  1. SHELL 97 increase to rm 2.70 so damn expensive, i rather pump in singapore.
  2. Just saw in papers yesterday, 2 guys caught tempering their petrol gauges kanna fine $500 n jailed for 2 weeks. One car even got compound. Such a heavy punishment. Though first time offence is fine only....
  3. I notice in JB, some petrol stations' pump attendants will collect cash directly from me. How safe is this? Would the attendants claim I did not pay and drove off. Catch me the next time I pump there again? Anyone pays to the pump attendants? All pump station got cameras?
  4. the end of Hybrid is nigh as well? --- Updated 09:50 AM Oct 21, 2012 LONDON - A small British company has developed a way to create petrol from air and water, technology it hopes may one day contribute to large-scale production of green fuels. Engineers at Air Fuel Synthesis (AFS) in Teeside, northern England, say they have produced 5 litres of synthetic petrol over a period of three months. The technique involves extracting carbon dioxide from air and hydrogen from water, and combining them in a reactor with a catalyst to make methanol. The methanol is then converted into petrol. By using renewable energy to power the process, it is possible to create carbon-neutral fuel that can be used in an identical way to standard petrol, scientists behind the technology say. "It's actually cleaner because it's synthetic," Mr Peter Harrison, chief executive officer of AFS, said in an interview. "You just make what you need to make in terms of the contents of it, so it doesn't contain what might be seen as pollutants, like sulphur," he said. The work is part of a two-year project that has so far cost around
  5. I see it all the time: people queuing up at the counter while their car is being filled up. When it's their turn to pay and the car is not ready, the cashier will signal for the second chap to move up. When their car is ready, they will be first in the queue. When you have a few people doing it, it sometimes causes congestion and confusion; and everyone is delayed due to the crowd. I only queue up after my car is ready. Am I being stupid or what?
  6. (吉隆坡7日訊)5月1日起,只有符合資格的大馬國民,才可享有每公升1.80令吉(補貼后的價格)的Ron95汽油,無補貼價格是2.10令吉。 No subsidy price still cheaper than Spore.
  7. It stated at RM3.00 for RON97 as for today.
  8. British Petroleum (BP) has recently announced a recall for approximately 2.1 million gallons of gasoline produced by its refinery in Whiting, Ind. The contaminated gasoline was sold in the northeast Indiana and Northeast Illinois areas. The recall came after reports of motorists flooding car repair shops in northwestern Indiana over a couple of days. According to BP, the contaminated petrol can cause hard starting, stalling and other drivability issues. In a statement issued by BP, the gasoline was blended from 13 Aug 2012 to 17 Aug 2012 and contained a higher than normal level of polymeric residue. BP said it is investigating how the contamination occurred. An affected car owner is expecting a US$1,200 bill from a local automobile dealership after having his car
  9. shell increased by 5cts yesterday, any updates of the others? was looking for updates here cos petrolwatch always not the latest, but seems like nobody bother to post on here liao as well
  10. The US National Petroleum Council (NPC) says high costs and technology limitations will ensure that internal combustion engines remain the dominant power source for cars until at least the middle of the century. Although there have been innovations in electric and hydrogen fuel cell propulsion technologies, the lower cost of internal combustion engines and their suitability will see conventional petrol and diesel engines, hybrids, plug-ins and natural gas engines continue to lead the market until 2050. However, all is not lost for the environment. The NPC believes that the ongoing technological advancements in lightweight materials, improved aerodynamics and drivetrain electrification could see the fuel economy of internal combustion engine vehicles improve by 60 to 90% over the next four decades. The report also commented that it is too early to pinpoint the fuel of the future and hence recommends that a broad portfolio of technology options should be pursued and supported. Hence, oil producing nations can rest assured that their export will still be in hot demand for a long time to come. The National Petroleum Council is an American advisory committee representing oil and natural gas industry views to the Secretary of Energy.
  11. went for servicing. collected the car. went pump petrol. than realized petrol leaking.... still dono if its the fault of CNC since it only leaks immediately after my servicing. sent the car back 2 days ago, until now not much update. they suggest to open up the whole petrol area assembly to check if it is internal leaking as the all the tubes seems ok. will cost me $200 just for inspection! parts replacement if foc a not still dono as my warranty expired in April. CNC say will help to check with Kia if they allow FOC parts since only two months expiry of warranty.. praying hard... sian...
  14. As aboved, anyone change before? Heard from mechanic that every 40k km to 60k km needs to be changed. What will happen if you do not change. To be honest, this is the first time I heard of it during my 20 yrs of driving.
