  1. The Le Mans 24 hours endurance race will be short of one of its regulars this year and maybe the year after that. Peugeot has announced that it will be pulling out of endurance racing due to lackluster sales in 2011. It has also stated that it will pour its resources on marketing the new Peugeot 208 supermini(above) and its 2012 hybrid models instead. Quite obvious actually. With the pullout, this would mean that Audi will have no actual rival in the LMP1 category as Peugeot was its only actual rival. Peugeot won the 2009 Le Mans and the first Intercontinental Le Mans cup title in 2011 with its diesel powered Peugeot 908HDi FAP. A monopoly at this year's Le Mans? Aside from Audi gaining from Peugeot's absence, they will also gain from Toyota's decision to only participate in a few of this year's LMP1 races and the fact that old timers Porsche will only be re-entering the fray in 2014. So expect a very lopsided Le Mans LMP1 category for the next few years people. And furthermore, Le Mans without a proper French manufacturer/team is somehow a sad thing too. It is actually quite sad to see Peugeot pull out of Le Mans are they have been doing quite well and was the second manufacturer to compete in the Le Mans with a diesel powered car
  2. [extract] The usage of lightweight materials in cars is not something new. Many automakers have done it and this trend is increasing. Usually, carbon fibre is the preferred material choice. Recent reports have shown that several automakers plans to shed more weight from their cars by infusing more carbon fibre parts and some have even invested in companies that manufacture carbon fibre. The main factors of carbon fibre usage are pretty well known. It is light in weight, pretty strong and for some; it gives out an image of exclusivity especially when most people know that it is an expensive material. The Lamborghini Aventador is one good example of how automakers infuse carbon fibre into their creations. The Aventador
  3. Finally, Peugeot has come to their senses! This is basically the conclusion I came up with after viewing the specifications of the new Peugeot 208 supermini launched over in Europe. After years of building porky, overweight superminis and hatchbacks Peugeot has finally realized that they need to revisit their roots (namely the Peugeot 205GTI) and come up with a lighter car. The pinnacle in all these fat Peugeot hatchbacks to me was, is, the current Peugeot 308. It was never like a Pug from days gone by. It was flabby, handled terribly and rode badly too. Unlike a Pug from the 1980s and 1990s. Anyway, Peugeot has claimed that the new 208 is its

    Peugeot 308 T

Hi all, Any one driving a Peugeot 308 T here? It is selling cheap in JB and wondering whether the accessories, support and maintenance have been alright for this French car? Please feedback and Thank you very much. Regards,
  5. There have been quite a few French cars tested recently over at SgCarMart recently and those of you who cannot get enough of anything French, I am glad to report that I had a spin in a 2010 308 VTi 1.6 quite recently. This car has been around since 2008 and for SG$100k, gives you a whole lot of car for the money. The 308 1.6 I drove is a Malaysian specced car. Which only lacks the glass roof of the one sold in Singapore. Over in Singapore, you'd get a panoramic glass roof, dual zone air-conditioning, 16 inch wheels on 205/55/16 tires and the big smiley mouth to go with it. It has so happy a face that Peugeot recently changed its design philosophy a tad bit. Do a search on the Peugeot SR1 concept to see the changes in design philosophy. The only difference this 120bhp normally aspirated 1.6 liter Vti has compared to the 1.6liter THP Turbo are the turbocharger that pushes out 140bhp but 240Nm of torque instead of 160Nm and that the rims on the Turbo are 17inches in diameter with 225/45/17 tires. The rest is pretty much similar and the interior looks like it is built better than French cars from the early 2000s or before. In those days, especially pre1990s, French cars usually will have those useless bits of trim falling off leaving only the funcional items behind for the driver to use. All the more better if you intend to go racing in one

