  1. Hey all. On 18th November is Run For Hope, a charity fun run to raise funds for Cancer Research. There's a variety of distances - I'm going to be doing the 10km. Registration is $40. Let's get together some MCFers and do it as a group! Have fun, run for a reason and then we can all compare times afterwards. So who's in?
  2. Hi all, I am sure everyone noticed that there are A LOT MORE cars with DIY LED clusters on their cars now. Some just white LED, some multi colour etc.. Are these road legal? Some really went all the way and 'chng' till the car machiam like Chingay Procession Car, with the front grille, under carriage, door handles, rear number plates, boot lid etc all lined with LEDs. Doesn't the roving TP has anything to say about these cars? It was like previously when people like to put 2 lights on the window washer fluid dispenser. That is fully stated on LTA website that it is not allowed as it causes 'confusion' to other vehicles. So these LEDs now.. lagi worse right? (I must say some of the cars are done up really horribly.. the white LED are not evenly lit, the alignment is crooked etc...what are they thinking huh... )
  3. Hi my wife's Compaq laptop running very hot when not sitting on cooler pad. Suspect the processor fan may be choked with dust, any one tired opening your lap top to clean? Or need to pay $$ to get the innards cleaned? To send back to HP or SLS shop? Recommendations?
  4. Just now I was smoking downstairs, saw a bunch of monkey kids, after loitering at neighbouring void decks. After they are done w messing the place up, they walked away and 2 of them proceed to run and jump up a car and run across it.. they ran, jumped up onto a car boot and up the ceiling, then down the bonnet.. I see Liao cannot take it, went up and shouted at them to stop messing with other people's car. One teen even stopped n say "what?" I so angry ask them to duck off and stop messing other cars.. bloody hell if we are not seperated by a fence, I think I will run up and slap their face... Maybe they will wack me instead since they are 6 of them..haha The car they messed is a jaguar.. pity the owner...maybe the boys red eye see jaguar at public estate.. Really itchy legs and lousy behaved teenagers
  5. my aunt needs a car and i want to try and source for a suitable one. basically must be auto the most important consideration would be low running cost like depreciation, road tax, FC, and maintenance. also would be good if the car has considerable boot space, in other words, though honda fit/jazz might be one of the lowest FC car in singapore, it is too small. i have done some initial research: honda airwave, has great boot space, some models have sunroof, have low depreciation honda freed, can seat 7 person, back seat can fold down to create same amount of space as airwave, but slightly higher depreciation. toyota vios, lowest FC from what i heard, but no boot space. toyota sienta, can seat 7 person, similar to freed. toyota wish, but last row cannot fold down. Honda Edix, 6 seater in two rows, but is the boot space as large as airwave? which of these have the best FC? are there any other cars with better FC with similar features? basically, a car with good FC and have a large boot space, if it happens to be a 7 seater, then the last row can hide must be a feature. Thanks a lot.
  6. Growing numbers of motorists have been caught running red lights, Traffic Police figures revealed on Thursday. There were 5,400 such violations between January and March this year, 800 more than in the same period last year. The issue was thrust into the spotlight last month following two serious accidents at the Victoria Street-Rochor Road junction in Bugis. Both allegedly involved cars running the red light. The number of such cases has been on the rise in recent years. There were 17,490 in the whole of last year, up from 17,180 in 2010. 10. Eric Cantona announces bid for French presidency Eric Cantona, the former Manchester United striker, has said he wants to run in this year's presidential election in France and is trying to gather the signatures needed to do so. The footballer, who would need the backing of 500 elected officials by the end of February to run, has sent a letter to French mayors describing himself as an "engaged citizen" and asking for their support. "This engagement obliges me to speak, more earnestly than usual, but also with a keen sense of my responsibility, at a time when our country faces difficult choices which will be decisive for its future," said the letter. In his letter, printed in the Liberation newspaper, Cantona denounced the limited opportunities for young people in France and social injustices which were "too numerous, too violent, too systematic", the newspaper said. Election candidates will compete in a first round in late April, with the two biggest vote-winners going through to a decisive second round in early May. Socialist candidate Francois Hollande is currently leading President Nicolas Sarkozy in the polls. Even if Cantona were able to get 500 signatures, a difficult task without the backing of a party, he would have virtually no chance of reaching the second round as an individual outsider. It is not the first time Cantona, who earned large sums as a footballer from sponsorship by brands like L'Oreal and Nike, has tried to draw public attention to social inequality. In December 2010, he called on French savers to stage a nationwide bank run by withdrawing their money from financial institutions because of their role in triggering the global financial crisis. Panned by the media as a flop, almost no one in France heeded the call. Cantona was convicted of assault and suspended from playing for four months in January 1995 after launching a "kung fu" kick on a spectator after being sent off. In a press conference later, he said only: "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much."
  11. Not all cars need to pull down the handbrake to run. See what happens when a driver forgets to pull it down but is still able to drive without even noticing. Very cool video
  12. I parked my car at my MSCP this afternoon and noticed that a SMRT taxi with the engine running without the driver inside. I think the driver had gone home to take his lunch or pang sai. Is diesel free? Taxi companies say that they need to increase taxi fares becos of high operating costs and high diesel prices but I notice many taxi uncles like to leave their engine running.
  13. This was what a talented young person who is studying in a prestigious university overseas for PhD said: TT huh? G'bye Singapore I'm not coming back to live anymore. The reasons and excuses this govt gives to bring in policies are exactly the same ones that are driving our real local talent away. And I doubt this person is the only one having this same sentiment and the same plans for their future. In fact more and more parents are planning for a future for their children overseas. If only LHL would shift focus from Singapore to Singaporeans instead, things would be a lot better.
  14. Sianz, the result is a forgone conclusion liao

  22. My work requires me to make daily visit to the warehouse where the Customs Operations Command is located (Keppel Road). On more den a few occasions, I saw custom officers in plain clothes but wif their dog tag hanging around their neck, standing beside their QX car, smoking and talking c--k while leaving the engine of the car running for extended period of time. I dun care if they smoke or wad, coz it
  23. The headline is just to grab your attention. Don't get excited yet. As a driver, I always try my best not to buang another car, let alone a cyclist or pedestrain. Even without traffic laws, I don't want to harm anybody. Having said that, some cyclists really treat their own lives cheaply. This morning I came across one such cyclist. I was driving down a straight 2 lane road with a concrete divider down the middle when I noted a cyclist cutting horizontally across the opposite lane (he was approaching my car at 90 degrees). When he got to the concrete divider, the guy hopped his bicycle over to my lane and made a 90 degree turn to go the same direction as me. While I applaud his cycling skills, he was lucky it was a quiet morning and I was cruising slowly, otherwise he would have to be rinsed off the road. Before anyone shouts FT, the guy looks like a teenaged local. While motorists have to take highway code, test eyesight, colour blindness and go for practical, anyone can ride a bicycle. Nowadays, the distinction between bicycle and motorbike is getting blurred as well. So what are the ways of teaching cyclists not to be so reckless? I think we should have a travelling exhibition visting schools to show gory accident pics of cyclists.
