  1. DETROIT, Mich. -- The all-new Saab 9-7X goes on sale in the United States this spring with very attractive pricing. Saab's first-ever SUV will come in two models: the Linear, priced at $38,990.00 and the Arc, priced at $40,990.00. Both MSRP's include a $720.00 destination charge. The 9-7X SUV is just one part of the most aggressive product development offensive in Saab's 57-year history. It joins the 9-3 Sport Sedan and Convertible, the 9-5 Sedan and SportWagon and the all-wheel drive 9-2X, as well as the upcoming all-new Saab 9-3 SportCombi and the 250-hp 2.8V6 Turbo, which will become available in all 9-3 Aero models later this year. The 9-7X Linear features standard all-wheel drive, leather-appointed heated front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, side-curtain airbags, integrated roof rails, OnStar, XM Satellite Radio, 6-CD Bose audio system and a choice between a moonroof or a rear-DVD entertainment system. It is powered by an in-line 6-cylinder engine that makes 275 hp and 275 lb.-ft. of torque. The 9-7X Arc adds xenon headlamps, adjustable pedals, headlamp washers and a 300-hp/330 lb.-ft. V8. Saab owners will feel right at home in the 9-7X, which has the familiar ****pit-inspired instrument panel, signature sliding-plate vents, in-dash cupholder and center console-mounted ignition. The Saab 9-7X can be ordered in Obsidian Black, Titanium Silver and Ocean Blue. Saab is making the 9-7X SUV even more attractive with a limited special offer. By registering before March 31, 2005, customers who purchase or lease a 2005 9-7X will get three years of free OnStar "Safe & Sound" and XM Satellite Radio service, a $700.00 value. In addition, current Saab drivers whose leases expire in February, March or April will qualify for a lease extension of up to six months to enable them to take delivery of a new 2005 9-7X. Saab will target potential customers with a direct mail campaign by the end of February 2005. This mailing will direct prospects to the Saab 9-7X website, www.saab97Xsuv.com. Once customers have registered at this website, they will automatically receive the additional free services once they take delivery of their 2005 9-7X. Interested customers can go directly to the website even if they did not receive the mailing from Saab. "The 9-7X joins the Saab lineup at the right time because the demand for premium midsize SUV's is strong," said Debra Kelly-Ennis, President and COO of Saab USA. "About forty percent of current Saab owners already have an SUV of another make in their garage, while nearly 30 percent of Saab owners have left the brand for an SUV in the past. With the 9-7X, Saab will be able to take advantage of the continued growth in this segment." On top of that, the Saab 9-7X SUV represents outstanding value for money, especially when compared with the Volvo XC90. Not only has the 9-7X more headroom, legroom, towing capability and engine torque, it is also priced at over $8,000.00 less than a comparably equipped XC90 V8. Saab Automobile AB and Saab Cars USA, Inc. are subsidiary companies of General Motors Corp. Saab Cars USA is the importer of Saab 9-2X, 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles for Saab Automobile AB, Sweden. 3. This morning saw some quick fast and furious action in front of me along Nicole Highway towards CBD. There I saw, on lane one, a SAAB being tailed by a Vios with the SAAB simple not wanting to yield at all (speed about 80kmh). The Vios must have dropped gear and floored, going into lane 2 (must have hit 100kmh+). Then the action begins with both cars side by side going into the S-bends. Into the first right bend they're still side by side, but as the 2nd bend (left bend) comes up, the SAAB brakes and the Vios hold his corner well and blasts off all the way straight towards the Esplanade area. Heard of a saying before... "Straights are for fast cars, corners are for fast drivers" Think the SAAB bit off more than he could chew on that Vios driver.
  4. Understand that the Saab 93 / 95 and the Volvo S60, S70, M70, C70, S80, XD90, S40, V40 uses the following ATF : http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lubes/PDS...il_ATF_3309.asp Where do you guys get your ATF from? Any one found / tried the Mobil 3309 ATF in Spore?
