  6. I watch a documentary on cable and it's about WW II events. In one part, they were talking about how Germans attempted to march into Russia, Stalingrad, to invade Russia. At that time, Germans were mighty in their equipments and hardwares. i was shocked to learned from the documentary that the Russians started to train dogs to be like modern-day terrorists. They will train the dog to find food under tanks and vehicles, then they will starve the dogs to hunger. Then they stapped bombs to the dogs' bodies and they lie in ambush for the Germans tanks to come. Once the tanks are in sight, they will release the dog, the dog will run towards the tank, and the bombs will be ignited; disabling the tank, and the poor dog is blown to pieces. I search through internet and wiki also mentioned this technique used by the Russians http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-tank_dog So now, we cannot blame the Chinese for being cruel by eating dog meat, the bloody ang mo Russians are far worse than them. The bloody Americans also tried to use dogs during war, to bring bombs to the enemy's bunkers...........
  7. Extract from autozine.org . Just like we have new water for independence, the Israelis are really going to cut their dependency on oil. Interesting what a smart guy with a wise government, who is not just looking to raising their own paycheck, can do. -------------------- The world's largest scale application of electric cars is going to take place in Israel. For national security reasons, Israeli government has long been pursuing alternative energy to oil because oil price is heavily dependent on its enemy Arabia countries. One of the biggest headache was how to turn the 2 million cars on its roads to run on electricity. Electric cars have been notorious for high purchasing price and long recharging time. Moreover, so far no countries are willing to invest substantial money to build the necessary infrastructure - countless of recharging stations covering all over the country. However, a breakthrough is finally achieved by the cooperation of the Israeli government, Shai Agassi and Renault-Nissan. The idea was originated by Shai Agassi, an Israeli software entrepreneur. Since he quit German software giant SAP, Agassi became an environmental activist. He realized that, to shorten the recharging time by only improving battery technology is not enough. The public wants recharge to be done in a few minutes, just like they get refill in petrol stations. Agassi therefore suggested, instead of really recharge the battery, the recharge station should replace the discharged battery with a fresh battery. This can be done in a few minutes time. Therefore the drivers no longer need to recharge the car overnight by themselves or worry of running out of electricity during driving. Everything works like driving a conventional car. The depleted battery will be recharged to full in the stations and installed into another car. Recharge will take place at late night to enjoy lower electricity rate. .......... To drive the electric car program, Israeli government will offer tax incentives on the electric cars and raise the tax for other cars. It is also building 200MW of regenerative power plants (wind power and solar power) to provide the electricity necessary. If the plan goes right, hopefully by 2020 petroleum cars will be history on Israeli roads.

  10. So if I my desire is to have anyone except TT elected, I should throw my support behind TCB? If not, most likely scenario, give or take a few percentage points: TT 38% TCB 25% TJS 22% TKL 15% Tio boh?
  11. if someone as ordinary as me knows the chances of TJS to garner more votes is to have only 1 non-PAP linked candidate, people like CSM should already be their chief campaign and strategist. My guess: TKL will withdraw too bad, Singapore Pool dun have odds on this,
  12. Man stabs ex-colleague over "stupid" remark http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1147128/1/.html A former kitchen assistant has been ordered by a district court to perform 200 hours of community service for stabbing an ex-colleague at a Resorts World Sentosa eatery on February 11. Wong Phee Hon, 58, stabbed Mr Vong Wah Lee, 27, in the stomach in the kitchen of Ho Yeh Cafe after the younger man had accused him of being "stupid". Wong was opening a tin of kaya when Mr Vong, a cook, shouted at him, telling him that he should use another type of can opener instead. Insulted by this sudden provocation, a furious Wong picked up a knife, walked over to Mr Vong and stabbed him. Wong was detained by a security officer while Mr Vong was sent to the Singapore General Hospital for treatment. Mr Vong had to undergo surgery with injuries to his intestines and was discharged five days later. Wong has to complete performing all 200 hours of community service within a year. He could have been jailed up to three months, fined a maximum of S$2,500 or both ============================================================ Seems like a light punishment....just community service?....no mention of special factors (medical, psychiatric, age, financial, etc).... taking a knife to stab someone over a derogatory remark is a serious action....can u imagine if everyone does tat? The hospitals will be congested like hell!
  13. They sure beat Apple to the launches of new phone ...... Yahoo News : Apple copycat 'hiPhone 5' comes calling in China SHANGHAI (Reuters) - The newest version of Apple Inc's popular iPhone has already hit the Chinese market -- the fake market that is. The 'hiPhone 5' is selling for as little as 200 yuan ($31) on China's top e-commerce platform Taobao, which is owned by Alibaba Group. But one has to pay around 800 yuan for a more "genuine" one, according to some shop clerks at a mobile phone market in Shanghai. "Look at this. It's not the same as the 300-400 yuan ones," Shanghai-based daily Metro Express quoted a clerk as saying, pointing to one originally priced at 850 yuan. The 'hiPhone 5' is based on leaked images of the yet-to-be-launched iPhone 5 and is thinner and with less rounded edges than the existing iPhone 4, according to the newspaper. However, it is extremely light, almost like a plastic toy, like most pirated mobile phones, it said. Apple, which is expected to roll out the latest version of the iPhone 5 smartphone within a few months, sold a record 20.34 million iPhones during the last quarter, even though its newest model is over a year old. ($1 = 6.431 Chinese Yuan) No wonder US coming to deep recession .....
