Uber drivers are not allowed to deduct any expenses, even petrol, right? So they are basically paying income tax on their entire revenue? I understand that most Uber drivers do it as a side business. But is it possible for a full time uber driver to make more than a full time taxi driver (after tax)? For comparison sake, assuming the exact same trips on the exact same day and exact same time, just one is taxi, one is uber. Can commercial vehicles be used for Uber? Eg. P-plate passenger vehicles, as well as double-cabin goods vehicles? Also, is Grab abusing the Research and development vehicle scheme? I see a lot of RD-plate Grab vehicles on the road carrying passengers. They have many of these RD-plate Grab vehicles parked at their rental place in Jalan Pemimpin. Is Grab abusing this scheme so as to deduct their expenses and pay less tax?

Hi all, I just wondering if we can register a passenger van ( Merc Vito or the Renault) as a S-plate vehicle to ferry 10 of our family in comfort.. priority is towards safety for the family and comfort.. I asked C&C and they have the Vianos (8 seater), but too ex ($195K), but the salesman say can register the diesel version as S-plate and no need pay diesel levy ($6-9k), but the road tax at $4k a yr Any bros or sis have this same dilemma? Whats your best choice vehicle as a big family carry all? Thanks for reading and your kind response.. -
We have SBA - SBZ less 'I' and 'O' SCA - SCZ less less 'C', 'D', 'I' and 'O' SFA - SFZ less 'I' and 'O' SGA - SGZ less 'I' and 'O' SJA - SJZ less 'I' and 'O' SKA - SKF as of now Anyone know why there is no "SCC" and "SCD"? also why they skip SE series? Anyone have any idea After the SK series, will it be SL or SN series? SM series is taken by SMRT bus. SBS is for SBS Transit of course.

I have the following scenario to transfer the car plate which I can't seems to find out the exact procedure over the net.. I have 2 cars both under my name. Let's say I wanna transfer car A plate to car B, and car B to regenerate a new plate, how much will the cost be and how should I go around doing it? I believe this kind of job is a few mouse clicks away and I dun feel like paying a dealer 100++ just to do this job. Anyone have transfer plate like my scenario before?

Saw this at SK pool. Could not exit the gantry and had passenger get down to insert cashcard. It seems like a valid Q plate car. However it is invalid in onemotoring car transfer check. Any ideas?

Just to understand whether if my dad's car number plate can be transferred to my name? Just ordered a new car and wanted to transfer to my new car. The bidded number was bidded by me but the current car is registered to my dad as my insurance when I was in my early 20s is too high. Any advice on the procedures?

Bidding for Own License Plate and Rebate from AD

Seeking advice from those that have done this before .... 1. I'm planning to bid for my own car license plate number. 2. AD usually include 6 mths road tax, license plate etc in car price Questions : a. If I bid for my own plate number, what kind of rebates can I expect from AD? b. Do I need to inform SE before he bids COE on my behalf or only when car is ready for registration? Appreciate all advice. Thanks ! -
when you are dealing with OPC, esp related to number plate, it is a pain, due to the security seal. was told to replace this during inspection. but to replace means i gotta spend $200 to get the seal broken at LTA, replace the plates then go back to LTA to reapply the seal. that is extremely expensive for plate replacement. are there cheaper alternative besides hand painting the numbers with white paint? i heard of stickers. but scared those will peel after awhile. and BTW, how much does those stickers cost? any idea? Any advise is welcomed.

Dear all, I am driving an OPC and got hit from behind recently in KL, Malaysia. As a result, the rear panel and bumper were dented and the OPC car number plate bracket was detached. Note that the number plate seal is fine, just that the metal bracket (a rod) connecting car plate from inside the bumper which was welded to the car body got detached at the welded part. Since the accident happened in KL, the other party has offered to pay for a workshop to repair my bumper at her cost. However, I would like to know if its ok to just weld back the car plate bracket without applying the permission from LTA since I do not need to break the car plate seal. Also, is there any standards governing the bracket welding? I don't want the LTA to say that i have tempered the car plate in my next inspection when they see that the welding is new. Appreciate if any bros or sis here can advise on this matter if you happen to know about the car plate seal bracket welding. Singapore workshop has advised me to replaced the whole bumper and that requires approval from LTA to break the number plate seal while malaysia workshop can just patch the bumper crack for me but they have no idea how to handle the car plate seal. The other party is a Malay auntie, and she didn't tailgate, it just happened that she was observing the main road traffic while trying to filter out but failed to check whether I have already filtered out. So I don't want her to pay so much. It'll be a lot cheaper for the other party to pay for the damage (SGD1k vs RM600). Any advise is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Can one of you kind souls help me on this? Despite reading the Wikipedia page numerous times I still cannot derive or understand the check digit calculation of my vehicle. Using the example quoted in Wiki, how do they derive the "6 fixed numbers as (9, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2)"? and why are the 19 characters used quoted in this order?? (A, Z, Y, X, U, T, S, R, P, M, L, K, J, H, G, E, D, C, B) where A=0, Z=1, etc... Can anyone make this Wiki page a lot clearer to understand for a layman? Hi, Wish to seek some advise on this. It had been 3 weeks ever since i got my ride, i notice our local drivers are rather reckless and impatient. Once again, i encounter this issue. Once again, it arise from overtaking encounters. Yesterday, on the road at boon keng, signal left in order to go to PIE Tuas entrance. This driver on the left lane does not want to give way.. I slowed down, he also did the same. and when i accelerated, he too did the same.. when i cut into his lane, he honk me.. and for this, he tailgate me with his high beam for a long distance... lastly, he overtake me and show his middle finger at me.. Since i considered a newbie.. i been thinking if it's my err.. and was rather shaky ever since as it could arise into an accident.. Was wonder if a probation plate display, would it give more grace to other drivers since my driving skill is poor and my speed is slow.

Was just wondering if getting a new plate when buying a second hand car makes sense. Else, the previous owner maybe chalking up fines OR has paid fines but the record is not clean off.

I saw a Toyota Innova that bears QR plate with Malaysia road tax sticker. A quick check reveals that it was a Sarawak registered car. I am toying with the idea of driving my car to East Malaysia for a road trip. Anybody knows how or done it before? Should be by ferry, right? Cheers

Scenario: My old car going to scrap. I am buying a 2nd hand car. I retain my old car number. I want to sell the 2nd hand car number Then I want to use back my retained number on the 2nd hand car. Can be done? If so, how to go about doing it? I know I can go to onemotoring to retain number. Just not sure about the selling part.

Hi bros, I'm planning to buy a plate number from a third party dealer for my new car. 1) Usually is the price stated on the web negotiable ? if yes, the discount is in the region of ? 2) If my new car is only coming in sometime in September/October 2015, can i hold the plate number for that long? 3) Any other things that i have to take note of ?
