I went to Komoco today (10-10-05) to change my woodgrain central console panel for my matrix (claim warranty, because had cracks on my present central console panel). The technician fixed the panel in my presence... to my horror, in the process of doing so, he used a flat screw driver and damged my HU... he left two dents at the side of the HU, apparently he used the screw driver to pry my HU, so he can fix the panel. My HU was bought 9 days ago (the actual cost of the HU is $570)... I paid $420 after trading in my old HU... I spoke to the customer service assistant manager on the spot, he refer me to the manager of the sub-contractor who is responsible for fixing accessories. He said komoco is not liable for damages, but the contractor. My foot, my knowledge of law tells me that komoco has a duty of care, even he sub-contract the work to others! Anyway, the sub-contractor manager assessed the damages and apologised and agreed to pay $80 as settlement. I refused! I told him that he either gave me a new set or pay me $500. Nothing less, no compromise! He said he will get back to me tomorrow... Whats your opinion of this incident? I'll make sure I'll blow up this matter if they try to be funny...

Hi gurus both approx $300+ which is a better buy? not intending to add any amp.. jus stock rear speakers... changin to dad's old 6' component front any recomendations? not really into ice jus changin 2din(kenwood 4050) to single din to accomodate RSM is there any difference upon changing to a better HU? considerin no amps, stock speakers? lastly any recommeded place to buy & install? My friend driving a 1998 Mitsubishi Pajero Mini had a old Pioneer DEH 1080 SDP installed. Recently the player stop responding, no power at all. He went to an audio shop for diagnosis, the shop say his old HU is spoilt and asked him to purchase a new HU. He paid $20 for the diagnosis. But nothing was done, my friend not sure whether his price is ex, so never buy. So he bought a new HU, Pioneer DEH 7750 but not from that shop but from my friend's shop reccomended by me at $400 including 1 year warranty. He asked me to help him install. I opened up his dash and take a look at the wirings. His black cable(HU) from the old pioneer wiring harness is broken. This is the ground wire for the player. I look around and saw a green wire with white lines (only car's wire not connected), I connect this to the black ground wire of the HU, thinking green/white(car) is the ground wire, it works, the old SDP can work. Its not spoilt, only the ground dropped. Then I pluck out the old HU's wire harness and use the new wire harness. The reason I never use the same harness is becos the socket is different physically, the shape of the plastic clip, the wires is in the same position though. I connect the new Pioneer HU's Power cable(yellow), Ignition Cable(red), Ground Cable(black) (to the green/white as above) and the speaker's cables exactly the same as what is connected to the old wiring harness in the pioneer HU (same color code between new and old model). The only different is the old HU's wiring harness do not have an orange/white cable which is ILLUM. Old HU dont have this don't have this function whereby you can switch on headlight and the HU's display illumination dim. So I left the orange/white cable unconnected and blacked taped. Another unconnected cable is the blue/white cable which is the Remote Turn On, this is unused becos my friend's system do not have amps or preamps. Then just now my friend sms me say his HU is as normal but his car's speedometer and rpm meter and instrument meter light doesnt turn on. But Headlight and fog light and brake light perform as usual. Only internal dash board light is not on. Now I suspect the green/white cable (car) is the ILLUM wire which I should connect to the orange/white(HU). I am not sure, so I post here. I do not have a test pen to test the voltages. I read from other forums and internet search says Mitsubishi car's audio wires do not include Ground wire, normally people tap to some screw or car's body, is it true? Can the mitsubishi owners here clarify? My friend super blur one, he doesnt even know where is the fuse box inside his car. I wanted him to check the fuse box to see whether the instrument display fuse has fused or whether is really the connection that is wrong. He will be coming to my house later to let me troubleshoot. I hope I can get some confirmation before i connect the green/white(car) to orange/white(HU) and black ground(HU) to screws that I can find inside the dash.

Just installed a Pioneer 7450 HU in my car using stock (Pioneer) speakers. I have no plans to install any Amps and/or subwoofer. The sound now is not too bad but perhaps it could be better if I upgrade my front and perhaps rear speakers. Anyone has good speaker recommendations to work with the Pioneer HU ?

Was recommended Clarion DXZ856MP when I was looking for Pioneer 8650. Is it a good set? Pioneer 9650 had so much features, but will Clarion DXZ856MP win in term of sound quality? What do you think? I'd just changed my H/U to a Pioneer. However due to a recent rewiring of my stabiliser, the battery was disconnected and prior tuning (by the installer) is gone. Is there anyone well versed with the terminology? I read the manual, but it seems all greek to me, with regards to q and bass 63/80/100 values... Could someone explain it? or better yet help me out during one of the meetups?

Hi,wanna know is there any sound quality different between these two set of Pioneer HU? I know that from spec, DEH-5750 and DEH-7750 is the same except for the OLED display. Currently my setup is Pioneer 3550 with 2 Twisters amps (500W and 400W) with Accoustic pre-amp, 1 x 10' subwoofer in a box, 1 set of rear component Twister speaker with cross-over and 1 set of front Rainbow component speaker with cross-over too. The sound is loud and good ( I did soundproof) but the clarity seem like not there. My HU is already 1.5 years liao and it is the first few generation of mp3 HU. Only have pre-set mode (SuperBass, Powerful and etc, and 1 custom setting)

Hi, I'm currently thinking of getting the Pioneer 7750 to replace my stock HU. Any comments / reviews on this head unit? Or any bros out there got can recommend alternative HUs(budget $400) that i can consider? Can anybody also recommend a component speaker with pretty good bass n clarity? Budget ard $300+...the CDT CL 62 speakers rank pretty high on my list from comments by other ppl...though i haven't tested them yet... Plan to add amps and subwoofer in future too...but currently only have enough budget for head unit n front components... Any comments would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance!

Due to a stuck CD-changer (been like that for 3 months already), I finally brought it for repairs only to be told that I may as well just buy a new HU with MP3 functions. I was advised that it is not worth it to repair my CD changer as there is no guarantee that the problem will not come back again. Eventually, I took the plunge and got the HU mentioned in the subject and got a pair of tweeters as I was guaranteed a vast improvement in the sound department. What a bl00dy difference it made and it was the best 400 bucks (traded in the old system) I spent! Even though I didn't get the top of the range stuff as I'm not into ICE at all, I still thought the difference was well worth it. Just want to share my experience with others who may be in the same situation.
