  1. Purely for entertainment reading, and purely my personal opinion, I find some drivers of certain car models carry unique (or should I say predictable) behaviour in them. I'm not stereotying, but it seems there is a pattern I do see quite consistently in these drivers. Here's my short list:- 1) Sonata Taxis - enough have been discussed about them 2) Kia Coup (more so with the 2 doors) - really wonder why most drivers would want to challenge you at the lights, or showing off on the road. Dying to impress cos they are inferior of their cheap kimchi purchase? 3) Some Altis drivers - bloody aggressive tailgaters 4) Souped up Civics - okie okie, we all know you can drive it fast, so??? 5) Speeding Lorries or trucks - siam them at all cost!!
  2. Hi everyone, someone wrote this on one of the early forum. How true is this? Jag XF owners-care to comment?
  3. an incident happen at Bedok point yesterday evening and i'm sure the driver is one of us here as i was crossing a small service road with my wife, about 2 lane wide, i saw a silver honda civic turning out about 100m away as it is in a open carpark, i've estimate there are plenty of time for me to reach the other side safely since i'm already at center of the 2 way lane. (take about 6 to 7 steps from center to reach the road pavement) know what the mother parker did? instead of maintaining his speed (he need to slow down since exiting the carpark is using cashcard) and i was crossing 4 or 5 meters away from the cashcard barrier, he pick up speed cause can here his exhaust acceleration noise. of course i maintain cool but to avoid trouble just quicken my pace and the CB jam brake and give 3 second horn since his hand is so horny, i just him wtf look, who look like early or mid 20's in an office attire and of course there is a charbor as his passenger who he might be trying to impress with his stunt so i gesture him to come out as predicted he just rev and park off i'm not a person who like to take a yaya walk on road i respect both pedestrian and drivers but this type of drivers if really kena wallop will have no pity from me
  4. Entertaining the idea of installing one. Have always depended on a quick flip of the street directory or my OC as a scout if I am not sure of the way. Too many new roads and buildings keepn popping out and I am always lost in the Tuas area. Could be time to install a Garmin. Anyone with a GPS end up regreting or not using it much?
  5. Everytime at traffic ligth they will accelerate much faster than me one. They can easily pull a 20m gap ahead of me with ease man... Despite me revving till 2.4K RPM then change gear still no way to catch them. These cabs are really powerful. Sorry, edit... its till 2.4K RPM, not 2K. 2K is what I normally change gear at. ITs not when I drive harder.
  6. Last week they called me told me to go back to my reservist unit (2PDF) medical to endorse my specialist referral letter to defer my upcoming ICT. So i took half day off just to endorse it as they do not entertain fax in copy. Fine, went to Jurong camp 2 and end up being redirected to Clementi Camp as i was told that the correct unit for endorsement is Clementi Camp (2PDF HQ) medical centre. WTF, they said my usual reservist unit so i though is ITI Jurong Camp 2 and end up wasted my trip there. Luckily Clementi Camp quite near so fine no complaint. Then when i was about to exit Jurong Camp 2 comes the THUNDER STORM and worst part is the guard house doesn't have any shelter! NBCB!! All wet... drivers side all wet.. fine.. move on. Reached Clementi Camp and NBCB another guard house without shelter. WET again.. driver's side 2x wetter. Fine.. went in still have to filled up 3x declaration form with all sorts of informations.. like draft a will. Fine.. filled up take a sit relax wait for them to call me in. Finally my turn, went in and show the MO LTA (Fat young punk, i wonder how he pass his IPPT and with his size how he graduate from OCS). He see my letter and say, "SIR, when's your next medical appointment?" I said "31 August this month". He replied: "Sir, can you come back again after your next medical appointment because your reservist is on OCT and i need to see how's your "illness" status after you visited your next medical appointment". WAH NBCB, i ji tao say "SIR, first, i took half day to attend this medical review. Second, it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to committ another medical review with the SAF as i do not want to skip another half day just to come here again IF you gonna ASK ME TO COME BACK AGAIN. It's stupid and a waste of my time even i have a referral letter from my specialist". The MO then said... "Uhhhhhhhhh... but i'm not sure whether can i defer your ICT or not but i will try because to be frank, i've seen more serious illness than you but nonetheless i'll submit the letter to medical chair for review and they will let you know e results again. Meanwhile, i'll excuse you from RT/IPPT for the next 3 month. I replied: "SIR, i don't need you to excuse me from IPPT/RT because i went for my charge and was excused for MISSING MY IPPT because of my current sickness and all i need you is to ENDORSE my referral letter, submit it up and case close." NBCB.. really waste of my time. Wet nvm... end up gotten this kinda MO.. SAF.. really BWG.
