  1. hi all, as above. need first-hand comments on maintenance and performance. pm me if too private to share? Thanks all
  2. http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/review.php?AID=46 New clio, but lukewarm interest so far..anyone bought liao?
  3. dcb

    Renault Twizy

Saw at Kallang wave mall Renault's road show.
  4. tried searching but could not find any answers. anyone tried their service, how is the price like? i saw installation changes were $18 per tyre, which means $72 for installation.
  5. Leoeve

    Renault Captur

anyone visit the road show at vivo? i think the car is quite cool and with diesel turbo. what is the cons of diesel car? will maintainence be expensive?
  6. Anyone knows where to get carpet custom cut for the back of a van? Looking for those wool type of carpet like offices and hotels. Not 3M plastic type. I know audio have carpeting material for sub woofers etc. but those are too thin. Looking for those with a thicker pile. Thanks.
  7. Was at Ubi the other day and got some time to kill so decided to test drive the new Renault Clio 1.2 16v. Odometer before I test drive was 647 km so rather new. Motoring (Nov Issue) had a rather good write-out on this car and having test drove the earlier Clio 1.4 16v, approached the car with anticipation. Interior had been made more simple (read: cost cutting measure as usual) but still feels rather cosy. When I pulled the handbrake, my hand brushed against the SE. No, it was not a female SE in case u folks are wondering! Anyway, I still find the gear box rather notchy to my liking. Maybe I am too used to Japanese kind of gear box. The ride and handling is still as good as ever and I really like the reassuring thud when the door is closed. Something my current car is not that impressive. In the review, the article stated that the engine is free revving and quoted Civic VTEC drivers will find it as good since there is no red line. The SE encouraged me to try red-lining which I have every intention to. Indeed the engine feels smooth and did not hesitate until it reached 6500 rpm whereby the rev limiter kicked in. I had fun dragging the first two gears to red line and the SE suddenly stopped giving comments about how good the car is, etc. (Maybe that is one of the techniques one should employ to shut them up) However, after from the third gear onwards, the limitations of the small 1.2 L engine begin to make itself and it would be safe to assume that at highway speeds, overtaking must be planned well in advance. The pros of the car is generally the size and safety features. Really carpark friendly and u feel kindda cosy up in front while the rear is for u to allocate to your not so close buddies and let them feel the disadvantages of being tall. (read: headroom really lacking lah!) It has four airbags and boy am I impressed cuz even in some 2L cars, u only get two airbags. The major downside is the relatively high selling price of $68k. For a 1.2 L, that is rather expensive. Of course, not forgetting the usual maintenance problems which I think is not very fair for me to comment since I do not owned one now or before. I did take a peek into the engine bay and discover a huge radiator fan that I suspect was modified to suit the local climate. disclaimer: This test drive report is based strictly on the person writing and is no way influenced by anyone else. And no commissions for me if u decide to buy the car. Just my two cents worth.
  8. Hi, Just trying our luck here. We are looking for the owner of a Renault Kangoo GR 45T. Please kindly contact 9764 01sevenzero. We just would like to ask the owner if there is any interest to sell this number plate. Thanks.
