  1. Driving a 2006 FL Toyota Vios Auto. It started this week, my ride seems to have more vibration than ever, usually felt when above 80km/h, and when I depressed the accelerator more. Did Wheel Alignment, all wheel balanced. Did all 3 piece Engine Mounting replacement last month. Vibration not very noticeable/significant to my front passenger, but to me. Can be felt from the steering wheel and my chair. What could be the cause?
  2. I am driving Latio, spring changed to NF 210 lowered spring, absorber original. Previously wanted to go low for more stable, however currently need to ferry elderly and children so priority is comfort. So which option is better? 1 Change the spring back to stock, absorber remain 2 Change the absorber to fit the NF210, not sure if this opt will get a comfortable ride 3 Change a full set of spring and absorber, any recommendation for a comfort set? Or is there any other better chioices?

    Transformer ride

is this what it is supposed to be like ?? watch movie clips while taking a roller coaster ride ?
  4. What you are driving now, how did you choose it? (Assuming your choices are within budget) Did you choose it based on the priority below (starting from most important to least impt): 1. Your own preference eg 60% 2. Bf/wife's comments 25% 3. Frens' advice 10% 4. Pressure (eg to match your 'status', or to match your frens' ride, or to make sure others 'respect' you becoz of what you drive) 5% You can put in your or % and reposition the above from highest to lowest % Is you ideal method of choosing a car same as what happened to your choice of current ride? Mine is: 1. Own preference 40% 2. Wife's preference 40% (coz she uses the car as much as i do) 3. Frens advice 20% (on technical stuff) 4. Pressure 0%
  5. The word "surveillance" gives folks the impression that it is being watched which may not be Anyway, our MCFer bro Adrian's experience has already clearly shown sometimes even with all the evidence including video footage of the perpertrator in action given, sadly nothing will be done except a warning letter issued... From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Online...ory_733601.html Motorists taken for a ride on carpark security? Published on Nov 14, 2011 WHEN my car was vandalised at a multi-storey carpark, after the culprit tried to open it with a crowbar, I noticed that a sign at the carpark stated that it was under surveillance, so I assumed it was monitored by closed-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras. When I checked with the HDB, I was told that it was not under its jurisdiction and directed me to the town council. When I telephoned the Tanjong Pagar Town Council, I was told that the carpark, in Block 10 Holland Drive, did not, in fact, have CCTV camera surveillance. Whichever authority is in charge of the carpark should not have given motorists a false sense of security. Elisabeth Raman Verlinde (Mrs)
  6. Last week when I was driving back from Bukit Indah. Saw a man standing at the road side waving with his Singapore Passport. I think he wanted to catch a ride back to Singapore... But i did not dare to fetch him... So what is your take on this ?? will u let the person hitch a ride ???
  7. Thought of finding out what are the highest speed one had actually driven for information purposes and comparision. Rather than depending on the specs, think it is more real/interesting to hear from members what top speed they have done so far. Skoda Fabia (car) 178 km/hr (Speed) N-S highway (where) 7-10-03 (when) --------------------------

  9. Is it possible to buy a season parking disc for a location that you do not live. The SPT of One North is making a killing! It is a whopping 90 bucks a month and I don't even live there. I have considered Transitlink's Park and Ride scheme. Was thinking of parking at the designated Ghim Moh carpark and taking the free shuttle bus to One North. I'm just wondering if it is possible to just buy the SPT of P&R which costs only 30 bucks. I don't want the EZLink card which is of no use to me at $40 and it lasts only a month and deducts adult fare. Furthermore, you it cannot be revalued. Another way is to give my wife the P&R EZLink card while I use the P&R SPT . P&R is also damn leychey. Read what I found at Transitlink's website:
  10. Hi, anyone can advise me, wat is the function of red arrow area? I was trying to tidy up my car, n i found damn lots of dried leaves in that area. Didnt managed to "dig" out all, but only most of the bigger leaves So i would like to know wat is the function of that area, and how will so much dry leaves affect my ride Also, i realise, my undercarriage(front), something unusal as shown below: comparing the drop-down (circle) and the flush-in (arrow), can anyone tells me wat is it? and will it affect my ride?

