  1. kind of curious have anyone thought seriously about migrating overseas? I mean I hear quite a few complaints about life in Singapore. How about overseas? Australia? I am thinking let say my property in Singapore is 1mil. I can get a similar quality one in Aust for 0.5mil and the other 0.5mil can be put to work to earn money. Same for cars... The weather in Aust is better and easier to live in too. More places to relax, and travel. Get a car, go to the beach and it is a cool 15 deg C. I never thought of migrating seriously until recently.
  2. Hi All, Going on a few overseas trips in the next few mths. Would like to check what are the brands of luggage that you would recommend and why? Based on what type of factors (price, reliability, design, capacity..etc) would you make your decision on which brand to buy? What are the important factors that I should take note of? Areas that I would go to are Thailand, Taiwan, Germany, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Denmark....My budget is 350 max.. Would like to hear your experience on the diff types of luggages if any. Thanks in advance...
  3. As above; has anyone ordered hifi speakers from overseas before?? I wanted to order from a set of surround speaker system from Fluance website but Singpost (Vpost) said speakers are on the list of prohibited items and they can't deliver. But how can it be since many gadgets now have speakers eg laptops? Anyone ordered before and what is the process? Thanks.
  4. Do you store handphone number with +65 as prefice. Be careful when you are near the seaside like sembawang or tuas or even east coast park. You may be making overseas using your address book or receiving overseas calls without knowing. I was at tuas south and my phone shows celcom network. The other time I was having BBQ at east coast my handphone auto switched to Indonesian network. I also noted that all sms display +65 so if you auto reply when you are not on local service providers' network, you pay overseas charges.
  5. Hi all, I intend to sell some stuffs to USA and need some advise. Which courier service is the best in terms of speed and handling of item? I've checked UPS, DHL, Fedex and Singpost and Singpost has the best rates. Which of these provide insurance and tracking service for both sender and receiver? What fees do I need to pay if I'm sending to USA? eg. tax/duties If item is lost in transit, which party has to process the insurance? What are the benefits for declaring item as "gift"? Heard from friend that this will be tax exempted, but not sure why. I read briefly that UPS has tied up with eBay. If I list the items on eBay, will they automatically provide the buyer with the shipping fees and such? Thanks for advise and clarification

  10. I am saying this because I just came back from a Genting trip driving on the NS highway. I dare say Malaysian drivers have more etiquete and consideration for other road users as compared to us Singaporeans. Along the entire 300 odd kilometers of 2-lane carraigeway, I observed countless singapore registered cars blatantly hogging the fast lane (Is it because thats how they drive in Spore expressways? I wonder if they are they group of lane hoggers that we dispise). Throughout the journey, I dun see M'sian drivers (except for the Tour buses) purportedly hogging the fast lanes. Even if they were to be travelling on the fast lane, when they see a car fast approaching from behind, they instinctively pulled over to give way. S'porean drivers simply BO HIEW and continue to cruise at 110-120 km/h blocking everyone. They only reluctantly give way whenever someone starts flashing highbeam at them. Please, If you are one of those drivers, I beg u. Either you stay content hogging the lane 1s in Spore and dun venture beyond, or have some consideration for other road users when you do go up north. Remember, when you are overseas, you are an ambassador of your country. Please act as one. This incident really put the icing on the cake - a convoy of 5 Spore vehicles (all frens I presume) hogging the fast lane at 110km/h with a long tail of vehicles trying to pass them. They continued with their oblivious driving even though the left lane was clear. For once, I felt ashamed to be a Sporean. Sorry if I am blunt. The above outburst does not apply to all Spore drivers across the board but only to those who practices this disgusting driving behaviour.
