  1. Was at the Auto Expo 2007 this afternoon , notice not many buying from PI, do you think is it becos of the Frankel saga people are avoiding PI
  2. In the past, Sgcarmart used to have about 30 new advert per day. Now it seem is easily about 60-70 cars per day. Is it many people are selling off their car due to the rising cost? On the same note, many people are not buying new which resulted in the lowered COE?
  3. Hi all, I am wondering taht with the current high petrol price, will people think twice when getting or upgrade to a bigger car. Or nobody care how much is petrol price since people who driving a Cat B people should be able to afford high petrol price? Appreciate your feedback and opinion.
  4. Hi MCF bros n sis, I'm a brand new driver of a brand new Nissan Latio. After a few days driving, really enjoy it. But After scrutinized detail figures in the brochure, I realized that its Gross Vehicle Weight is only 1415 kg. After minus its 1110 kg kerb weight. The payload is only 305 kg. So if I got to carry 5 adult (include driver), average of passenger's weight has to be below 61kg (305/5 =61). If there's any load inside boot, the passenger weight limit has to be lower again. Anyone has idea what's average weight of singapore adult? Based my own observation, 61kg might be below average weight of singapore gentlemen. Now, I dare not to volunteer carrying my colleagues out for lunch as some of them are as big size as Ang Mo guy, at least above 85kg leh. If one such big guy sits in, the other 3 have to be below 51kg/each as I myself is 66kg. Isn't it ridiculous for an owner of 5-seater sedan to have such worry? Would like to hear from other Latio user on this point. p.s. Compare below table, I really overlooked this issue before signed the dotted line. Gross Weight Kerb Weight standard man+load * (Gross - Kerb) Latio (sedan) 1415 1110 305 Sunny (EX) 1605 1110 495 New Vios (J) 1505 1040 465 Altis 1600 1175 425 * info from below thread which is the most closed thread in MCF. http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...%20gross;#73453
  5. Hi Guys I just had my Swift on 31/8/07 and had clocked abt 7K so far. Alhough my servicing for 3 years are labour cost free, they are charging me $60 for mineral oil + filter and $95 for syntectic oil + filter. So I asked if I could bring my own instead, the person told me that they will charge me $20 for the labour fee. I am puzzled. Wasnt it supposed to be labour fee free?
  6. Hey folks! I just had a bad experience in Trxx Fitnxxx today. Few days ago, I received a call that I am given 2 weeks free for the usage of its gym facilities. So, I went today and thought I will just take the free 2 weeks mebership and be gone in 10-15mins. Never did I realise that I was stuck there for more than an hour, with a few chaps taking their turn persuading me to sign up either the yoga package or the personal trainer package. My Body Fat Measurement by their machine, received a score of 79 and I was deemed very fit. Just that I fall short of a kg. Yet, they were trying to convince me to sign up. When I politely declined their offer, they attempted again and again, asking me questions why I was not interested. Towards the end, I have to firmly tell the personal trainer off that he could not hard-sell his package to me, even when I have told him that I was not interested. He left after that and the supervisor came to me. I gave him a short piece of my mind that he has wasted my one hour when I actually just came to get the 14 days free pass and walked out of their counter. I was super pissed.
  7. I would like to check When you have non stock exhaust pipes, do you guys pass your inspection easily? I need to send my EP80 (with not passable pipe) in for check soon so as to renew my road tax. Anyway to pass without spending big money. Any advices or comments?
  8. arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i really cant stand those idiots at petrol station. Nope not the workers but the customers itself. Why can't these idiots stand 1 side until their vehicles have finish pumping petrol/diesel before paying. just like this evening 1 well dress guy was standing in front of me in a queue towards the paying counter. he went and buy a parking coupon then telling the cashier his pump number the cashier told him it is still pumping by doing so, he held out the counter for well 10 mins i guess the cashier is being inexperience that he do not know how to do reverse transaction to void the parking coupon and ask the next in line to proceed 1st while waiting for that idiot car to finish pumping. i mean come on i've seen quite a number of idiots that once the attendant start to pump in the petrol, they will start to pay for petrol even though this will eventually held out other patrons
  9. I'm extremely frustrated with a auntie's act just now below my block. It just shows how much respect you have for other people and i sincerely hope you start to treat other's people car nicer even though you don't care about your husband's car. SGB####T *Staying around 140+ Simei st 1* i just got my p80 and was trying to setup all my fm to the channels i like. Your husband car came along and parked beside mine. *BOOM* You opened the door like it weigh a ton and smashed into my door. I was stunned but eventually pissed when i realised what had happened. The best part is that you stared at me, as if i bang my door into yours. You walked to the front of your car and proceeded to move off, even had the cheek to stare at me again before you leave. I hope this is not what you educate your children to be because you did it right infront of your little boy and girl, whom both of which is still in primary school. By nature i am a nice guy whom don't mind to have more friends then to make 1 more enemy, but your behaviour is really outstanding i must say. Thanks for reading my ranting. I hope you believe in karma.
