  3. Q1: What is the condition? A1: There is a possibility that certain accelerator pedal mechanisms may, in rare instances, mechanically stick in a partially depressed position or return slowly to the idle position. Q2: What is the cause? A2: As a result of wear combined with certain operating and environmental conditions, friction in the mechanism may increase and intermittently result in the accelerator pedal being hard to depress, slow to return or, in the worst case, stick in a partially open position. Q3: Which and how many vehicles are involved? A3: No vehicle sold by Borneo Motors (S) Pte Ltd is affected by this recall exercise. Q4: What is the solution that Toyota announced to fix sticking accelerator pedals? A4: Toyota's engineers have developed and rigorously tested a solution that is both effective and simple. A precision-cut steel reinforcement bar will be installed into the accelerator pedal assembly, thereby eliminating the excess friction that has caused pedals to stick in rare instances. If you have additional questions or seek clarifications that are not addressed here, please contact our Borneo Motors Customer Contact Centre at 6475-1288 from 8.00am

  8. Recently, after my 20,000 servicing, I felt vibration when travelling above 105km/h. I learnt from reading this forum and from tyre shops it could be due to balancing. True enough , re-balancing the front tyres solved the problem. But when at the tyre shop, the staff pointed to me that the rear Right tyre has uneven wear. Again learnt from this forum, it could be due to wheel alignment. Got the alignment of the front wheel corrected, which I suspected caused the uneven tyre wear before it was moved to the rear. Rear Left ---------------------------------- > Rear Right Question : My tyres are 24,000km old. Is it safe to to continue at least till 30,000km then change or should I change it now ?

  12. This 'monster truck' not only towers above other vehicles on the road, it also has metal bars installed as bumpers. A vehicle such as this would likely make a mess of any vehicle it got into an accident with, says a STOMPer. Here's what the concerned STOMPer had to say: "This 'monster truck' was spotted in a carpark near Sin Ming Avenue. "As you can see clearly from the photo, the body of the 'monster truck' is well above the normal height and metal bars were installed as bumpers. "I can only imagine the damage that could be inflicted to another party's vehicle should this 'monster truck' get involved in an accident. "Could the LTA comment if this kind of dangerous vehicle is allowed on our roads?"

  14. Hi bro/sis, Thinking of getting one digital safe box (like those hotel size) to put my 2 diamonds and 1 goldbar Any reliable brand (support 6 digit PIN) recommended brand? I understand that most, if not all, the safe box are only fire-resistant, not fire-proof.. and I'm ok with that.
  15. Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a good quality safe box for my home. I don't mind paying more for a good brand that provide enough resistance against a burglary - something that makes it really frustrating for him to tray to break open. Other than the uber-expensive Chubb, are there any options that anyone can recommend for value? I'd prefer not to buy those from HomeFix, Giant or some stationery stores. Thanks!
  16. I think hand job is the safest, whether DIY or through someone hands. Forget about condom. Regards,
  17. For the same car model, we pay probably the highest price in the world yet with the barest minimum safety features. No. of airbags is reduced, things like BA are dropped. This is especially disturbing whenever I travel overseas when I see cars of half price compared to SG yet with better safety specs. Effectively we have to settle down with a lesser car for a higher price, no thanks to the ARF, excise duty and such. The government should really scrap the ARF and encourage/regulate agents to bring in the full-spec'ed cars. This way, the price of the car may remain roughly the same so there won't be much impact on the car population. Only thing is whether this revenue source can be covered by something else, say, higher ERP?
  18. I'm thinking of getting a basic safe for home use, mainly to keep important document safe in the event of a fire. Any recommendations on what i should look out for? Found some brands like Eagle, Diplomat, Premier etc.. are they ok? Dial or electronic type better??

  21. SINGAPORE, one of Asia's wealthiest cities, is not completely immune from a tsunami and should prepare for the possibility, an expert on coastal areas warned on Friday. The island-state can be hit by a tsunami generated from three locations and the waves could damage key coastal infrastructure without being too high, said Professor Wong Poh Poh of the National University of Singapore geography department. 'It's not that we are totally immune. No, we are not immune,' Prof Wong said. He was speaking at a news conference to launch a report, by the aid and development organisation World Vision, on the impact of climate change on poor people. To cause damage, waves hitting Singapore need not be as huge as the ones that devastated Indonesia's Aceh in December 2004, killing 168,000 people, Wong said. Aceh was struck by a wave about 10 metres high. 'We don't need 10 metres. The problem with Singapore is... we have a lot of infrastructure on the coast. All you need is a very low wave to just come in and hit certain areas,' he said. 'Changi Airport will be very vulnerable,' he said, adding the man-made island of Jurong which houses a sprawling petrochemical complex is also at risk, and urged the government to commission a study on tsunamis. With increase in reclamation & construction on our small island, I find that this something not to be taken lightly.
  22. Drivers have been raising a ruckus about the hazardous driving conditions created by the F1 safety barriers in Marina Centre and Suntec City, especially at Raffles Boulevard. Preparations for the F1 race next week have resulted in two rows of barriers and fences - 4.2 metres high - sprouting up from both sides of Raffles Boulevard. These barriers, drivers say, inevitably create blind spots and make driving in the area more dangerous. Raffles Boulevard is part of the F1 street circuit. On the other hand, it is also a key thoroughfare for motorists who work in the Marina-Suntec area. One driver actually told my paper, "Regardless of whether I am turning into Raffles Boulevard from a sideroad or exiting into a sideroad from Raffles Boulevard, my vision is always obstructed by the 4.2 metre barrier. This makes it impossible to see oncoming cars. [nod] Mr Zhan Zhi Wei, a 29-year-old office worker at Millenia Tower, said that the situation gets more dangerous after the peak hour rush is over. By the time he can knock off at 8 pm or 9 pm, cars go much faster since there are no jams. "This makes it more dangerous for me. When I come out of the carpark, the safety barriers actually create a blind spot - I cannot see the oncoming cars. Another driver told my paper, "The traffic situation is pretty hairy during peak hours too - when there are jams everywhere and you can't see a thing." "It is a miracle that there has been no accident so far."
