These cards will be held by all regular, volunteer and full time national service police officers, operationally ready police national servicemen and auxiliary police officers, the police said in a statement on Monday (29 Feb). When the warrant card is tilted at an angle, it will show the holographic word “POLICE” below an officer’s photograph. The right side of the card will also show five holographic police crests. 5. http://therealsingapore.com/content/unprofessional-policing-singapore-traffic-police UNPROFESSIONAL POLICING BY THE SINGAPORE TRAFFIC POLICE Post date: 7 Feb 2014 - 8:05am Dear The Real Singapore, I sent the following letter to the Singapore Police Force, but I did not hear from them ever since: On 7 January 2014, the Traffic Police was conducting roadblock operation along Lavender Road. My father’s car was stopped for a Breath Evidential Analyser test at 12.20am. It turned out to be the most bizarre incident and was absolutely humiliating for my father because your officers refused to listen. My father failed the Breathalyzer test, and only upon deep recall did my dad remember that the last thing that went into his mouth was a mouthwash -Listerine – of which its main content are water and alcohol. He has not had a drop of alcohol in the last 60 years of his life. Your officers may not know this and that is fine, but please listen when someone is making a legitimate request. My father asked for a 15-minute rest before doing a second confirmation test but his request was denied, and the officer insisted on bringing my dad back to the Traffic Police Headquarters. This was done in a manner that was completely rude, completely unprofessional. As much as I understand that it is the official procedure for doing so, I would like to bring to attention that, in a circumstance where a driver had in fact consumed excessive alcohol, a 15-minute gap would not have made a significant difference and he would still be nabbed. On the flip side, for someone without alcohol consumption like in my father’s case, this 15-minute spiraled into an unnecessary 3-hour investigation of nothingness. At the station, the second Breathalyzer test at 1.36am gave a result of zero (.000/100ml). However, my dad was not released until approximately an hour later. This hour of locking up needs explanation. A total of three hours spent on investigating what turned out to be a Breathalyzer reading of zero is far from being efficient. I believe our police officers can do better than this. Traffic police officers on duty should be more discerning and flexible, and should carry out their duties on a case-by-case basis. I hope traffic police officers are now well aware that mouth alcohol (inclusive of vomit, burp, acid reflux, dentures and mouthwash) could cause one to fail the Breathalyzer test too, but that does not mean breaking the law. I urge the relevant authorities to make amendments to their current procedures so that it takes into consideration the above. The Singapore Police Force is often lauded for their stellar performance in handling high-profile cases. However, when it comes down to the daily operations, it is disappointing to learn that there exists such incompetency and insensitivity. I would want to remind this officer that roadblocks are done for a purpose. The purpose is to ensure road safety, to ensure no innocent victims get into an accident. The purpose is not for police officers to act suave and forceful towards innocent drivers. We request for you to find out who this officer is and provide us with an explanation for the humiliating experience. We want to see actions taken against this officer. Roadblocks are a must, but irresponsible officers with no passion and knowledge of their job are not required. We seek a decent answer and compensation for the absolutely humiliating experience. Letty TRS Contributor Another whiner from the TRS. The government should ban this site for spreading discontentment. Such a kuk-ku complain and you still have pple agreeing in the comments section. KNS.
  6. I read from the websites that parking offences seem to be under the purview of HDB and URA. So how does the traffic police fit into the picture? Apologies if this question is too stupid...

Example (in below case), if its a new homeowner where the previous owner was the borrower... how does damaging the new owner's property help the loanshark get his money back?? http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/loan-sharks-flaunt-destructive-artwork-threaten-homeowner Loan sharks flaunt destructive 'artwork' to threaten homeowner Saturday, Oct 26, 2013 SINGAPORE - A Stomp contributor Anonymous received a threatening letter from a loan shark after moving into a new resale flat. Anonymous wrote: "I am the new owner of a resale flat and have been receiving threats and many occasions of paint splash on my door. "Today I received a professionally-printed letter with previous cases of the loan shark's 'artworks' as a warning that it will happen to Ang Mo Kio estate if the previous owner didn't pay up. "It even challenged us to report it to the police. "It looks like the recent crackdown on loan sharks were not effective enough and these people are bold enough to display their 'works' and challenge the Police!"

