  2. Hi, I'm driving an auto Honda Civic (ES5). Is it ok to drop my gear to D3 from D often? For example, when I'm on a highway and filtering to exit, I'll not step on my brake but shift to D3 from D to let the engine brake kicks in. I usuall shift to D3 from D at round 70 - 85km/h. I understand that if we shift to D3, the gear will not go beyond 3rd gear. Same thing for 2 and 1; that is shift to 2 and 1, then the gear will stay at 2 and 1 respectively. At MSCP, I'll usually shift to gear 2 for going up and down some steep slopes. Any idea if this driving behavior is bad for my auto transmission? I know some will suggest just use brake, and let the gear system decide the best gear to use. But I feel that sometimes it's not safe to step on the brake, especially when you are negoitating a steep bend or when the road is wet. Any informative comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks and regards.
  3. Need some advise here... My neighbour upstair is making me crazy. I believe the mother feeding baby every morning between 1am to 2am and she will create some noise ie. pull the chair, drop things on the floor, some funny knocking sound etc practically everyday although mostly last about 10-15 min. My family members are not affected and only me always woke up by these noises could be due to I m a light sleeper. My question is ..is this my problem for a light sleeper ? I think this is really disturbing my rest. Approach them before but they denied but I kn is them cos I can see their light on whenever I hear the noise. What can I do? Any suggestion ? Or I'm been too difficult and need to be more accomodating?
  4. Wonder if anyone can help me...I was driving on the NS highway relying on my gps to get to my destination but missed an exit. After I paid for the toll at Skudai (I think) via TnG card, I made a U-turn to go back. At the same toll, I picked up a transit ticket but did not know the purpose of this ticket. At the next toll, I tapped my TnG card but the barrier did not lift up and the attendant said I should pay in cash since I had the transit ticket. So after paying in cash, I proceeded on and on the next toll, again the barrier did not lift up and it seems that the card has no more value in it left! Made the mistake of not stopping at the office there to inquire about the card and now I need assistance....Do I need to go to a Toll office or is there one in JB? Hope I am not confusing anyone

  6. The 2.2" wheel center caps on Suzuki Swift 15" stock sports rim seem to break quite frequently. They are made of plastic with 4 (plastic) clips to hold them in place. I have replaced 6 wheel center caps in past 5 months... each costing around SGD 14.00. Initially I though they were stolen (when I found them missing)... but later on I realized that the plastic clips are weak and they break easily... the wheel center cap becomes loose and then falls off. I spoke to the service center, and was told that they have not heard of such complains from other Suzuki Swift Owners. Does anyone have the same problem? Also, I am using ArmorAll wheel cleaner, do you think it could affect them? I do not see any visible signs of degradation/damage on the wheel caps after using the wheel cleaner.

  12. While on the way to a waterfall in Terengganu yesterday, my undercarriage scraped against the ground. We could here the scrapping sound and I thought all was well until I smelled fuel or exhaust fumes from within the vehicle somewhere near Mersing. We could smell the fumes occassionally. Actually, we did not continue our journey to the waterfall as to access it one needs to drive on a dirt track suitable for 4WD wehicles only. I am driving a Toyota Isis MPV. 1) Is there a recommended workshop I should go to? My vehicle is still covered under the PI workshop (MBM Wheelpower) warranty. 2) Should I report this to my insurer? Thanks for the advice.

  15. May 20, 2008 ERP woes: Still not clear where the problem lies Motorists suffer while LTA and Nets work on finding 'logistical solution'. By Tan Weizhen FAULTY cashcards or faulty in-vehicle units (IUs) which fail to register at the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) gantries are continuing to bother motorists. Since The Straits Times (ST) reported two weeks ago that 300 motorists a month either paid the $10 fine or jumped through the requisite hoops with the authorities to get these fines waived, more have come forward to say that they too are being plagued by the problem. ST spoke to 17 of them. They said that although the fines are dropped when they go to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to explain why they did not pay the ERP charges, they are frustrated with the time and effort it takes to get the fine waived. When contacted, the LTA and the Network for Electronic Transfers (Nets), which issues the cashcards, would only say they were working together on a logistical solution for motorists, but gave no details. It is still unclear where the problem lies - with the cashcards or the IUs, and motorists are getting frustrated. Mr Francis Chua, 51, for example, told ST that he paid the fine the first time it happened, but has since made seven trips to the LTA office to get fine waivers. He said that each of these seven times, LTA sent him to licensed vehicle inspection centres like Vicom to get his cashcard and IU checked, to confirm that it was a technical problem and not because his cashcard had insufficient funds. Only then would his fines be waived. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...ory_239360.html
  16. Hi People Can help to solve this maths problem, pls...thanks! David and Michael drove from town A to town B at different speeds. Both did not change their speed throughout their journeys. David started his journey 30 minutes earlier than Michael. However, Michael reached town B 50 minutes earlier than David. When Michael reached town B, David had travelled 4/5 of the journey and was 75 Km away from town B. a) How may km did David travel in 1 hour? b) What was the time taken by Michael to travel from town A to town B?

  21. hi, recently my stock alarm giving me problem. last time usually when car is locked, the little red bulb below key hole will be blinking. When car alarm is disabled and car is unlocked, the light will be off. then after engine is switched on, after a few seconds the central lock will autolock the 4 doors. when alarm is activated, there's a loud single "beep", when disable, 2 loud ":beep" Now... the red bulb is on all the time, even if i did not activate my alarm.. the only way to switch off the light is to discoonect my battery. when i arm or disarm alarm, no sound or whatever.. but funny thing is, when i activate alarm and when 1 of the door is ajar and not closed completely, there's "beep... beep... beep" sound like last time. now when i start engine, the central lock does not automatically lock anymore. can advise what may be the problem? need to change alarm lock system or not? car is 3 years only and 100+k mileage. thanks

  23. last week after i manually wash my car, my reverse sensor got problem. when i reverse, it is the continuous beep. i have check if there is any object behind, but there is none. after that, i drive around to 'dry' the sensor, then the sensor work as normal. then after 1 day, the continuous beep problem come back again when i start my car and try reversing. i have no time to think about the problem as i rushing to go another place. strange thing happens when i wanted to park at the another place, the sensor work as normal again. the same incident happened for another 2 days, start car and try reversing, the sensor faulty. but drive to another place, the sensor working again. seem like the sensor need warm-up? i have went back to do a one to one exchange of the sensor box although the continuous beep problem is gone, i still feel that maybe it is not the sensor box problem. i going to monitor for a few more days. anyone encounter this strange problem before?
