  1. Few months back, my car windscreen is badly chipped so I changed the whole windscreen at a NTUC authorized workshop. Looks as per normal but I notice air seep in from all edges of the windscreen when I travel at high speed (>120 km/h) in NSHW recently. Does not happen at all before the change. It's very obvious, very loud air sound through the front. Loud till can get irritated. Is there a way to fix it, as in improve the sealing of windscreen, either workshop or DIY.
  2. Recently I was thinking of changing the gear shift knob, because the factory fitted one is ugly and a bit longish for my liking. This morning I was just testing out how to remove the existing gear knob, I found that by turning anti-clockwise I can totally remove it. But what's even more surprising is that the factory fitting knob isn't turned all the way down, it can turn clockwise and down somemore. So I just kept turning it down a couple more rounds until it can't turn anymore, and end up with a rather short gear shift lever. Of course it still can't beat a real good short shifter as a short shifter throw is much shorter (that's why it's called that). But I guess that will do for now, and I'll be shopping for a nicer gear knob for a while.
  3. An irresponsible owner closed down his shop and abandoned these dogs. One of the silky terrier was so sick & he never take good care of it . 4. STOMPer jkrowling saw this L-plate car, which was apparently rammed from behind. The STOMPer said drivers should be more careful when speeding behind such cars. Said the STOMPer: "Poor learner driver, how could any driver miss this L-plate car and ram into it even though everyone knows that L-plate cars will travel slower? "If you want to drive faster, don't stand behind a tortoise!" the dent is quite bad
  5. Was coming home and saw this Black accord at the junction of YCK road and Serangoon North. Totally GONE CASE. His radiator water leaking, 4 tyres burst and resting on the rims, bumper fly everywhere. From the direction, I think he wanted to kup that right turn coming from YCK road. Pls look out for a black or whatever Accord CL7 in the second hand market. The car , in my humble opinion, should be written off. Engine totally gone!
  6. I am a new st*rHub broadband user. Subscribe to their 2Mb plan few months ago. For the pass 1 month, i have been experiencing very lousy download speed during peak hours (evening on weekday and whole day on weekend). Basically, their mobile broadband service could be worst than a 56K dial-up modem. sometimes, I either have to wait for a few minutes to load a webpage, or even worst, I cannot even load a page successfully. When I tried to test my speed at speedtest.net, my download speed is only recorded at 0.14Mb/s and upload speed at 0.01Mb/s speed test result: I complained to the ISP and they said they will check on this matter. After waiting for a few days, i call back and check out the result. They claim that there is not issue with the signal and bandwith at the area I complained. I told that to check on the hours I complained and they said they will investigate and get back to me. in the end, no one came back to me and I made a few nasty complain every few days. I told them that Im not going to pay for such lousy service. in the 1st place, if i can use a 56K dialup service which is faster & more constant for free, why should i pay for $19.90 lousy service?? They allow me to change my plan to another home broadband plan without any penalty... i ask them how reliable is their home broadband, can they, at least promise to deliver a constant speed at 1/4 of their advertised speed? The officer said they cant, its depends on the number of user sharing the bandwith at my area. I told them that its not a solution, its basically replacing one problem with another problem! In the 1st place, why are they advertising such high speed and in the end, such speed cannot be constantly attained? and worst still, st*rhub do not even confident to deliver a constant 1/4 of the advertised speed? They finally give in and told me that Im allow to terminate their service without any penalty. im now in the middle to search for another alternate ISP. Can someone recomend me a home or mobile ISP that is reliable and able to achieve a constant broadband. I dont expect to hit the max speed all the time. What Im asking for is simply a service that can achieve CONSTANTLY 1/4 of the advertised speed ... hope my expectation is not too high...
  7. Mod, pls delete, I am having problem with my ISP service and posting 3 topic of the same subject. Sorry for any inconvinient caused.

  9. Hi all, Few of my friends who are more successful in business ventures have accumulated enough wealth that they don't require their sons/daughter to support them. To them, their wealth are not their children wealth. Some stopped giving financial assistance as soon as their kids grown up. For example, they share the same roof, living in landed property, owned a S-class or 7 series but Son drives a Hyundai Getz and daughter drives a Toyota Vios. The parent will not lend money to the kids, some even wanted to charge the kids rental. Good or bad? Regards,

    Rich and Poor

is it fated whether a person in this life becomes poor or rich? there are ITE people earning more than degree holders. there are degree holders poorer than O level holders. Fann wong and Zoe Tay only have Sec education but they are earning big bucks. even a NTU/NUS graduate with 1st class honour also lose to them. is this destiny?