  5. Hi, Anyone know of any shop to service SAAB other than the dealer. Thanks !!
  6. I'm considering a Saab 95 . I owned VW before and the car had black plastic trimmings/door handles running along the doors and bumbers. The problem with these was that they faded to patchy grey in our local climate and were a constant eye sore. The only remedy was to do regular polishing (I used Autoglym), which was quite a task. I've seen a number of Saabs where the exterior trimmings/door handles (and evening windscreen/door window seals) faded quite badly. I've also seen Saabs with painted door trimmings/handles where the paint is beginning to come off those areas . Saab owners - Can you advise how do you tackle this problem? Thanks. Mukaiya
  7. All-new Saab 9-3 SportCombi: Power and versatility, Saab style The all-new Saab 9-3 SportCombi, announced today, takes Saab into the premium, mid-size wagon segment for the first time by combining distinctive design with sporty driving dynamics as an alternative to the qualities of a conventional wagon. Its strong, compact proportions are a bold reaffirmation of a Saab tradition for designing cars that are sporty in character and versatile in use. The cohesive five-door styling and a muscular, 'hewn from solid' stance give the 9-3 SportCombi a clear, stand-out identity within the Saab 9-3 range. Making its public debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show and due to go on sale from September, the 9-3 SportCombi will appeal to customers who require the versatility of a wagon, including smart load-carrying features and a generously proportioned cargo deck, without compromising their desire for driving satisfaction. Last year, Europe's growing premium mid-size wagon segment reached a quarter of a million units, with diesel engines accounting for 70 per cent of sales. Building on Saab's reputation for sporty, versatile design and offering strong diesel powertrain options, the 9-3 SportCombi is poised to open up major new sales opportunities for the brand. The high performance, 250 bhp Aero model is unique to the segment in having a turbocharged six cylinder engine, which will also be added to the 9-3 Sport Sedan and Convertible ranges. It leads a comprehensive model line-up including six gasoline and two Euro 4 compliant diesel engine options. Carl-Peter Forster, President GM Europe, says: "The first turbocharged application of GM's new global V6 engine architecture will spearhead Saab's entry into Europe's premium, mid-size wagon segment, where we expect the 9-3 SportCombi range as a whole to establish a strong presence." Progressive design With a striking, wedge-like profile and Saab 'signature' styling cues, the close-coupled proportions of the 9-3 SportCombi include a surprisingly spacious cargo deck (rear seat up/down volume 419/1273 liters VDA) and useful load-carrying features.

  9. January 11, 2005 DETROIT -- Saab remains a valuable brand for General Motors, the head of the carmaker's European division said on Tuesday, dismissing a newspaper report that the Swedish unit's future might be in doubt. "Saab is an important brand for General Motors. It is the only entry premium brand globally, it is one of the few global brands we have, it is almost 100 percent conquest sales for General Motors. So it is of very high importance for us," GM Europe Chairman Fritz Henderson told reporters at the North American International Auto Show. But he added that GM was looking for ways to improve performance at Saab, in part by expanding its product range. "Having a two-product global brand is not a recipe for success," Henderson said. Henderson said GM Europe would announce in the first quarter whether it will build its next-generation mid-size car at a Saab plant in Sweden or at an Opel plant in Germany. He declined to say which plant had the inside track for the job. He also said GM was looking at ways to make future production more flexible, perhaps by building some European brand cars in North America. "You do that typically when you look at new products and new architectures. I think over time we will do more of that. I have been asked the question before: do you have to build all Saabs in Sweden? The answer is no. You can build Opels in Sweden, too," Henderson said. On other subjects, he said GM was reviewing its options for introducing diesel motors to its Cadillac cars in Europe, where diesel is much more popular than in the U.S. market. "Buying one from BMW is an option. It's not the only one," he said.