  9. went to renault commercial showroom at toa payoh lor.8 to check out the kangoos... actualli was there for two reasons... one was to book 20k servicing as it was due.... and 2nd being that our bro fcw75 wanted to get a kangoo so i wanted to check and see whether my previous SF was still there... saw 3 models on display there... 1)1.5 dci70(m) 2)1.5 dci85(m) 3)1.6 (a) checked out the dci70 1st.... noticed somethings were missing.... (in comparison to my dci70 bought a year back...) there was no overhead compartment...to those who noe bout kangoo... it is the compartment above the driver's head so that he can store things .... having it is realli convenient ...but NO this dci 70 did not haf this.... and the part dat made me disappointed was that there is no carpet lining... it seems that they were removed... this most prob would translate to a hotter kangoo...coz i believe that it is the carpet lining which keeps the heat out....but all i saw was bare metal.... there were changes to the faceplate (not sure if that is wat it is called, its the place where speedo and fuel indicator is) but IMHO....it was not as nice as the old one.... and the radio display...is diff from mine....it is the smaller type... HU was not there so i cannot comment on it... gear sticks looks diff as well.... the aircon vents are no more black...they are same colour as the dashboard... next the dci85....85 being the bhp ...with 15bhp more then the dci70.... and being called the newer model of kangoo... this model looked more like my kangoo... the radio display is the dci70 mannufactured a year back... din get a chance to get whether there was carpet lining or not....coz the van was parked outside and it was locked.... faceplate is same as the abovementioned dci70... din check out whether HU was there or not... coz me was rushing to go off.. well...this was actaulli the last ride i checked out and nearly missed as it was parked outside... lastly the 1.6 (i think its 16V)... the petrol version of kangoo with auto gears.... upgraded from the 1.4 version and now having 95bhp(if i remember correctly , coz i am not an auto fan) i shall not comment much on this...as most kangoo buyers would get diesel version.... but one thing i do not understand is why dci70 version is so stripped down... i believe the price is almost the same as last year.... well fcw75..this thread dedicated to you but its open to comments from everyone
  10. Was toying with the idea of purchasing one 2nd hand. For Renault die hards, what are the common issues? Is servicing at Wearnes a bitch and cost an arm and a leg?
  11. Look damn nice , would be a hot seller if the japs had built it......... http://www.carscoops.com/2015/07/the-new-renault-talisman-is-out-and-its.html
  12. Anyone knows which workshop does this service and how much does it cost? The screeching is damn irritating.
  13. Saw the Renault Clio RS. Seems quite good specs except a bit small for the boot as well as the rear leg room. Anyone knows whats the Early bird prices like ?
  14. This car is spaciousness compare to the competition from the same class at (4695 x 2060 x 1445)mm. Peformance wise, a light pressure 2.0L Turbo at 170bhp/5000rpm, 270nm/3250rpm, 0-100 is 9.2 and max speed is 220km/h. Supposedly to be better in everything than its predecessor, comes with 8 airbags too. Also come with Toxcity sensor, automatic hazard sensor and anti-intrusion system. It will be good to have at least 180~190bhp. Anyone driving this car or test driven this guy? Kindly feedback. For Renault car, can you bring your own engine oil and filter? Are servicing, parts and accessories expensive? Thank you very much. Regards,
  15. Hi all, I am thinking of getting a eurovan for daily usage and looking at the below choices.. whats your opinion on the following choices with regards to reliability? on a tight budget so can only consider the following.. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=438473&DL=1288 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=439962&DL=1000 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=438474&DL=1000 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=437395&DL=2717 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=414364&DL=2615 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=431120&DL=2286 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=437271&DL=1019 will really appreciate your input on opinions..
  16. I know one is turbo and the other is NA. One has stop production and other is very new. Which one will you choose for its performance?
  17. Renault is gunning for an under-8-minute lap time on the fabled Nurburgring track with a more extreme version of its Megane RS. Utilising the help of a better suspension setup from Ohlins, better tyres from Michelin and a new exhaust by Akrapovic, we will see this car come alive in 'under 2 months' as stated on Renault's Facebook page. With the pre-facelift Megane RS Trophy already setting a 8:07.97 lap time, we reckon the more extreme Megane will not have much trouble achieving its aim. Sadly, Renault is not the first manufacturer to produce the first hot hatch that can achieve a sub-8-minute lap. SEAT recently went below eight minutes with their Leon Cupra, achieving a 7:58:44 lap time with their 280bhp (probably) version. And with Honda very keen to show that it's Civic Type R will be the fastest hot hatch on the 'Ring also, it seems like we have a fierce battle brewing for the title of the fastest FWD hatch on the Nurburgring! Watch the Megane RS Trophy set a 8:07.97 lap time below. http://dai.ly/x1r7zci_renault-megane-r-s-trophy-sets-a-new-nurburgring-record-on-bridgestone-potenza-full-version_auto
  18. Love your hot hatches? Then you would probably want to watch the new Renault Clio RS 200 EDC being pushed to the limit by professional driver Denis Lian at the Sepang F1 circuit in Malaysia. He clocked a impressive lap time of 2:48:001 which is five seconds adrift of its bigger brother, the Megane RS250. Even though the lap looks pretty undramatic, its usually the boring laps that provides the best lap times. And of course, Sepang is a wide track so things do look milder than it should. What I did observe though are the gear changes, which look fast enough for a dual-clutch. Wonder why some of the overseas reviewers complain of a slow responding EDC gearbox... Hopefully we will get the car here soon to try it out for ourselves! Meanwhile, enjoy the video... http://dai.ly/x1kx2is_renault-clio-rs-200-edc-track-drive-with-denis-lian-part-1-2-track-version_auto
  19. Renault Twizy - S$25,000 for an electric "car"? Renault Twizy is an electric quadricycle that seats two but handles like a buggy. It is currently under debate whether it should come under Cat A or Cat D for COE. If LTA places it under Cat D, we are looking at $25,000 a piece, which is a quarter of a new Japanese made car for a four wheeled all weather personal transportation vehicle. The vehicle is capable of 80kmh, does a full charge in 3 hours and comes with a range of 100km, which is more than adequate for urban usage.
