  1. Something to compete against the likes of the more establish brand Renault Alpine A110 light weight at 1080 with 1.8 T, seems very Alfa kind of formula
  2. Saw the road show in vivo city, the frugality is amazing...what do you think? i think diesel is the way to go green!
  3. This looks very 3 series. If only it drives like one, it wuld be perfect.
  4. The French outfit has reached the four-figure horsepower mark for its Formula 1 car in qualifying trim. As reported by Auto Motor und Sport, Renault engine head Remi Taffin revealed that his company is able to produce more than 1,000bhp in specific circumstances “There are only certain performance peaks in qualifying,” he said. “We can not always get that performance. It depends on many factors. For example, the distance and the outside temperatures.” Interesting, Renault is keen to announce how much horsepower its 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain can make unlike Mercedes or Ferrari, which aren’t so forthcoming and won’t disclose how much their own engines put out. While it is not clear if the other teams actually have more power than Renault or not, power is not everything as Renault is still lagging behind the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing with its results.
  5. http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/events_features.php?AID=2353 do u think is worth?
  6. It is rumored that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Renault have resumed talks to revive its potential merger. Its merger plan failed a couple of weeks ago and FCA blamed the French government for it. According to Reuters, Nissan wants Renault to significantly reduce its 43.4% stake in return for its support of a $48billion merger between FCA and Renault. In the article, FCA chairman John Elkann and Renault chairman Jean-Dominique Senard have been holding talks about continuing the negotiation, but both companies are refusing to comment on the reports officially. A senior advisor from FCA, Toby Myerson was also spotted at the Nissan headquarters in Japan for discussions with top management and would have likely include Nissan Chief Executive Hiroto Saikawa. Also in the article, it explained that the Nissan head has long believed that its alliance with Renault needed “re-balancing”. This is because Nissan is much larger than Renault but it only holds a 15% stake in the French automaker and no voting rights, while Renault owns 43.4% of Nissan. The French government has since responded, willing to reduce its 15% stake in Renault in an effort to see the merger come to fruition, but only if that would benefit both FCA and the Alliance in general.
  7. The French government has been blamed for the failure of Renault and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles's proposed merger. But it disagrees. It only took 10 days for the merger to fail as Reuters reported that the French government, which has a 15% stake in Renault, took things overboard by demanding a series of guarantees and concessions that were deemed excessive by FCA. A French government official then called FCA's Chairman John Elkann to persuade him to reconsider the offer but was rejected still. According to French finance minister Bruno Le Maire, the government engaged in the negotiations constructively but they weren’t ready to commit without the consensuses of Renault’s partner, Nissan. Meanwhile, Nissan's said that it would be neutral on the merger proposal. The article went on to say that the people in FCA was actually fine with Nissan's stance and put the blame on the French government for the collapse of the deal.
  8. Maybe Renault is sick of Nissan & Japanese gov of "tekkaning" Carlos Ghosn, they are going to shelve their plan to merge with Nissan if Fiat Chrysler is interested to merge with Renault. 9. Looks like the hot Hatch category getting interesting next Year You Have the Renault RS which is zero to 100 in about 5.7 to 6 sec New engine. Not as ricey as the Civic and tamer. Functional Diffuser. 4 Wheel Steering, which may not be everyone's liking. Hopefully, they nail it this time round. Its downsize to 1.8T instead of 2.0 T so I suspect no replacement for displacement means the 150 to 200 kmh range will be slower on the straight. Comes stock at 280 bhp while GTi is 235 bhp. vs Civic 308 bhp. Let see what kind of prices. If the number falls in the 145 to 155 K range, probably have very good takeup rate.
  10. Based on Renault's history, we can probably guess that there will be more hardcore versions of the Megane R.S. even after the Trophy variant. And spotted on the Nuburgring recently by Carscoops, it does really seemed like Renault is working on a new flagship for its hot hatch. Likely to be called the Trophy-R like the previous generation Megane, the new one comes with a a vented bonnet with a big bump in the middle that might mean something. Meanwhile, the red accent on its front bumper is very similar to the old Trophy-R and the car spied on the Green Hell has its LED running lights deleted, presumably to cater for some sort of cooling for the brakes or engine. From the side, we can see new wheels plus larger brakes and a large white tape that probably camouflages its decals. As for the interior, the spy photographers manage to reveal a red steel bar where the rear seats should be, reaffirming the possibility of the prototype being the Megane RS Trophy-R. Being the most track-focused variant, the car will likely be the lightest but unknown whether the car will get more power or any other handling upgrades.