  10. Fellas! I just tested these 2 models. The 9-3 sibei fast sia! Thats when the LPT kicks in. Even though its LPT, it feels like a full boost turbo! But the interior really cannot make it lah. It looks cheap and is full of plastics. I bet rattles and shakes will surface before long. Of the 2, I like the C class the best. Its not fast but is comfortable, quiet and luxurious. So Radx ---> I guess the choice is now between the new C Class, the upcoming E90 and the E46 coupe (or Cabrio)

Saab adds a new hatchback for 2005. The 9-2X is Saab's version of the Subaru Impreza WRX. General Motors Corp. has ownership stakes in both Saab and Subaru. The 9-2X is restyled from the Subaru model and has a new interior and more sound insulation. There are two engines: A 165-horsepower naturally aspirated four cylinder and a 227-horsepower turbocharged four cylinder

  13. Hi, The DI casette went up in smoke (literally) during starting. No ignition at all after that....just smoke It is a simple procedure to replace a DI but the failure comes at 63,000 km, tot 80,000km was the benchmark? My 9000 aero's DI went 120,000 before losing one cylinder Nevermind, but this is an unexpected total failure without any warning whatesoever. Losing one cylinder still buys u time to limp home but what if you are on an expressway and have a total failure like mine? Thing is the car is religiously maintained at every 10,000 km. Only difference is that I use Denso Iridium plugs....the one with the 0.4mm tips. Selected the correct heat range from the menu at Autobacs (they do have a plug specified for the 95)....response is a little better than the NGKs. Would like to seek opinions from fellow Saab fans...is using Denso plugs okay and what is the general expectancy for a DI casette. Will running slightly more 'enthusiatic' ECU settings also accelerate the demise of DIs? The thing that worries me is that the DI literally smoke out....a typical failure normally loses one or two cylinders....not as catastrophic

  18. Saab to add 9-2 Model to its Product Line in 2004 Start of sales in U.S. and Canada in July 2004 The new 2005 Saab 9-2X is the next significant step in the biggest product development program in Saab's history. Saab the fastest growing European premium car brand in the American market recently launched the 9-3 Sport Sedan and 9-3 Convertible model ranges. Now the new 9-2X continues this product offensive. With standard full-time all-wheel-drive, powerful engines, and distinctive European design, the Saab 9-2X is a unique and early offering in a car segment just emerging in the American market: the premium sports compact segment. The first Saab 9-2X models will go on sale in the U.S. and Canada July 1, 2004 ahead of many competitors who are also bringing products to this market. The Saab 9-2X is the ideal addition to our line-up, says Peter Augustsson, Saab's President and CEO. Like the recently-launched Saab 9-3 models, it is extremely dynamic and is a car that you want to drive. Additionally, its price point will attract some new, young, enthusiastic customers to Saab. For many customers, the Saab 9-2X will be their first premium brand vehicle as prices start below $25,000. In addition, customer surveys show that up to 40 percent of all Americans are looking for all-wheel-drive in their next vehicle a feature standard in all Saab 9-2X models, a distinct advantage as Saab enters this new segment. The Saab 9-2X will help us continue our extremely strong momentum, said Debra Kelly-Ennis, President of Saab Cars USA. We are definitely on a roll. The 9-3 Sport Sedan is outselling its predecessor two to one, we are in the midst of launching our all-new 9-3 Convertible, and this exciting new car will arrive in the early summer. The Design: Progressive with a strong, dynamic character As the new 9-2X range is tremendously fun to drive and since we are targeting a young and enthusiastic customer, we decided to express the strong and dynamic character of the 9-2X in its design and even add a bit more of an aggressive touch compared to the rest of our line-up, comments Saab's Executive Director of Design, Michael Mauer. The new Saab 9-2X takes a number of styling cues from recently-presented Saab concept and production vehicles and presents Saab's view on what a fun-to-drive, versatile 5-door vehicle should look like. The Saab 9-2X needs to look as aggressive as its driving capabilities, says Mauer. Additionally, even though it is a functional 5-door vehicle, it shouldn't look like a traditional wagon. Therefore, we spent a great deal of time making sure it had a strong face and sleek Scandinavian lines. The vehicle retains Saab's now familiar curvaceous front that harmoniously integrates the typical three-hole-grille and the low horizontally emphasized headlamps that wrap around into the sides of the car. Below the bumper area, a pronounced air intake signals the dynamic potential of the new Sports compact. On the top-of-the-line 9-2X Aero model, the clean line of the front hood is accentuated by a nicely integrated air intake that feeds air to the intercooler of the turbo engine. As with the 2004 Saab 9-5 Aero SportWagon, the horizontal lines in the design of the 9-2X's rear end contribute to the car's wide and powerful stance. Additionally, the rear apron's dark accent provides a sporty flair. Performance: Sporty and focused on the driver The Saab 9-2X's advanced full-time all-wheel-drive and boxer four cylinder engines are firsts in Saab's history. Further technical highlights include four-wheel independent suspension and Four-wheel disc brakes which, when partnered with a latest generation 4-channel/4-sensor anti-lock brake system (ABS), provide enhanced driver control. Traction and handling performance of the 9-2X Aero is further improved by a viscous limited-slip differential at the rear. The turbocharged and intercooled two-liter high performance DOHC 9-2X Aero engine produces 227 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 217 lb.-ft. (294 Nm) of torque @ 4,000 rpm. The power plant of the Saab 9-2X 2.5 is naturally aspirated and delivers 165 hp @ 5,600 rpm as well as a maximum torque of 166 lb.-ft. (225Nm) @ 4,000 rpm. Both cars provide a standard 5-speed manual transmission; a 4-speed automatic transmission is available as an option. The Saab 9-2X is the best example yet of Saab's brand promise of delivering sporty, driver focused performance, says Kjell-
  19. Saab Announces Its First SUV: the Saab 9-7X Continuing the biggest product offensive in its history, Saab Automobile AB announces its latest new model and first sport utility vehicle, the 2005 Saab 9-7X. Featuring standard all-wheel-drive and two engine choices, the mid-size SUV will fill Saab's need for an entry is this rapidly growing market segment. The Saab 9-7X will make its world debut at the 2004 New York Auto Show in April, 2004, and will go on sale about one year later. Initially, the 9-7X will be produced specifically for the United States and Canadian markets. "We are pleased to continue to expand our product line in the very important North American market," commented Peter Augustsson, President and CEO of Saab Automobile AB. "With the Saab 9-X and 9-3X concept vehicles, followed by the award-winning Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan and Convertible, the 9-3 Sport-Hatch concept and the dynamic new 9-2X, we are exceeding our commitment to introduce one new vehicle or concept each year for five years." The new 9-7X will be built at GM's Moraine Assembly plant in Ohio, beginning in the first quarter of 2005.
