  3. Hi all, Happy New Year, Would like to find out more about the maintenance cost for Saab and Volvo. a) For normal servicing, do the local ADs allow you to bring your own oil and oil filter? b) What is the indicative servicing cost for the respective service intervals? Some other brands AD published their servicing cost on-line, Saab and Volvo, do they? c) Which brand has the perceived higher maintenance cost in the long run? d) Are there lack of local expertise in servicing these 2 car brands? e) Are there local stockist for parts and accessories of these 2 brands? f) Generally, which one has a higher insurance premium? g) Are there authorized servicing centre in JB for these 2 brands? Can new and old cars (after 3 years) go there for servicing? in case they only recognize MY regsitered Saab or Volvo. Thank you very much. Regards,
  4. Saw the ad on Sat newspaper. SAAB 9-3 selling 99888... Finally drop from their obstinate 128k price tag for a long time to adjust according to current market condition.
  5. Along PIE towards tuas. You cut into my lane and caused me to jam brake. Its ok, its common to have arrogant drivers like you. But i told myself if i got the chance to overtake u near the the clemento exit, U die. True enough i know u are not smart enough to keep to the middle lane. I got infront of u and brake until....60km/h. U angry right? Wondering why this stupid car block ur way. My aim is just to let u have a taste what i just been thru. Relax... We are equal already. Just to let u know... later on those 'stunts' that u chut doesnt affect me because i maintained my speed and kept a safety distance. It just tells me u are childish and wanna show off. Did u see mycarfoum decal? Yes l'm from this forum. 1 more thing... alot of road users just want to drive from 1 place to another in 1 piece. You wanna play... go somewhere else.
  6. Looking in 2nd hand market for these 2 cars. Both are latest facelift version, i.e. A4 with big front grill (2005 onwards) and 9-5 with lots of chrome trim in the front (2006 onwards). Both are highly tuneable for performance, just want to know more on maintaining these cars, 1. Source of spare parts & cost 2. Reliability Thanks
  7. http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-2IaRz5o2-1067.html Wonder if this is a good deal for short term 2-3year drive? Things to consider ... a)regular servicing cost - service manual / stockist? b)100k km service - replacement all of major wear and tear parts (is there a list? how much will that cost?) c)outside workshop - I understand that there is one reliable one at Pandan Loop - is it still around? d)history ... is this that monk -> sgdude Aero? Thanks
  8. Hi I'm considering either used S60 or 9-3 Both are quite affordable for the 3-4yrs old range arn 60+ I like 9-3 for its handsome good looks. But I'm quite surprised despite so much torque its quite slow. I like S60 for its solid built and space. and also better brand awareness in the local market. But S60 does not have tiptronic style gear shift which is one of my must have wish list. Which of the 2 are better in: Faster sprint Fuel Economy Maintenance cost - Regular maintenance cost and intervals - Timing belt changes - Fuel filter - Shock absorbers Availability of parts Reliability What are the common issues Ease of 'Mod-ability' The recent ad on ST says S60 is very fuel economical... how true is that? any S60 owners can testify that? Thanks!
  9. Any Saab owners around? or is there any working Saab owners club or forum around?

  11. Open clarification to Black/Dark Blue Saab93 Driver along North Bridge Road towards Chinatown just outside High Street Centre turning into North Boat Quay which you finally turned into MOS carpark at Clark Quay. I was the driver of the car ahead of you that you blasted and long honked. I have absolutely no idea what you were honking at me for when 1. You failed to notice the obstacle ahead of you before hand 2. Forcing your way into my lane; 3. Failing to cut into my lane as I was ahead of you A) Where you expecting me to jam brake just so you can avoid the digging machine parked ahead of you? B) The left corner of your car was right beside me at the driver's door and you were still aggressively trying to drive me out of my lane while sounding your horn at me. Where you really trying to drive me out to the next lane? Or was it all my imagination? I stopped my car and thought about getting off and clarifying with you, but had second thoughts and drove ahead (too many cases of man on bonnet these days) I drove slowly so that you could drive up beside me and tell me what your intentions were. Instead, you chose to go behind me slowly. I really have no idea what you were up to. I would like to hear your side of the story if you're reading this. Thank you for your time.
  12. Any shop to recommend for servicing my 2nd hand Saab 95. Thanks !

