  10. The FIA is proposing to mandate plexiglass windscreens for the cockpits of formula one cars, according to an Italian report. Autosprint published a photoshopped image of a possible F1 windshield that claims to protect drivers from being struck on the head. The exposure of the drivers' heads made headlines last year, when Felipe Massa was seriously injured by a flying suspension spring, days after Formula Two driver, Henry Surtees, was killed when he drove into the path of a stricken wheel. Autosprint said the proposed protective structure, whilst not impeding driver visibility, would be designed to withstand the impact of a flying wheel and the full 640kg weight of an F1 car. "I'm not saying we need to cover (the cockpit) completely," Ferrari driver Massa said after recovering from his skull injuries. "But maybe there are some other things we can do to the car to stop a wheel hitting your head." He added. After those incidents last year, Bernie Ecclestone said Professor Sid Watkins - the president of the FIA Institute for Motor Sport Safety - had been commissioned to look into the issue. The renewed push for driver head safety also came just six weeks after the nose of Vitantonio Liuzzi's Force India rode up and almost struck Michael Schumacher's head during the 2010 season finale in Abu Dhabi. The report said the solution would also need to take into consideration its aerodynamic impact, including the flow of air to the engine airbox and the wings.
  11. Hi all, My door handle area suffered from finger nail scratches. I saw some cars actually come originally with it or can affixed with aftermarket cover plate to protect against finger nail scratches. Do you guys know where to get them? Thank you very much. Regards,
  12. Hi all, I believe we have all heard that the thinner the engine oil, the easier it is to flow to various parts of the engine thereby giving better protection during start up? But, I realised that lube oil pumps are basically gear pump, they are positive displacement pumps, where capacity is directly proportional to the rotation speed. The capacity of gear pumps should not be affected by the viscosity of engine oil under our local climate, whether 0w20 or 20w50 the flow rate from a positive displacement pump should be almost the same, right? Maybe cold countries where temperature are freezing and the pour point of oil are affected, then perhaps the engine oil viscosity would affect the capacity of gear pumps. The oil if get too thick due to cold weather then the relieve valve of the pump will blow (by-pass back to suction?) due to higher pumping pressure, so discharge volume will reduce. If that is the case, then for our local environment whether using thinner or thicker oil the protection should be same at start-up? Perhaps the advantage of thinner oil is only for better fuel efficiency only? What do you think?
  13. I had to remove my tyre runflat protection bands from UK. All corroded. $$$$$$ gone. Fortunately, discovered earlier before they gave way inside tyres while driving. They are also heavy and worn out absorbers prematurely, affects acceration
  14. Hi all, There are so many brands of those anti-solar products out there in the market. How do you guy choose the right one for your car? Do you simply go by the cheapest one? I have seen inferior one, which give you bubbles of air as time goes by and also expensive one that blocks high percentage of UV. So how to choose one that is suitable for our climate, not worry about being caught by LTA not be conned by the installer? Kindly advise us. Thank you very much. Regards,

It is an exclusive plan to protect our customers from being suffocated in the event of retrenchment. Through this plan, Cars & Stars, and our financing arm Speed Credit Pte Ltd, will assist the customer in paying his car loan repayments should he get retrenched. This will allow our customer to conserve his savings, and also channel his resources into necessary living expenses and getting a new job; instead of worrying about the upcoming car loan repayment. 22. How to you do maintenance for your wheel? Here's what I do and please feel free to comment. And please teach, if you think there are better ways. Priority is result. 1) Wash with Wheel cleaner or car wash or even degreaser if required (I checked the labels to make sure they are not acidic, e.g. in the Meg range some are acidic, some are not) 2) Prep with Paint cleaner. (e.g. Swissvax cleaner fluid, Do Do Juice, Zymol HD Cleanse) 3) Protection (Wheel Wax like Swissvax Autobahn which can be put on like normal wax, Or Sonax Spray on wheel protect which needs 1 hour to cure).
  23. Instead of leather wipes, you may wish to try using Johnson & Johnson moisturizer to detail your leather seat. No need for huge quantity, just a bit and your leather is going to smell good and protected (Not too sure if it really will do the job). I was impressed by the wet and slick look when my girlfriend's father uses that on his leather seats.