  20. Well connected In an increasingly hectic world, where communication is at the heart of our daily lives, you need to stay in touch to stay ahead. Owners of the Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan can be at the forefront of telecommunications, thanks to the new Saab Integrated Phone. The GPRS telephone comes equipped with a wide range of features that put you in full control. The steering wheel buttons and voice recognition facility make phone calls simpler and safer, and a wireless connection enables you to make and receive phone calls via a Bluetooth-qualified headset. With four times the data transmission capacity of a standard GSM system, you'll enjoy swift, smooth Internet connections for your laptop or PDA. It's also possible to access WAP via an integrated keypad and dashboard display screen. When data transmission is used, the GPRS system allows automatic access to incoming telephone calls. The phone works in tandem with your existing mobile - when you turn on the ignition and turn off your mobile, calls are automatically redirected to the Saab Integrated Telephone, so you don't need to worry about dealing with two phones or changing numbers. This innovative phone system is available as an option with the Saab Infotainment (ES2) or Saab Infotainment Plus (ES3) systems. Existing Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan owners can also purchase the phone as an accessory. Click on the link to watch the Saab communications online movie, and if you'd like to find out more, please contact your local Saab dealer. Requirements

  23. My prev Saab 95 2002 has been sold but I have a few pieces of salvageable parts lying around which came out of an insurance claim for a freak accident. These parts are from my cracked left side view mirror, (mirror gone but the diecast structure, motors and internal rubber covering are intact), and 3 pieces of metal/plastic left side body door/bumper 'rims'. Anyone wants them have to come collect yourself from my house in Bedok area.
  24. The new, sporty Saab 9-2X continues Saab's biggest-ever product offensive by taking the Swedish manufacturer into a new market segment with a fresh expression of Saab's traditional reputation for combining fun-to-drive enjoyment and smart versatility. Positioned below the 9-3 Sport Sedan in size, the 9-2X is the first production Saab to have all-wheel drive and will offer excellent driving dynamics, in addition to turbo performance and hatchback practicality. Two versions will be available, both with five-door bodystyles and all-wheel-drive as standard. The entry level Saab 9-2X will be powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter engine and the top Aero model will feature a 227 bhp, 2.0-liter turbo unit. Its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in the US was confirmed today at the Tokyo Motor Show by Peter Augustsson, President and CEO of Saab Automobile AB.
