  1. Although Jetta GearBox's negative impression, but its sales figure don't lose "sell like hot cakes" Mazda 3 and Altis
  2. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=11315 honestly 100k? isnt Yen at all time low since 2009 P.s. Lets focus on Vios rather than been carried off with other topics
  3. Sorry, just realized post in the wrong session. Mod, pls delete the thread in http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showto...682392&hl=* Any good place to recommend for aftermarket or original parts?
  4. About 2 decades ago, the term bread and butter car model used to be refering to car with engine capacity of 1.0L or lesser, and mid size family sedan are the Corolla, Sunny, Mazda 323, Civic, Jetta and such. Sub 1.0L rides make up some 12 - 15% of our passenger car population, and proved to be popular for those looking at a simple point A to point B personal transport tool. Some of the hot model include: Suzuki Swift Sedan Suzuki Wagon R Toyota Starlet Nissan March Subaru Justy Subaru Vivio Daihatsu Charade Daihatsu Move Mitsubishi Toppo Town Bee Mitsubishi Pajero Mini Fiat Uno Seat Ibiza Sales of sub 1.0L rides start to fall by the end of 90s / early 2000, due to the ever rising COE premium (and no thanks to the merger of Cat 1 & 2 COE into Cat A in May 1999), as well as the better acceptance of Korean model (Accent, Getz, Atos, Rio, etc.). IIRC, the last 1.0L (non-turbo) model sold in Singapore is the Hyundai Atos, which at it lowest price point, can be had for <S$30K. T.B.C.
  5. Hi to all QQ owners out there! Jus gotten my new ride 2 hrs ago (Qashqai+2)!!! Find that there's no QQ forum in Singapore (been searching everywhere for past 2mths)... So hope to start a thread here to get to know all fellow QQ owners (cos' I personally find that we r a special breed... Those who own a QQ shld know watt I mean). Hope that we can exchange views on our rides and make it an enjoyable time owning this ride. So here goes: 1. Enigma_beng - Qashqai+2 (Nov 10) 2. 3. 4. 5.
  6. Driving a Toyota with COE expiring soon... Have started shopping for a replacement car few months back but to no avail. Have also read postings of some cars shared in this forum. The more I read, the more I'm at a loss. No car seems to have a perfect fit into the so-called "ideal" car. Hence, hope the forumers here could help to shortlist a car that best fits the following criteria: a) From AD only b) Budget - Not more than $160k c) Type - 4-door sedan preferred (will also consider SUV) d) Make - Continental or Japanese e) Capacity - Between 1400cc and 1600cc f) FC - No less than 12 km/ ltr (highway 60% + urban 40%) g) Output - Prefer a powerful sedan (no lag up slope eg. Novena Square/ Ngee Ann City multi-storey car park when fully packed with passengers) h) Reliability which can last for 10 years with no major hiccups like gear box problem, oil leaks, overheating, etc. (normal wear and tear ok) i) Servicing/ maintenance costs (by AD or credible workshops) - Not more than $15k over the 10 years ownership Understand Toyota will be a value-for-money option but this time round, hope to try something different. Certainly appreciate constructive suggestions as I would like to complete the purchase by this year. No flaming please. Thanks lots!
  7. Everything has been improved, except for that quart window at the C-pillar... really spoiled the look.
  8. Just curious... above affordable Jap luxurious sedan I vote Teana
  9. Im looking to switch to a bigger car. Almost buy a 07 mazda 6 that i really like ( superb condition ) but was sold just before i could get rid of my car. Realise all the remaining mazda 6 2007 model in the market all shouting 10k+ depri and realise in that case I could go for a 08 1 sua... short listed a few car and both their depri is between 11-12k range. I feel mazda 6 looks more stylish, the interior also alot of gadget like pedal shifter and cruise control etc. Camry i feel space wise is slightly bigger and also toyota quite well known for reliability. Alot of my friend say get the camry if same depri, as higher resale and less problem. FC should be better as well. However feedback is Im too "young" for this kind of car ( late 20s )but for me isnt an issue. I was wondering if anyone face the same dilemma before? Dont tell me to buy legacy or accord, don't really like at all. I realise for 12k+ depri can even get a audi a3 1.8 or 320, but I think continental at this price should prolly mean trouble lol. Thanks guys
  10. i just changed to a used cs3 - 06 model. the fc is onli 9km/l - is this normal - i am quite heavy footed my full tank is 375 km for 41 litres. cs 3 owners care to share your full tank mileage or what could be wrong, just changed oil, spark plugs and air filter. thank you all. hoping to hit at least 11 km / l
  11. i am thinking to buy a 2nd hand latio or sylphy1.5, from my study, latio is better in fuel consumption, while sylphy is good in interior, but in terms of price, sylphy is much higher than a latio of the same year, i prefer sylphy as i like the external looking also, can someone lighten me is it worth the money? thx.
  12. Dear All, A friend's distant contact trying to sell a Latio. End06 model Latio Sedan. Am wondering if there's any major thing I can do to check if it's good condition as it looks good both exterior and interior... What about Timing belt etc? I asked they said new lah. but how can I tell as worried that it won't be cheap.. If so, when is usually the next change and how much is it? What other major expenses or Crucial stuff I must check or enquire I should consider when I buy a Old Latio? Thanks so much in advance and any advices welcomed as I'm really a first time buyer!!! =)
  13. Hi guys, I am looking for a used sedan with a tight budget. Age should be around 6 to 7 years old. Which one do you guys recommend and what are the reasons?
  14. I am looking at getting a second hand Vios or Jazz. Anyone keen to sell to me or if you know of anyone who need to sell please PM me. Thanks!
  15. Hi all, For a family with husband/wife both working (drive only to & from work) & a maid taking care of 2 young children. During weekend, parents in law usually will get a ride from our car. A new mid size Sedan such as Camry or a full size MPV such as Odyssey will be a better option in terms of practicality, comfort, fuel consumption, costs such as depreciation, resale value, etc? Thank you.
  16. Anyone here still driving a 2006 Cefiro 2.0L? What are the things to look out for? Thanks!
  17. Here is a cool looking 3.5L Altima. http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/december02/ruben_altima/
  18. Yes. No, it isn't a refreshed model. The 7th generation American XV50 Camry was dealt with a head-toe mid-term overhaul by Toyota to counter cynics who actually think that the Japanese automaker's mid-size sedan is a dishwasher on four wheels. Debut now at the New York auto show.
  19. Recently saw a lot of 1 year old IS250 for sale. Anybody know why?
  20. Im considering a few car to change due to family planning as currently driving a SSS manual. Shortlisted a mazda 6 as the design is pretty sweet and also auto so wife can drive. space wise also pretty gd, and impressive boot space. I was wondering any mazda6 driver here? I had shortlisted 1 unit and test drove it. depri is 9k and 1 owner. Tested and feel that car handles and drives well, with no wierd or unusual sound/vibration during the short test. I was wondering if there is anything i should look out for. Its a 5AT gearbox so im not too sure if there is any known problem with it. Coming frm a manual owner, im pretty scare of auto transmission as heard alot of story from frens that gearbox piang etc Would love to hear from fellow mazda 6 owner here. I also shortlisted the lancer ex GT however the depri is more than 10k+ easily, and feedback from my friends is he will pick a mazda 6 anytime because they feel that the depri is too high for a lancer ex.
