(Photos: Mercedes-Benz, Tony Ng/AsiaOne) The new generation C-Class which has reworked front and rear sections with a more striking design. The Stuttgart automaker has also improved the fuel efficiency of the line, with fuel consumption down by 31 per cent thanks to new engines, a reworked seven-speed auto gearbox and an eco start-stop function that can be found in the incoming CLS350 as well. Among the new upgrades are ten driving assistance systems such as attention assist (to remind drivers who are too tired to drive) and new-generation telematics with internet access. Six variants will be available, ranging from the 1.6-litre C180 Kompressor (156bhp, 230Nm of torque) to the top-of-the-line 3.5-litre C350 BlueEfficiency (306bhp, 370Nm of torque). A C200 CGI BlueEfficiency will come in estate form.
  2. After months of speculation, Ferrari has officially unveiled the new Four concept ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Essentially a preview of the 612 Scaglietti replacement, the FF features a bold Pininfarina design that mixes elements from the 458 Italia, California, and 599 GTB Fiorano. Most notably, the car is a shooting brake which affords 450 liters (15.9 cubic feet) of cargo capacity with the rear seats up and 800 liters (28.3 cubic feet) with the rear seats down. Underpinned by an all-new chassis, the Four has an independent suspension with magnetically adjustable dampers and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. More importantly, the car is equipped, for the first time ever in a Ferrari, with an advanced Ruote Motrici (4RM) four-wheel drive system that is heavily rear-biased and "delivers record levels of performance on all terrains and in all conditions via continuous and intelligent predictive torque distribution to all four wheels." Under the hood, power is provided by a 6.3-liter (6,262 cc) V12 engine with 660 PS (485 kW / 651 hp) and 683 Nm (504 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a double-clutch transmission which enables the 1790 kg (3946 lb) concept to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed 335 km/h (208 mph). Furthermore, the FF has a combined fuel consumption of 15.4 L/100 km (15.3 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 360 g/km. Source: Ferrari
  3. 'Singapore's Edison Chen' slapped with 21 charges HE WAS dubbed Singapore's Edison Chen after he posted self-made videos of his sexual encounters with several women on the Internet. How to stop hair fall? The man called himself Gary Ng and shared up to 33 sex videos online since September 2008. But as it turned out, it was a fictitious name. His real name is Chen Guilin. And now, Chen, 28, who is unemployed, is in trouble with the law. He has been slapped with 21 charges, including one charge of possessing 1,100 obscene pictures and 437 video clips containing pornographic material on a laptop and two portable hard drives. He was first charged in June and turned up in court on Wednesday to face more charges. In all, Chen faces four counts of housebreaking, five counts of forgery, six counts of possessing someone else's identity card and two counts of criminal breach of trust. He also faces one charge each of cheating, misappropriation and possessing a fraudulently obtained or stolen laptop. Chen allegedly broke into the home of one of his victims between Aug 31 and Sept 5, 2008, and stole items totalling more than $36,000. One of the items he allegedly stole was the victim's OCBC bank cheque book. Over six days in September that year, he is said to have forged the victim's signature on the stolen cheques and induced the bank to give him a total of $81,150. Forged signature He is also accused of breaking into the home of another victim twice and later forging the victim's signature on a stolen HSBC cheque to obtain $10,000. Chen, who is out on bail, is understood to have been arrested after several victims made police reports. The New Paper reported last year that someone calling himself "Gary Ng" gained online notoriety after he posted his self-filmed sex videos on various amateur porn sites and sex forums. Most of the videos began with him in office wear before he undressed. He was careful to protect the identities of his partners by editing away the faces of the girls and himself, but he gave the videos titles based on the the women in them. There were videos titled "Gary Ng vs Beer Promo Auntie", "Gary Ng vs Friend's Niece" and "Gary Ng vs Chua Chu Kang girl". He claimed that he filmed his escapades, which took place at home or in hotels, and put them online in order to get back at women. He said that he became disillusioned after three consecutive failed relationships. Among his charges, unlawfully possessing someone else's identity card and housebreaking carry the heaviest punishment. If convicted, he can be fined and jailed 10 years on each charge.

