  1. Samsung Galaxy S getting Android 2.2 Froyo update now Posted by Affan on October 15, 2010 Samsung has started rolling out Android 2.2 Froyo update for Samsung Galaxy S worldwide. Some of Galaxy S users in Norway, Denmark and Sweden reported that they have already received the update. Previously Samsung announced that it will be available from mid of October, hitting first European users, followed by Southeast Asia, the Middle East Asia, North America, Africa and rest of the world. All you have to do is wait for it, as Samsung has sold more than 5 million of these devices, so it will take a little time. The Samsung Galaxy S already got hotspot capabilities and 720p video recording, so the key enhancements that it will bring to the device will be improved performance levels on Galaxy S, JIT (Just in Time) compiler and Adobe Flash Player 10.1. The other enhancements include Google Maps with Navigation meaning GPS navigation system with voice guidance, New Android Market with auto-updating, Pinch-to-zoom home screen flyover, improved default keyboard, Video records in MP4 format, New Search widget, Gmail application and Colored icons in settings. The Android 2.2 update is available via Kies (link below), which is Samsung
  2. Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab to compete against the iPad. IMO, i think it looks great and should be better than the iPad. Cannot wait for it to arrive here in SG. http://galaxytab.samsungmobile.com/
  3. Samsung Galaxy Tab In Singtel stores. Disappointing prices. i rather get the ipad. seriously.
  4. Hi, Anyone bought this or something similar ??? Any idea how much is the price ??? Thanks http://www.samsung.com/sg/Navibot/?pid=sg_...avibot_20100831
  5. Hello everyone, Been reading a number of articles on this new smartphone from Samsung, I'm attracted by its screen and open source Android operating system. It runs on Android 2.1 and there might be a possibility of Samsung releasing a Froyo firmware in the near future. Are there any users of this phone here? If so, appreciate some your feedbacks. How does it compare with the iPhone in terms of speed, battery life and user interface? Price wise its slightly cheaper than the 16GB iPhone 3GS. Thanks.
  6. Hi, my frontload Daewoo WM decided to retire over the weekend after 3.5 years. Can't decide whether to go for LG of Samsung for my next washer. LG runs on direct drive while Samsung runs on belt. Need advice....Thanks!
  7. I am kind of surprised that the Galaxy is more expensive than the Desire. I went down to Singtel to ask about it first time 2 days back. The guy quoted me different price, with Desire being a bit higher. The choice then was obvious. But now, according to the IT Show, Desire is $250 and Galaxy is $400. Bot with Singtel's 3G Flexi Plan. So, now I'm wondering, is the extra $150 worth it? Eh......and IT Show too crowded to try out?
  8. hi All was at the samsung store today. tried this model, seems like most value for money however, i have a few concerns which the shop people cant help to clarify 1. Can this phone be connected to laptop and use this phone as a modem to surf web from the laptop ? (assume batt life is not issue) i dont want to keep taking the 3G SIM card in and out of the phone to share between phone and laptop 2. does it hang very often ? 3. is the LCD clear and visible under strong sunlight ? I work outdoors often 4. is the batt life short ? i take about 100 calls a day , spending average 2min per call including surf web and read email thanks in advance !!
  9. as above.. getting it tmr.