  7. I met a total aholee today.. I hope he's here to see this coZ i jUZ got one line for him "U drive the Audi S series like a Pu$$y and u're a disgrace to the car" I was travelling along ECP towards changi airport near maxwell road exit (ie near MBS). Then this faggot was driving at 80 along lane 1. In front is a clear road all the way. I got a little impatient and flash lights at him. He then steer to lane 2 to let me pass. I accelerated and overtake him arh. Then all of a sudden he decided to go into rage. He accelerated on lane 2 trying to overtake me. of coZ i wld nv allow that to happen and accelerated more to make him stuck in lane 2 traffic. he then switch lane again attempting to do the same but failed. There after he used any road space he can find juZ to get ahead of me. Now he is infront and im behind on lane 2. then he decide to play braking on me. and went dead slow near the KPE (TPE) and fort road exit. We literally stop. then he played the "safety car" and go slow trying to keep me behind. I knew it was no pt playing wit him as he's car is too powerful. I wish i was driving my merc then. Still i followed him at his speed all the way till he exited the ECP. My pt is why drive ur Audi S like a pu$$y and then when someone overtake u, u cry like a baby and become a spoil spot? And srsly 80 along lane 1 on clear traffic is unreasonable. I can uds if it was done by some auntie/uncle but an Audi S in an ah beng hands? Its juZ a shame to not only himself but the car
  8. Capture the face of the driver,? I feel it's unlikely.. Looking at the angle unless it's a convertible
  9. Can choosing a correct president prevent this perfect storm from affecting Singapore? Just wondering how come this warning comes not from my beloved PM Lee?

  11. hi bros, need some recommendations as above. this would be helpful for bros who also have stiff neck back and etc. truth is there are many tui na shops but to find a tui na master is another thing personally i find that during tui na, one has to endure a certain amt of pain, and if the tuina shifu did not press the right pts you end up with blue black over the next few days. been to one yishun tcm who has an expert tui na guy but they dont do full sessions (not as profitable as tcm i guess) and according to the guy the ideal situation is tui na that does not hurt that much but at the same time heals
  12. Is Amsoil engine oil really so good?
  13. I made some frens whose friendship lasts until today....40yrs later from recruit time... Also, my first taste of inefficiency of civil/military service, it was an eye opener for me at 18
  14. My car manual recommendations for fuel is at minimum 91 RON. I am to have a long trip to Thailand and found out that Thailand mostly selling Gasohol 95 E10 ( 10% ethanol ) except for a few stations selling pure Benzene . The highest the sell is 91 RON. In Singapore, I normally fill up my car 95 or 98. And the manufacturer told me Gasohol will not be allowed for my car. So I was thinking, if I head North, I have to pump 91 RON for my entire trip but definitely the performance will be very sluggish. I was wondering, any bros have experience pumping lower grade fuel and pump in some Octane booster to boost up? If so, what brand is recommendable and how much must I fill for a 80 Lit tank? thank you very much and any inputs appreciate!!!
  15. My boss was told my the big bosses "No more foreigners for permanent positions. That means not even PRs." Well....... Good and bad. I mean, I really can feel for Singapore, but, s--t, it's really difficult finding someone for this job....
  16. Has anyone told starhub abt their farking irritating banner on every internet page? >:(
  17. something i read in FB I'm writing this note because I'm about to "disengage". I feel that as a political science student, I should address a few misconceptions about politics made by both incumbant and opposition supporters. So here it goes: 1. Oppositions are not called opposition because they opposed to everything the incumbant proposed. Opposition is a classification for political parties that do not hold power within the parliament. In Chinese, oppositions should actually be called 在野党, instead of 反对党. 2. Do not confused the government with the ruling party/incumbant. The government constitute both the executive branch, civil servants, national boards, ministries, etc. Voters are voting for a parliamentary representative. The parliament is the legistlative branch of the government. The ruling political party is a SUBSET of the government. In Chinese, they are called 执政党 and not 政府. 3. Building on point 2, it's not rational to claim that the Singapore government will collapse should a political party fail. This is a big discredit to our civil service. But on the other hand, because the ruling party has control of the parliament, it's leadership failure will have repercussions on Singapore. The nuances here is the extent. To suggest that Singapore will go straight back to third world is absurd. If I am to put it simply, a strong executive (civil service) but a weak legislative (parliament) means that we have weak(non encompassing) policies. A weak executive but a strong legislative means that we have weak(corruption, poor execution etc) policies too. 4. On the point of civil service. The institutions and civil servants are supposed to be non partisan (do not take sides). The basis of civil service is to serve the people and not any political party interest. There is absolutely nothing wrong for a civil servant to vote for or against the incumbant. It's a matter of personal choice. They are citizens first. The non partisan nature of the civil service is also the reason why civil servants that want to be part of the legislative branch needs to resign from the service. It's imperative that the civil servants need to be non partisan because if they are not, they have failed in their duties towards the people they are supposed to serve. Afterall, the civil service exist for the people, not for any political parties. 