For those of us who grew up playing Electronic Arts's Need For Speed series, this might bring back some good memories. Based on the Underground 2 installment of the series, a Russian Youtuber made a real-life version of the game for fun but it turns out cooler than expected. We won't describe what the video is like but we are pretty sure the one minute video might very well tempt you to dig that game out to play again.

Egypt's Prime Minister says a Russian civilian plane has crashed in central Sinai. The Airbus A-321 was carrying 224 passengers and crew. Confusion remains over where contact was lost with the plane, which was traveling from Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheik to St Petersburg in Russia. AFP reported that it went missing over Sinai, while other sources suggested contact was lost in Cypriot airspace. The plane was carrying 217 passengers - 17 of them children - and seven crew, according to RIA news agency. The jetliner was operated by Russian carrier Kogalymavia - which also trades by the names Kolavia and Metrojet - and most of the passengers were believed to be Russian tourists. The office of Egyptian Prime Minister Ismail Sharif confirmed the crash on Saturday. A cabinet level crisis committee has been formed to deal with the tragedy. Within a few minutes of the announcement of the crash, Egyptian research teams found debris belonging to the plane near al-Arish airport in the Sinai Peninsula, reported the dpa news agency, citing an Egyptian aviation official. Egyptian security sources told Reuters there were no early indications that the plane had been shot down. The news agency quoted a security officer at the scene saying that the plane was completely destroyed. RIP. He said the aircraft did not make contact as expected with air traffic controllers in Cyprus, and "since then the plane has not made contact and has not appeared on radars". Flight #7K9268 was descending at about 6,000 feet per minute just before signal was lost, according to Flightradar24.com. The Egyptian premier's office said the Prime Minister is expected to meet ministries and authorities to follow up on the Russian plane crash.

According to a report by The Siberian Times, the head of Russian Railways is asking the government to seriously consider his project dubbed the Trans-Eurasian Belt Development, the first modern transportation corridor that would link up the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. Plans call for the construction of a new high-speed railway and the development of major roads that would span the length of Russia, link up with existing transportation networks in Europe and Asia – and cross the Bering Strait. A network that would run about 20,000km in length. The proposal was presented at a meeting of the Russian Academy of Science and was touted, not only as a major transportation route, but as a means to create new cities and jobs in parts of Russia and Siberia that are woefully underdeveloped, and experience the haemorrhaging of young talent who leave the region for better opportunities abroad. The new network could also be used to build pipelines for oil and gas as well as infrastructure for electricity and water supplies, said Russian Railways head Vladimir Yakunin. The lofty proposal, however, comes with an equally sky-high price tag that could be trillions of dollars. Motorcyclists can finally have a navigation system too!

A comprehensive navigation system has become a standard for most, if not all, of today's cars. However, the same can't be said of motorcycles, at least not yet. With that being said, a motorcyclist will have to go through all the difficulties in reading a paper map if he wants to get the right direction to where he's heading. But now, things are about to change, thanks to a Russian company. This company is planning to come up with a solution known as the LiveMap. Featuring an earphone, a microphone, a light sensor, and - the best part - a micro display, this navigation system will project directions in the form of a heads-up display, just like what we can find featured in today's fighter jets. How cool does that sound? Unlike Google Glass - which projects images on the upper right hand side, the LiveMap will project directions right on the centre of the visor of the helmet the motorcyclist is wearing. And, thanks to the light sensor, the directions on the visor will remain transparent regardless of whether it is in the day or night. I would say that this is absolutely important as it ensures safety. A digital compass and an integrated gyroscope are also in place to make sure that the motorcyclist gets the correct orientation of the projection displayed on his visor, even if he's leaning the bike or tilting his head. Wow, this is yet another cool feature to anticipate, isn't it? But then, there's another problem, what about the power supply the helmet is going to need? Well, counting on a couple of lithium-ion batteries, the Russian company behind the solution claims that the helmet is likely to last a day. However, a USB charge plug will also come in handy should the motorcyclist require extra juice. How does this augmented-reality helmet sound? Well, if you're interested, you may want to help make it become a reality as the company is currently trying to raise US$150,000 (S$191,235) via Indiegogo. That amount is required to build a prototype that should work as expected. Then, if everything goes well, one of this LiveMap helmets may demand around US$2,000 (S$2,550) from any motorcyclist interested in it. Of course, there're always chances that prices may go down, even if we may have to wait for another decade. -
I bet you don't get to see that much when a traffic police officer goes against a scooter running at what seems to be a full speed. Honestly, it's the first time I stumbled upon such an occasion. But again, as I mentioned in the title, this is another Russian oddity. In case you haven't noticed, the Russians seem the best to go for when you're looking for some odd mishaps - you might want to check out this Hummer video as well. There's no exact word on what reason the police officer had in mind when he intended to stop the scooter. Most likely, though, the scooter rider had violated some traffic laws. Nevertheless, it seems that the Russians should teach their police officers a better way of stopping someone, especially one who's driving or riding on a vehicle. So, thing is, the police officer tried to stop the fast running scooter head on and I fail to figure out why this method seemed preferable to the officer in question. It's out of the question that this might as well lead to death or, at least, massive body injuries (you can see the officer finding it hard to get up in the video). Fortunately, the police officer didn't cause the scooter rider to lose his life. Had he done so, instead of enforcing the law, he would have had to go to prison. You know, instead of trying to tackle the scooter head on, the police officer could have achieved the very same result - yet with less risk of injuries, at least to himself - by stepping away from the scooter and kicking it hard sideways, preferably into the vehicle's front wheel. In that way, the runaway rider would be likely to lose his front wheel and would have been the only one to suffer from injuries. The officer, on the other hand, wouldn't have suffered from any at all and would still manage to stop both the scooter and the rider quite effectively. However, again, you can see in the video that, thanks to the officer's weird and ridiculous decision (at least so it seems to me), it happened the other way round. The scooter rider seemed unscathed at all while the officer, as I said earlier, could barely get back on his feet.

China and Russia are expected to co-operate further in developing military technology, the report said, including that for S-400 long-range anti-aircraft missiles, 117S large thrust engines, IL-476 large transport aircraft and IL-78 aerial tankers. China's defence ministry had no immediate comment on the report. Xi visited Moscow from Friday to Sunday for talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, his first trip abroad since becoming head of state earlier this month. The countries signed around 30 energy and other agreements during the visit. wonder if any owners of russian watches can give me feedback on whether its worth the plunge or if would appreciate if those watch experts can come in to share to. thinking of getting another watch but budget only 1.5k so thinking of steering away from the branded ones. are these russian watches even worth 1-2k, i seen some that are even 5k. how about reliability, or is it just a marketing gimmick