  13. Hi bros, I renewed my car insurance last yr Oct 30%NCD. Getting my new ride next week or so... Although I can transfer my 30% to my new ride, I can only get 40% NCD next yr May? So technically I will lose my 7mths of prorate 30%NCD? Any work around? I read on a thread that I should buy new ride insurance 0 NCD and continue service my old 30% NCD insurance. Then once my old insurance get 40%NCD, new insurance will refund the excess amount and warrant me with 40% NCD... Any old birds here can advice? SE told me even I drive 11mths 29days also will forfeit my prorate NCD.... My current insurance is almost 50% of my new ride insurance amount......... so... I dun mind continue to service the amount if I can get refund back later n get my 40% NCD in Oct...
  14. Is your current ride your Soul Ride??.... or your previous ride? Sometimes it's not the car's performance or look but the fact that it follows you thru good and hard time that makes it yours Most (i think in fact all) of my rides present or past have a place in my life....
  15. PIE was really smooth this week. aint school holidays over? Or am I missing out something?
  16. Hello all, Usually, when we visit showroom, the agent will call their contacts on the "market" value of your ride IF you intend to trade it in for the new one. I wonder how they reach the "magical" figure? Is it: - paper value + body if export or scrap
  17. How do you rank your priority when you choose your present ride... or the next one? What do you really want in your car? For me, the priority changes depending on the needs of me and my family for the next few years I have to live the the car after the purchase, current car is as follows, not sure about the next car yet: 1. Above average power / handling (TC/SC will be added advantage) 2. Looks and function (flexible loading capacity like MPV/SUV/Stationwagon type) 3. Reliable (to the extent it's trackable) and good resale potential Not that important: 1. Space 2. Image Are yours different?
  18. Hi to all the bros, sis and dude here. My ride, KIA Carens Elite 2.0 A facelift in 2009(normal plate) and I bought it at $54-$57K(if I can recall correctly), thought of downsizing to an used Honda Jazz/Fit 07-08. The main reason being the vehicle has been under ultilised as Mon-Fri is only used by me and the rest of the 6 seats are collecting dust. I have only family of four including two young sons. I had did some homework. I had an offer of my car at $53K from a friend dealer and he has a 2006 Jazz going for $38K.....is was reasonable at market price after some browsing at SGcarmart and ------.com...... So to trouble the bros here, any good and trustworthy dealer or friends selling their Jazz/Fit, please let me know and you can choose to PM me. On top of that, what do you think of the offer that were mentioned above? One note, I am definitely not going for new car with the soar COE. My budget for my next ride is $40-$45. Thanks bro..........
  19. Hi all, It looks like time to hunt for a new ride. Now not earning income so don't want to spend too much on car. Below is my wish list, please feel free to give constructive recommendation. Brand Not very important but generally a reliable made, whether Conti or Jap. Engine N.A or TC, doesn't matter. Able to withstand long journey (NSHW) reliably Engine capacity 1,600 cc prefered. Presumably more economical to run Most of the time I'm doing solo in the car so big size/cc is not important to me Typical Engine type of 4-cylinders in-line will do Prefer higher torque relative to mean bhp of the same class Performance Acceleration not more than 11s (0-100kmh) Hoping for Fuel consumption of around 13km\L Gear Box Minimum Transmission 5-speed preferred AT prefered than CVT FWD will do Must be Auto gearbox Dimension Sedan preferred Can sit 4 full size adults comfortably will do Good leg room Prefer decent boot size Longer Wheelbase in relative to overall dimensions Short turning radius Not more than 1.3 ton in Kerb weight preferred High Fuel tank capacity in relative to size. At least 50L preferred Brakes Brakes (Front) Ventilated disc Brakes (Rear) Disc Suspension MacPherson type with rectangular lower arm and anti-roll bar preferred JB a lot of pop holes so the suspension strength should be decent Safety features Minimum 2 airbags ABS is default Traction control is preferred Driver's features Trip Computer preferred Audio Controls on steering wheel Push start engine button preferred though not important Electrical retractable side mirrors Paddle shifters and Cruise control preferred though not very important Should have +/- for shifting by gear stick though Security features Immobiliser Remote boot release preferred in sedan Rear fog light preferred though not important Exterior features Decent look that can at least last for 3 years (Ok, I know look is subjective) HID headlights Front fog lamps Reverse sensors Side mirror signal indicators Sunroof / moonroof / skyroof is good to have though not essential protector stripe on car body preferred Interior features Auto climate control aircon preferred Rear aircon preferred Audio Aux/USB/i-pod Port preferred Driver's electric seat preferred though not important Knockdown rear seats preferred (40/60) Leather seats as default Warranty and Servicing 3 years or 100K Preferably can find servicing agent in JB since I spend most of my time here Can bring own engine oil and filter for servicing preferred Others Potential for light mode such as availability of strut bars and add-on Anti-roll bars Budget Purposely put to the last Budget less than $100K (Value for money) Please feel free to recommend. Probably will shortlist around 5 models then go for test drive. Thank you very much . Regards,
  20. Just curious how many of you dare to ride on this Giant Roller Coaster? I am the 1st one to surrender. I see it at the ground level, my balls already shrink. Certainly not for the faint hearted.

  24. Hi bros/sis, Just want to ask if there are things to take note of to increase ride comfort. Am driving a Jazz 1.3 with 16 inch factory rims. Currently, I have am at a tyre pressure of front 220 and back 210. On bumpy roads, I can feel quite a rough ride. What I don't like is near traffic lights when roads are rough, thats where when slowing down towards a stop, the car will shake from left right left right making it very uncomfortable. What advise do bros/sis have for me, please do let me know. Thanks (I am not worried about FC, more concern over maximum ride comfort)