  20. KWID CONCEPT, a concept car unveiled at the Delhi Auto Show, highlights both Renault’s commitment to new markets, such as India, as well as the company’s ability to produce appealing products in the compact car segment. The vehicle’s robust, yet fun design, along with its technology-driven features, is targeted at meeting the needs of young customers in these markets. Beyond the playful and imaginative styling of the KWID CONCEPT, the concept car also comes equipped with a host of technology-driven features, led by its Flying Companion. Aimed at offering a safe and fun driving experience, the Flying Companion is the first of its kind in the automotive world. Taking off from the rotating rear portion of the KWID CONCEPT’s roof, the Flying Companion can be operated in one of two modes – the automatic mode using a pre-programmed flying sequence and GPS location, as well as the manual mode, which enables the companion to be controlled using a tablet inside the vehicle. The Flying Companion can be used for a variety of purposes, including scouting traffic, taking landscape pictures and detecting obstacles on the road ahead. The KWID CONCEPT is also Z.E ready - being pre-disposed to receive batteries for electric use - and comes with a charging plug behind the Renault logo. The KWID CONCEPT is powered by the latest-generation downsized 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to an Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) transmission to combine driving enjoyment with low fuel consumption. Other technology-rich features include an electric operated front bench seat on a centre rail, electric opening doors, LED lighting and a state-of-the-art gear selector located on the dashboard next to the steering wheel. The vertically-mounted TFT touchscreen display acts as the dashboard in the KWID CONCEPT and also provides access to connected services.
  21. Reigning F1 world champion, Sebastian Vettel, won a gripping Japanese Grand Prix to edge closer to his fourth drivers’ title. It might be the usual repeated tale, but this time, the triple world champion, had to put in a minuscule amount of effort to earn the highest spot on the podium on Sunday. At the dance of the chequered flags, Vettel crossed the line ahead of his team mate, a decent 7.13 seconds at the end of the 53 laps. Lotus F1 Team's, Romain Grosjean, filled the last podium slot, securing a podium lock out for Renault in succession. This is the fourth time this season, after Bahrain, Germany and Korea earlier this month, the podium was locked out by Renault power courtesy of Infiniti Red Bull Racing and Lotus Renault. It is the first time in 17 years that Renault has secured two consecutive perfect podiums. With Kimi Raikkonen bringing the second Lotus past the chequered flag in fifth, four of the top five positions were filled by Renault-powered cars – with Alonso’s Ferrari crashing the party. Additionally, Mark Webber’s pole position on Saturday took Renault’s total number of poles in the FIA Formula One World Championship to 209, a new record for the most pole positions held by an engine manufacturer beating Ferrari’s record of 208. "It has been an exceptional two races for Renaultsport F1, with a new record in pole positions set by an engine manufacturer and then another 1-2-3 result today for the second race in succession. We’ll make it our aim in the coming races to maximise the points across all our partners and to finish the season - and the end of the V8 era - on a high. We broke one record this weekend but it would be good to set the bar even higher now!" said Remi Taffin, Renaultsport F1 Head of Track Operations. With four races remaining, Red Bull has dominated the 2013 season after earning 445 points - a massive 148 points ahead of Ferrari and 158 points ahead of Mercedes. In the drivers’ title race, Alonso at 207 points is 90 points away from the young German and the Spaniard has to miraculously win every single race from hereafter to win his third title. With the drivers' championship pretty much sealed, the constructor's championship is lives - for second and third placing that is - between Ferrari, Mercedes and Lotus Renault. Formula One entertainment returns in India, on the 27th of October, where the battle will - without a doubt - reach its climax.
