  1. More drivers have been caught by the Traffic Police for not putting on seat belts or appropriate restraints for children travelling in vehicles. The number has doubled in the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year. This follows changes to seat belt rules in the beginning of the year. Since January, anyone below the height of 1.35 metres needs to be properly secured - either with seat belts, child restraints or booster seat cushions - when travelling in a car. Previously, the seat belt rule applies to children aged eight and below. Police say in the first half of the year, 490 drivers were caught for failing to belt up their young passengers, compared to 220 in the same period last year. Parents say they find it challenging to belt up their children. "You need to offer some incentives, sweets and all sorts of funny things, all the distractions. It actually has its practical issues." "The kids find it uncomfortable but we try to force it onto them. Otherwise, we just don't move off because it is important for them, for their safety." "Of course as a parent, we just need to tell them that this is for their safety. If I'm struggling, if they refuse to put the seat belt on, I just use force to buckle them up. After that, they just cry a little, then it's ok." One psychologist says it's understandable that kids do not like to be restrained, but parents need to think safety first and not give in to their children. Dr Qu Li, Assistant Professor, Division of Psychology, Nanyang Technological University, said: "Parents need to know more about how to deal with the situation and more about safety issues. For example, in Singapore, once in a while, we will see parents putting young children at the front passenger seat, which is not safe at all. Some parents may think this seat is safe, there is an air bag to protect the children. For younger children who are so short, when the air bags blow open, it will completely cover their face. They can't breath. They will die." She said adults need to get creative when teaching kids the importance of belting up. Dr Qu said: "If we just say, bring a textbook, this is rule number 1, number 2, number 3, children of course won't follow it. But if we say, "let's play a game, you're the driver, I'm the passenger, and what we will do." Children can learn very fast. Also I think what they learn during the pre-school years, they will remember. That will also help when they grow up and become teenagers." Police stressed the importance of drivers taking responsibility for their own safety and the safety of their young passengers. Those who flout the seat-belt rules will be fined $120, and given three demerit points. Source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1225638/1/.html
  2. Hi guys, Felt the need to have this documented on the forum because its so hard to find information on the Cupra R parts list. Plus no one on the Internet seems to share the fitting experience even though its possible to find photos of Toledos overseas that have been fitted with the Cupra R bumper and sideskirts. So this is a first step. Here's the complete parts list and price (in Euro) without shipping. The next step for this thread hopefully will be to come with all the fitting photos step by step. 3. Yr input pls? Current car Airwave. Nice leg room.
  4. My current car is having manual seat adjustment. Due to size difference between me and my wife I have to make major adjustments just to be able to get into the car. My wife sits very close to the steering but I need to sit all the way back because of my height. So far I tested cars with electric seat adjustment, they seem quite slow to adjust and have so many adjustment points. Looks like memory function will be very useful. Unfortunately most of the models need to top up to a higher spec or larger engine to get the memory function. Is it worth it? Maybe I should aim for cars with manual adjustment instead?
  5. Seem like all not on seat belt and kana throw out from the car https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn0OaOgkmAc...;has_verified=1
  6. So I was offered this proposition today by a PI since what I am looking for is "quite unusual", so they suggested I do a "direct import". I like Skoda's value and classy (yet not so plain as VW) look as well as the fact that all their sedans are hatchbacks, so I am curious - how feasible, really, is it to bring in a car like that? Wouldn't it be expensive? Wouldn't getting servicing for it be tricky (well, parts can be sourced from VW though)? ... What are your thoughts? ...And while I'm on this line of thought, what about a SEAT (also VW group!)?
  7. Ever boarded a plane to fly off and be confronted with a metal chair and a missing seat cushion? I admit this has never happened to me until our recent experience on Turkish Airlines. We were flying from Singapore to Istanbul and onward to Copenhagen. This was on the Istanbul to Copenhagen leg. We had to take an airport bus to board the plane. It was a nice and sunny morning. We got on board, walked to our seats, and were confronted with a dirty detached seat cushion on a metal seat. Not a great way to start a flight, I reckon. I first alerted a male cabin crew, who didn't seem too surprised. But he disappeared. Really! Then I alerted a female cabin crew, who said she will help sort this out. True enough, she came back within a few minutes with a new cushion and fitted it. Well done! Here is a short video clip of the dirty cushion experience. To be fair, the rest of the flight and also the earlier leg was pretty good. We were on a holiday and headed to Copenhagen. Originally we planned to book SQ for the 4 of us, but the option of Turkish Airlines came along and we could save almost $2K for the 4 of us. So we decided to give Turkish a try. Here are the videos of our experience. At Changi Airport, when we checked in, I was informed by the check-in staff that I could use the SATS Premier Lounge (even though I was flying in Economy) because I was Star Alliance Gold status. Well, I recently turned Star Gold and I don't even have my card yet, so I wasn't expecting this. Anyway, it was great, though I could only bring one guest. At the lounge entrance, I asked nicely if I could bring both my kids and the reception staff kindly agreed. My wife stayed outside though, she went shopping. Later on, I found out that SATS Premier Lounges were also Priority Pass lounges, so we could have used the lounge, albeit for a fee. Here is the video of the lounge, which is used by a good number of airlines. I guess this is called a contract lounge. They had a decent hot food selection, not as good as the SilverKris, but good enough for most. There was the signature laksa, which tasted good. Also they had 3 OSIM massage chairs at one corner. Cool!