    Peugeot 206

Hi everyone, got my eyes on a '00 206 1.4M, anyone have valuable experiences and feedbacks regarding this car?
  7. It will only be a matter of days to the launch of Peugeot's all new 208 in October 2011. Directly aimed at the likes of the Ford Fiesta and the Renault Clio, it is considered to be the most important model of the year for the automaker due to the supermini's popularity, especially in its native country. It will be smaller and lighter than the car it replaces, but the newcomer is aiming to make an even bigger splash than the top selling 207, thanks to distinctive looks and efficient engines. It will be one of the first cars in the supermini class to feature a removable touchscreen cabin-control system that owes at least some of its design to that of the iPad. With functions to upload and store maps, music and more, the device looks likely to be offered as standard on all but entry-level models. Leading the charge will be this sporty three-door version, which debuts alongside the five-door model. Both three and five-door cars will offer a wide range of petrol and diesel engines - including an innovative three-cylinder turocharged petrol unit offering almost 70mpg. However the star of the show is set to be a new 211bhp evolution of the 1.6-litre THP turbocharged engine available in the RCZ. The car, which some describes it as a spiritual successor to the famed 205 GTi, will be one of the fastest, most powerful small Peugeots ever built. Drivers can expect race-style bucket seats, and a thick rimmed steering wheel. The car will also get a large rear wing, and special trim on the sills and wheelarches to make it look that little bit meaner than the standard model. But despite this focus on performance, the car will also sport the latest fuel saving technologies, with stop and start and direct injection. With variable valve timing and a potent turbocharger the power on offer will only be one part of the effort to make this car a hot hatch to watch out for.

  9. Hi all, Any comments about the peugeot 307 SW? Is it a good buy at the current price? Have been hunting for a SUV or MPV. Gave up on SUVs cos the CRV and CX-7 is too ex. Like the Oydessey but its a 2.4 and it's over the 90k mark. So now left with Peugeot, Renault and Mazda 5. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks all.
  10. This is breaking news. Or sort of actually. The Peugeot EX1 all-electric concept race car has set a new speed record at the Nurburgring Nordschleife! But before we break out the glasses and champange please note that the record is for an electric car and not the overall Nurburgring record. The Peugeot EX1 was piloted by Stephane Caillet and lapped the 20.8km Nordschleife in 9 minutes 1.338 seconds with an average speed of (yawn) 138.324km/h. Note that Peugeot have quoted until the 1/1000th of a decimal point for both lap time and average speed. I suppose when you're going this slow every 1/1000th of a second counts. The previous electric car record lap was somewhere in the region of 9 minutes 51.0938849393 seconds. I have no idea what car did that previous lap time and I don't really care. This is because you could do that sort of time in a Ford Transit van (note Ms Sabine Schimdt in one of the Top Gear episodes). What this basically shows is that electric cars may look as good as the Peugeot EX1 concept car, but Batmobile looks aren't everything. It also tells us that electric cars still have a long way to go in terms of outright performance. You see, even though the Peugeot EX1 has twin electric motors making about 345bhp, I believe Peugeot had to tell the driver to take it easy on the throttle as batteries may drain faster than usual knowing the current lack of range in all electric cars built today. In fact, if I were to give an example, the green, frog-like car featured above could lap the Nordschleife in around 7 minutes 30seconds or so. And it also sounds stupendous while doing it. Unlike an electric car which would sound exactly like the electric 1/10th scale car that you see people play with. Which is slightly better sounding than a blender. So until the times (and range) of electric cars start tumbling closer to what fossil fuel driven cars can achieve, only then may more people start believing in their potential.

