Hi, Anyone has first hand review of Kumho KU36? I am thinking of getting KU36 in my next change. Heard from a particular shop that quite a few sets of KU36 had been sold. KU36 has been in the market for almost 6mths now, just wondering if anyone has tried this tyre and would like to find out how well it holds on wet road. Cheers Orac

My last experience with a Toyota was in the likes of a Celica SS1 from 2001-2003. Thus far, I had pleasant experiences with Toyota and relished owning one again. The draw to powerful marques came on for a high testorone male in me and at that time, the Toyota Caldina GT4 was born. A quick check with Ricardo motors then came up with an incredulous price tag of S$150K+. Lest not forget, COE was high then. Therefore, the idea of owning one was quickly relegated and the GT4 soon became a dream rather than a reality. I moved on quickly and owned a Subaru Legacy RSK Turbo B4 Manual and an EVO 8 GSR there after. With the times, my situation changed. Got married, have a kid, the EVO 8 just cannot meet my needs anymore. By needs, I am refering to space. With a large pram, car seats and what nots, the EVO was insufficient for my needs. With the low COE, I decided to once again approach two PIs to quote me on the face lifted GT4 once again. Finally, I decided to purchase it from Garage R. It being the one and only Turbo variant to be brought into SG, it underwent VIA Japan's testing before embarking on a journey to SG. Upon arrival, I looked at the dark pimp daddy rear windows and thought it will not clear LTA's inspection. Much to my surprise, it cleared and my glasses are 'legit'! That left me wondering why the PIs had to change the glass on the NA versions. Anyway, if you are a family man, who only need space for 1-2 Kid and space for barang barang, if you opt out of the mundane 7 seaters, this car may be your choice. The car is a Wagon styled vehicle, which meant it does not have high body height ala traditional MPVs. However, length wise, it is as long as a Wish, having parked beside it on several occasions and did a comparo. The legroom for both driver and passenger is good. I can vouch for it as I am at least 1.8m tall. Headroom is not fantastic but it is ok. The car came standard with Recaros for both front passenger and driver. Alas, it isnt the kinda bucket Recaros one would find in the Euro R or EVOs. Remember... it is a family oriented car afterall! Specification of the engine is as follow: It is 4WD Engine Capacity: 1998 cc 3S-GTE Transmission: 4 Speed Auto/Steptronic with Super ECT Max Speed 191kW(260ps)/6200rpm Max Torque 324N.m(33.0kg.m)/4400rpm Electronic Brake Assist EBD Traction Control Colors : Super White (040)/Silver Metallic (1F7)/Black MICA (209)/Super Red (3P0)/Blue MICA Metallic (8Q1)/White Pearl Crystal Shine (070) The engine is peppy and it really goes when you flow the accelerator living up to my expectation in terms of power. The transmission has pretty good Final Drive given that @120-130 kmh, the tachometer shows only 2.5-3K RPM! One Caldina owner even displayed a pic of him hitting 180 kmh and tacho was only 4K RPM (see picture). Given that I am still running in the engine, I did not really boost up. Have been told that the CT20B Turbo the car is running is large and has a max boost of 1.3 bar. The car came with standard GT4 trims. It has a full bodykit, stabilzer bars and front strut bar. It also came in 17 inches alloys. The choice of PI for me is obvious given that I am into modification of my ride. I would purchase stuff from GR and let them fix it and yet still preserve my warranty. The workshop has done many GT4s from Malaysia and parts is not a problem but some may see it as a downside. Also, with such power, do not expect frugal and typical Toyota fuel consumption. Currently, I am running 10 km/ltr. To me, that i sgood enough having driven cars that are about 5-7 km/ltr :) If you are more than 2m tall or have grandparents, maid and kids in toll, you are better off with a 7 seater vehicle. Else, this 5 seater wagon will fit you perfectly. Last but not least, the over zealous ROV officers have given me hell for my past rides and a family oriented fast wagon is so much a magnet for them. What a relieve! All in all, a great car for a family man with a need for speed.

