I've read a few solutions about removing paint, but I was wondering if those apply to removing primer stuck on car too. So far i've been thinking about trying turpentine. Is there anything else I should consider?

  7. Recently wifey got into a little parking accident and scrapped a rear passenger door against a pillar. Two mass stretch of lines and the door got indented like an mini inverted wok. Only 1 single door was affected. Guess will need some panel beating and re-spray of the affected door. Anyone any recommendations where to do repairs? Got quoted $380 from a workshop recommended by a friend. Is it considered reasonable?
  8. have some scratches at the door and the portion above the wheel after hitting a pillar. Afraid it will rust. (Actually what happens if it rusts ?) Thus like to spray paint the affected area. Any 'trusted' workshop that can do a good job and don't overquote to recommend ? Got a quote from dealer and it was like 400+ before GST..... Thanks !

  12. i have some outdoor bamboo blinds painted in black and white which started peeling quite badly. Repainting them would temporarily solve the problem since it would be recurring in another year after exposure to the elements. Hence, seeking from the DIY gurus, if locally we could get something like below? or if they works in the first place (no paint crack/ peel with long exposure to sun). Or some other recommendations? many thanks in advance. https://www.amazon.com/Rubberseal-Liquid-Waterproofing-Protective-Coating/dp/B00F0U0IRA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1488778172&sr=8-2&keywords=rubber+paint https://www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-Corporation-60004-Binding-1-Quart/dp/B000LNSPTE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1488778377&sr=8-1&keywords=peel+stop
  13. Hi all, I check through the forum for this, but could not find a thread. For the repair of car door dings, which workshop would you recommend for good quality at reasonable prices? Most important can collect the car within a day. I have about 4-5 car door dings, went down to Revol grooming and they quoted me $1000 ($250 x 4 door panels). They could not do spot repair, and they say they have to paint the whole door. I thought that is overkill. If you have good recommendation, please post here or PM me. Thanks
  14. Hihi, any bros here know if there is any workshops that provide Dashboard touch up reprinting service? A lot that I saw only do wrapping. Hahaha...) **HOW TO ATTACH PHOTO AH?** Any help will be very much appreciated! Really an eye sore when driving :/
  15. I have experience lost of hydrophobic effect on a 6 months coating due to the amount of dirt and dust trapped on the surface and only used of iron removal then I am able to recover it..You will be surprise parking under a tree during heavy rain will leave a thick layer of bad elements on the surface. So what is the best cleaning solution to use weekly or bi-weekly as a maintenance for PPS to lift off the dirt? Shampoo? plain water? etc? Detailers would advise only wash with water after PPS, waxing or sealant or the most a PH neutral shampoo.. I did a small test to see how much water, shampoo and a solution O( I shall not name the product as this is not a sponsored thread) lift the dirt and clean surface.. The pictures are taken with handphone..Pardon me for the lousy pictures. The car roof surface are marked with solution 0, water and shampoo. Next I prepared a capful of shampoo, a capful of solution in the grit guard bucket and water in another bucket 2 clean wash mitt, one for solution O, one side for water, another side for shampoo on second wash mitt.. Some visible soiled watermarks on every surface before wash I soaked the wash mitt into every solution, squeeze some water out of it.. Surface washed using the wash mitt with the respective solution. Sorry to be continue later, going for my hobby...

  18. Who are we? We are a group of automotive detailing maniacs who spend most of their days around scratched and swirled up cars, trying our very best to bring out the shine in your ride's paintwork. Our passion for shiny cars have turned into an obsession to find the best protection for the precious clear coat, so that you do not have to spend thousands in replacing the factory paintwork after a few years. Regardless of whether your car is new or used, we treat all cars with the same tender loving care as you would. Countless coatings have been tested in grueling conditions and we are glad to finally introduce to you, Honjyo, A Japanese Car Coating Company. (PS. No innocent cars were harmed in the process) Honjyo Glass Neo Why do we need a protective coating over our car's clear coat? Singapore presents a challenging environment for our cars' paintwork to maintain her lustre and shine. In a tropical country, we are constantly faced with torrential rain, high humidity and other destructive forces such as bird droppings, dirt and sand scratches. Constant deep polishing processes that help to remove swirl marks, scratches and watermarks will result in the thinning of clear coat over time. So how can a protective glass coating help? Glass coating provides an enhanced hardened layer of protection over the original clear coat of your car, thus, less deep polishing processes are required, prolonging the life span of your car's clearcoat. Why spend money on aftermarket paint jobs to repair the damaged factory paint that you have paid for? Let us protect your prized possession with Honjyo Glass Coating today! What is "Crystal Glass Coating"? Very solid multilayer coatings, preventing smearing on paints, easy for cleaning, enabling you to accomplish a car wash in very short time. Having hydrophobic effects, thus breaking water into molecules and repelling them from the surface. It can resist even the most burning summer temperatures. Crystal Glass Coating is designed to suit the critical temperature changes of our local climate. The advantages of Glass Coating Weather Resistance : Protecting UV rays, acidic rain and other environmental effects. Pollution Resistance : Not easy to be tainted, in fact, stains can be easily washed away. Bonding Effect : Forms a tight bond with paints, enable it to last longer. Temperature Sustaining : Prevent from melting under high temperature. Chemical Resistance : Preventing attacks of chemical corrosion from exhaust gas or other corrosive substances on car body paints. Hardness : Forming very hard surface, protecting car body from scratches.. Glossy surface : Transparent effect of coatings enhances the colour clarity. Being in the marine industry, I have to go shipyard very often, plus I'm not exactly a hardworking person that detail my car until swee swee.... Please don't start the fire..... [wave] Hope you can share your experience with the pros and cons of the above, although I am more incline toward protective film after reading some of the resources here [thumbsup] Any other alternative also welcome.........Thanks
  21. I think the only shop now in johor starting to go into coating...If you are looking for paint coating services in johor..this one of the new grooming centre you might not want to miss..i chance upon a newly setup grooming centre who is interested in using optiguard for coating service..went in this morning to have a look, at least i need to know the workmanship first before allowing any detailer to purchase optiguard and start using.. As we know optiguard require a very good surface preparation for it to give its best result. I had require them to prepare a black paint car for me..well this is tge easier to tell if your workmanship is good..holograms or more swirl induce after polishibg which is very common found during polishing When i arrive at the shop..the senior detailer was preparing the surface and almost done I brought along an 70% ipa incase if they dun have..the ipa is a must to use before optiguard..this is to strip off any oil left from the polishes for a proper bonding between surface and coating...i proceed with the ipa..good job as i did not see any holograms left or swirl start popping out after ipa.. The master detailer has about 15 years of detailing experience in some well known car make factory and also does dealers car in sg..technically well versed... I introduce the master detailer on the optiguard application and yes..it never fails me.. I took some picture of the front bonnet which is coating...