  16. Thinking of changing my car seat which I had been using for the last 10 years. It's fabric but really good on hot day Tried pu but don't really like, quality is poor after a few years and tend to glade during corner. This time round, thinking of going semi leather, cow hide. Realized there's many colors to go for, from grey to red, brown, blue, purple etc.. I'm a lazy person who don't maintain my car.. which is the best color that maintainence free? Actually I'm comtemplating between black and red. Red sure looks posh but I'm only driving a small car... As for black, I fear it's difficult to maintain

  20. Two Brits dead after car plunges 1,000ft off Austrian mountain road during organised rally http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/two-brits-dead-after-car-6130423 The 22-year-old driver and his 25-year-old passenger lost control of their Seat Leon before ploughing through a safety barrier in the Alps They were taking part in an organised rally between the Belgian capital Brussels and Hungary’s capital Budapest that started on July 18. Police estimate that they were travelling at speeds of up to 120mph before the accident at around 7.45am today. Specialist crash investigators are examining the scene of the accident for clues as to what happened. At its highest point the road, named as one of the most stunning driving experiences in the world, is 8,215ft above sea level and runs across the base of the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. Although the mountain is a scenic route famed for its spectacular views, it also attracts motorists from all over Europe who are keen to try out the challenging curves and sweeping bends in the road.

  23. Dear Nissan owners! I will be dekitting/export the very rare Primera 2.0 Luxury Sedan soon on 10 days time! This car is super rare... if if you are a Primera Owner and yr car interior is worn out. This is the final chance if you wish to change any parts... My car internal is superbly well maintained! Everything works perfectly! My rims are the "5 nuts 16inch Original rare primera sports rims... Its also in well maintained condition. looks clean and not abused! I believe you can change it to yr Cefiro/teana or any Nissan with 5nuts socket. Lastly I also have the Armron Hilife battery less than 2yrs and last week check, power still 100% best! The battery I believe is compared to many other cars such as Toyotas as my Mark X are using the same. Its pity to dekit with such superb condition. Honestly, I do not have a price in mind, anything you want just quote me, find a place to change/swap. Mostly importantly my car parts are put to good use rather than throwing off to the export/scrap... What a WASTE! So anyone! This is a rare chance, I am a easy going, generous chap, as long as you need it, just give me a reasonable quote you deem and we get it fixed. Final day of this deal will be 18th April... After that... its will be gone.!
