  1. intending to go for dinner at JB during the weekends. is geylang pateh safe? anyone kenna car stolen or got into trouble there? what about larkin?
  2. Dun misunderstand me. I trust the ratings absolutely. But so many ADs in Singapore are advertising their cars as 5-stars when the Singapore version only comes with dual airbags (the tests in EURONCAP come with full front, body and side airbags)!!! How many of you actually bother about safety when you are choosing a car? Example: http://www.euroncap.com/tests/nissan_qashqai_2007/290.aspx http://www.nissan.com.sg/lookfor/qashqai/qashqai_safety.cfm http://www.euroncap.com/tests/ford_fiesta_2008/333.aspx http://www.regentmotors.com.sg/vehicles/new-ford-fiesta/ There are more examples. VW Polo for example.. I'm not sure if it comes with 2 or 6 airbags. Check out VW website where they also mention 5-stars. Can complain to CASE?
  3. from this thread http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2667668 many have commented that PRs have 0 loyalty for singapore despite going thru NS and attaining citizenship i recall long ago i once read that LKY once said that he doesn't trust giving arms to non-chinese races in NS; not sure if its true so does he think its safe to pass arms to these new citizens? are these new citizens allowed to carry arms and go to war for singapore?
  4. http://forums.asiaone.com/showthread.php?t=41771 It's amazing....this is a mid size safe. I was thinking at least it weights 20kg or more? But the way she carry it....machiam it's only 5kg. 5. Yahoo news : Man hurt as portable toilet explodes in Australia A man suffered life-threatening burns Monday after a portable toilet he was using exploded, apparently after he lit a cigarette. The victim, who was taking part in a joint Australia-United States military exercise at the time, was rushed to hospital with burns to his head, face, arms, chest and airways after the incident at Rockhampton airport. "There was some sort of explosion in a portaloo. It's believed the man was lighting a cigarette at the time," a Department of Community Safety spokeswoman said. The Australian Defence Force confirmed the explosion happened during the Talisman Sabre joint military exercises, and said the injured man belonged to the Royal Australian Air Force. "The Royal Australian Air Force member received immediate first aid from his colleagues and he was taken to the Rockhampton Base Hospital with severe burns," said spokesman Brigadier Bob Brown. Hmmmmm................. someone pour aircraft fuel into the loo ............
  6. As above. My tyre lost about 23.6% of the tyre pressure within a week. I normally pump the 2 front tyres 250. But about a week later, my front left is 236 and my front right is 196. A drastic drop. Can I still continue to drive it? Actually, it has been like this for weeks. But just that I pump every few days to compensate the loss. My tyres are reaching 40K (38Kplus) and 2 years in a month more time. Should I change now, or should I tahan until 40k?
  7. Check this out!!! http://www.air-purifiers-info.com/11078-car-ionizer.htm Happen to come across this site & starts to get worry. Any expert here got any advice?
  8. Found to be safe....although still not good to indulge in such food. ----- Jun 14, 2011 Nong Shim, Nissin instant noodles safe to eat By Jessica Lim Nong Shim's Shin Ramyun and Nissin noodles. -- ST PHOTO: WONG KWAI CHOW and SHAHRIYA YAHAYA INSTANT noodles here are safe to eat, said the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) on Sunday. The reassurance from Singapore's food safety watchdog came after excessive amounts of a cancer-causing plasticiser was found in Chinese-made Japanese and Korean instant noodle brands in Hong Kong. The brands in question: Korean instant noodles Nong Shim's Shin Ramyun and Shin Ramen, as well as Japan's Nissin noodles. The affected samples of both brands were made in China. According to the AVA, Singapore has not imported any Nissin instant noodles from China this year. Any Nissin instant noodles sold here are made in either Singapore or Indonesia, said an AVA spokesman, who added that the agency has tested the Nong Shim brand of noodles here for contamination. 'The AVA has taken samples of Nong Shim instant noodles available in the local retail market for testing. No contamination has been detected in the noodles or the seasoning,' said the agency's spokesman, who added that the Nong Shim noodles here are made in South Korea and China. 'The AVA will continue to monitor the situation closely.'

  14. Gang armed with parangs go on slashing spree in Bukit Panjang By Ewen Boey
  15. Nowadays gangsters with parangs/choppers can appear out from nowhere. If you happen to bump into them and they question you "seow eeeh, li simi tong?" Just say "Kar ki nang" to congfuse them, gangsters boh tak cheh, they may just take your words. If they see thru your ploy . . . . . . . RUN!!
  16. Hi all, Wanna know whether this is considered safe overtaking: 1. At lane 1, Car A in front is traveling at around 90~100 and there is wide gap in front (about 5~6 cars length). 2. Car B behind Car A wanted to overtake. 3. So Car B, move to Lane 2 and overtake Car A at Lane 1 easily without even stepping on brake. Turn Right signal was given. 4. Car A then high beamed and horned at Car B persistently. So Should Car B feel guilty? Regards,
  17. After market wheels usually require a spigot ring as an adaptor to the car's center spigot. Most to these are hard plastic. I read that the studs cannot take shear forces. It only bolts the wheels to the hub. All the shear forces are absorbed by the wheel center spigot (and the plastic ring), is it safe to use plastic ? Why not metal ?
  18. First time every experiencing pre safe today....At pie when suddenly this idiotic driver quickly changes lane without signaling. was traveling at about 100kph and then had to jam to about 40.....Seatbelt tightened, my passenger seat was in recline position and double-time to incline. really first time in my life...felt so secure with ABS acting in, some more wet roads. 22. Not to sound uncaring but can share what would be the safe/appropriate way to handle the following situations given that you are driving and alone in the car:- (1) You saw a fellow driver inside their car, with boot lid up, no breakdown signage displayed. Visibility low and in the middle of deserted road/expressway. (2) You saw a fellow driver slumped over steering wheel, car in the middle of a road during daytime. (3) You encounter a drunk driver behind the wheels in the wee hours of the morning.
  23. This morning si bey suay. Turning head in into a parking lot next to kerb, my front left wheel hit the kerb at slow speed, but still kenna. Other than a sratched rim, there was a small chunk of rubber that was right at the edge of the rim that got cut off. As this tire is very new, less than 2 weeks, I feel very reluctant to change it. Can any bro here advise how safe or unsafe such a situation is? Thanks.