  11. New Renault Clio 2019 unveiled with stunning new interior ahead of official launchhttps://www.express.co.uk/life-style/cars/1079285/New-Renault-Clio-2019-launch-interior-car RENAULT has unveiled the interior of the all-new Clio - Here’s what’s changed in the radical new update.Renault has unveiled the all-new Clio hatchback which has received a number of updates an upgrades. Most notably among the changes is the awesome revamped interior which is a vast improvement compared to previous generations. Immediately the vehicle looks more high-end and premiums due to the new refined interior layout with obvious improvements in the technology, seating, and overall design. At the centre of the dashboard is the Smart Cockpit, the 9.3-inch multimedia screen (twice as large as the 7-inch version) is the biggest ever on a Renault model. It is a vertical screen and is more contemporary than some of the integrated units in its rivals. This central screen comprises the multimedia, navigation and infotainment features. Renault has also apparently used more premium soft-touch materials on the redesigned dashboard which has been reshaped to give the impression of more space and width in the Clio. The centre console is also higher and features a smaller gear lever all of which, in conjunction with the newly redesigned seats is for ergonomics. There is also a myriad of customisation options which allows the vehicle to be specified in a number of different colours to match the exterior. While the interior has been extensively updated the exterior has been left relatively unchanged. It is a minor evolutionary upgrade with tiny alterations to the grille and bumper. The body has been lowered by up to 30 mm for better aerodynamics and extra athleticism and the car can be specified with 17-inch wheels (depending on version). Other added details include the shark fin antenna, the 100 per cent LED lights, the flush tailgate, and the chrome-plated side-window surrounds. Two new exterior body colours are available now which are Valencia Orange and Celadon Blue, which join another eight body colours and three exterior customisation packs. Clio will make its official public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

  14. So I got lucky and managed to win the grand prize for the recent Sonax workshop event held on Renault premises. The top prize was a weekend drive-away with the prize winning Grand Scenic. MCF organisers requested a thread on the weekend drive-away and I was happy to oblige. Just wondering if anyone has questions on this 7 seater model, I may be able to help answer some questions as I explore the ride this weekend. Current ride is a smallish Hyundai i30 wagon, so this is a different category for me, although I did come from a Mazda 5 not too long ago. A more complete review will be attempted, but first up some specs. Renault Grand Scenic Type - MPV 7 seater (midsize MPV) Engine - Diesel 1.5 litre Turbo dCI (Auto) ; Euro 6 BHP - 110; Torque - 260 NM Extras - full size glass roof (standard on Grand Scenic) Seats - full leather, one-touch foldable system via rear and front display panel Wheels - 195/55/20 with 20 inch rims Weight - 1.5 tons Length - 4.6 m; Height - 1.6 m 0 -100 km/h : 13.2 seconds Luggage space - 233/596 (3rd row folded)

  22. Yo bros and sis, I'm planning to change to a conti ride and was crossed between a Renault Megane 1.6(A) or a VW Jetta 1.6(A). Any experience and comments for these cars? I owned a Renault 5 before but that was donkey years back. I should say this car has lotsa problems. Everyweek squat at the workshop waiting for it to be repaired. Has Renault improved over the years? Thanks!
  23. May want to upgrade to a MPV for my next ride and am considering this 4 mid-size conti diesel-powered Cat A MPV which I have viewed them all but couldnt made up my mind. Reason for going Diesel is because I figured out over a distance of 100k km, the saving in pump cost is much greater as compared to the higher road tax which I may have to pay for a diesel-powered 1.6L MPV (making comparison with mid-size petrol powered MPV like Wish/Mazda 5). Furthermore, driving up North is something which i seldom do. Based on personal observation, Touran is the one which i spotted most often on the roads (though they may be the petrol variant and not neccessary the diesel variant) Any views from current owners or anyone who has an opinion? I'm trying to guess which MPV is the best value for money or best bang for bucks over a period of say 8yrs.
