  3. I just bought an Asus laptop today and was surprised to find that the 2 USB (2.0) ports located on the right side of the laptop can't be fitted with any USB devices such as mouse, printer, camera etc. There is however no problem with the 1 USB (3.0) port on the left side of the laptop. Would appreciate if any forummers can help me on this. Are the two (2.0) ports locked or something? Or is there more to it? Haven't come across anything like that. Thanks lots!

Hi Bros need advise on the following : Friend's dad got a Sunny Ex-saloon with gearbox problem. when driving 1/2 way sometimes the gear will be stuck at 1st gear resulting in low speed plus high RPM, need to switch off the car then start again then it will be ok. But after driving for sometime it will persist again. checked with WS they said that need to overhaul the gearbox, and they says that Sunny not able to replace the clutch as it comes in a complete module. is it true? To my surprise when I on Hazard Light both working. So I went to ZMC @ Serangoon there and the guy told me probably the switch of the light is faulty due to cause of wear and tear but the thing is they don't have the item. Its pretty dangerous to drive especially at night when your signal light is faulty. Anyone experience this before? Roughly how much will it cost to replace it ?

  12. Didnt know so many people stranded on a holiday night eve. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1233626/1/.html Looks like the reason they gave for breakdowns for an EW ageing line afflicts their new start up lines as well. Looks like a design issue rather than a wear and tear problem?

  14. People who are overly influenced by society, small groups, and other people, live in fear of the consequences of their own thinking. As a result, they unquestioningly borrow their thoughts and opinions from others in order to avoid the pain of working things out on their own. WB is fond of saying,
  15. hi all, me bought Hyundai Verna 1.6A in May last year, then past 1 yr plus no prob except not much power and high fc. then abt 20 days ago, aircon got hot air, and could hear 'water gushing around' type of sound in bonnet. after car cooled down at night, opened radiator to see and had to top up ~3.5 litre of water before it was full!! next day drove to workshop but after checking half day told me can't find any leak and told me monitor first... for a week, i everyday checked radiator water level twice and always full. my mech laughed, so i didn't bother anymore. Then yest on way home, heard funny sound and later going into basement carpark could feel car vibrating and hear like got water boiling and streaming through narrow pipe... slowly parked and 2 hr later, went check again and had to top up abt 2.7 litre of water. this morning before went work, initially checked ok, but after car moved off, could hear water gushing sound again, then when stopped and opened radiator again, could pour in another about 600 ml... Then this afternoon, and at night after work, both times still full... anyone knows what could be the problem and what could be the solution? tks....

  18. Recently I get frequent headaches (not the severe throbbing type); no giddiness. Not sure if it is due to stress or late nights or due to the whiplash injury I suffered 1 year ago (specialist already diagnosed me as chronic) - still having neck pain. Kinda of freaked out when I watch "On Call 36 Hours" showing on SCV weekdays 9pm seeing how headache symptoms suggest possible brain tumors. Should I go for CT scan? I think it is very expensive? Can use Medisave? Is it bad for health to do CT scan?
  19. CNA report: MP echoes calls for PSLE to be scrapped By Amanda Lee, TODAY | Posted: 18 September 2012 0706 hrs SINGAPORE: As the "national conversation" gets underway, education - an issue close to many Singaporeans' hearts - has quickly emerged as a hot topic. And the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE), for so long a rite of passage for children here, has come under the spotlight again, as a Member of Parliament renewed calls for it to be scrapped. "I am all for slaying the PSLE sacred cow. But we need to first agree on an alternative way of deciding who goes to which secondary school, other than by way of a common exam," Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC MP Hri Kumar wrote on his blog last Friday. Mr Hri Kumar, who sits on the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for Education, lauded the Ministry of Education's announcements last week to "remove banding, de-emphasise exams and promote non-academic aspects of a child's development", as he put it. But he pointed out that, "so long as a child's PSLE scores determines which secondary school he goes to, and so long as places in 'better' schools are limited", competition and stress are inevitable and parents will also "do what they can to help their kids out-score their peers". "To most, that means tuition," he added. In May, sociologist and former Nominated MP Paulin Straughan also called for PSLE to be abolished, as a way to reduce stress and encourage young couples to have more children. Contacted on Monday, Assoc Prof Straughan felt MOE's latest moves provided cold comfort. She reiterated that "there will always be an informal ranking of schools" based on the PSLE cut-off points for entry to the various secondary schools. Other observers and educators TODAY spoke to were divided on whether the PSLE should stay. Mrs Jenny Yeo, Principal of Southview Primary School, noted that the exam is "some form of assessment" to pit the educational standards of children here against their peers in other countries. She added that, in general, the situation here should not become one where children are "very relaxed about learning" and "just play all the way to Primary 6". Mountbatten MP Lim Biow Chuan, who chairs the GPC for Education, reiterated the PSLE's purpose as a placement exam. "No matter how you see it, you cannot run away from the fact that students have differing abilities," said Mr Lim. Chua Chu Kang GRC MP Low Yen Ling felt the format of the PSLE could be tweaked. For example, 35 per cent of the PSLE could be weighted to regular national assessments at Primary 5 and Primary 6, she said. for more of the story, please login the link: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1226598/1/.html for me, why change after donkeys years in these system...... Some SAP Sec schools 'selected students' had scrapped the 'O' level exam and goes direct to 'A' level and how many kids can make it to Sec without first knowing how he/she prevail in primary school if we were to do away PSLE.....
  20. I am currently driving a 2year old 09' batch Ody. However I am facing some problems. What happen is that intermittently my car will restart her current especially during stops (happens also when I am driving halfway too). The engine is still running did not die off so no need to restart, its just like the current shut itself off and on again. Anyone encounter this issue? On some occassions, when I start the car the whole car has no power and cannot start, after awhile the power comes back and can start the engine. The alternator should be working fine as no issues with the charging as I have left the car standby for 2days and no problem starting the engine. Also the batt is only 8months old. Thanks for the advise.

  22. Need some help here. I'm on SH maxonline and is using Motorola SBV5121i voice modem and Linksys WRT54G router. All was working fine until last evening when my internet connection became very very very slow. Then there after, i couldn't access the internet on my iphone (WIFI) and laptop. I checked the LEDs on the modem and all the required LEDs are lit. I'm not an expert but I would expect the DS and DR LEDs to blink when i'm surfing web right? When I tried to a webpage, the DS and DR LEDs were lit but not blinking. However, the LINK LED is blinking. Does that mean the router is working but the modem is spoilt? Or is it the other way round? Any bros can help?
