  1. Can someone explain the rationale behind debadging a real Type R? If I had a real Type R, I would leave the shiny badge on for the whole world to see. It is only when I have a Type R-lookalike that I would remove all badges to sow confusion. Is my analysis correct? Can I conclude that a car that looks like Type R but don't have any badges is most likely an impersonator?
  2. A truly good looking american car. Finally. Check out that interior.
  3. Hi, if your mobile phone plan comes with data plan, it is worth exploring the real-time traffic feature (Traffics in Layers) by Google Map. It is excellent http://www.google.com/mobile/maps/
  4. For sure he is. Because of a $30 fine between this joker and URA, he wasted the reporter time to interview him and wasted my money buying TNP cos one page is wasted on devoting to his story. I rather buy Wanbao with Jack Neo sexual stories which made me horny. A luxury car owner has refused to pay a $30 parking fine, alleging that the parking attendant was biased in issuing the fines. Mr Wilson Ang, 23, parked his Mercedes-Benz SLK convertible in a lot along Circular Road, near Boat Quay at 8.10pm on 28 Feb. He was there to buy dinner for his wife and returned 10 minutes later to find he had been given a ticket for not displaying a coupon. He claims that his car was the only one in the entire row booked, although there were other cars that did not have parking coupons displayed. Mr Ang said: "It's not that I'm not aware that I have broken the rules. I just don't feel that the authorities should be biased when they are issuing tickets." He has also sent an e-mail to the Urban Redevelopment Authority, but has received no response. – additional reporting by Vinna Yip and Emily Wong, newsroom interns

  7. Football has been and will always be the passion of many Singaporeans I have to declare that I am NOT a football fan because I have you may say 2 LEFT feet The puzzling question is - what is all this hype about FIFA charges and all? If the responsible authorities are really interested and sincere, they are capable of raising all the DOLLARS they wall, they have their ways like the FORUMLA 1 also isnt it true that Lau Goh has said publically that Singapore should be in the finals in the 2010 world cup did I had to pay for TV licence when I believe ALL the First World country had do without it already What is the problem with these guys? Malaysia, mind you, NOT first world country, will telecast World CUp Suddenly, I have lost appetite for any BALL especially FOOTBALL but will the real responsible BALL please do the responsible thing that is PICK UP the BALL and MOVE ON TO OUR TV sets get the BALL moving, on behalf of my FOOTBALL crazy friends
  8. I had bought a second hand 15" sports rim and tyre for my Honda Fit. Rim as according to the shop is after market Japanese rim. Not sure what he means by that. Tyre is Bridgestone RE040 with about 80% thread. Then when inspecting the rim for any damage. Only a kerb rash of about 2" at the edge of one of the rim. I ask him how to see whether it is Japanese rim he point to an Enkei logo inside the rim telling me it is from Japan. So I paid $350 for the rim and tyre. Is it expensive? Am I carrot? So is there really such a thing "after market" Japanese rim with Enkei logo at the back? I din trade in anything because my existing is using the 14" wheel cover rim and Aspec A300 factory fitted. Please advice. I will post the pic tomolo to show you guys the rim.
  9. Tue, Oct 27, 2009 AsiaOne Top 8 reasons why real men drive manual More and more Singaporeans are now favouring cars with automatic or semi-automatic transmissions. Even car dealers find it impractical to bring in manual transmission cars (where can we get a six-speed manual Golf GTI without indenting one?). It's a vicious cycle. But real men still drive manual cars, according to an AskMen.com article. We list here their some of their top reasons: 8) A manual transmission is the ultimate in control The manual transmission is for the alpha male, the one holding the TV remote. Men would rather be the boss than the subordinate. A car with a manual transmission lets the driver be the boss of the car, says AskMen.com. Throttle response will always be immediate unlike some modern automatic boxes. We tend to agree. 7) You can use motoring jargon and not sound like a total fool Having the ability to drive stick can make you sound like an authority on all things motoring when chatting to the fairer sex, even if you don't know what you're blabbering about. Unless your date is a motoring journalist. 6) You can't spell "manual" without "man" Our favourite reason among AskMen.com's top ten list. Manual transmission is man because you can't say one without saying the other. Try saying "manual" without first saying "man". Automatic boxes aren't considered cool and they have nicknames to go along with it. "Slushbox", for instance. "Flappy paddle gearboxes" just doesn't cut it as well. To AskMen.com, "nothing flappy will ever be manly." 5) Manual transmissions prove you can multi-task Society looks up to people who can multi-task complex motor movements. Just look at the guy who got famous by shaking his hands and legs in different directions. He got hired by Visa for their ads. Shifting a manual car is also quite complex. You have to release the accelerator with the right foot, depress the clutch with the left, use your right hand to select a different gear and then simultaneously release the clutch as you accelerate, hoping to engage clutch and throttle at that optimum rpm. 4) You can't drift in an auto Hmm. AskMen.com says drifting is the most extreme form of car control. Driving it sideways requires a massive set of, erm, courage, and a car with a manual transmission. A manual transmission is beneficial for drifting because you can keep the engine in the sweet spot of its powerband. Try it in an auto and watch the fun die as the transmission shifts up early and kills the power. Ivan Lim, Singapore's top drift driver manoevuring his car in a drift movement. And him showng TNP reporter Joyce Lim the basics of drifting in his Toyota Chaser. 3) No more fancy moves in an automatic There'll be no more heel-toe technique in an automatic, considered to be the elite driving manoeuvre in the motor racing world, says AskMen.com. The heel-toe manoeuvre allows one to downshift, rev-match and brake all at once. The driver will operate the clutch normally with the left foot. The ball of the right foot will be on the brake, slowing the car down, while at the same time the right heel of the foot will "blip" the throttle during gear change. This will match engine speed to the wheel speed. Benefits? It keeps the engine in the desired powerband and reduces drivetrain jolt, greatly reducing wear and tear on the transmission. 2) Manual transmission cars are more fun Having control over your is advantageous. An engine performs best at a certain rpm range, the "sweet spot" so to speak. At the "sweet spot" the power curve generally gets more aggressive. With a manual car, says AskMen.com, you can find out exactly where this sweet spot is and keep the car there. But with an automatic, the car will most probably shift up before you hit the spot. 1) You'll never look bad if you can drive manual A friend lent you his car to drive because he's too drunk to get behind the wheel. And being the nice guy that you are, you'll send the ladies home too. Imagine the embarrassment you feel when you reach the car, only to find that it is a manual. Which you can't drive because you're lazy enough to take your driving test in an automatic car. Real men have never experienced such embarrassment. 12. In today Straits Times, One Singaporean wrote in to say that Geylang is Singapore New China Town. The original China Town is just a tourist spot. This gentlemen brought his friends from Hong Kong to visit a few places during their stay here. They have visited China town, Little India and Kampong Glam. They had enjoy the cultural heritage in little India and Kampong Glam but not China Town. But on their last day in Singapore, they went to Geylang to eat durian. They told their Singaporean host that Geylang is the real China town.

