers' sons SAF officers By Terrence Voon Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean (centre) pinning the rank epaulette on his son Eng Siang's uniform yesterday, while his wife Poh Yim looks on. -- ST PHOTOS: CAROLINE CHIA He was there as the reviewing officer presiding over the commissioning parade for new Singapore Armed Forces officers yesterday. He was also there as a proud parent. And once his official duties were over, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean joined hundreds of other parents in congratulating their sons' on their achievements. Mr Teo's son, Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Teo Eng Siang, was among the 504 graduating cadets who received their commissions yesterday, in a ceremony that is held four times a year after 38 weeks of rigorous training. Mr Teo was not the only Cabinet member at Saturday's parade at Safti Military Institute in Jurong. Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan, and Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Swee Say were also there. 2. Just attended a low-key ICT. Served a number of ICTs liao, mostly low-key ones. Now almost 40 years old. Is it true that by 40, if you have not completed the ICT requirements of 7 high and 3 low, then kena MR still? I hear differing comments. Some say when reach 40, automatic MR liao. Hmm... Anyone can share experience?
  3. ...for comforter. My gf and I wanted to give a set of bedsheet stuff (pillows, bedsheet, comforter, etc) to my gf's sister. Her sister and her bf ride a bike so they are unable to carry them home, instead we will deliver them to their home in my car. Anyway they decided to go JB pump petrol and makan supper, so we decided to go there with them, before coming back to SG to pass them the bedsheet stuff. At the JB custom, 2 officers ya ya, keep asking me what the stuff in the cars are. We told them its a set of bedsheet, comforter, and pillows to give away. One of them ask if they are expensive... I told them we got it for free and we are going to give it away. We even open the plastic bags to show them. He then said we have to pay TAX... he even ask the other guy if pillows need to be taxed. We told them we have no idea these things need to be taxed, and said we are going to bring them back to SG anyway, they can check again when we are back. They said, we will be coming back on another side, and they won't be there... we sort of have some ideas what they really want. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ What's ridiculous is that, they said we need to be taxed $60 but they discount me, ask me pay $50. I wanted to give them $20 since I don't want trouble, but my gf told the officers "we got no money, we dunno need to pay tax, so we just go back SG now lor, but how to u-turn back?" The officers then say... "er nvm, give u warning first, next time need to pay ya"... Then we just drove off. What a joke. Lok-kok car also they want to aim... times are really bad, I guess.
  4. All MCFers, I start this thread anew bcos I want to hv a focused discussion. Think many of us had enuf of Sh$t from these arse-hols. Tinted windows, unstamped passports, etc etc. Now what can we do. How about installing some camera device in our cars or such to video some of their actions with audio conversation. And then post them worldwide.
  5. recently, any1 encounter that M custom officers asking whether u need to change their currency? After giving the S$, there isnt any currency in return. if u keep waiting, officer will give u a stack of white card. if u persist waiting, a bigger stack of white card will be given. till the car behind u ...horning n u hv no choice but proceed w/o getting your wanted currency.