5. It's naive of anyone to think that politics is fair. Politics is NEVER fair. Every political party seeks to protect its own interests for survival. Perhaps, thinking of political parties as companies within an industry. Each of them will try their best to gain a bigger market share. Some may try to tweak the rules of engagement, some may try guerilla marketing etc. But at the end of the day, they are always looking to ensure their own survival. We as consumers should be aware that when a company is selling their products, they will use whatever trick they have up their sleeves to convince you that they are better than their competitors ( read promises, fear mongering, gunslinging etc). What we as consumers can do, is to assess these products and decide for ourselves, which is better. 6. Because every political party(company) seeks to protect their own interest, sometimes the country (industry) will suffer. Think of it as the tragedy of the commons. In their attempts to fight for a foothold/obtain a bigger market share, the tactics they used may often result in the country or elements within the country to be worse off. Politics is dirty. We the consumers are often at the losing end. Time to time, we will suffer from poor services and empty promises. Parties tell you to examine their track records and if you scrutinize, you will find many examples where these parties have compromised the country/elements within the country interest to benefit the party's interest. This is where the consumer needs to take a stand. They need to make a judgement on what's enough. On whether political parties have in their opinion compromised the common good for their party's good. Let's give an analogy. Microsoft had been offering the best product (windows) by sabotaging competitors' products, forcing merchants to only carry their products and buying over new start ups. While the product is good, we have to ask ourselves if the consumers are shortchanged by Microsoft's monopolic tactics. Could the industry be better off, if we have alternative system developed by Apple for example? 7. Point 6 leads me to switching cost. Many people had been arguing that if there are opposition voices in parliament, there will be gridlock, inefficiency and potliticking etc. Borrowing the same analogy from above, there are obviously switching cost. The familarity of mac users with windows and windows user with mac is the obvious switching cost one needs to consider when we choose which operating system we want to use. (or we can use linux). However, what most people got it wrong is the cost of switching. In a parliamentary system, you only need a majority 50% of the votes to pass through most legislative bills. To put it simply, as long as one party after 8th of May, have 44 seats out of the 87 seats; Provided that they are all vote yeh to the bill, bills will pass through. The only bills that cannot pass through with a simple majority are constitutional amendments. That requires 75% of the votes. Constitution is a big word and perhaps many people are not familiar with it. So let me use the company example again. The board of directors can pass "bills" to inform the CEO to make strategic decisions for the company. However, if the board of directors want to make drastic changes such as increasing the number of board members, increasing the pay for board members etc, then they have to gather more than just a simple majority. To summarize, fears of gridlocks, government lockdown or whatever are highly unlikely in the Singapore political landscape. 8. This leads me to the talk about efficiency. Please do not confuse efficiency with effectiveness. We as consumers, citizens of Singapore, ideally, we want both efficiency and effectiveness. However, the the most efficient policy may not be the most effective. The most effective policy may not be the most efficient. I will give you an example. Smoking. If we want to make Singapore smoke-free in the shortest possible time (efficient), we can ban cigarettes. However, this is not likely to be effective because a black-market will arise and the interest of the smokers are being ignored. A more effective policy will be education to discourage non smokers from picking it up and to encourage smokers to quit. However, that's definitely not the most efficient policy. Kind of reminds me of the ethics question, "If you can enslave 5% of the population and increase the welfare of remaining 95% by 100%, will you do that?" It's your own preference, but personally I do prefer to have an effective policy that encompasses all than to have a more efficient policy that get things done quickly but neglect others interest. 9. Talking about interest. Here's what I urged all voters. Do not blame, label others etc. Everyone is voting based on their interest. Their interest maybe greater than themselves but ultimately they are voting on what they are comfortable with. Humans are diverse, some people will choose to buy a product from company A because company A is offering a good product even though they know that the product is coming at the expense of other people. Others have their own moral stand such as refusing to eat shark fin because of the cruelty involved in harvesting it. Like I always say to all, if you can sleep soundly knowing the consequences of what you chose, it's a good decision. To put it more explicitly, think of yourself as a manager deciding whether you should outsource your factory. You know that outsourcing jobs will increase savings and your own profit but will put the workers with you out of a job. There are many solutions to the problem and the decision you make should be one that you can live with it. It's your own moral standing. For my non religious friends, only your conscience can decide. For my religious friends, God will judge if you have live a virtuous life. Not me, not you or any other human being. 