  1. I believe everyone has problems of their own when they are 'brought into' this world...some might have more problems than others( which are really of their own doing )...while others have lesser problems ( which again are due to personal choices made by themselves). Whatever it is, the path you chose, is the path you will take and suffer along with it. To change that path but asking for lots of money to lessen your personal issues is just like telling others.. 'Hey!..I messed up my life and now I have brought another life into this world so can you all donate money to resolve MY problems? I myself won't buy the above statement...but I believe there are alot of ppl who think they're are doing good by donating to such cause! What's your take? ================================================================= The only real recourse is to have ppl behaving responsibly and making good and sound judgement, based on what eventual outcome that will befall them!
  2. Hi there ppl, need your advices. I have just changed my brake pad for the front tyres and I am having a lot of break dust. In the past, I used Armouroil rim cleaner but it seems that it had stripped some of my lacquer off my rims and I have stopped using them since then. In the past when using the rim cleaner, my rims did not get dirty that fast. Any suggestions on what type of rim cleaner that I should use to prevent this dust break from accumulating? Better if have pictures and inform me where to find the product and etc.. Frequency of washing car is once a week, and self wash. Thanks.
  3. Was at Anchorpoint(Queensway opp IKEA) last night shopping. I parked at the carpark underneath at B2. As I came out of the lift, I saw all the cars queued from the exit gantry all the way to the other end of the carpark. At first I tot "sianz liao, long queue" then I realise the cars are not moving. I looked at the exit point, apparently the barrier fail to lift up and there appears to be some mechanical fault. There's no staff around and it looked like the carpark attendant altready call it a day as the boxoffice is closed. I saw some cars trying to leave the exit from the entrance when the barrier lift up. But for the rest of the car they were stuck. As I was walking to my ride with my wife, I saw some guy looking at the exit gantry trying to call for help. He took out his handphone and looked like his calling some helpline. But looked it the helpline didn't get through. Cos I saw him putting his phone way and walk back to his car. That's when some chaos start. SOME JOKER started horning and to my surprise, EVERYONE START HORNING!! I was like "WTF, you think horning the barrier will lift up?" Then there's silents again and then EVERYONE STARTED HORNING again.... I told my wife to stay put beside the our ride, I walked towards the gantry. At this time, an uncle also came forward. "Looks like it's broken" we discussed. Then the HORNING STARTED AGAIN....it's as though it's some synchronised ochestra.. We walking around the gantry. I was looking at the ticket box trying to figure a way to call for assistance. Then the uncle did some that I was very impressed. He walked to the barrier and simply LIFT IT UP. "Go Go GO!" he shouted to the cars.....all the cars start moving off. Some wave back at us thanking us, some didn't even care. I thanked the uncle and we walked back to our rides. I see that all the cars managed to lift the carpark and was relieved. Got back into our rides and left (the stupid gantry still deduct my cashcard while I pass it) Conclusion: 1) To uncle who drives the Volvo SUV, kudos to you for thinking out of the box to solve the problem. I hope to have such keen instuition as you. :) 2) To guy who tried to call for help but give up. My wife saw you horned. Thanks for at least trying to do something, though I have to admit we really "just follow law"....didn't think hard enough out of the box....but at least we try to do something. 3) To the rest of idiots who only sit in their cars, wasting their own petrol and HORN HORN HORN, waiting for problems to be solve (esp thoses thankless ones). Shame on you! You must one who only know how to kaopeh this and that, scold gahmen and do nothing. It the event of disaster, you will be the ones stranded and first to die and yet kaopehs and do nothing only. Hope you learn some lesson someday.
  4. Paya Lebar Underpass Opens not sure if anyone here commutes regularly along this stretch. However since the opening of the underpass it hasn't solved any congestion but rather shifting the jam from A to B. In the mornings the jam is now shifted to the next junction (PL & Macpherson) and stretches till the end of the underpass. and similarly for the evenings...traffic jams starts from the Lor Ah Soo junction till how sun dr area. $$$ spend and resolved the problem? Maybe not...there are really too many cars on the roads with more quotas and cheaper COE. so again time to setup the gantries?
