  1. Notice nowadays private buses wait in public bus bay along the roads for their passengers and these buses usually just park there for 10-20mins even during peak hours.... for example the Sentosa Resort World buses at bus stops along the main road near Vivo city etc etc. The result is that normal public buses have no place to pick up / let out their passengers in the bus bay so they just stop along the road, causing traffic jams behind.... It is ok if private buses just stop and move off like public buses at these bus bays, but they just simply park there to wait for passengers to fill up the seats ... ignoring the traffic jam they are causing
  2. Wah kao, I just kena summ at 1:38am. I parked my car outside my friend's place to grab something. I stayed like maybe 25mins max. when i came out, i got the shock of my life. 3. Anyone have recommendation for villa stay in Batam with private pool?
  4. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1093850/1/.html I thought that is really bad. I mean if the residents of a condo votes to not install opennet, why not? Why should IDA shove it down everyone's throat? If 90% of the residents have no need for it, why should they fork out the money to have fiber cable run into their development? I think it is a screwed up by IDA. IDA think that if they provide FREE but EXPOSED cabling, the majority will take up the offer, thus they tendered and budgeted for such. Which is stupid. Now 90% of the condos refused to do it as exposed trunking is butt ugly and hacking/concealment costs are high. So what does IDA do? They just shove it down the condos throat and ask the residents to pay for all the hacking costs.
  5. In Singapore I mean, is there any private property worth investing in with only $500K? I see alot of "Mickey Mouse" 400sf units for sale around this price ($500K), but are this type of units easy to rent out (must be able to cover the monthly installment and other costs) and easy to sell away?
  6. Hi I'm hit from behind by a car and entirely the other party fault. Proceed to do private settlement. But the repair of the boot was lousy and painting was like shyt with Wrinkles and waves. Have been to the workshop again yo get them to retify. Look nice again but after one wash and it's shyt again. Qns. Can I change to a new boot and claim cos I have not sign the private settlement form yet? Or is there any other way except accepting the farked up repair job.

  8. A private King Long CNG bus caught fire outside the Christian Columbarium (The Garden Of Remembrance) along Old Choa Chu Kang Road yesterday morning at 7.25am. The bus was fetching SAF soldiers. After the soldiers had alighted at Old Choa Chu Kang Road, the bus started to move off but the engine caught fire shortly after. The bus was soon engulfed in flames. The bus driver, Mr Chan Beng San, suffered serious burns after the tried to put off the fire by himself but failed. He was now fighting for his life in hospital. the bus that burnt is a new bus, only 9 months old source: straits times, wanbao, tnp
  9. talk sibei Guai Lan & insist it's my mistake but i am sure he eat into my lane without signal at high speed, hitting my left headlight & corner (with dent + need respray) .. at that time no photo was taken. we jus exchanged particulars.. now shld i fight for the claim & claim against him also or shld I let him claim & let my insurance do the investigations on the taxi.. I chk with the workshop, the repair cost including legal fee & surveyor fee is ard $700. so what are the chances of me winning? If it's a 50-50 case, how much excess will i be paying to the carworkshop? Will my NCD be affected?
  10. Ok, i created a thread about my LITTLE BROTHER (not little penis) some mod saw the thread and thought that i was referring to my private part and gave me a warning i've been thinking about the warning and i can only come to 2 conclusions 1 - only people with a dirty mind will perceive things in a dirty manner or 2 - sometimes while driving, your private part would disturb you some how i choose to believe that the mods here are not perverted thus i must have been given the warning due to #2 but i just can't think of a scenario where your private part would disturb you while driving anybody care to share?
  11. Hi guys, need some advice... I was driving in Suntec City Car Park and suddenly the road changed direction and couldn't go straight. I was a bit past the left turn which was the right direction so I changed to reverse gear. I checked the mirror and no cars so I press reverse. Before I knew it, there was a loud bang and hit the car behind. I believe the car behind was also not practicing safe driving and also accelerated into me. That's why there was a small hole in my back bumper and his front bumper. So the situation is this, currently i have zero NCD anyway and my insurance premium from AIG/Chartis is about 2.2K since I bought a new car and have no choice but to take up the comprehensive insurance offered by the agent. I was thinking of doing private settlement so as not to increase my insurance premium next year but I'm not too sure if it's worth it. The other party was driving a company leased car through Comfort Delgro so now I have to deal directly with Comfort Delgro. They wouldn't let me fix the car at my workshop but they got 2 quotes and the lowest was about 900bucks. So I'm thinking should I just pay this 900 bucks or ask them to claim my insurance and get my insurance to fight for me based on the fact that it's about 50-50. For my car, I already got it fixed by paying about 200 bucks by just asking them to fix the hole and spray paint over it since my own excess was 600 bucks. Not too sure what to do but just worried about the increase in premium next year. So if some experienced bros/sis can advice the next step, that would be great. Thanks.
  12. One moment there are a few units i was looking at selling 720k to 760k.. then somehow not many advertisements.. then when advertisements start to appear again prices range from 800k to 820k.. in a span of 2 weeks. Another project.. price ranged from 680k to 740k.. after few weeks it became 800k and above. Can anyone advise who determines the prices? demand and supply? valuation? but how can valuation suddenly changed so much in few weeks.. Sorry if i asked silly questions.. I am still trying to find a 3br unit within my budget..
  13. Dear All, Just got an accident, got rear-end by another car. Bumper still attached, but part of it caved in and boot cannot close properly. Exchanged driver and insurance details. By right, should just claim insurance and case closed. But my car is already more than 7yrs old, plus already thinking of changing car this year, but not right now. So if I claim insurance and repair the car, then scrap it 3-6 months later... Quite wasted... Alternatively, discuss a private settlement with the other driver (~ $2-3k) and take the cash and scrap the car... About 6 months back, a dealer offered only $800 above paper value for my car... So treat it as a "dealer" buying it for $2-3k... At least the other owner save on next insurance premium renewal... It should be a win-win situation... Not sure whether I am doing the right thing here... Please advice... Cheers...