  12. The Peugeot 308 must be the happiest car in the world. It has the largest most toothiest front ever to sit on a car and on some models, it grins happily for all to see with its very large chrome lined grille and its slanted happy looking eyes. But that very large basking shark grille has now been made slightly smaller in the facelifted 308 hatchback, cabriolet and wagon. Peugeot will officially unveil these cars live at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The 308 will have the same engines, both diesel and petrol. The most thrilling 308 will be fitted with the 200bhp version of the 1.6liter BMW Mini turbocharged engine and the least exciting one (in my opinion) would be the one fitted with the 1.4liter petrol engine pumping out 98bhp. 0-100km/h may take slightly longer than a week or so as even the pre-facelifted 1.6liter (non-turbo) which I occasionally drive feels slow and cumbersome. I do think that the new front end reins in the excess in the 308. The newer nose is slightly more rounded and it makes the 308 look like it has a smaller overhang up front. It also makes the car look more balanced overall. The old 308 looked like it had David Coulthard's chin and Jennifer Lopez's rear end. The facelifted Pug has the same rear end but the chin has got a reduction. Peugeot's new corporate styling is now slightly more sensible. Less is more and I can't wait for Peugeot to facelift the 3008 (pic above). I believe that crossover vehicle is the ultimate expression of the ridiculous toothy grin that has now been removed from the 308. The 3008 truly reminds me of a hippopotamus' toothy grin. And I do believe that Peugeot should facelift the 3008 immediately even though Peugeot only launched that 'car' quite recently.
  13. I need to check whether anyone has upgraded their sound system for the Peugeot 407: better speakers, added in amplifier or sub-woofer, etc without affecting the steering controls. Any place to recommend for some enquiries? Low budget $600.00!!
  14. According to the UK daily The independent, Peugeot has not tested their 107 mini car for crashes where the driver weighs more than 78kg. This piece of news came about during an inquest at the High Wycombe Magistrate's Court in Buckinghamshire regarding the death of one Mrs Judith Evans, who weighed 102kg. She had died when the Peugeot 107 she was driving crashed head on into a Vauxhall Vectra on January 20th, 2009. The inquest arose from Vehicle Safety Consultancy Ltd (VSC), which was asked by the Thames Valley Police to consider the protection offered to Mrs Evans in the collision after they noticed her injuries seemed unusually severe for the force of the impact. A mechanical engineer at VSC, had said Mrs Evans, who was 56 at the time suffered injuries deemed by experts to be
  15. Sfp4718g to the driver of this car. Peugeot i think... do not be stupid ass la. U were at pasir ris ( behind the CC where the temple and ATM is). 16. Sometime last week Peugeot launched their new weird looking mini SUV called the 3008 in Singapore. It has a chassis that is based on the 308. It also has a 150bhp 1.6liter turbocharged engine (with a more advanced 6 speed gearbox) from the 308 but with the looks of a hippopotamus instead of the shapely 308. There, now lets move on to some real good news......
  17. Peugeot has released official details of the all-new 508, an upmarket replacement for the 407 range. Marketing gurus from the French marque describe the 508 as being full of French chic, with an elegant and timeless exterior design. Materials used in the 508 are said to be of higher quality than its predecessor. It benefits from a larger boot and a general increase in interior space. The new e-HDi stop and start system offers a fuel efficiency improvement of up to 15%, according to Peugeot. The brand's Hybrid4 technology will become available after launch and will feature 200 bhp and an AWD system. Emissions are 99g/km in normal combined driving or 0g/km in full electric mode. Cutting C02 emissions is paramount to Peugeot's sales strategy, and the 508 is said to lower emissions while improving engine performance. Dynamics are also said to be up a notch and weight is kept to a minimum. Peugeot will start selling the 508 in sedan and wagon (SW) bodystyles from the beginning of 2011 following its public debut at the 2010 Paris International Motor Show in October. Europe will get a French-built model while China will market its own built-in-China version.

    French GTI unveiled

Peugeot has pulled the curtains of the 308 GTI and it has been more than 10 years since the French marquee brought out a GTI in this class of vehicle. The Peugeot 308 GTi will be powered by the same 1.6 litre THP, 200ps engine that will be featured in the RCZ coupe model, making it a credible competitor to the VW Golf GTI, which pumps out 211ps. The THP engine which is fitted with a twin-Scroll turbocharger and a high pressure direct-injection system with Variable valve and timing injection technology, produces 275 Nm of torque. It come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes 7.7 seconds while fuel consumption is rated at 6.9 liters/100 km and CO2 emission is 159 g/km. A sound system technology has also been employed to make sure the engine rumble provides for just the right sporty sound that customers will be looking for. The GTI