  10. Initially, I didn't realize Samsung actually makes car. It was acquired by Renault subsequently and a co-brand exist as Renault Samsung. As known, Nissan is also a Renault's company. Look at this website, their Samsung SM models look like your Nissan Slyphy or even your Teana. So Nissan car also have part French, Japanese and Korean blood in it, interesting. http://www.samsung-motors.com/ Regards,
  11. hi all. i just upgraded my handset to the samsung jet last sunday at the bugis roadshow by the orange colour telco company. the design of the phone really appealed to me and i really like the look of the phone plus the 3.1 inch display, and i was really excited about getting this phone. i absolutely loved it the moment i got hold of it and started checking out everything on the phone. everything was good but the software disappointed me. i tried to use the wi-fi on the phone but there were problems. after connecting to network A, i disconnect and try to connect to network B. sometimes i can, sometimes i cannot connect to network B. when i try to connect back to network A again, i cannot connect. i have to turn the phone off and on again then i can connect to network A. it seems like the moment i try to connect to another network, after that i cannot connect to any network at all. also the phone auto restart itself when i try to view the connection details. brought back to the orange company and they exchanged a new set for me, and the customer officer tested the new phone if there was the same problem, and the problem is still there. he said this probably happens on the samsung jet phones. he said that after this exchange if got any more problems cannot exchange anymore, have to bring to samsung. brought the new set back home, found out there was another problem. this problem only happens when the 'smart unlock' and 'automatic display brightness' settings are turned on. when these are turned on, and i try to unlock the phone, the phone unlocks but the display still remains dim, i was thinking wth, the 'old set' didnt have this problem. brought back to samsung just now, and they took in the phone, say will be ready in 1 or 2 days. ask the customer officer if can exchange, she say they dont do exchange only repair wtf? all in all, i would say everything about this phone (interface, features, touchscreen, looks) is perfect except the software let it down. the orange colour company say so far jet got no problems, means i so suay got the lemon phones, 2 lemon phones somemore? anyone samsung jet or samsung hp users here have any problems with their phones?
  12. As above. From what I gathered, the new Samsung i8910 HD is using the same OS and the differences are 1) HD Video vs Non-HD on N97 2) 8MP Camera vs 5MP 3) Faster Processor Speed 800mhz vs 434Mhz (Evident in this Youtube video: Samsung i8910 vs Nokia 97 Benchmark Test 4) i8910 HD's Capacitive touchscreen vs N97 Resistive touch screen 5) 3.7-inch Brilliant AMOLED display vs N97 3.5-inch 6) i8910 HD is a tad bigger and longer than N97 7) i8910 HD no Qwerty compared to N97 8) 16Gb memory space (able to increase to 32Gb using the micro SD slot) vs 32Gb Finally, a review of the Samsung: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i8910_omni...-review-317.php Price for i8910 HD is unknown yet but I last heard it is going to be cheaper than N97. Feature to feature, it seems like the Samsung i8910 HD can humble the N97. What do you think? Especially, current N97 users, if you manage to get hold and try the i8910. Do provide your feedback compared to your N97?

  17. Omnia has rolled out new firmware, i900DXHJ1, this firmware will resolve the battery killer problem. http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/index.jsp My friend upgrade hers from HH1 to HJ1, tested it for three weeks, and the software is stable. 21. Two days ago, I tried unsuccessfully to connect my Acer laptop to my 40" Samsung LCD TV, which I bought for more than six months ago -- so it's not the latest model. Thinking that the PC input has malfunctioned, I called for warranty service the following morning. To my pleasant surprise, they could attend to me on the next day -- which is today. Good service, I must say! When the guys came and saw my Acer laptop, one of them mentioned to his colleague that they had a similar problem with another customer. Anyway, when they couldn't get my laptop to work on the TV, they used theirs to verify that the PC input was OK -- it was. Upon further prompting, I learnt that it seemed only Acer laptops have this problem with LCD TV. By the way, my laptop is using the ATI Mobility Radeon X700 graphic card. I didn't find out which card the other customer was using. I was too distraught with the finding. Sigh...
  22. Hello guys Considering changing to either one of these phones. Kindly those who own these fones could come in and give some input? Gonna get rid of my over utilised N95 soon. Heard the G810 is symbian based. Used Samsung b4 and hates the OS. But now since this is Symbian, it's somehow similar to the N series. 3 phone shops i went to, all recommended me the G810 to the N82. But I still wanna keep my options open. =] Nokia, simply user friendly. Opinions please? Million thanks!
  23. As above, where to buy the battery at a "reasonable" price, need to replace the one for my mum's handphone. The model is Samsung SGH-X210. My mum loves this phone cos it can display Chinese Character/numbers in a very big font size.