  5. Hyundai has unveiled the 2011 Verna (aka Accent) at the Beijing Motor Show. Looking like a miniature Sonata, the Verna features sweptback headlights, a bold grille, and rearview mirrors with integrated LED turn signals. Inside, the cabin boasts higher quality materials and an improved design. Power comes from two new Gamma petrol engines with multiport fuel injection. The base 1.4-liter produces 79 kW (106 hp / 107 PS) and 135 Nm (100 lb-ft) of torque. When equipped with a five-speed manual, the Verna consumes 5.7 liters/100km (41.2 mpg US). If you choose the four-speed automatic and the Fuel Economy Package, the Verna consumes 6.2 liters/100km (37.9 mpg US). If that doesn't float your boat, Hyundai also offers a 1.6-liter with 90 kW (121 hp / 122 PS) and 155 Nm (114 lb-ft) of torque. It will be available exclusively with a four-speed automatic. The car rides on an all-new platform with a 2570mm wheelbase - the biggest in its class. It uses an increased amount of ultra-high tensile strength steel, so we can expect improved handling and better NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) levels. According to Euisun Chung, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor, "Today is a really special day for us, not only because we're launching a new car, but because it's one of the very few times we've done a world-premiere outside of Korea: And we chose to do it right here in China because it's our way of recognizing how important our Chinese customers are to us." Chinese production kicks off in July, while global production occurs shortly thereafter.
  6. BMW is showing off their latest design study, the BMW Concept Gran Coupe, at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition in China. The show will be open to the public through May 2. At 1.4-meters high, the car is 10-cm shorter in height than the 5er and 7er sedan. Current rumors suggest that the car is already approved for production and will be marketed as the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe to rival the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, a car which BMW does not directly compete against at this time. Here, the car's "vaulted bonnet" blends well with the wide kidney-shaped grille. The rounded rhombus-shaped headlights sit well above the bumper and create a sporty styling element. This is accentuated by the split bumper with large air intakes with black mesh grille. In back, the nearly five-meter long car has more conservative styling, with a somewhat short and squared bumper. The car has a wide LED third brake light mounted above the glass, which matches the LED rear light clusters. Quad tailpipes are set into the bumper as well. The German automaker's latest concept is meant as an ideological follow-up to the Concept CS 2007, with BMW using the Gran Coupe to set the tone for the future of four-door coupes. It has a longer wheelbase, which may be why it was debuted in China, and features design lines meant to draw your eyes to the front. If the car does get the green light, look for it to maintain certain characteristics. Specifically, the frameless windows and sporty styling at the front could very well make the cut, and show up on a production model. Also rumored is a shooting brake variant which is currently being evaluated. Look for the BMW Concept Gran Coupe to make its European debut in Paris this October.
  7. Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the E 300 L - a long wheelbase E-Class sedan - at the Auto China 2010 show. The E 300 L is the first model by the Stuttgart-based premium brand to be developed specifically for the Chinese market. It features 14 cm more leg room for the rear passengers and a wheelbase of 3.014 m - with the overall length of the E 300 L measuring 5.008 m. The extended wheelbase variant will also come as an E 260 CGI model. The new model is part of a growing trend in the Chinese market for extended wheelbase variants of premium brand vehicles. And the market is a very important one for Mercedes with its sales having grown 112 percent in the first quarter of this year. The E 300 L will be manufactured locally by Beijing Benz Automotive Corporation - a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Company (BAIC). The Beijing International auto show run from April 25 to May 2.

  14. The variable valve-timing obsessives at the Temple of VTEC have scored a leaked brochure of the 2011 Honda CR-Z, and in addition to getting a glimpse of the production version of the hybrid hatch, some specs and trim details were included in the document. We finally have hard figures on the 1.5-liter engine's output (in JDM spec), with the diminutive four-cylinder putting out 112 horsepower (at 6,000 rpm) on its own and another 14 hp from its electric motor. Just as importantly, the engine creates 107 lb-ft of torque (at 4,800 rpm) with the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system boosting that by another 57 lb-ft at an oh-so-low 1,000 rpm. Coupled with either a six-speed manual or CVT gearbox, the CR-Z nets a relatively uninspiring 0 to 62 mph time of 9.7 seconds. The dimensions haven't changed much from the "concept" we saw at the Tokyo Motor Show earlier this year, with a 160.6-inch overall length, 68.5-inch width, 54.9-inch height and a wheelbase that spans 95.9 inches. Unfortunately, no word on curb weight. Since efficiency is the name of the game, the CR-Z will benefit from LED daytime running lights and turn signal indicators in the mirrors, along with three driving modes
  15. Michael Schumacher was unmasked as the BBC car programme Top Gear's mysterious 'The Stig' on Sunday night. The enigmatic white-overalled, gloved and helmeted figure, who for years has anonymously tested cars for the TV show, appeared on the floor of the British programme after breaking its test-track record at the wheel of the Ferrari FSX supercar. Asked by host Jeremy Clarkson to take off his helmet, The Stig reluctantly obliged, revealing F1's now 40-year-old seven time world champion Schumacher. Clarkson jokingly asked the famous German what his name was before he became famous as The Stig, but Schumacher answered: "You have to have some secrets". However, the true identity of The Stig was unmasked by the press earlier this year as 33-year-old Ben Collins, although the speculation was not confirmed by the BBC and it remains rumoured that the character is actually played by multiple drivers. A spokesman for the British broadcaster, meanwhile, confirmed that Schumacher was The Stig for the Ferrari segment, but that otherwise the truth would remain "a mystery". source: http://www.motorsport.com/news/article.asp...33676&FS=F1 Source:

  20. On sale in the spring of 2008, the 1 Series Coupe will be available in two versions; the 128i and the 135i. Powered by a 3.0-liter, 230 horsepower inline 6-cyinder engine that generates 200 lb-ft of torque, the 128i Coupe will feature Valvetronic valvetrain management and aluminum/magnesium contruction
  21. A cheaper option( I guess) for those who to race the BMW M, MERC AMG and AUDI RS =========================================================================== Lexus today unveiled the IS-F luxury sedan at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The all-new 2008 IS-F will target the BMW M3 and Audi RS4, delivering more than 400 horsepower and 350 ft.-lbs. of torque from a 5.0-liter V8 engine. It will eventually be offered as a two-door coupe, as well. Much of the development of the new IS-F took place at Fuji Speedway and the Higashi-Fuji Technical Center in Japan. The IS-F is based on the rear-wheel-drive Lexus IS, which is equipped with a double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension. The IS-F engine is mated to the world