Lorry overturns after crashing into barrier It collides with van before hitting metal fence July 03, 2009 SHE was driving along Braddell Road when she heard a bang at the back of the van. Madam Ho See Luan, 55, a vegetable supplier, said: 'Then the van shook violently. I stopped the van on the right lane to check what happened.' It turned out that a lorry had collided into the back of her van at about 2.45pm yesterday afternoon . Madam Ho was on her way home from her workplace in Bukit Batok. She lives in Serangoon. Her husband, who declined to be named, was in the van with her. When Madam Ho and her husband got out of the van, they saw that a police car was already there. ]>>This is Singapore Police efficiency for you! Get out of car, police already there! SOLID...give the police a Tiger! 'We saw a large blue lorry had crashed through the metal barrier and overturned on the centre divider,' she said. SHOCKED: Madam Ho says her van shook violently. 'The police officers were helping the driver out of the lorry.' Madam Ho said she was driving at not more than 60 kmh when the accident happened. 'I drive along this road every day, and there are always many cars on this road so it's hard to drive faster than that,' she said. ' I didn't even see the lorry in my rearview mirror.' When The New Paper arrived at the scene at about 3.30pm, paramedics were attending to the lorry driver. A police spokesman said they got a call at about 2.45pm about an accident involving a van and a lorry along Braddell Road, towards Bartley Road. The lorry driver, a man in his early 40s, was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital with injuries. Police investigations are ongoing. The police are appealing for witnesses to call the Traffic Police Hotline at 1800-5471818. Han Su-Ying, newsroom intern

  17. Following revelations by the President of the Association of Criminal Lawyers in Singapore that the laws here, don't seem to be applied fairly and equally to all irregardless of wealth status or political standings which was quickly rebuffed by the present AG. Not withstanding whether there was indeed a marsupial hopping around the court yard , if the above was indeed true to a certain extent ..what then must be done to correct it?
  18. During the Hari Raya holiday, I was cruising on the PIE from Bedok towards town. Beside me was my date and I have no other passengers. Barely 5 minutes on the expressway, a lorry was blocking me on lane 2. I know my car is not a speedster, so I waited for a chance to overtake the lorry which was going quite fast at 70 kmph. When lane 1 was clear, I stepped on the accelerator and began to overtake the lorry slowly. Out of nowhere, came this Redplate black Sunny SJJ6xx5 came up tailgating me. Comeon man, I'm doing my best overtaking the lorry! This redplate Sunny driven by a young Malay chap with a girl beside him is very impatient. He thinks his spoiler is very cool and his car is very fast. After I managed to slowly overtake the lorry and filter back to Lane 2, he still not happy. He weave in and out to get beside me at to Lane 3, gestured me to winddown the window and shouted "Poor Is It? Buy China Van! Next time DON'T HOG!" Or something like that. Sheesh! Sunny very fast meh? Sunny very sporty meh! Big deal!

  21. I was watching the Channel 8 news, showing the predicaments of some old folks staying in 1-room HDB flats. I was shocked to hear that the HDB people have sealed (with cement) the ventilation holes of the units along the corridor. I used to stay in a 1-room HDB flat when I was a small kid. With the ventilation holes along the corridor, it was already very stuffy. I can't imagine having these ventilation holes completely sealed. When it rains, the windows in the unit need to be closed and there will be no ventilation. It is as good as staying in a store-room. The poor folks staying in the 1-room flat can't afford the additional electricity for fans, not to mention air-conditioner. The old folks had grouped together to petition for the removal of these cement seal. But the spokesman replied that they have decided to seal these ventilation holes because there have been one case of fire spread from one unit to the other, through these holes. Their petition was not accepted. Poor folks. I hope the person who insisted on this implementation could spend a night in these units to understand the predicaments faced.
  22. My friend bought a 3 year old E46 318i, and the car seems to run well, mileage is about 70K .... the only issue is that the fuel consumption is really bad, about 7km/L on octane 98 and 6.5 km/l on octane 95. He has not owned a BMW before and is shocked about the poor FC of the car. Is it possible the car is naturally underpowered ? Any suggestions what to do ?
  23. 330,000 taxpayers will not need to file tax returns By Chua Hian Hou PUBLIC servant Sandra Seah was pleasantly surprised - for once - to get a mail from the taxman recently. The letter informed the 33-year-old that she need not have to file her tax returns as the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (Iras) has all the information to assess her taxes. This tax season, 332,000, or one in five taxpayers, will get their income tax assessed automatically. Following a pilot run of 45,000 taxpayers last year, Iras has extended its No-Filing Service to these 332,000 taxpayers this year. Letters informing these taxpayers that they do not have to file their tax returns were sent out by Iras in the last few weeks. Most of them typically work for companies that submit employees' pay directly to the Iras, and have a regular history of tax relief and income sources. About 7,500 companies here employing about 1.4 million staff send salary information to Iras directly, although not all are required to file tax returns. Based on this data, Iras will assess the taxes payable, said Iras' deputy commissioner for individual group James Khor. Those who wish to check or make changes to their tax returns, such as claiming relief for a child born last year or declaring additional rental income, can do so via Iras' e-filing website or through their income tax assessment forms. Iras said it has received about 3,000 calls and e-mail queries since it sent out the no-filing notification letters. Of these, 800 wanted to be 'reassured' that the letter was not a hoax, said Mr Khor. Taxpayers who do not file their tax returns, or who file them late, may be fined. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $1,000. Iras intends to extend the new service to more taxpayers over time, said Mr Khor. Eventually, only self-employed taxpayers, and those with irregular, untaxed income sources like rental income, will have to continue to file tax returns every year. Ordinarily, about 1.5 million people are required to file tax returns, out of a total full-time and part-time working population of 2.7 million. The remaining 1.2 million workers earn less than $22,000 annually, and as such do not have to file tax returns. All online tax returns must be completed by April 18, while hard-copy tax forms must be sent to Iras by April 15. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...ory_213143.html warouz... dun file means too poor bite also no meat. IRAS also duwan waste their time on her deh. dunno why she still so happy..