  14. At Saab Showroom, Leng Kee, revealed on Friday 12, May 07. Catch a last glimpse on Saturday before it heads out to another country next on its world tour. A stunning piece of design and innovation. More beautiful and sleeker than any other car out there, IMO. It features a concept of windows without A-pillars (those annoying pillars that hold up the windscreen) to give a full panoramic view of everything around, completely amazing experience for those who test drive it. although rated at 400Bhp, the showpiece is severely detuned so nobody can trash it when test driving, eg. journalistic reports and reviews of a prototype. find out more about it here : www.saab.com/microsites/aero_x/GLOBAL/en/index2.shtml photos do not do justice of seeing it for yourself. It is really I think the most beautifully designed car in the world.

  18. Saab to Recall Nearly 300,000 Cars Globally 2 hours, 53 minutes ago STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Saab plans to recall almost 300,000 cars worldwide because of a problem with the ignition system, a company spokesman said Thursday. The recall will affect gas-engine 9-3 and 9-5 models made in 2000, 2001, and 2002, said Orjan Aslund, a Swedish spokesman for General Motors Corp., which owns Saab. He said the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found problems in the ignition system that can lead to overheating. "There's no immediate danger to drivers so the recall will happen in stages," Aslund told Dow Jones Newswires. He expected all of the 287,987 cars to have been fixed in the first half of next year. He refused to comment on how much it would cost to replace the ignition boxes, but Swedish news reports said it could cost more than 600 million kronor ($77 million). http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050929/ap_on_...den_saab_recall
  19. http://www.autospectator.com/modules/news/...hp?storyid=1191 It seems that SAAB is extremely committed to Ethanol as a bridging solution to the gasoline crisis before the advent of bio-hyrogen fuel. In fact, the 9-3 hybrid car has just been unveiled at the Stockholm Motor show: http://www.greencarcongress.com/2006/03/saab_unveils_e1.html "Combining a 260 hp (191 kW) 2.0-litre turbo BioPower engine and two electric motors totalling 53 kW, the BioPower Hybrid Concept can briefly generate torque values three times greater than its gasoline-only equivalent. The new modular hybrid system features a maintenance-free, 300-volt Li-ion battery pack designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle, a 38kW rear-mounted electric motor, a 15 kW integrated starter/generator (ISG) and all-wheel-drive with electric power transmission to the rear wheels. The all-aluminum 2.0-liter BioPower engine is modified to run on pure E100 ethanol fuel, giving zero fossil CO2 exhaust emissions, and operates in tandem with the electrical power system. This system offers fuel-saving stop/start functionality, torque boosting electric power assistance on demand, an electric-only

  21. Hi to all, After years of coveting a Saab I finally got one, a 2003-registered Aero 2.3TS. The previous owner was a certain well-known monk (yes I read the thread). My previous car was a Skoda Octavia Elegance with the VW 1.8T engine. Cheers, Sgdude P.S. Hi Turbobrick! Back in SG already?
  22. I am came across a blue 9-5 (year 2001) on sale at the Thomson used carmart at Tagore Lane. The sales guy claim that it was previously owned by his boss's son. Is he a bro in this forum? I'm wondering whether it is a good buy.
  23. Wednesday 5th October 2005 (AutoExpress) http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/60769/93..._by_recall.html 9-3 hit by recall Saab is preparing to recall 33,100 cars in the UK due to an ignition fault. The move follows incidents of smoke and fire in the ignition discharge module in 9-3 and 9-5 models built between 2000 and 2002. "The move is just a safety precaution," said a Saab spokesman.