Ever boarded a plane to fly off and be confronted with a metal chair and a missing seat cushion? I admit this has never happened to me until our recent experience on Turkish Airlines. We were flying from Singapore to Istanbul and onward to Copenhagen. This was on the Istanbul to Copenhagen leg. We had to take an airport bus to board the plane. It was a nice and sunny morning. We got on board, walked to our seats, and were confronted with a dirty detached seat cushion on a metal seat. Not a great way to start a flight, I reckon. I first alerted a male cabin crew, who didn't seem too surprised. But he disappeared. Really! Then I alerted a female cabin crew, who said she will help sort this out. True enough, she came back within a few minutes with a new cushion and fitted it. Well done! Here is a short video clip of the dirty cushion experience. To be fair, the rest of the flight and also the earlier leg was pretty good. We were on a holiday and headed to Copenhagen. Originally we planned to book SQ for the 4 of us, but the option of Turkish Airlines came along and we could save almost $2K for the 4 of us. So we decided to give Turkish a try. Here are the videos of our experience. At Changi Airport, when we checked in, I was informed by the check-in staff that I could use the SATS Premier Lounge (even though I was flying in Economy) because I was Star Alliance Gold status. Well, I recently turned Star Gold and I don't even have my card yet, so I wasn't expecting this. Anyway, it was great, though I could only bring one guest. At the lounge entrance, I asked nicely if I could bring both my kids and the reception staff kindly agreed. My wife stayed outside though, she went shopping. Later on, I found out that SATS Premier Lounges were also Priority Pass lounges, so we could have used the lounge, albeit for a fee. Here is the video of the lounge, which is used by a good number of airlines. I guess this is called a contract lounge. They had a decent hot food selection, not as good as the SilverKris, but good enough for most. There was the signature laksa, which tasted good. Also they had 3 OSIM massage chairs at one corner. We flew to Hong Kong and back recently on Tiger Airways, budget carrier owned by Singapore Airlines. Based in Singapore, TigerAir operates a fleet of 25 aircraft (Airbus A320) to almost 40 destinations. This is the first time we are flying with Tigerair. Overall, the flight for 4 pax (2 adults and 2 kids) cost us SGD $530 in total including taxes, return. This is about USD 375 or US93.75 per person. The flight from SIN to HKG takes almost 4 hours and the return leg about 3.5 hours. Our departure was early morning, 0605hrs. In this video, I show you snippets of Singapore Changi Airport that morning. Changi Airport is a beautiful airport. Very proud of Changi. They take a lot of effort to make it beautiful. Changi Terminal 2, early morning. In the line to board the plane. This video shows you the flight itself. Pretty smooth. We ate breakfast before boarding the aircraft, so we did not purchase any food while on board. The flight would be quite long, almost 4 hours. So what we did was to bring pieces of bread for discreet consumption. Tigerair's policy is that they do not allow outside food but they don't really enforce. That said, I don't think we should abuse this by bringing onboard a lot of food (especially if they smell!). So we bought pieces of bread from Baker Talent and our own water. We consumed the bread shortly after take-off and after that we went to sleep. Most pax also slept since it was an early flight, 0605 hrs departure. We got up just before 4am and took a taxi to the airport. At my seat. Aisle seat towards the front of the plane. Legroom was decent for a Budget Airline. I could put my bagpack underneath in front of me and yet have enough space to stretch out my legs. Waiting for more passengers to board. Cockpit door not yet closed. I could see the pilots making preparations for the flight. This video shows you some footage post arrival at HK International. We were at a satellite terminal and we had to take an airport bus to the main terminal. It was a very bright and sunny day. From the aerobridge, here is a cool picture of the Tigerair Airbus A320 that flew us to HK this morning. Good flight! This was taken from the airport bus. Tigerair uses the satellite terminal. So we have to be bussed to the main terminal for immigration and customs clearance. Check out my video for the bus ride and walk.

To PM Lee or the person assigned to read on behalf of PM, You have taken a bold step to revamp your cabinet. And Singaporeans are being assured that you do listen to our problems. We also hope that you are able to relook into the salaries of the cabinet. Singaporeans feel unjustified towards the amounts of salaries that are being paid and the performance. Having a realistic salary range will keep checks and balances on the real motivations of ministers and potential MPs wanting to serve the people of Singapore, as a Public Servant. Thank you.
