  1. Many would think that supercars only existed during more modern times and cars, for example before the Second World War, were big, heavy and dead slow. And some believed or felt that the Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing (built in 1952) was the first ever production supercar as it was the fastest production car at that time. If only Auto Union had succeeded in its plans of building a seriously fast sports car that is available to drive on the roads. The name Auto Union might not ring a bell to most people. Auto Union was a combination of four German auto manufacturers in the 1930s which has evolved into what we know today as Audi AG. The four companies were Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. In 1932, all four companies combined under one group which was named Auto Union. One of the reasons for these four companies to combine was that their businesses were struggling and basically it would be better for them to combine. Although all four companies continued to build car under their respective names, they began to share technologies; for example Audi began to use engines from Horch and Wanderer. During the same time, Ferdinand Porsche and Adolf Rosenberger started an auto racing manufacturing company which was named Hochleistungs Motor (High Power Engines). The two began to develop a Grand Prix spec race car. Auto Union received some cash assistance from the government to develop a race car to use for Grand Prix competition (Mercedes Benz also received some money for the same purposes). And from there Auto Union bought the company Porsche started and with the plans Porsche had, they began to compete in Grand Prix races. Auto Union won many races during the 1935-1937 Grand Prix events. But even before they started winning all these races, the plans and ideas of a super sports car that can be built for road use was already conjured up by Porsche and chief engineer Karl Rabe. Together with the help of Erwin Komenda, Porsche drew up plans for a road going super sports car known as the Type 52. The Type 52 would get the same 4.4 litre V16 engine from Auto Union

  6. I don't know whether this has been discussed here before but ever since I started pumping petrol in Malaysia 2 years ago I have been wondering whether there is really any difference in the quality between the 2 countries other than the prices. Especially when Malaysia also have V Power 97 and V Power Racing. I presumed their V Power 97 is equivalent to our Shell 98? So any brothers here think or know whether their V Power Racing is the same as our V Power here? Please comment. Thanks!!

  14. Hi Bros, I have got a pair of SSCUS CSP Reclinable Racing Seats for sale. Beige in colour. Currently out of car so no need to swap. Condition is 8 for passenger side and 6 for driver - Slightly torn on the driver's wing nearer to the door (Usual place since always rub when getting in and out of car). Material is Microfibre Fabric. It is currently on Toyota Starlet EP 80 rails (May fit old models Corolla I suppose) but can be modified for any cars. The shade is not dirty, it's because of the material. http://www.sscus.com.my/ Go to >Products > Recline Seats > 7 Price at $200 cash & Carry ... Nego Please PM if interested. 17. Volkswagen motor racing representative Hans-Joachim Stuck has applauded F1's radical engine formula for 2013. The German car giant and its subsidiary Porsche have been linked with a possible F1 foray in the near future if the sport moves away from its current V8 engine formula. Recently in Monaco, the FIA green-lighted a new efficient formula for 2013 featuring small energy-efficient turbo engines. "The conditions for a possible entrance of the Volkswagen group have been created," hailed Stuck. He is also quoted by rp-online.de: "We have not decided anything, but we very much welcome the FIA's decision." In addition, Stuck reportedly told Bild am Sonntag newspaper: "The engine rules are a good starting point for Volkswagen in formula one." Mercedes' motor racing boss Norbert Haug said the new rules will slash engine budgets by "at least a quarter". The existing 1.4 Twincharger is already generating 180 bhp in certain applications. How about a 1.6L Twincharger producing well above 200 bhp for F1 ?!