  25. http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_saab_9-3_hatch-1.jpg http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_saab_9-3_hatch-3.jpg http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_saab_9-3_hatch-2.jpg Saab declares its intention to enter a new market segment with the unveiling of its Saab 9-3 Sport-Hatch Concept at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. The distinctive, five-door, four-seater format offers sporty, driver-focused performance and innovative load-carrying features, while challenging the traditional distinction between a hatchback and wagon. It is designed for customers with active, outdoor lifestyles who seek a sporty and rewarding driving experience that also delivers the versatility they need. Powered by a 250 bhp, 2.0-liter turbo engine with Saab Sentronic automatic transmission and a lowered, sports chassis sitting on 20-inch wheels, the 9-3 Sport Hatch Concept promises sharp performance to match its eye-catching looks. It is intended to take Saab into the mid-size wagon segment for the first time by offering a distinctive alternative choice, with hatchback-like proportions that are reminiscent of the shape of its classic Saab 900 forebears. Progressive Design The design language of the Saab 9-3 Sport-Hatch Concept draws its inspiration from both the 9-3X 'cross-over coupe' concept and the 9-3 Sport Sedan. For the exterior, these themes are synthesized with an economy of line and form to communicate impressions of strength, muscularity and power, all key brand drivers. The four-seat interior is a development of the 9-3X concept's layout, with innovative driver displays and a bold central motif that complements the external glass roof. These features are combined with core elements of the 9-3 Sport Sedan's cabin to create a sporty and cleanly-executed interior. The dynamic visual appeal of the car is generated by its tautly contained, almost compact, proportions. All external glazing, with the exception of the headlamp units, is presented in dark green tinted glass - a theme that is uniquely carried into the interior. From outside to inside The best of Scandinavian design should have simplicity and consistency, with rounded and clean lines contributing to a sense of 'oneness'. For Saab this means that car design must work in a 'holistic' way, introducing exterior design principles to the inside of the car. There should be no straight lines or mismatches in shape, line or form in the interior of a Saab car. The overall design strategy should echo the fluid, soft lines and contours of the exterior bodywork. The center stack has a particularly neat appearance, without the myriad of buttons and controls normally associated with audio and climate control settings. In addition to a CD slot, there are just four large controls for air conditioning, 'infotainment' and comfort functions shared by the driver and front passenger. Essential driver information is presented through three portholes in the surface. The large central one contains the speedometer and a wide range of programmable systems 'status checks', graphically displayed. These include, for example, tire pressures, seat-belt usage, light bulb status, door closures and even a front and rear outside clearance check for close maneuvering. The glass roof adds a light and airy counterpoint to the close-coupled interior ambience, again echoing a theme from the 9-3X concept, as well as providing panoramic viewing for the occupants. The rest of the interior resembles the design of the 9-3 Sport Sedan. The leather upholstery is presented throughout in beige, further highlighting the light and airy feel. All passenger seat-backs can fold forwards, completely flat, into their fixed squabs, the two in the rear folding to the same level as the rear cargo deck. The door trim inserts and handles are finished in brushed aluminum. Chassis In keeping with Saab's tradition for sporty and easily accessible engine performance, the 9-3 Sport-Hatch Concept is powered by a highly-developed 250 bhp (184 kW) version of the 2.0-liter turbo unit introduced in the 9-3 Sport Sedan, now with direct injection, variable valve timing and a twin-scroll turbocharger. It is mated to a 'Sentronic +2' automatic transmission, which includes manual gear selection via steering wheel buttons and two intermediate ratios on kick-down. The front-wheel-drive format incorporates a multi-link rear suspension and Saab ReAxs, a passive rear-wheel steer characteristic designed to increase driver involvement by preventing excessive understeer and improving 'turn-in'. The abilities of the powertrain and chassis are focused on delivering a level of performance and driving satisfaction that belies the 9-3 Sport-Hatch Concept's more functional abilities. Engine Saab is recognized as a 'Center of Expertise' within General Motors for turbocharging and the 9-3 Sport-Hatch Concept's all-aluminum engine, based on the L850 series, takes this technology to a new level. The introduction of direct injection improves combustion and fuel consumption. In this application, it also raises low-end torque by about 15 per cent up to 1,500 rpm. Breathing is improved by the use of Continuously Variable Cam Phasers (CVCP) to control both inlet and exhaust valves. Apart from improving fuel consumption on full and part-load throttle by up to five per cent, CVCP also further contributes to better low-end torque. Another 'first' for Saab is the use of a twin-scroll turbocharger. This more effectively harnesses exhaust pulse energy by separating the gas flow into two channels, instead of one, which drive the turbine wheel, now made of a titanium-aluminum alloy turbine for low-inertia. The end result is an improved throttle response which, together with better low-end flexibility, gives the Saab 9-3 Sport-Hatch Concept driver a particularly 'user-friendly' control of the strong performance on tap. In this form, the engine retains its maintenance-free chain-driven camshafts, counter-rotating balancer shafts, dual mass flywheel and integrated oil cooler. As in the Sport Sedan, the turbocharger is located in-board behind the engine. For the 9-3 Sport-Hatch Concept, a water-cooled turbocharger, operating at 1.2 bar, is fitted.
