  1. Wondering what will be the best tire pressure if i on Front 225 / 35 / 18 , Rear 245 / 35 / 18 ??? In terms of handling ?? 220 PSI ?? 240 PSI ??? Thanks in advance Cheers
  2. Hey all, My ride comes with stock 205/55/16R Yoko A-drive tyres. Took a look at the sticker by the side of the door and realized that it was for 15" tyres with recommended pressure of 210kPa for both front and rear. Any idea what kind of pressure should I be pumping for my 16" tyres? I noticed that at the side of the tyre, it states max pressure is 300kpa / 144psi.
  3. I am driving a Honda Crossroad 1.8L. Recommended tyre pressure on the plate at driver's door is 210 PSI. My tyres and rims are stock. When I first checked the pressure when I received the car, it was at 270 PSI! I tot something wrong with the pump so I went to another station but it too showed the same pressure. I re-adjusted to 210 PSI but the tyres look underinflated. Has anyone come across this problem before? Now I keep it around 220 -230 PSI unless I am driving to Malaysia where I will adjust it down to 210 PSI. I was told by the PI that importers will overinflate the tyres when shipping to compensate for loss during warehouseing and shipment. But again, the tyres look perfectly ok at 270 PSI... Also, when driving in Malaysia on the NS highway, at around speed of 140 - 150 km/h, there is a strange humming noise coming from the front right portion of the car. Especially when there is cross wind. Sounds like wind blowing across a piece of strectched plastic. But the sound is not consistant. It is on and off. Sometimes there is no sound even at higher speed. This is very strange and would help if any brothers have any experience in this before. btw, I have checked under the bonner, hood and chassis to find that piece of loose plastic or watsoever. I suspect it might be one of the labels in the engine bay being blown about.
  4. Found this video on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KYtQZefqLM
  5. Hi bros, I recently found this problem of my left side tyres having too low pressure. Wonder whether is there any leakage. On Tuesday, I went to inflate my tires, and found my left front having a pressure of only 187kPa (from 230 more than a week ago) and the left back at 187kPa (from 220 more than a week ago). I re-inflated them to the pressure that I always inflate to. Come this morning (Thursday), I checked my tire pressures. The front left was 210kPa and the back was about 200kPa. And this was after running for more than 30km to my workplace! So it means if my tyres are cool, it will show an even lower reading!! So my question is, are my left tyres leaking air? Or is it normal? Previously it was not like this. If there really is a problem, where can I go to repair them? Thanks in advance!
  6. how much do u pump for ur car? i recently changed from 220 to 210 and i felt the car like very much lighter and the steering feel also very light. does it necessary means its not suitable for my car?
  7. Guys, after travelling for about 20km, can an originally pressure of around 230 goes up to about 265?
  8. Hi all, need your advice on tyre pressure.. last evening i realised my rear passenger side tyre was very flat. i went to petrol station and pump.. fd that only 75PSI!! so i pumped to 230PSI (17 inch). This evening, i went to petrol station again and chk the pressure.. 175PSI... is there a problem? what shd I do? thnx!
  9. Hi Bros, Im using 225/50/R17 and dunno how much air to pump. I tried pumping in 280 at petrol kiosk. Anyone can advise what is the ideal pressure for the said size?
  10. Hi Bro, One of my rear tyre keeps loosing air pressure from 38 PSI to 25-20 PSI (tyre spec is 50 PSI max) after two weeks of driving. I did visual check but can't find any foreign object stuck on the tyre. Any idea what is the caused for the lost in pressure?
  11. so wat the trye pressure for ur EP80? was recommended recently to run on 200 for front and 210 for rear. how about u guys?
  12. Further to this thread. Part 1 Hope the following is also helpful.
  13. Source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../326502/1/.html SIA plane returns to Changi Airport after loss of cabin pressure By Patwant Singh, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 02 February 2008 2008 hrs SINGAPORE : A Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-200 plane flying to Beijing had to return to Changi Airport some 90 minutes after takeoff due to loss of cabin pressure on Saturday afternoon. Officials say Flight SQ 802, carrying 232 passengers and 13 crew, suffered loss of cabin pressure at an altitude of 36,000 feet. So the pilot sent the plane first to 32,000 feet and then to 10,000 feet. Because of the rapid 6-minute descent, oxygen masks were deployed. However these were safely removed once the plane reached 10,000 feet, and was stable. SIA says the captain, in accordance with safety procedures, immediately initiated a return to Singapore - the nearest suitable airport. The plane landed safely and without incident at 1.48pm local time. Passengers were transferred to a different aircraft to continue their journey to Beijing. SIA says a detailed investigation is underway and apologises to passengers inconvenienced by the delay. - CNA/ch

  15. Wed Dec 12, 2007 4:51pm EST By Anne Harding NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Obese children who watch a lot of television are more likely to have high blood pressure than heavy children who don't spend as much time in front of the tube, the results of a new study shows. Increased psychological stress and junk food eaten while watching TV could be factors in the relationship, principal investigator Dr. Jeffrey B. Schwimmer of the University of California, San Diego, told Reuters Health. Obese children who watched 2 to 4 hours of TV each day were 2.5 times more likely than their peers who watched less TV to have high blood pressure, he and his colleagues found, while kids who watched more than 4 hours daily had more than triple the risk of having high blood pressure. TV watching time clearly influences obesity and high blood pressure is a known consequence of obesity, Schwimmer and his team point out in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. To investigate this relationship, they evaluated 546 children between 4 and 17 years old who were seeking treatment for obesity. Forty-three percent had high blood pressure. Most of the study participants with high blood pressure watched 2 hours or more of television. Time spent watching television was also associated with the severity of obesity, the researchers found. Kids who watch more TV may also be eating more fatty, salty foods, which could directly contribute to high blood pressure, Schwimmer and his colleagues note. Studies have shown that children who watch more TV experience more perceived psychological stress, Schwimmer noted, and evidence is mounting that stress can alter how the brain communicates with other organs, affecting blood pressure and body fat accumulation and distribution. The findings underscore the importance of limiting children's TV viewing to less than 2 hours a day, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, he said, and that this may be particularly important for overweight and obese children. Blood pressure is often not measured in children, and if it is measured, "it's often not done correctly," Schwimmer added. "I would encourage parents of children to raise the issue of blood pressure with their child's doctor." SOURCE: American Journal of Preventive Medicine, December 2007.