  16. Just curious, the laws already forbid smoking in public and private buses and taxi and this includes any enclosed or air-conditioned common area of any private residential premises or building. So technically smoking can be banned in private car too. Some have the habits of smoking in their cars, and tossed the butts in the air or on the road too. What do you think of this? Regards,
  17. Asking for a friend of mine. Is there any legal option to rent out a private vehicle on a long term basis like 2 to 3 years? Search online but seems like LTA only allows weekends and PH only.
  18. Anyone know of any cheap PI to trail people and get evidence?
  19. Dear all, I'm staying in a semi-d with a 2-way lane in front of my house. The single lane on the opposite side facing my house has double yellow lines whereas the single lane on my side has no lines, hence we residents are allowed to park on my side of the lane. Recently however I noticed my new neighbour who is staying on the opposite side who actually used his "888" brand dustbins to reserve the lot and many have since followed. Is this legal? I have taken pictures of these dustbins sitting prominently on the roads and who shall I make a formal complain to if it is not? Has anyone in this forum who have a similar experience before who can advise? Thanks in advance!

  21. ELECTRIC NEWS Firm helped pay car owner's monthly instalments for his vehicle Fined for renting out car illegally By Hedy Khoo February 23, 2009 CAN'T afford to pay the monthly instalments on your car loan? Renting out your car might seem an attractive option. But beware. QUIET: The office of Starzfocus Car Rental where Lawrence Yong rented out his car in return for it paying his monthly car instalments. An owner handed over his car to a car rental company in return for the company paying his monthly instalments. But what Lawrence Yong Shao Ping, 30, did not realise was that he did not have the required motor insurance for such a transaction. He had to cough up a fine of $500 and was disqualified from driving for a year for renting out his car illegally. He was caught when a hirer who took his car from the rental company was stopped at Ang Mo Kio in September 2007 by a Land Transport Authority officer. In 2005, Yong had handed over his car, which he bought in 2004, to Starzfocus 2 Rental Enterprise in return for the rental company paying $800 for his monthly instalment. Starzfocus then leased the car to one Mr Jeevan Shanmugam from September 2007. Professional According to court papers, Yong had been recommended to Starzfocus by a friend who told him that 'it was a reputable company'. He also noticed that the company was 'well furnished and appeared to be run in a professional and experienced manner', and 'there were many cars on the premises'. This gave him the 'confidence that he was dealing with professional, experienced and honest persons'. Yong was introduced to a director of the company, Alan Goh, and told that the company would pay $800 for the car's monthly instalments. In mitigation, Yong's counsel said his client thought the rental company was 'fully aware and conversant and in compliance with the laws, rules and regulations relating to the motor trade and motor rental business'. The car company also informed him that it had its own insurance policy to cover the rental of vehicles. He was shown the standard terms and conditions which a hirer would have to sign and told that the hirer could take out an insurance policy for the duration of the hire. He was further assured that he could make a third party claim in the event his vehicle was involved in an accident involving other drivers. His mitigation plea stated that Yong did not gain financially and continued to suffer a loss. He was only trying to reduce his losses by renting out his car, instead of selling it. Assured While his car was with Starzfocus, the company had settled numerous traffic fines and even settled insurance claims from two major accidents the car was involved in without using Yong's insurance coverage. This further convinced him that the company's assurances to him were true. Yong claimed that he had been misled and was unaware that the rental arrangement was illegal until informed by the LTA. District Judge Salina Ishak considered that ignorance of the law is no excuse, but said that companies which offer such services are 'very much prevalent and a growing phenomenon', such that they 'give credence that such practices are acceptable and legal'. She pointed out that the rationale for the Motor Vehicles (Third Party Risks and Compensation) Act is to ensure that pedestrians and the motoring public will be able to recover compensation from an offender if he injures or kills someone. As Yong's car was registered as a private vehicle, the insurance policy for the car would be for private use and not for reward or hire. She noted that generally, private car owners are not permitted to rent out their vehicles unless they do so under the Private Car Rental Scheme introduced by the LTA. )Under the scheme, private cars can be rented on weekends from Friday 7pm to the following Monday 7am. But owners have to ensure adequate insurance coverage for the period of rental. The judge pointed out that as a car owner, Yong should have checked that his car was properly insured. But he had chosen to 'turn a blind eye' and rely on the assurances made by the representatives of the rental company. So the judge said Yong was 'not without blame but in fact is wholly to blame for his misfortune'. He could have been fined up to $1,000 and jailed up to three months. My question here is why was he being disqualified from driving