  14. Singapore Home > Breaking News > Singapore > Story Jul 12, 2011 Jailed, fined for criminal force on station manager By Elena Chong Wang Shu Jun, a China national, was jailed for a day and given the maximum fine of $1,500 over using criminal force on a station manager. -- ST PHOTO: RAJ NADARAJAN A WOMAN who used criminal force on a railway worker at Serangoon MRT station was jailed for a day and given the maximum fine of $1,500 on Tuesday. Wang Shu Jun, 35, had been convicted after a trial of scratching the hands and pulling the cord of station manager Cindy Chua Hui Keng's walkie-talkie at the station at Serangoon Central on Sept 10 2010. The China national was stopped by SMRT staff for not paying the fare of her five-year-old son who was also using a skate scooter within its premises. The parties then tried to resolve the matter. Ms Chua subsequently took out a camera to snap a few pictures of Wang, who then committed the offence. She was also ordered to pay $500 compensation to the victim by District Judge Eugene Teo. The judge said her conduct was wrong from the start, and that her response to the authorities was atrocious and utterly deplorable. 'By her actions, a simple fare payment matter ultimately resulted in injury to an SMRT officer, an emergency activation of several police officers to the scene, and disruption and inconvenience to other members of the public,' he said. The housewife could have been jailed for up to three months for the offence.
  15. Not too sure if this is the truth or a conspiracy theory. Apparently, US had delivered fake gold bars to China in 2009 as part of the deal for some debt settlement, fast forward to 2011 and the IMF's chief was framed by the US as he knew about the truth. A long read but interesting nevertheless. It all starts to make sense now with the global economic on the brink of destruction, maybe post-phoned to 2012 after the US presidential elections. The take away message is that if its the truth, by plonking down your money on gold may not be the wisest idea. How about silver instead? A new report prepared for Prime Minister Putin by the Federal Security Service (FSB) says that former International Monetary Fund (IMF) Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn was charged and jailed in the US for sex crimes on May 14th after his discovery that all of the gold held in the United States Bullion Depository located at Fort Knox was ‘missing and/or unaccounted’ for. IMF Chief Framed A recent discovery—in October of 2009—has been suppressed by the main stream media but has been circulating among the “big money” brokers and financial kingpins and is just now being revealed to the public. It involves the gold in Fort Knox—the US Treasury gold—that is the equity of our national wealth. In short, millions (with an “m”) of gold bars are fake! US Sells Fake Gold Bars to China
  16. first time see ppl downgrade their brand http://www.carnewschina.com/2011/07/08/pol...nto-honda-cr-v/ Police in China changes Mercedes-Benz ML350 into Honda CR-V Published on July 8, 2011 by Tycho Police in the good city of Fengchenggang in Guangxi Province re-badged their Mercedes-Benz ML350 into a Honda CR-V. There is a lot of criticism in China lately about local governments who waste taxpayers money. Police in Fengchanggang so made some changes to their 900.000 yuan ML350, a Honda CR-V only costs 200.000 yuan. But the plan went wrong. Citizens of Fengchenggang were not to be fooled and posted pics of the Benz CR-V on the internet where

  20. SMRT has offered the Thai teen who lost both her legs in an MRT accident here a compensation of $5,000. However, 14-year-old's father has rejected the amount as it is 'unacceptable'. On April 3, Peneakchanasak Nitcharee pitched forward onto the MRT tracks at Ang Mo Kio station. Since then, she has recovered well in Tan Tock Seng Hospital and has been undergoing physiotherapy. According to a report in The Straits Times today (June 12), Mr Peneakchanasak engaged a lawyer last week to look into getting higher compensation from SMRT. It had offered $5,000, which he has rejected. "Unacceptable. This is for a person, a little girl -- a little girl who had a bad accident. From today onwards, there will be more expenses, like the cost of her new legs and rehabilitation," Nitcharee's upset father told the press. The Thai student will be heading home on Monday (June 13). Her wounds have healed fully, and she now moves around in her new electric wheelchair, bought with donations from the Singapore Rotary e-Club. Said STOMPer christopher of the compensation offered: "It is greatly disappointing that SMRT offered such a low and absurb amount of $5k to the Thai teen. "Surely, we can do better than that. "The $5k cannot even cover basic costs. "Please be more humane."