  16. This is one cosmetic add on that is really useful... I had just done my oil change this morning.. On the way back home, my oil press gauge was beeping all the way and the pressure dropped.. I stopped the car and popped the bonnet, didnt find anything wrong like; oil filler cap not tightened or dipstick not put properly.. I closed it back and continued to drive to the workshop.. On my way to open the door, I saw a trail of liquid behind my car and guess wat?? It was my newly changed oil.. No wonder the gauge was beeping.. I called the workshop again and told the mech what I encountered.. Drove it back to him and get it done.. Problem rectified.. The cause, drain plug was not properly tightened... Got a full refund for labor.. But I refused.. Human error.. Now, supposing I did not have my pressure gauge, I could not imagine the damage done.. Eg; piston seized, etc etc.. I was planning to drive up to KL today.. If not for the gauge, I don't know what would happen really.... Please, check the drain plug after every oil change... Lesson learnt..
  17. Recently my oil pressure gauge reading is 'stuck' at a certain level... If I were to repeatily hit the gauge, the needle will drop down to zero. But upon moving, the sensor reading will push the needle up again but stuck there~ Is the gauge spoilt or the pressure sensor spoilt?
  18. hi, would like to ask for help... as im driving an old car, so no more placards or whatever labels to tell me how much pressure to pump my tyres... so i always use the markings on the tyres as a guide... the markings are as followed : "Max Load 437kg at 300kPa (44PSI) Max Press" so i interpret it as pump air up to 300kPa or 44 PSI... but after thinking a while, not sure am i doing the right thing? my tyres are 175/60R14 79H pls advise. thks.
  19. Come across this Ozy webby.......check out here: http://www.impulsengine.com/index.shtml Contrary to Cold Air Intake (CAI) methods......... No flaming please.........juz yer IMHO.
  20. Anyone can please advise on the standard tyre pressure for my wheels? They are GoodYear Eagle LS2000s... Thanks...
  21. Hi, I am exploring using a pressure washer from karcher to wash cars. I understand that one can attach a foam lance to it so that it can dispense detergent. Would washing a car this way, without the use of any mitts be clean? Essentially, i use the high pressure spray nozzle to wash off dirt, then attach the foam / soap lance followed by another final spray down bia the pressure washer. Appreciate any thots from enthusiast who may have tried this technique. thanks!
  22. hi bros, newbie here. usually the petrol station got the tyre pressure check and pump service for free? how do i know what's the standard pressure for my tyre. thx
  23. Yesterday was a day of new learning experience on tyres by our family when we went to change a set of tyres at AMK Autopoint. Yes we were lucky to find one shop still open on Sunday to help our dismay, many thanks to the boss Eric Tan. Pressure Our rear right tyre has been losing pressure constantly for past 1 week and we suspect a FOD had penetrated onto the tyre as such decided to quickly change it. Though it is a Sunday and we know that many shops are not open, we decided to try our luck as we deem it is too dangerous to continue driving on this tyre though it is not on the front. The current tyre setup on our car (Nissan Sunny N16) is, the front tyres are Sumitomo (newly changed by TCM at our last servicing late last year) and the rear tyres are the original Bridgestone tyres that are also about due to be change (as per advised by TCM during the last servicing). Our precious ride has already 61K mileage now. So the suspected punctured tyre is due to be change anyway. Pressured At the good shop, the boss proceeded to change our two rear tyres though he did mentioned as he does not have Sumitomo as they are not good in his opinion and thus does not want to carry them. In fact he is surprised to learned from us that TCM had recommended Sumitomo to (more like pressured according to my mum) my mum when she sent the car to TCM for servicing last time. TCM called my mum to say that the 2 tyres needs to be change and the other 2 can be changed at the next servicing. I can imagine our ride have 4 sumitomo tyres....why?...we soon learned that in the next few para. The boss then given us two choices and we took his better recommendation which is Michelin XM1 at 185/65/15. I brought along 2 new spare rims to change too, one for the rear right and one for the front left. When we were changing the front left tyre onto the new wheel, we noticed that the sidewall had already sustained a chipped off damage, we were then advised to change the tyre too. Though we know that the two front tyres were relatively new, we decided to change all four to Michelin. When the Sumitomo tyres were removed and placed beside the Michelin
  24. Hey guys, Itchy hands again and installed oil temp, oil pressure and intake manifold defi guages on my IS200 today. Thought intake manifold is essentially a vacuum guage, but the reading is so different. Any idea how to read it? What's the ideal oil pressure on my ride when idle and when revving it? Thanks for your help.
