Supermarket chain NTUC FairPrice said an image circulating on the Internet, of its air-flown fresh pork bearing a 'halal' sticker, is an insensitive hoax in poor taste. A mischievous hoax of a tampered packaging of NTUC FairPrice fresh pork carrying a halal certification mark has resurfaced on Facebook recently, after more than six years. NTUC FairPrice said it is both insensitive and done in poor taste. The image started circulating on the Internet in 2007. FairPrice CEO, Mr Seah Kian Peng, said it is mindful of the serious religious implications of the matter and regards this as a wilful act of mischief, and had lodged a police report then. Mr Seah assured the public that the original packaging of Pasar Fresh Pork does not carry the halal sticker from the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS). He said as with all nutritional and product information for food items, FairPrice takes great care in ensuring the information printed is accurate and certified. Mr Seah urged the public not to circulate the image any further, so as to avoid any unnecessary confusion or offence. Anyone with queries can contact the FairPrice customer hotline at 6552 2722 or email [email protected]. 4. Hi, Im planning on a Road trip this coming holiday season to KL. Has anyone booked rooms via booking.com? I find their rates are very attractive for e.g: 3 nights at The Gardens in Midvalley is around S$390 whereas on asiaroom.com or elsewhere it is close to S$470. Anyone with experience booking through them?
  5. There is a heated discussion on hardwarezone about an online petition started by a Singaporean (?) who said that Muslims in Singapore are forced to remove the Hijab in certain occupations. But as the debate rages on, some sharp-eyed netters doubted the integrity of the online petition because the petition numbers can be inflated artificially by repetitious entries. Do any governments in the world or any corporations in the world give a flying fark about online petitions? Shouldn't a real petition should be signed physically with name and NRIC on paper and then hand delivered to the parties concerned? Online petitions cheapen the cause of petitions. I don't want to embed any picture here for sensitivity reasons. If you want to see, click this link to see => http://i.imgur.com/PRcd0Q1.jpg

  11. Hi everyone, Since Radx started on the Black Friday sales topic, it spurred me to start this thread. Some time back, as I was listening to Kiss 92 program, there was a topic about buying reasonably cheap clothings online but I didn't catch the site name. So, how about everyone contribute here what's good site out there to buy? For me, so far I've bought Gnc stuff from US site. Price is really cheaper than shops here. Could be 50% cheaper.
  12. http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/...umours-20120922 By Rachel Chang In a bid to cut through the swirl of rumour and distortion online, the Government has quietly launched a few "myth busting" initiatives. The first is a new section on its www.gov.sg website called "Factually". Since May, it has collected a series of primers on hot topics like the national reserves, certificates of entitlement and procurement processes. They aim to give bite-sized answers to questions that have arisen over controversial decisions, such as the one in March to give $1.1 billion to bus operators to ramp up services. Taking things one step further, the Housing Board (HDB) two weeks ago started a new website known as HDB Speaks. A first for government agencies here, its sole purpose is to address topics of controversy, like the affordability of resale HDB flats. One was recently been sold for more than $1 million. Replete with bright graphics and written in a conversational style, it is a far cry from HDB's more sober main website, and aims to be a place where people can "get the facts on the myths about HDB" - its tagline. Both initiatives are works-in- progress, said the agencies in charge.
  13. Must say that I am pretty surprise reading this - Netizens question upgrading lucky draw Quite a stupid move in my opinion. PAP ties upgrading to electoral votes, WP ties lucky draw to upgrading votes.

  15. Watch online as an asteroid passes Earth Michael Bakich Wed, Sep 12 2012 3:31 PM On August 26, the Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona discovered a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid (PHA) that now has the designation 2012 QG42. This space rock measures approximately 1,000 feet (300 meters) across. Astronomers classify any asteroid as a PHA if it has a diameter greater than 100 meters and approaches to within 0.05 astronomical units (4.65 million miles [7.5 million kilometers]) of Earth. One astronomical unit equals the average Earth-Sun distance, about 93 million miles (149.7 million km). This asteroid meets both criteria for being a PHA because on September 14 at 5h10m UT (9:10 a.m. EDT), it will pass 1.74 million miles (2.8 million km) from Earth. That distance equates to only 7.43 times the average distance between our planet and the Moon. During the next few days of its near-Earth encounter, 2012 QG42 will brighten enough so that amateur astronomers can spot it through 10-inch or larger telescopes from a dark site. But you may not have that size scope or be able to get to a proper location. Never fear! The Internet is here. The Virtual Telescope Project 2.0 will host a free, real-time online broadcast of the asteroid starting today (September 12) at 22h UT (September 13 at 2 a.m. EDT). Members will be imaging the asteroid through a 17-inch telescope. To view the passage, just log in to the Project

  21. From Andrew Kok-Kin Lim Jul 16 I refer to the letter "Can HDB step up enforcement?" (July 13). The Housing and Development Board would have the means if it lists all authorised sublet flats in a public database online. A S$500 reward should be given to anyone who reports unauthorised subletting, to be paid by the offender. The HDB should also increase the penalty for first-time offenders to the equivalent of six months of rent. If it cannot do this, it can outsource the job. This was first posted as a comment at www.todayonline.com/voices Quote from today online, so what do you guys think?

  24. http://www.brisk-sparkplug.com/ I think the distributorship is in Malaysia which explains the RM currency. The regular plugs are only available in bulk orders. The Pt and racing ones can be ordered individually. However, I am not convinced about the premium plugs. How can the spark jump on all directions? Even in mult-ground electrodes, only one ground is preferred by the spark. Electricity does have a mind of its own. The mind of the shortest path.
