  2. This video is useful for people who like modifying their cars with the most ridiculous mods. It's is also useful for WRX and EVO wannabes who prefer not to upgrade their drum brakes but decide to make their average impreza TS or lancer look like a WRX or an EVO.

    Rice Dumpling

I think the price of rice dumpling in Singapore is simply rediculous and they are not very nice...Anyone have try out any good rice dumpling in our neighbouring land? Probably within 150km from Causeway...Anything further will be too far...
  4. Hi all, What do you think is consider as a good subsitute for rice if consume on a daily basis? Too much rice is no good but being Asian, I'm wondering what are the options we can have here? Please comment and Thank you very much. Regards,
  5. Eliza Lee, 22, is not only a fresh graduate who studied at a top secondary school, she is also from a wealthy family and used to be chauffeured home from school. Despite her background, she chose to marry a chicken rice seller. According to an article in the New Paper, Miss Lee is the daughter of parents who own a bag-manufacturing business and has a bachelor's degree in hospitality management from the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS). She is engaged to 32-year-old Michael Poh, who owns a chicken rice stall. Despite her pampered background, Miss Lee has been helping out at her fiance's stall for 10 to 15 hours everyday, 7 days a week. Before she started helping out at the stall, says her fiance, Miss Lee had 'not touched a drop of detergent'. The prospect of being a hawker's wife has never bothered her, says Miss Lee. Miss Lee's mindset is rare among Singaporean women her age. Most university graduates would not consider marrying a blue-collar worker. Mr Poh affirmed this by saying he has experienced his fair share of snobbery from ex-girlfriends, and says that women like his fiance are rare. And why did Miss Lee choose to be with Mr Poh? She says they 'click' and that they have endless conversations. They also share a common goal of building a comfortable life together. Mr Poh, who has a diploma is sociology, says: "To find another one like Eliza, who would go through thick and thin with me, is mission impossible." In a poll conducted by the New Paper, 100 percent of 50 female undergraduates aged 21 to 28 said they would not date a blue-collar worker.
  6. After so many years, I managed to taste I feel in my opinion the best roasted duck drumstick rice at Block 37 coffeshop Jalan Rumah Tinggi. At first am wondering why there were not many people since it was so tasty? Later realised because they were previously very successful in another coffeshop but after re-located, probably people do not know where they have gone to... yummyy
  7. When I was in my U days, I used to patronized this Chicken rice stall in Far East Plaza 5th floor. The one with all the MU posters all over the shop. And they serve kai lan with oyster sauce. I went last week, this shop no longer there....anyone knows where they shift to? They use to have full house of students!!
  8. This dumbo already ate it once and found it tasted ordinary. Yet he went back to get chop carrot head a second time. When STOMPer chickwn rice dined at a hotel restaurant recently, he was shocked when the bill came to $35 for a plate of chicken rice and a drink. They told him the price was due to 'overwhelming response', said the STOMPer. The STOMPer elaborates (Sep 16): "What a rip off. "$35 dollars for a plate of chicken rice? Too expensive? Plus an iced lemon tea? God... "I ate this at Chatterbox, Mandarin Hotel recently. "It cost me $35, GST included. "In June, I also had it, and it cost me $17.50. "According to the restaurant, the price increase was due to the overwhelming response and demand for the chicken rice. "In November last year when I had it, it was also below $20. "It tasted like ordinary chicken rice. "Unfortunately I did not take a picture of the receipt."
  9. Was at Toa Payoh Lorong 7 Blk 22 for lunch. Found this economic rice stall selling two meat two vege combo for $2.20 One fish oso considered one meat..... Fish quite big leh. Very old stall, must be around long long time...... Rental must be cheap....... Cannot find this elsewhere.....
  10. For me, it's really good. Especially the rice which is not oily at all. Very clean environment including the toilets. Apparently Mei Chin Market really not patronised by many.
  11. i mean not just a bit and mix with sashimi. but the whole bowl is covered with salmon roe type.
  12. Where can find mixed-vege rice at ungodly hours ?
  13. i wonder has anyone of you being mislead of the price of chicken rice when you order from hawker or coffeeshop? example i had an incident once long ago. i saw the signboard that the chicken rice was $3.00 so i placed an order for a plate of chicken rice. the order taker asked me is it for one person(yi ge ren chi shi ma?) in mandarin? ofcourse i answered yes because iam ordering it for myself only. then when she served me the chicken rice,it cost me $4.00 and i asked why isn't it $3.00? and she said because for (yi ge ren chi) the chicken is seperate from rice thus higher price and she added that more chicken is added compare to the $3.00.so from then onwards,i learnt my lesson. i thought i had learn from my previous experience. then it happened again yesterday at sims drive hawker. the signboard state a chicken rice cost $2.50. so i decided to have roast chicken rice for my lunch. so i placed order to a lady who seem to be a vietnamese. me:"shao ji fan yi pan" roast chicken rice 1 plate. lady:"ok ni zhuo xia lai, deng xia wo na gei ni" ok you take a seat, later i send it to you. when she sent me the rice(chicken and rice seperate),she told me it is $3.50. i asked her why so expensive, she said the chicken is $3.00 and the rice is $0.50. i can't be bother to argue further and just swallow her words for it. i was thinking i can have a plate of chicken rice at orchard foodcourt for the same amount,or worst some neighbourhood aircon foodcourt for only $3.00. so what do you guys think of such ways to do business? for me,its definitely no return.

  23. Source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../346878/1/.html By Chio Su-Mei, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 10 May 2008 2131 hrs SINGAPORE: Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said the price of rice could increase in the immediate future because of Cyclone Nargis. However, he assured Singaporeans that the government is monitoring the situation. Mr Tharman said: "The unfortunate destruction of rice fields in Myanmar means that in the short-term, of course the rice price will go up even further. Hopefully it will stabilise and come down towards the end of the year. But we'll have to watch this carefully. No one knows for sure what will happen to global food prices - rice as well as other foods." Mr Tharman was speaking to reporters after launching celebrations to mark Vesak Day, at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza on Saturday. He urged Singaporeans to maintain a peaceful, multi-racial and multi-religious society. This event is organised by the Singapore Buddhist Federation and includes an exhibition on Buddhism and a vegetarian food fair. Celebrations will take place on 10 and 11 May and is open to public. - CNA/vm