    Peugeot "5" concept car

Peugeot will be unveiling an almost production ready version their upcoming 508 sedan at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The new model will replace the 407 and 607 beginning in 2011. The 5 by Peugeot Concept car is a 200bhp, all-wheel drive luxury sedan that comes with the French brand's Hybrid4 technology. The concept car features a 2.0 liter Hdi diesel engine with 163bhp, coupled to an electric motor (at the rear) with an additional 37bhp. Fuel economy is 3.8 liters/100km and the car's total emissions come in at 99 g/km (zero when running on electrical power alone.). Design-wise, the model seems to borrow a little from the C6 from sister brand Citroen with its sleek lines and round ends. LED lights and 19-inch rims are also featured in the 5, helping to make its total look seem more production-ready than pure concept fantasy. We can expect Peugeot to show us the production ready model at the Paris Motor Show this September.
  20. - a Peugeot 107 The Toyota recall debacle over its faulty accelerator pedal has spread its wings. We now find out that thousands of Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1 are being recalled. According to sources, up to a hundred thousand units in total could be affected. The reason for this is that both models are based on a Toyota. The Toyota Aygo. - Citroen C1 - Toyota Aygo Amazing what all of this platform sharing technology has gotten car manufacturers into. While platform sharing saves cost, allowing two or three different manufacturers to produce their own variants of the same car, we now know that defects may be shared due to parts sharing. All three cars are manufactured in Czechoslovakia (most probably for Europe/ left hand drive markets) in the same factory. Toyota is recalling up to 1.8 million cars all over Europe aside from the few million affected over in the United States and China. On another note, Honda would recall close to 650,000 of its Fit/Jazz and City models, including 140,000 in the United States, because of a faulty window switch, after a child died when fire broke out in a car last year. The years affected are the 2007-2008 models of which an overlap of the new and the old Fit/Jazz models took place. In other words, if you bought the last batch of Fit, Jazz or City, your car may be subject to the recall. Unless yours is a grey import Japan manufactured model which according to Honda isn't affected by all this drama. The thing is, to date (10.00am Monday 1st Feb), there have been no official press release on Kah Motors Honda Singapore on its official website. I'd suggest potential 'victims' of this problem contact the nearest Honda service center as soon as it is possible. Imagine a little short circuit causing your Honda to burst into flames. - If you own this Honda, you may want to make a visit to your neighborhood Honda Service Center. It is now time for all of the above car manufacturers to get into damage control mode and really stop the bleeding. Aside from a damaged reputation, an example of the monetary amount that could be lost from this matter, the National Automobile Dealers Association of America estimates that their Toyota dealers could lose up to US$2.5 billion in revenue and another few hundred million in recall fixes. Imagine the stock market losses too.
  21. Hi all, i like the shape and ride of the peugeot 307 and intend to buy one. However i read on reviews in UK that this car is a lemon, and breaks down easily. Is this true? Any owners to verify, thanks.
  22. The Peugeot SR1 hybrid 2+1 seater roadster concept that will be displayed for the first time at the upcoming 2010 Geneva Salon in March marks the stylistic design trends for the brand's future models. This concept car showcases the firm's new design language that abandons the chunky shapes and the much criticized gaping-mouth grille of the current Peugeots in favor of more elegant and sharper looks that hark back to the Pininfarina-era Pugs. On a closer look, it bears a passing resemblance to Aston Martin's Vantage V8. The SR1's interior is pure concept, though we might see the driver-orientated center console making its way into Peugeot's future production models. The roadster can seat up to three in a 2+1 layout with the rear seat mounted centrally. The roadster is powered by Peugeot's HYbrid4 technology, which will be available in the company's 3008 crossover from 2011. A front-mounted 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a power output of 218 bhp is combined with a rear electric motor developing 95 bhp. Such figures sound like ingredients for sporty performance to me. Peugeot states that in electric mode only, the SR1 consumes only 4.9L of petrol per 100km and Carbon Dioxide emission level is at an environmentally caring 119 g/km. I can't wait to see the photos of the actual model in 2 months' time. It looks like pure driving fun need not cost the Earth!
  23. Hi All, If I am looking for parts and accessories for peugoet cars, which shop in Singapore that i could likely find some? Specifically, i am looking for Angle eyes headlamp and LED tail lights. Thanks in advance. cheers, knht