10. Last but not least, past performance is not a good indicator of future performance. Using the same analogy. Windows 95 was good. Windows 98 was good too. Windows XP was good. So based on past performance, we can expect Vista to be great? Well I think some will beg to differ. If Windows Vista was F uped, it doesn't mean than Windows 7 will be F uped too. Saying that PAP had been good so they will continue to be good is a fallacy. Likewise, saying that WP had pushed out good candidates like Sylvia Lim in the last election hence Chen Show Mao will be good too is a fallacy. What past performance can provide is a hint to how the new "products" will be. Our experience should be limited to that particular product and not the company. Microsoft is not great just because Windows 95, 98, XP, 7 are good products, neither is Microsoft shitty just because Vista is F-uped. Some ministers in their previous terms have not done so well. It's up to you whether you want to stick with Vista or change to Mac. Of course, things are not so easy. Microsoft in it's self interest will try to protect its marketshare. So they bundled the excellent Office Package like Excel, Words, with their Vista OS. For some other markets, they bundled Windows 7 with inferior stuff like notepad, paint, pictureviewer, and movie maker. If only I can choose exactly what products I want. Alas, the companies will never let me do that and I have to make a decision that I can live with. To choose Mac by punishing Microsoft monopolistic behavior and deal with the switching cost of readapting to a new OS. Or to choose Microsoft and affirm that their product is indeed good and I'm willing to overlook the risk of only knowing how to use one OS. Note: My PolScience friends, if I made any mistakes here and there, please point it out, if I do k. :)
  18. hope they will do it in tonight's rally as i am going.
  19. I came across the following website: http://www.phrc.eee.ntu.edu.sg/People/Page...earch_phrc.aspx Look at the number of foreigners in that web page. Singapore really have no local talents? I hope they don't say 80% of the staff and students in our universities are Singaporeans. BTW, we are not talking about construction or shipyard workers.
  20. Hello brothers and sisters, Do you think the voting in Singapore is really secret and unanimous? Think again. I remember back in 2006? We register at the desk with our NRIC and they compare with their serial numbered list of name/voter. They tear a piece of voting paper with serial number to you, similar to the older cheque book. They will then write your serial number from the name/voter list on the remained stub of this voting paper. This is how they know who vote who. So, is voting in Singapore really secret and unanimous? Pretty easy to know who is behind all this. So where is the fairness? Never has been and never was.
  21. Frankly speaking ah, its my own point of view. Kudos to all the hypes on the Aljunied and Marine Parade. Its is solid! But but, i don't stay there.. I can't vote for them leh. I don't have LTK, Chen Show Mao or even Nicole Seah contesting in my GRC. I been living in my estates for 20++ years. Nothing much changed. Still the same people, buildings, markets, playground etc. All the infra are there, necessities are there. SO, even if the Opp are to come in, how bad can they turn my estate to? I don't see why some MIW are saying we will regret blah blah blah.... The most they let it "rot" there like for the past 5 yrs lo! It has been like that for the past 20 yrs anyway!! BUT what has changed are the policies, the salaries, the cost of living etc. The list goes on, you all know that.... And im really unhappy about the way it is turning out to be! Of all the rallys, nice speeches by them. Really good. Im particularly impressed by what Nicole Seah said. "Do you want a fresh coat of paint at your void deck or a fresh voice in parliament?" This is a good statement to make, to reach out to the whole of SG, rather than her GRC. Too bad i don't see any media coverage on it apart from here n FB... I believe we should vote wisely for the GREATER CAUSE for Singapore, not just for our own "GRC". Plus we all know that CHANGE is the only CONSTANT. When there is no change, end results will always be the same, no matter how u try! I hope to see the sun shine on us soon...
  22. Was reading the asiaone motoring website's review of the upgraded Kia Cerato Forte and noticed that the price indicated is super high. "Kia Cerato Forte Price: $173,900 / $183,900 (both with COE) Engine: 1,591cc Transmission: 6 -speed manual / 6-speed automatic Max Power: 124 hp @ 6,300 rpm Max Torque: 156 Nm @ 4,200 rpm 0-100kmh: 11.5 secs Top speed: 190 kmh Distributor: Cycle & Carriage Kia" Is it a typo? Or really so expensive for a 1.6L car?
  23. I kana first hand experience yesterday at Queensway junction. There are 3 lanes from turning right. Thus normal if you are on the right lane, you keep to lane 1 when you turn, middle keep to lane 2 and so on. I was on lane 2. A lady driver (middle age 40-50yrs old) driving a Honda CRV on right lane. When she turns, she just happily cut into my lane w/o looking and signally...... I have to swerve and jam brakes, barely have time to even horn her. Whats more fantastic is that she just cuts in to lane 3 after that. I was like WTF.... cutting 3 lanes at one go w/o looking or signally. Almost causing an accident.
  24. who else will know the outcome of your vote!
