  1. If you were to claim your own insurance, how much would your base premium be increased the following year? Any general agaration (eg: $250 for every 1k claimed, 25% for every 1k claimed, etc)?
  2. http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-2ERiEfCq-1092.html As per said.. would u get this or would u prefer to buy direct from KM.. how much did the previous owner had to lose by selling so early... 6 month old car @ 72k [note of the low COE of 9.5k] or brand new from KM @ 76k Note its a Honda the previous driver luggi big time.. or realised his pocket not big enough?
  3. Hi all, Since Mazda 3 2.0 is launched, I have not seen it on the roads yet. One reason I could think of is price of 70K+ which is 10K+ more than 1.6 version. Price is one thing, but I am just wondering if the 2.0 performance is worth the premium. Since Mazda is responding to general opinion that 1.6 is underpowered by bringing the 2.0, then I wonder why it is not doing well? Dun tell me 2.0 is underpowered? Comments welcome!
  4. The following was extracted from another thread which has been TCSS.. haha.. spanning across 64 pages.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I went to see the Latio at Ubi today. The interior is very impresive & spacious. The rear is more spacious than the G9 Corolla, no kidding. Even with the front seats pushed all the way back, a 1.8m tall person still has loads of leg room! I got the following freebies : 1) Solar Film 2) $300 cash (from SE own pocket) 3) Sports Rims 4) Locally fitted leather seats for 4AT (CVT Premium comes with factory fitted leather) Now my headache is whether I shd get the 4 speed auto or CVT? Prices are as follows (for Dynamics version with body kit, and after $2,000 insurance and loan discount & $1,000 additional discount = Total $3,00 discount) : 4 sp auto - $54,000 - 2006 Yr of Manufacture - Leather seats and sports rims free CVT Premium - $54,500 - 2005 Yr of Manufacture (hence the extra $3K discount, on top of $2,000 insurance, loan and $1,000 additional discoutn stated above = total $6,000 discount) - Comes with factory fitted leather seats & sports rims If I do not want body kit, just deduct S$500 off prices above. Tan Chong is not charging me any dealer commission for scraping of my car paper value. What is your opinion of 4 sp auto and CVT? Is CVT problematic? Is CVT more economical than 4 sp auto? Which is a better buy? * CVT Premium OMV is S$1000+ more than 4 sp auto. * I heard that first batch YOM 2005 CVT got problem, is it true? Thank you (This post was edited by Vit4wd on Sep 23, 2006, 6:14 PM) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  5. Hi all! looking to get a car real soon. Was looking at the 1.5l models. So naturally, Vios, City and Latio came into my mind. Vios is very nicely priced @ 46k+ and boasts a powerful enuff engine and also fuel efficient. However, it looks small. Wify wants the car to be able to seat 4 adults and 1 baby seat comfortably. So i guess the vios is out. So i've narrowed it down to City vtec and Latio premium. Price wise, very close with Latio Premium being 2k+ more costly. I feel space wise, they are almost equal as well..and as for looks, well, both r also similarly 'weird' looking. this is where my headache comes. In terms of gadgets and interior, latio will win hands down. In terms of FC, i think a manual city vtec will be better. of cos, insurance wise, latio will be cheaper... how abt the cost of servicing? KM does not provide any free servicing unlike TC right? or does that free servicing package apply to only the sunny? And i'm hoping the car will last me at least 6-7 yrs. So will the latio auto transmission last that long or should i get the manual city? help!

  10. Posting this here because it's where I heard of Soft99. My car was previously wearing Collinite #845IW, which went through a few months (half of it through winter) and was still beading nicely today. I would've left it for longer but unfortunately the car encountered lots of bird bombs after being parked under a tree (evil eye to other half). It all washed off no harm done. The wax might've been fine but you guys know how it is, take no chances. Time for something new. Process: Wash VM Soft99 Premium Authentic (needs an acronym, how about S99PA) Not a lot of pics since it was dark by the time I finished and I was working in the garage most of the time anyway because of the weather (rain rain rain, I hate spring). Pics: 2nd time I've used VM and the bottle's still almost full S99PA was a joy to use. Applied by WOWO method with foam pad. This stuff spreads so easily that I managed to get a very nicely even and thin layer. Minimal effort was needed to remove residue. It behaves quite differently to something like Collinite which is oily in nature. It spread more like a liquid, and finished up surprisingly slick. Looks wet but I'd say maybe 10% at most is due to S99PA. VM had more to do with the look. Another shot. Hopefully Melbourne gets some sun tomorrow, I'll put the car out and take a few more pics.
  11. I am new to this forum and intending to purchase a Chevrolet Optra by end-week. Is there other recommendations from the Chevy family? Dear seniors, any idea what's the FC like? I read a thread it seems like cursing his Chevy buy and doubting the FC of his vehicle..I am abit perturbed that's all. Await all kind souls' replies. Thanks.
  12. Hi there, 1. Saw an Ad of a year 01 Audi 1.6A selling for about 70K. COE 32K+. 2. What other good value 2nd hand premium car can we expect now? 3-4 years Bmw for 70k to 80k, Merc for 90k? What do you think? Regards,

    Optra Premium

Test drove my friend's Optra 1.6A days back and quite impressed with the performances. According to him, he paid $59988 for the premium package which is $2000 more than the standard package. Is the additional $2K for the beige CD-changer, leather seats, beige interior and sports rims? I'm now considering Sunny 1.6Ex and Optra 1.6A which is almost selling the same amount. I had test drove the Sunny but preferred the spacious and luxurious feeling of the Optra. Normally, how much to pay for deposit/downpayment and the waiting time? Sunny got to wait for 2-3 months and heard that they are going to stop taking order as the new Sunny might be out soon Thanks

  19. considering a Subaru Impreza 1.6 TS manual now... less than 2 yrs old, low mileage... was calculating the paper value (PARF + COE rebate??) of the car, which comes up to around $40k at this point... so going by that, if i were to pay around $58-60k for the car, is that considered too much of a premium to pay on top of the paper value? or am i missing some elements here that contribute to the car's market value? sorry, newbie at this.. appreciate any help from the lao jiaos here
  20. the tyres been run-in... three weeks and here is my review. the tyres compound are hard... so it gets loud especially over the 90km/hr speed. braking distance seems to be shorter. cornering more precise. just yesterday, went on wet day on ECP at 110km/hr... i knew it would aquaplane and it did... just wanted to see by how much... it shifted right by about less than half an inch... quite stable though dangerous. checked to make sure no cars behind me.