  22. When Sebastian Vettel qualifies at the front, there is nothing that can stop the German from grabbing the top step on the podium. Out of 88 race starts he has with Infiniti Red Bull Racing - from Australia 2009 to Singapore 2013 - he has 22 lights to flag victories and three Grand Chelem titles (currently tied with Nelson Piquet) - meaning he has qualified in pole, won the race after leading every lap of the race and set the fastest lap of the race in the same weekend. Still his record is one more than Juan Manuel Fangio who has five world championships under his belt, but one less than the legendary Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher. Even Fernando Alonso, Niki Lauda and Stirling Moss only have one each and interestingly James Hunt and Kimi Raikkonen have none. As the Singapore Grand Prix concluded - minutes before 10:00pm - with fireworks lighting up the already colourful and vibrant Marina Bay CBD area with stunning backdrop from the Singapore Flyer to Marina Bay Sands and ANZ to Maybank towers and hysterical cheers from the attendees - Vettel recorded his third consecutive win this season, his third consecutive win at the street circuit and his seventh podium overall. The question remains if there is anything that could stop the German driver. Unless Adrian Newey is removed, I doubt so. The problem with F1 right now is not about the lack of overtaking or people getting bored with the same person winning - it's just that rival teams have yet to produce their own Adrian Newey including legendary ones like Scuderia Ferrari and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. McLaren seem to be a little off pace this year while only one of the two Ferraris seem to be interested in any actual racing. Over the past two years, the sport has evolved from who is winning and fighting for the championship to who had the best recovery or who managed to finish third after a strenuous battle. As stated earlier, as soon as Vettel qualifies on the front grid - you can prepare tomorrow's sports headlines today. Even yesterday at the sixth SingTel Singapore Grand Prix, Vettel won the race after qualifying in pole with a record setting time of 1:42.841 - which is even faster than Kimi Raikkonen's lap record. Not even the tropical climate of heat and humidity or the intervention of the safety car - courtesy of Daniel Ricciardo's Toro Rosso - could hinder or delay the triple world champion from claiming another this season. After 61 laps, Vettel won by a staggering 32.6 seconds over title contender, Fernando Alonso in the Prancing Horse, who leaped from seventh at the starting grid while Kimi Raikkonen catapulted to third from starting 13th on the grid
  23. In a recent survey conducted by U.K.'s largest dating website for married people, Illicit Encounters, Audi owners are found to be the most likely candidates in having extramarital affairs. The result was concluded by polling its 750,000 members. To be specific, 22.2 percent of Audi owners claim that they have cheated on their spouses. This is followed by BMW drivers with a score of 13.8 percent. Taking third place is Mercedes-Benz with 8.7 percent. In the survey last year, BMW owners take pole position for being the most adulterous bunch. At the other end of the spectrum, French car owners are found to be the most loyal partners. Only 0.4 percent of Peugeot drivers confessed that they have had an affair followed by Renault drivers with a score of 0.5 percent. "Cars can reveal a lot about their owners. All the cars in the top five represent our members - they are typically successful, motivated, high-achievers who are less likely to settle for something they find unsatisfying, be it a car or a relationship," commented Mike Taylor from Illicit Encounters website. Premium German makes have been dominating Singapore's sales charts for the past few years. If your hubby wants to get a German car, perhaps you may want to try convincing him to get a French car instead to 'safeguard your marriage'.