  15. If you own a car in our little sunny island, you would know about the exorbitant prices that the local petrol stations charge us. Even when oil prices go down a little, their petrol prices stays the same and there is nothing much we consumers can do about it. Would it be great if the engines in our cars can perform as per normal by using only about fifty percent of the regular fuel usage? You might think that this is something absurd or beyond the bounds of possibility but it might happen because an American company, Delphi, is developing an engine technology that could improve the fuel economy of petrol-powered cars by 50 percent. This would potentially rival the performance of hybrid vehicles while costing less. A test engine which is based on this idea is similar in some ways to a highly efficient diesel engine, but runs on petrol. The company has tested the technology in a single-piston test engine under various operating conditions. They have started testing the technology on a multi-cylinder engine which is close to a production engine. Its fuel economy estimates shows that engines based on this technology could be far more efficient than even diesel engines. These estimates are based on simulations of how a medium sized vehicle would perform with a multi-cylinder version of the new engine. The Delphi technology is the latest attempt by researchers to combine the best qualities of diesel and petrol engines. Diesel engines are 40 to 45 percent efficient in using the energy in fuel to propel a vehicle, compared to roughly 30 percent efficiency for petrol engines. But diesel engines are generally dirty and require expensive exhaust-treatment technology to meet emissions regulations. For decades, researchers have attempted to run diesel-like engines on petrol to achieve high efficiency with low emissions. Such engines might be cheaper than hybrid ones since they don't require a large battery and electric motor. In conventional petrol powered engines, a spark ignites a mixture of fuel and air. Diesel engines don't use a spark. Instead, they compress air until it's so hot that fuel injected into the combustion chamber soon ignites. Several researchers have attempted to use compression ignition with petrol, but it's proved challenging to control such engines, especially under the wide range of loads put on them as the car idles, accelerates, and cruises at various speeds. Delphi's approach, which is called petrol-direct-injection compression ignition, aims to overcome the problem by combining a collection of engine-operating strategies that make use of advanced fuel injection and air intake and exhaust controls, many of which are available on advanced engines today. For example, the researchers found that if they injected the petrol in three precisely timed bursts, they could avoid the rapid combustion that's made some previous experimental engines too noisy. At the same time, they could burn the fuel faster than in conventional petrol engines, which is necessary for getting the most out of the fuel. They used other strategies to help the engine perform well at extreme loads. For example, when the engine has just been started or is running at very low speeds, the temperatures in the combustion chamber can be too low to achieve combustion ignition. Under these conditions, the researchers directed exhaust gases into the combustion chamber to warm it up and facilitate combustion. The engineering manager of advanced powertrain technology at Delphi Powertrain suggests that the engine could be paired with a battery pack and electric motor, as in hybrid cars, to improve efficiency still more, although he also mentioned that it's not clear whether doing that would be worth the added cost. 22. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/24/...E8DO1BQ20120224 Fri Feb 24, 2012 1:05am EST * Tensions between Iran and West boost oil * Upbeat U.S. economy data lifts demand outlook * Brent hits fresh record in euros on Thursday (Adds details, update prices) By Florence Tan SINGAPORE, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Brent crude rose above $124 on Friday, on track for a fifth straight weekly gain, as worries over Iranian supply and upbeat U.S. economic data offset concerns that high oil prices could snuff out demand growth. Brent crude rose 38 cents to $124.00 by 0550 GMT, after touching a high of $124.28 earlier in the session. Brent, which has gained more than 11 percent so far this month, settled on Thursday at $123.62 a barrel -- the highest front-month settlement since May 2 last year. U.S. crude futures rose for a seventh day, its longest winning streak since a 10-day gain in December 2009. The April contract was up 73 cents at $108.56 a barrel. "There's still a risk premium to be built in oil prices because of Iran," said Jonathan Barratt, chief executive of BarrattBulletin, a Sydney-based commodity research firm. Tensions between the West and Iran over Tehran's nuclear programme rose after a U.N. nuclear watchdog mission ended in failure this week. Faced with western sanctions, European and Asian buyers of Iranian crude have or planned to cut imports from Tehran. Japan, the world's third-largest oil importer, may cut Iranian crude imports by a more-than-expected 20 percent as it seeks a waiver from U.S. sanctions, a move which would spare its banks from a major blow but also boost its rising fuel import bill. Yet, the stalemate over Iran's nuclear programme is working in favour of the Islamic Republic as higher oil prices are compensating Iran for its market share losses, Barratt said. Iran said it has maintained oil production levels despite sanctions, but oil experts said they suspected Tehran was storing crude at sea while looking for new customers to evade Western measures. DEMAND CONCERNS Consumption for refined oil products in the United States -- the world's top oil consumer -- plunged to the lowest level in nearly 15 years, data from the Energy Information Administration showed. President Barack Obama hit back at election-year Republican criticism of his energy policies, offering a staunch defense of his attempts to wean Americans off foreign oil and saying there is no "silver bullet" for high gasoline prices. Rising oil prices have also been adding to concerns over demand. Brent valued in euros surged to a record on Thursday, adding fuel costs to the euro zone's debt troubles and denting the region's recovery efforts. Brent's record price in euros is "going to hurt any chance of recovery" at the euro zone, Barratt said. The euro zone has yet to break its vicious cycle of debt as its economy is heading into its second recession in just three years and the wider European Union will stagnate, according to a forecast by the European Commission. Brent's premium to U.S. crude CL-LCO1=R narrowed to $15.44 after closing at $15.79 on Thursday as inventories at Cushing, the delivery point for WTI, fell 315,000 barrels last week. The spread rose to over $20 a barrel earlier in the month on rising inventories in the U.S. Midwest. In other markets, Asian shares rose and the euro hovered at 2-1/2-month highs on Friday after data underscored a recovery in the battered U.S. labour market and German business sentiment improved. The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits last week held at the lowest level since the early days of the 2007-2009 recession, while U.S. December home prices rose 0.7 percent. Petrol theft..

Today after pumped full tank of 98, while I was queuing at the cashier, I noticed a bike pulled up behind my car, took out the Vpower and put into his tank, and ride off after a while. I didn't take notice cos I thought the pump will not activate until the bill is settled, so that guy could have left unsuccessfully in his attempt to fuel up. Then.. the cashier asked me, u pump one time ah? Wth.. of course I pump once. $120... then I realized that pump allowed a 2nd pump even before the first bill is settled. At the pump, the meter showed 10 liters pumped instead of 55 liters from me. Guys, was it a malfunction at the pumps or there is no such mechanism at all? Lucky that bike was filling up Vpower and I filled 98. I could be paying petrol for him if he used to same as me. Careful guys.. keep a close watch of your cars..
