  3. was involved in an accident with a pedestrain last yr, he was drunk and ran out during red man... Swerved away but side mirror hit him and broke off... he suffered slight head injuries and one fractured ankle... Im sure that the lights were in my favour and even the pedestrain didnt want to press charges.. went for investigation and IO said I will confirm be charged, either heavy or light.. depends on whether i beat red light anot? SUPER SAD!! However, just received a reply from TP saying that investigations showed no substantive results but does not preclude future prosecution should evidence submerged at later stage... What would you guys perceive it to be? Case more or less closed, I can ease my mind already or just that they just informing me they haven finish investigating?? Anyone with similar experiences here care to share??

  8. Taken from Auto Express: Wednesday 8th December 2004 BMW Crashes Into Row A fuss has broken out following the latest Euro NCAP crash test results, which we published last week (issue 835). BMW's new 5-Series got four stars, but only after the German firm learned of the outcome, modified the car and had it retested. Now it's annoyed that details of the revamp have been made public. Work was done on the steering column, door trim and airbag. A spokesman said: "BMW takes Euro NCAP tests very seriously, but is concerned the specific changes appear to have been released ." However, a Euro NCAP told us: "We normally say where improvements have been made." The situation has made 5-Series owners angry. Up to 12,000 of the unmodified cars have been sold in the UK, and several owners demanded BMW issue a recall. They want their cars changed in the same way the crash test models were. But the BMW spokesman said that isn't going to happen. "We want to reassure customers that changes were made for Euro NCAP, not to improve safety," he explained." err........DID I hear that correctly?? So they don't want to improve safety???
  9. BMW 3-series Plays It Safe Whether familiarity is setting in or the post-Bangle styling has been toned down isn't clear, but the next generation BMW 3-series, due to be launched in the UK in May 2005, looks almost mainstream; BMW has played safe with its volume seller. Whilst it may not look as startling as expected, the body is a useful 25 per cent stiffer yet weighs no more than the outgoing model. This, combined with a 35mm increase in wheelbase, revised suspension and BMW's obsession with 50/50 weight distribution, bodes well for the ride and handling. Standard-fit run-flat tyres could work against it, however. Inside, the new 3-series is very recognisably BMW, and will have the option of a version of the contentious i-Drive control system already seen on the 5- and 7-series. Other options include active steering and Bi-Xenon headlights. A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard across the range, as will two-stage brake-lights, while all six-cylinder models get Dynamic Stability Control. The 3-series will be launched with four revised engines - 320i, 325i and 330i petrol units and the 320d diesel. The top-line petrol motor, the 330i, will be the lightest and most powerful six-pot engine in its segment thanks to the introduction of magnesium into its construction and an output of 258bhp. Combined with 221lb ft of torque, available from 2500-4000rpm, the 330i will hit 62mph from rest in 6.3sec. However, if its rumoured outputs turn out to be true, the hardest-hitting engine of the range could be the forthcoming twin-turbo 330 diesel. Said to produce 9bhp more than the petrol 330, it also boasts an outrageous 413lb ft, which is 30lb ft more than even the mighty V10 M5; in-gear acceleration should be prodigious. By the end of 2006 the 3-series performance crown will pass to the new M3. A development mule has already been spotted testing and is thought to be powered by a 4-litre, 400bhp V8 version of the M5's V10. A six-speed manual is likely to remain the standard gearbox, complemented by an optional seven-speed version of the SMG semi-auto.
  10. Just changed my spark plugs and found out that the fuel additive tablet that I am using has left a red/brown colour stain on the plugs .... it does not wipe off easily so not just some residue on it but more like permanent stain on the plugs (a little like light rusting). I was by the mechanic that this is due to fuel additive and also the Denso plug reading picture also show the same thing. I wrote to the maker of the tablet and they told me this is tested to be harmless and they also ask me to see that the plug are actually very clean except for the colour .... that is true, the plugs were very clean for 10K km old plugs. But according to others, this will have some effect on the other components in the engine system like the O2 sensors, catalytic converter, etc. Since I have been using the tablet for more than 10 times, shouldn't it start to effect them already or should be much later ??? So far the engine light has not come on so I assume the O2 sensor is still OK. I am not sure who I should believe Can anyone help ??? Anyone with past experience. Do you think I should continue using the remaining tablets that I have ? Not use it since I changed the plugs.