  10. Have been on the road with my mom these days. and phew... was going home. along this long stretch of road, chartwell drive, ( for ppl who have gone to ser gdns b4, its a long road going into the estate). Church ended, for the st xaviers church. Omg. i saw one youth group walking in the middle of the road.. rolling around on skateboards. My mom was like. they wear black leh~ I had NO hesitation. I horned and high beamed them. then they laughed. i felt bad cause they would be frightened, but hello, they were IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAIN ROAD. their safety was at stake. What kind of youngsters are these? and they go to church? Being a christian myself, i simply wonder, why are my peers becoming like this. Also, just because of the dinner crowd and the popularity of Chomp2, i have people parking their cars on a MAIN ROAD and blocking two way traffic, such that cars going in one direction, got to give way to other cars who were supposed to go straight, but got to eat into the wrong lane just to proceed. I wonder how these people pass their Basic theory. ... Sigh.
  11. Happen to be travelling about 70km/h along Bt Timah Rd yesterday. I agree that the distance between each car is not really really sufficient unless your brakes bite well. My front suddenly braked in the middle lane which forced me to do so as well...this bike behind me still dont know how to slow down upon my brake lights so, end up bang on me lor. I came out, my first reaction was to make sure he was fine physically but u know whats his first reaction? - scold me! I just dont understand why these people dont see further and react accordingly... u bang on me and u still scold me???? i havn't started to scold u! I should be claiming u for thiose small scratches on my car! i know my car is hardy and no scratches though... it was a big wooden block that created this problem actually. But please, if u are driving or riding at whatever speed, leave sufficient braking distance...this is one very big problem about s'porean. take care, saying sorry does not not work in some accidents.
  12. Three medium to large universities and three specialist institutions would be right for the time the population hits six million - one university for every million people. How about a roof for the homeless and destitute in sillypore How about 1 hospital for every 100,000 people How about 1 bus for every 1000 working person How about ...... (your wish list) http://news.asiaone.com/News/The%2BStraits...y%2Bsector.html
  13. Do silly things when they're on the verge of success (can't find a better word)? Example: The stupid NSF who went out to Orchard with a loaded rifle just one month before his ORD. You guys ever encountered people who do things to destroy everything when they're about to complete that task (etc)? Or have you done that yourself?
  14. now it is back again for those who complain on other vehicles parking with different "style". http://sgparkingidiots.blogspot.com/
  15. Do you agree with this someone from parliament?
  16. Hi would appreciate if any ad agency people can give me the inside view on the following questions 1) What are the prospects like in this industry - when i say prospects i mean potential earnings relative to other sectors like say marine and etc (i know cannot compare with eg banking) 2) long hours - are they subject to just junior staff or is this a reality at senior mgmt. 3) heard that you will always be on the receiving end taking sxxt from clients - is this true or not, and that no matter what you do often it will not be good enough no matter what. 4) is there a good chance to jump to say marketing departments with ad agency experience, heard from an acquaintance that despite ten years experience he cant jump cos the client side look for industry experience and not just advertising experience, how true is this (of course there are isolated cases but i am asking generally.) thanks in advance cos an opportunity just came up.
  17. Cars in Singapore are so expensive, and they only last 10 years becos of the COE system without paying for another 5 or 10 years. This makes upkeeping of cars in Singapore quite popular. Seeing sparkling cars on the roads on weekends sometimes make me wonder how do people maintain their cars. I used to spend 3 - 4 hours on my car on weekends but since my son arrived, I can't afford the time. So what is my next best option? Car grooming centres! Before I start with my personal opinions, please share with all MCFers the following: 1. Where to find reliable (or unreliable) grooming centres? 2. How much for a make-over(per session or per package)? 3. How to check for quality of the polish/wax? 4. How often to go for a make-over? 5. What other things need to be done between polishes? Shoot Away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-2EQlLlyT-1076.html can someone explain this??
  19. hi all, i work in a ulu part of sgpore, therefore everyday there will be ppl from the same camp that ask for a ride out to the main road. normally i nv reject those ppl who ask for a ride to the main road. recently there's a few times that, when they board my vehicle, they will 1st ask where i stay, then i normally told them i stay at pasir ris, afterthat they will ask whether i can drop them at pasir ris mrt station. The point is that i buy a car is for my own convenience, now nd to detour abit to ferry ppl to the mrt... u think its fair for mi?? pls share ur comments..

  21. Hi Guys Just to share with you a experience , during my accident . After my accident out of a sudden , Some "good hearted" people representing a repair workshop approaches you for repairs , offering to fight the claims for you . They are very pushy and kept persuading u to tow the vehicle to their workshop . They will tell you your insurance won't cover you and your authorised workshop will take very long for repairs. They claim that they will engage their lawyer to fight to give you maximum claims . So I reckon that they are very dodgy and suspicious , like trying to take advantage of you when you are shocked/stunned after a accident . So in the end, I ignore them , insisted to tow it back to C&C . Just curious , how come these ppl so fast , knows the location of the accident , even way before TP comes? Anyone in such suitation , tow their car to their workshop? Share experience please ?
  22. Dr A E Haas is from BITOG. He is a plastic surgeon and so you know how much he earns. He stays in California. Below are his UOAs for his 2004 Murcielago and 2003 Maranello. He super hiong. Use 0W30 on the Lambo and 0W20 on the Ferrari. He did mention that as long as he is not racing, he will push the OCI up. BTW, the OCI for the Murcialago is 2.5k miles and the Maranello is 5k miles. http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultima...=3;t=002957 BTW, he has a Maybach in his garage as well.