  14. Just thinking out loud... Had some friends who in all appearances appear to be successful....but they are still staying in their parents house after marriage, even after they have kids. When I was younger, my dad used to tell me to be a true real man, the very basic is he has to buy and own his own house. While thoses friends of mine will say stuff like..."Oh my husband/I am a very filial child and thats why staying with parents". Then again, there is a difference, a great difference between staying with your parents VERSUS your parents staying with you. If that person is that great, he should have bought his own house (with his own money), invite his parents over and ask them sell the house and keep the money for their (his parents) own use. Hehe being diplomatic, of course I do not say such stuff to those friends. But personally I think no matter how successful they are, they still cannot make it. Whats your take on this?

  21. On the 23rd, 2 car (my car and my friend's car - total 8 of us) drove up to malaysia for dinner at 2nd link-Gelang Patah. After dinner, went to Jusco for shopping. After shopping, we went to JB Taman Sentosa for massage. Both our car was park at some lighted place for opposite is a big food court near the SHELL station where many Singaporean had their seafood there. After the massage, we went back Singapore safely. Everything seems so normal but the real nightmare started when my friends reach her carpark and informed me that her bag where she put her baby's clothing, bottles and her small pouch with IC, Driving License and credit card and some money were all disappeared. The most strange thing is that her bag is placed in the car boot and the car door was confirm locked when we went to massage. The thing that really puzzled us is that the window or windscreen or any part of the car is not damaged and the bag just disappeared in the boot! One thing i can confirmed that the bag is still with us during our Shopping at Jusco and the bag was placed in the car boot after the shopping. We really have no idea what has happened during our massage and who could have did it where they are many people walking around at that food court. Just our luck meeting a magician who can do magic to open car boot without damaging the car. FYI, our unlucky car which lost the bag is a Honda CIVIC. Do take care of your belonging and be extra careful when you are in JB.
  22. Hi guys, Components speakers like Canton, Rainbow, MB Quart, etc....asking for a much cheaper price than most audio shops that does installation. The cheap price is because of profit margin or not a genuine products? Likewise for amps and headsets. Example Alpine CDA9884 $295 (SLT) vs $475 at installer shop . Any experiences?