  5. Good morning, Welcome to my weekly PAP morning assembly prep talk. I would like to share with you an encounter last night while on the way home from City to Woodlands. As I just passed Yishun exit and still in SLE, traffic was relatively light at 12am. Roads started to get congested due to some road hoggers in front. Well, I was still on 110km/hour, an ideal speed in SLE after Yishun on the right lane. Passed by a low-down Vios who is in the middle lane at 100km/hour. Sensing my "high-speed" which is actually a decent speed I would be since this wont get my liscence chop, this joker sped up and tried to race with me with his "hard-to-cum-still-must-cum" low down cheapo yen car. Obviously I wasnt impressed. Here I am rushing for time back to my flat in Woodlands to pang-sai after my supper and this low-down cannot make it cheapo car not happy that i go at 110km/hour. Never mind, I kept to my lane. Next up, I approached a Subaru 1.6 on the right lane, hogging at 100km/hour. Again, another "hard-to-cum-still-must-cum" cheapo 1.6l car. I cant be bothered to high-beam or honk so I overtook this tortoise from the middle lane. Wah, this first vios desperately pumped up and can see that its coming so fast at 140-150km/hour just to overtake me from the left when i was in the middle lane keeping to a decent 110km/hour safety speed with no acceleration at all since I have reached an ideal speed. Then come the encore, this subaru cannot-make-it 1.6 just whacked his accelerator ALL the way and pump up to 140-150km/hour just to overtake me on my RIGHT and race with the cannot-make-it vios at the same time thinking I was also "racing" Here I am.. one lousy VIOS car thinking i am racing with him trying so hard to reach a speed which can make his liscence gone on my LEFT.. then another simply cheapo milo can SUBAROO zoomed past me at an equal speed, thinking both have " beaten " me. Can see they cheonging all the way at 150km/hour towards the next exit just to "prove" that they have " won " while I am featuring my accelerator ( not even 20% floored ) in the middle lane. I reached home safely and rushed to the tandas to relieve my load. Argh... thats really shiok. I will be the first to laugh if a TP were to get them cos their liscence will be chopped while I merely used up my credits gathered over the years and enjoy fresh credits next year. young punks nowdays got one ego problems. It must be something to do with the education race. Many of them cannot make it in schools and buay-tak-chey ( cannot study ) so they gota buy a car and show off to people that they are " there " already. They keep thinking big cars are out to race with them and they feel happy just to accelerate to "overtake" the bigger continental cars. Its just ay oung police corporal earning peanuts $1500/ month living in a one-room HDB flat using up ALL his family fortunes to buy a soup-up Colt sports trying to let people think he is rich. Poor means poor. Accept the fact and work hard to be a rich man. If you aint good enough, life will kick you in the balls.
  6. Hi bros, just wanna your feed back on this issue.. Do you face problems especially at night, to find a parking lot in your own carpark? After that knowing that your slots have been taken up by cars that do not have season? Worst still, putting night coupon when your car park does not have night parking. That is what is happening to me and the rest of the car owners in my area. I find that we car season holders are forced to pay and park on double yellow lines and outside of a designated lot. If you were in our shoes, what will you do? Fyi, how i know the cars do not have season is becoz i see them at times getting summons and also 'kancong' when fatimah is in the area. I have already inform the parking enforcement via their hotlines but seems that they do not care also. Maybe anyone of u guys got friends who are parking attendent and want business? Hehe they may come here and get good business...
  7. Hi all, I have recently noticed that my starter seem to take longer to start up my engine after 3 years of use and while this is no surprise in itself, what scares me is at times, the starter just crank and stop dead even when the key still remains in turned position. Anything wrong here and would appreciate advice on what needs to be changed. Many thanks! GC
  8. Am a newbie driver and would appreciate advice on some possible problems with my 1.5 month old Honda Civic 1.6 Auto. When starting the engine in the mornings and in the evenings (after work), when warming up the car I can feel the cabin vibrating relatively aggressively, more so than I remembered when I first got the car. I typically warm up for 2 to 3 mins before driving off. The vibration does lessen after some driving. Is this vibration normal? The steering wheel doesn

  11. i'm sure by now, we're aware of new transport policies kicking in. The problem i feel with the policy makers is they don't want to compromise on something to make things better. The comments made in ST today said with higher COE prices, used car prices will go up and ppl can start buying cars again. In other words, will the reduced COE truly reduce car population? Unless COE prices become ridiculously high, and the quota becomes so limited, i doubt we can see a reduction of cars on our roads. Let's face it, ERP doesn't really solve the problem. Only a very restricted COE supply can solve the problem. But will our policy makers accept a drop in car sales? that will result in less tax for them to earn. Unfortunately, that's not how our policy makers are approaching things. They want to have the cake and eat it. You want free flowing traffic? Reduce car sales. Some wallets will be hurt but that's the best overall for us. If not, it'll be quite meaningless to own or drive a car here with jams all over the place.
  12. Any bros here made full payment for your car and receive IRAS notice? I'm considering between taking a loan and making full payment. Heard friends said if you make full payment, IRAS might call you up for checking. How true is this? Any bros kana before? If really so troublesome, i would rather opt for loan. Pls advice. Thanks.
  13. Hi I joined the forum to learn a bit more about cars. I bought a used Evo VIII from a dealer in Bangkok and a test revealed that it's got many problems. 15. Sami Hyypia scores again but for the wrong side. As reported at ESPN Soccernet : In the city that saw Liverpool's greatest triumph of modern times, their involvement in this season's Champions League was all but ended. Liverpool were behind early on to a Serdar Ozkan effort which deflected in off central defender Sami Hyypia. And from then on the Anfield men toiled and laboured in an increasingly desperate attempt to avoid a humiliating defeat. Liverpool's obvious need to win this clash was underlined by the inclusion of two wingers - Ryan Babel and Jermaine Pennant - in Rafael Benitez's starting line-up. There were just two changes from the side that won at Everton on Saturday, Gerrard was back in the centre of midfield, with Mohamed Sissoko and Yossi Benayoun left out. Although in control 0f 64% possession, Liverpool can kiss goodbye to Champ League soccer. For sure, I will not loose my sleep over this Sunday match against Arsenal.
