  6. Hi, looking for a service (some top coat?) on car paint works to try to prevent Scratches, Discoloration of Paint from hot sun on a daily basis (exposed carpark). I have been looking at those 2nd hand cars thats being groomed by car dealers but from far, looks shiny n bling but upon close inspection, can see lots of swirl marks on the material. I think the basic coat of the car paint has already been damaged because of this polishing or whatever u called. So i'm looking for a service that dont create this problem. In the long run, hope that the extra $ fork out on the protection of paint = less time spend taking care of the car n if need to sell off later, hopefully can command higher price because of extra care taken to protect the paint Any recommendation? Thank you

  9. Dear fellow MCF forum users, I am considering to spray my white Honda Vezel's bonnet at CS Ong Motor (AMK Auotpoint #04-01). I heard that they will use original paint code for my White Orchid Pearl and most probably it will be OEM I think. Can anyone kindly feedback on their paint quality and if their workmanship is good? Hopping to get back original factory paint condition after spray painting. Thank you. :)

  13. In the 1980s and 1990s, having a two-tone paint somehow made a car look more luxurious... Wonder how people suddenly stopped doing it.
  14. Hi, My apologies if I have posted in the wrong forum. Was away for the week and left my car parked in the MSCP. When I went and take my car today, I discovered the bumper and boot have quite a lot of white dots (paints spilled from the MSCP wall painting). Apparently, when they paint the carpark, my car was not fully covered. The paints have dried and I am unable to scratch them off. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about in removing the paint? Thank you.
  15. Tutorial video on how to wet sand paint to achieve a high gloss, removes any imperfections in the paint surface and achieve a mirror shine. This process can be used on a signal stage paint or on a multiple stage paint that does have a clear coat finish. Be very cautious around any edges were the paint can be sanded through easily and also be aware of what the thickness of the paint or clear coat to ensure that the final finish is no sanded through either. Procedure: -start by washing the area you will be wet sanding to ensure there isn't any dirt on the surface which could scratch the paint -you will need 3 different grit levels of sandpaper which include 1000 grit, 1500 grit, and 2000 grit -letting the paper pre-soak in a bucket of water with some soap mixed in to allow further lubrication -starting with the 1000 grit, ensuring that the area is wet before sanding -once you have removed most of the imperfections of the paint, you can now move onto the 1500 grit sandpaper to remove any slight imperfections -after you've achieved a smooth surface, finish up with the 2000 grit sandpaper, always ensure the area is well lubricated with water and wash away any access material from sanding -rinsing the area thoroughly, you can now move onto a polishing compound -apply the polishing compound to a soft clothe and rub into the sanded area, apply any water if the compound does dry out which allows it to be more workable again -after a majority of the fine scratches have been removed, you are now ready to move onto a scratch removing product -similar to the polishing compound, you can add a light spray of water to the scratch remove if it drys out while rubbing it into the painted surface -once you achieved an almost perfect shine, you now need to clean off any access polishing compound or scratching removing product before moving onto the wax stage -ensure that there is no water left on the surface, you can now apply the wax -rub wax into the surface thoroughly and then let it sit on the surface for a minute before you wipe down the surface

  17. Guys, I have been using this diy myself and used this paint protection system and the result is amazing! I didn't took a video of my car which is a waste. The result that you get and the money that you pay for this product is a far cry. I bought mine at Ubi autobac. Which is having a discount currently and i did all the chores myself. And my car now have this beautiful shine and also it have this water flowing off effect that is very different from normal hydrophobic effect that some groomer and told me. Those lotus effect that they share with me. If anyone of you here have tried this products before? please kindly share with us the result!

  20. Hi, sometimes car will be hit by hard objects like falling branches or glass bottles thrown from HDB, somebody's door, etc, and the paint will chip off, leaving small holes in the paintwork. What can we do about these (beside respraying the car)? Can we fill up the holes with something to protect the metal? My car is light metallic green, hole is black, anyway to cover up and touch up the hole to make it less obvious? Thanks for any advise, be it professional help or DIY also can.
  21. Is the paint available in Singapore ........... Yahoo news: Nissan tests self-cleaning paint that could make car washes obsolete During this vile, never-ending winter, motorists had three options to keep their cars clean: Shell out on regular car washes; slave away in the cold, wind and snow washing it yourself, or screw it and just drive a dirty car. I, like many, chose the last option. But if only I'd been able to test Nissan's self-cleaning car, all my troubles would have washed away. Nissan revealed today that it's testing a super-hydrophobic and oleophobic paint, impervious to water and oils. The technology, sold by UltraTech under the name of Ultra-Ever Dry, is in prototype form as applied by the carmaker's European engineers on a Nissan Note. In many ways, it works like Rain X (where the solution's polymers react with pores in the windshield glass to create a barrier that repels precipitation). Ultra-Ever dry creates a layer of air between the paint and environment; when mud, dirt or oils touch the surface, it rolls off leaving a clean, streak-free appearance. Water-resistant coatings aren't new, and Nissan has offered a self-healing product (Scratch Shield) on its cars for years. Researchers at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands have been developing a surface coating that not only repels precipitation like Rain X, but combines the self-healing aspects of Scratch Shield. In 2012, those same researchers expected to be six to eight years away from a production-ready product. The paint being tested by Nissan is ready for production, and as you can see in the images and video, it appears to do its job as intended. No plans are being made to include the paint as standard on future Nissan vehicles; however, the Japanese automaker says it might sell the technology as an add-on — or perhaps as the ultimate in special dealer-pitched coatings. The cost of the paint has not been revealed – or how long its repellant features lasts before needing a re-coat (Scratch Shield lasts around 3 years). Something so simple makes you wonder why we aren't already driving self-cleaning cars. Nissan looks set to make that vision a reality. After this winter, my wife will be thrilled. 22. wanna seek some advice in choosing a new coat of paint, Currently is on blue but slightly toward purple; previous owner I'm not a white person as i don't like to polish the car.. Black, i tried but realized i'm a lazy bugger who will only send the car for a wash every few months.. so it look terrible Matt colors, tried and it suit me well. The only complain is that it wears and tear easily.. especially at the front bumper area where prone to stones/sands.. I read that silver cars are the best, keeping it classy, less heat and best of all, despite few months of dirt, it still look great. Red is sexy, fits the sedan but not many cars can carry Red well.. somehow, it make me fury too. I'm looking at frozen colors, in case, its not available any other colors that i could look into? please share.
  23. Remember as a kid when you yearned for those crazy Hot Wheels cars that changed color when you dunked them in hot and cold water? It was about as much fun as you could have, short of striking first in a game of roshambo. It's the kind of fun you just can't have as an adult. Fortunately, a small UK body shop called Auto Kandy claims to have created a solution for those still dreaming of multi-colored Mustangs: Paint your car in thermochromic paint, and have yourself a full-size Hot Wheels color shifter. As the video below documents, the car used to showcase the wacky paintwork is an orange Nissan Skyline R33. By pouring cold water on the car, the paint transforms from orange to deep purple. While lacking smoke, the heat-sensitive paint adjusts its coloring via pigments, changing color as the temperature swings. The whole process costs just $320, but it will only last four to six months, due to excessive damage from UV light exposure. It begs the question: What's the point? After all, it looks as if the car's been vandalized by a giant flock of pigeons that feed only on purple Skittles. And how bored must you be to pour cold water on your car, only for it to change back minutes later as the temperature normalizes? Personally, I'd rather the ChromaFlair colorings used on cars like the TVR Tuscan. That way, I wouldn't look as if I'd bumped into Barney after an all-night bender. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT6raekYHG4&feature=player_embedded