  10. This was a protest in Brazil. A policeman's cap got accidentally knocked off by the banner of the protestors. It was clearly and accident. However, the Policeman lifts up his weapon and SHOOTS one protestor at close range! Ouch. Police brutality? It was a rubber bullet, but still. At that range, it could be lethal. Check out the video.
  11. ( . )( . ) can be a dangerous weapon hor .... Yahoo news: Woman Found Guilty Of ‘Assaulting Police Officer With Her Breasts’ A woman has been convicted of assaulting a police officer with her breasts during a violent protest in Hong Kong. Ng Lai-ying was taking part in a demonstration against parallel trading on the streets of Yuen Long in March this year when the incident is said to have took place. The 30-year-old claimed that Chief Inspector Chan had tried to grab her bag but instead touched her left breast. However, Inspector Chan insisted that it was Lai-ying who bumped her breasts onto his arm before falsely accusing him of assault. The magistrate sided with Chan, telling Lai-ying: “You used your female identity to trump up the allegation that the officer had molested you.” He added that her “malicious” claims were damaging to Chan’s reputation. Pictures following her arrest show Lai-ying with a bleeding nose and she accused police of pushing her to the ground. The magistrate said that officers policing protests “should be protected”, adding: "There were two groups of people expressing different points of view at the protest. “Without police officers there to maintain order, it is not surprising that there was commotion, or even clashes.” Yai-ling will be sentenced later this month. link: https://sg.news.yahoo.com/woman-found-guilty-of-assaulting-police-officer-074912219.html

  16. http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2015/06/27/Hitandrun-driver-forgiven-Cops-focus-on-the-positives-after-crash/ KUALA LUMPUR: Sporting dark glasses to cover up their blackened eyes, the policemen who were rear-ended by a student in a viral hit-and-run video say they have already forgiven the driver. Kpl Zainal Abu Bee Din and Kpl Nor Alhayari Buyong said they would rather focus on the positi ves that came out of the accident. “We were not badly hurt. We have been injured much worse than this before. Luckily, the boy only hit us and not anyone else. “And we saw how quickly people were willing to help us. One motorcyclist chased after the Volkswagen after he ran and another gave us his video of the accident to help in the investigation,” said Kpl Nor Alhayari, 58. The two Mobile Patrol Vehicle partners were out on their rounds at about 8.55am on Wednesday in an underpass in Jalan Pudu when they were hit from behind by the student in a blue Volkswagen Polo. The student braked for a fleeting second before stepping on the gas pedal, pushing the skidding police car into a concrete barrier before speeding off. “We were totally caught by surprise. We were just talking in the car. I was checking my phone and then all of a sudden, BANG!” Kpl Zainal said. Kpl Nor Alhayari gripped his wheel tighter to stop the car from overturning as the Volkswagen’s hood dug into the bottom of the police car and lifted its two back wheels. Kpl Zainal, 50, was cut in his right eye while his partner hit the dashboard. Despite their injuries, Kpl Zainal was back patrolling the streets on Thursday while Kpl Nor Alhayari hung out in the Dang Wangi police station after being given medical leave. The officers said the student was returning from a night club party the evening before the accident. “He messaged us later that day to apologise, and we both accept. “I did not want to reply to him because you know how people can take what we say and try to make us look bad on the Internet. “So, we just accept the apology and move on,” Kpl Zainal said, adding that the Volkswagen in question had already had three accidents before this. The student was charged yesterday and pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol.