  16. 1. ok, whenever i go really slow over humps or road irregularities, the rear suspension seems to be squeaking. like "quuuiick quuuuick" does this mean the shocks are goners? or is this because of the bouncier shortened springs? if i am correct, i have KYB sports adjustables + shortened EP80 springs. 2. also when reversing, seems like there's squeaking from the wheels. no brakes applied. doesn't sound too normal... what gives? no noise going forward. 3. brake squeals when braking lightly, but firm braking does not produce any noise. Ferodo pads. are they gone?
  17. This morning while driving to work, felt that there were random knocking sounds coming from the rear under-carriage area. After stopping my car at the carpark, i looked underneath to check if anything was dangling or loosely attached, nothing. I opened up the boot and there were a few tools that have fallen out of the tool pouch and i wonder if that was the culprit. Nonetheless, later i'll check again if the sound continues. If it does, what most likely is the cause?
  18. Hi guys, Changed the front brake pads recently and although the pads fit into the caliper frame, they are smaller than stock. Here are some pics for better illustration, besides suffering from uneven rotor wear, are there any other safety issues involved? Feeling very uneasy, going to install back the stock pads asap. Bloody workshop insisted its fine and safe. New pad Stock Caliper piston not pushing against pad completely Distinct difference in pad size
  19. Hi, I'm driving a Colt manual, every time I go over a hump or some uneven road with at least 2 rear passengers, a knocking sound can be heard and felt by the passengers. I've complain the problem to C&C and they remove and install rear coil spring and insulate with rubber hose. However the problem is still there I've ask one of my friend who also own a Colt and he's also having the same problem but his knocking sound is worst than mine maybe due to the sports rims. C&C told him that this is a manufacture fault and they have reported it to Mitsubishi and there may be a recall I wonder how true is that Does any Colt owners out there has the same problem as mine?
  20. I've had this problem ever since the 4AT gearbox was in there, in neutral or parking gear, when i rev >3k rpm after releasing throttle, rpm drops suddenly and too drastically low like 500rpm, sometimes the ecu recovers in time, most of the time engine stall now the problem bugs me more since on manual now. rev rev, clutch in, rpm drop to low, engine stall. sometime after WOT, coming to a stop must brake and clutch in then engine also die cos rpm dips way too low what could cause this? i arldy adjust idling to 800 from 680rpm previously but i noticed that the rpm still dips to the same level of 500 before stalling
  21. As above with regards to the recent commotion on the papers.. dun know whether it is still ongoing ?
  22. just now drove to dinner with family.. before that, pumped air at Caltex station.. 23. ... as related to me by a C&C sales person when I went with my friend to C&C this morning to view the Lancer. For your info. 1. The Lancer GDI 1.5 is problematic, hence C&C has decided to stop bringing in this model. 2. The main problems faced hy the C&C workshop (GDI engines) is the clogged fuel injector (which does not SPRAY fuel to save fuel, but trickles fuel drop by srop instead). This leads to the cylinder head being chocked with carbon, esp for thsoe cars which ownrs do not freely rev the engine. 3. GDI is more suited for bigger engines. The Pajero with GDI did not face any such problems 4. The MIVEC engine (found in the current Lancer 1.8 ) must be sent back to C&C for servicing as it needs special diagnostic equipment. Those older Lancers with MIVEC engines developed problems when owners sent them for servicing outside after the warranty period.
  24. Hi guys, there is alot of discussion why Czech auto brought in the MPI instead of the 1.6 FSI which is in the golf V. 1) less power and less fuel efficiency when using 95 instead of 98. True, because i get the same problem with my regular 1.6SR. the car is smoother, has better mileage with 98 than 95, so i don't see why the fsi is any different. 2) Fsi so must use 98 octane? I have come back from US and most of the VW and Audi there are 2.0T FSI versions, including the Audi A4 2.0T fsi i got as a rental. The problem is, they don't have 98 fuel, in fact, they don't even have 95 fuel. What they have as the highest is 91. We don't see them having problems with the fsi engines so i don't see why fsi can't use 95 fuel. Yes, they have lower power, etc, but that also happens to regular engines too! I know europe and japan have low sulphur fuel, but i don't think US does and neither do we ..... attached pic of US fuel pump at Chevron i took this with my hp:
  25. I know many car owners had staggered wheels set up where the rear is wider than front, eg 225 front 245 or 255 rear. Whilst its nice to look at, are there any problems. Ive read of over/under steer , and potential contact with wheel arch?
