  6. Mdm Tan found a photo of her maid posing at a table full of beer. (Pic / Provided by reader) A domestic helper turned into a nightmare for Mdm Tan, 58, who is self-employed. Mdm Tan hired a 26-year-old maid on 9 February last year to help her with household chores in her private home. According to Mdm Tan, her maid did well at work initially but starting sneaking out late at night since last September. Suspicious, Mdm Tan answered her maid's phone one day and was shocked that the caller was asking for sex. She discovered that her maid had been wearing her daughter's shoes and borrowing her sister-in-law's branded handbags before heading out to Geylang to moonlight as a prostitute. Her maid ended up becoming pregnant. She already has three children back home and her husband had left her. Source: Shin Min Daily News, 18 July 2011. Click here for the Chinese version.
  7. Hi guys, It is ok if the other party proceed with engaging his workshop to proceed with the claim, repair even without notifying the other party insurance to see the damages? If this is ok, then how are they going to justify the repair cost?
  8. I am seriously comtemplating such a move. But it has to be part time. So i am thinking will doing it part time reap any substantial gains (if any at all)? My day job is not too busy at the moment Any thoughts?
  9. Hi all, I'm wondering what are the kind of jobs that you guys have done during teenage or even younger? By looking at the thread on median salary, can't help thinking that the younger generation is indeed luckier. Probably have more well to do parents and need not to slog hard to worry about schools fees and daily expenses. I remembered knocking at flats' doors selling biscuits after school, earning a daily income of just S$2. The most lucrative one is probably carrying the golf bags at sentosa golf course for the Japanese. Also worked part-time in Fast food chains as cashier, cigarettes factory as packer, nightclub as waiter, supermarket cashier, store clerk and etc. Time have changed and we are seeing more FTs fast taking up these jobs. I'm all for kids taking up part-time job not so much for the money these days but to let them expose earlier in handling real-life issues/situation, knowing how to interact with people and to realize the reality in life. Regards,
  10. Here's Part 1 if u want to read it
  11. X-scaping The City 2011 - Part I - Following PML to Pangkor Laut, Malaysia What an adrenaline fueled weekend it has been, with full-on smokey sideways action over at Formula Drift, the Canadian GP and of course, the legendary 24hrs or LeMans over in France. With non-stop racing action happening back to back, i instead, chose to go on a different route, heading up north into Malaysia with almost 600km's of road awaiting in front of me, on a warm and rather early Friday morning. Destination, Pangkor Laut, with Performance Motors as we

  17. X5 Review After spending about 1000km in the BMW X5 4.4i, I thought I should write a simple review of it. The X5 I drove has that famous BMW double Vanos 4.4L V8 which is also found in the 545i, 645Ci and the 745iL but without Valvetronic. No Valvetronic? Does it matter? Absolutely not! The engine has a stable of 320 horses released at 6100 rpm and 440 nM of torque (more than enough to break your neck hundreds of times over) dished out to you at a rather calm 3700 rpm. This is good enough to bring this 4.7 metres long, 2200 kg car/truck/SAV from stand still to 100 km/h in 7.0 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h, making it the fastest terrace house in the world! This is achieved through a 5 speed automatic gear box driving all 4 wheels (rear bias). This particular vehicle comes equipped with Sat Nav and Sports package in mandatory metallic black. Perfect to set you apart from mommies and bored house wives, pitching you right into pimp and drug dealer territory. The Sports package gets you 19

  23. Hi all, I've completed with the 50s to 2Ks song lists and is now moving to Bollywood songs and Mandarin songs. Finding the Mandarin or Chinese Music video from Youtube is not that easy as they are not as readily available like the English Songs, I've tried and can't find some of my favourite . Unlike the English songs, I will not be organizing them by decade, partly I do not know much of the Chinese songs in the past. So I will start with the modern Chinese songs of the 2000s. I've about 100 songs in my collection but intend to collect about another 100 of them. So I need your recommendation. For now lets get the ball rolling and here we go again:
  24. Someone wrote in on this topic in today TODAY newspapers -------- Kings of the road? Letter from Yvonne Tan 05:55 AM Sep 20, 2010 MANY pedestrians and most, if not all, Singaporeans believe that it is the motorist's fault when a pedestrian gets knocked down. As a motorist, I frequently see pedestrians taking their own sweet time to cross at the traffic lights. They often continue walking slowly even when the green man turns to red. They also often continue to cross the road until the "green arrow" for cars that are turning goes off. I have come across pedestrians crossing the road so slowly that cars have to slow down almost to a stop in the middle of the road. If a motorist honks at them, these pedestrians merely look up and continue walking. Some don't even care. I have come across a pedestrian who told me that it is the pedestrian's right of the way because cars must stop even when there is no pedestrian crossing. I had stopped at a T-junction to ensure that there was no oncoming traffic before turning out. Just then a group of pedestrians crossed the road in front my car. I could see that some did walk faster to cross the road. However, there were others who did not increase their speed. I honked at them, cut a little into the next lane and drove off. I stopped at the traffic light a few metres away. While there, one of the pedestrians at whom I had honked approached me and told me that I had to stop because pedestrians had right of way. He insisted that he had right of way and threatened to call the Land Transport Authority. I find that this behaviour stems from the belief that pedestrians are kings of the road. These pedestrians are putting their lives in the hand of motorists by expecting cars to stop for them anywhere and everywhere. The law protects pedestrians from reckless and irresponsible drivers. Shouldn't it also protect motorists from arrogant, uniquely Singapore pedestrians.
  25. Bukit Timah Rd closed from Eng Neo to Sixth Ave. Overhead bridge apparently hit by heavy vehicle, in danger of collapsing.