  17. from Nov 1..... haha good news or bad news ? More jobs created to summon us ! Great , just what we need , TP turns "ANGEL" Wed, Sep 15, 2010 Soon, you will no longer see a Traffic Police (TP) officer booking vehicles for illegal parking offences. From Nov 1, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be taking over five functions from the TP the duty of enforcement against illegal parking offences. The government statutory board will be empowered to close roads or lane for repair, alongside issuing permits for vehicle loads and the use of excluded vehicles such as mixers, on expressways. LTA will also be gazetting speed limits on roads. The functions above were identified as in line with LTA's role to manage road usage, said Mr Colin Lin, LTA?s acting group director for vehicle and transit licensing. The Commander of Traffic Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cheang Keng Keong, said the transfer of duties will allow them to better focus on their core functions such as enforcement against unsafe driving behaviour. Upon taking over the enforcement of illegal parking, LTA will deploy traffic wardens, auxiliary police officers and its own uniformed enforcement officers to carry out the function. LTA's enforcement procedures will be similar to those of the TP. There will be no change to the penalties for illegal parking offences. Members of the public can call LTA's hotline 1800-CALL LTA (2255 582) on illegal parking matters from Nov 1. TP will continue their enforcement action against speeding offences. Issuing permits for carrying of loads on vehicles LTA will take over the issuing of permits for over sized vehicles to travel on the roads. Vehicle owners or drivers can make use of LTA's on-line portal, LTA.PROMPT, to submit their applications. The details of the application process will be made available to the relevant stakeholders closer to the date of takeover. More details on any changes in procedures affecting members of the public will be available on www.onemotoring.com.sg and https://prompt.lta.gov.sg nearer to 1 November 2010. Members of the public may also call the LTA hotline at 1800-CALL LTA (2255 582) for more information.

  21. (DUBAI) The city that boasts the world's tallest building is equipping its police with US$400,000 (S$495,000) Lamborghini sports cars that Dubai's deputy police chief says are in keeping with the Gulf capital's image. They also go fast, since according to the website of Lamborghini, an affiliate of the Volkswagen Group, all the Italian company's cars reach 100km/h in well under six seconds. Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina said that a fleet of Lamborghinis, each estimated to cost around US$400,000, had been obtained by the Dubai police for use at main tourist sites. "The aim is to reflect the reputation of the emirate and the high stature it achieved," Mazeina said. "It will also help promote tourism and showcase the security role the Dubai police plays in safeguarding the city," he added. The vehicles will be deployed at the downtown area near the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa tower, the Mohammed Rashid Boulevard as well as the cafe- and restaurant-lined walk of the Jumeirah Beach Residence, one of the most popular waterfront developments in Dubai. Photos of the vehicles published in local media in the United Arab Emirates showed a green-and-white vehicle decorated with the Dubai police insignia on the front hood. Dubai, one of seven emirates in the UAE federation, is staging a recovery from the financial crisis it suffered during the global financial crisis in 2009. The emirate recently has announced several major projects, including a huge tourism and retail development with the largest shopping mall in the world.
  22. M'sian undergrad claims cops raped her after catching her having sex in car Quote: Two cops were arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping and blackmailing a 19-year-old university student, Malaysian police said. The teen lodged a report on Saturday, claiming the duo took advantage of her after catching her and her boyfriend having sex in a car on Jan 26. Assistant Commissioner Azmi Abu Kassif said the victim claimed she was made to get into the police vehicle with one officer. The other officer got into her boyfriend's car. "The victim claimed that while in the police car, the officer had asked her to give him RM2,000 (S$745) to let her go. "The victim agreed and the officer dropped her and her boyfriend by the roadside. She said the officers then took down her contact details," he said. Raped her in toilet The student said she received a call later that day from the one of the officers who demanded that she pay up. ACP Azmi said the girl alleged that the officer picked her up from her hostel, drove her to a nearby mall and forced her to perform oral sex on him in his car. "She said he later took her to a toilet in the mall and raped her. He said if she didn’t do as he asked, he would arrest her." According to the victim’s report, the officer didn’t stop there. The girl claimed the man has been calling her up the past week to demand sex again. "Upon receiving the report, we arrested the two officers on Sunday." Source: The Star
