  7. New information has emerged further clarifying the supposed Mercedes B-Class AMG we reported yesterday. According to Autocar it will actually be a four-door coupe based on the B-Class platform - not an AMG powered five-door compact MPV. Inspired by the F800 concept, which recently debuted at that Geneva Motor Show, the car (reportedly codenamed C117 EVO) will likely measure less than 4500mm (177 inches) in length. As a modern day successor to the 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II, it will feature bold styling and a luxurious interior. Power will be provided by a supercharged 3.2-liter V6 with approximately 400 bhp (298 kW / 406 PS). Based on the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, which will be introduced on the new CLS 350, the engine will feature a smaller displacement and an electrically-operated pressure wave supercharger. Despite riding on the front-wheel drive MFA platform, which will also be used in the next generation A-Class, the four-door AMG will likely offer all-wheel drive with a rear-biased setup. While nothing is official, a possible launch is slated for 2012 or 2013.
  8. BMW will be cancelling the BMW M3 Sedan when the next generation 3-series, codenamed F30, is released, according to Automobile Magazine. The company will continue to sell the M3 as both a coupe and convertible, with each getting a straight-six 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine producing 450 horsepower (336 kW, 456 PS). In addition, the magazine says that the company will put the 3er Gran Turismo on the market from March 2013. That date coincides with the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The GT will be one of five body styles for the car, including the sedan, wagon, coupe, and convertible, all due out between March 2012 and 2014. A shooting brake variant could also be released down the line. Like the wagon, the GT3 is expected to get a long wheelbase providing more cargo space and legroom. A panoramic sliding glass roof may also be optionally available for both vehicles. For the 3-Series, BMW will use four cylinder petrol and diesel engines that are both more powerful and fuel efficient than previous models. Engines range from 136 horsepower (101 kW, 138 PS) to 252 hp (188 kW, 256 PS).
  9. All 3 cars are selling at around the 125K range, which will you go for ? I think Opel Insignia will be priced out. ( worst since they are not bringing in the sports tourer, which I think looks much better than the sedan) I saw the car, it's good but I dont think good enough as it's priced at 128K.. For practicality, I will go for the Superb 2 estate... For the wow factor, I will go for the passat cc 5 seater. The only thing against the passat cc 5 seater is the fact I would prefer a car more suitable for a family with 2 young child. I think it's still possible, but of course a large sedan or estate version should be better. Also, the passat has omv of around 29K, and the SE told me the cc will be marked up by ~ 5k compared with the 4 seater version. Too much profit margin for them!! and we already know in Europe the difference bet the 5 and 4 seater version is only 100 Euro !! But the passat cc really looks I think the superb 2 estate ( coming in this month ) will be the best value for money. Good spec, practical and looks not too bad but of course the opel insignia sports tourer will win hands down on the look department. So, which will you guys go for?

    Ford Fiesta sedan

Ford is eyeing a share of the B-segment market in Singapore with the upcoming Ford Fiesta sedan. The US automaker actually staged the global reveal of its all-new Fiesta sedan at the 2008 Guangzhou Auto Show, a year after its cousin, the Mazda 2 saloon was launched. The Singapore-bound Fiesta will be sourced from Ford's joint venture production plant with Mazda in Thailand. The boot of the Fiesta sedan appears a bit dumpy, which is a far cry from its sleek frontal facia. The Mazda 2 sedan has a more proportionate rear treatment, complemented by sleek looking lamp combination. However, all is not lost for the the Fiesta. The dashboard mimics the futuristic layout of its hatchback version, which is quite refreshing as compared to the mundane layout of the Vios or City. The interior plastic parts of the Vios/City feels rather hard and let's hope that the Fiesta sedan will be furnished by higher quality materials. I do not have the details of the drivetrain for the Thailand-built Fiesta at the moment but I am secretly hoping to see the 1.6L Ti-VCT on the offer list, like the US market.

  19. Hi all, After some windows shopping and test driving of entry level and larger conti cars, I don't find them necessary more superior in every department. In addition, some of the models that I prefer and is willing to spend are 10 years old model. Even one is rumoured to be taken over by the China car manufacturer. It looks like I'm back to the Japanese executive car market again. I wanted bigger space and decent performance. Still prefer NA than TC though NA heavier on road tax. The below are what I've gathered: For Performance: Approximately Honda Accord/Inspire IL-4, 2354cc > 180bhp/6500, 220 Nm/4300, 1550 kg Mazda 6 IL-4, 2488cc > 169bhp/6500, 220 Nm/4000, 1430 Kg Nissan Teana V6, 2496cc > 182bhp/6000, 220 Nm/4400, 1531 Kg Toyota Camry IL-4, 2362cc > 167bhp/6000, 220 Nm/4000, 1540 Kg For Dimension: Honda Accord/Inspire > 4945L X 1475H X 1845W. Wheelbase is 2800. Mazda 6 > 4720L X 1440H X 1785W. Wheelbase is 2725. Nissan Teana > 4850L X 1485H X 1795W. Wheelbase is 2775. Toyota Camry > 4825L X 1470H X 1820W. Wheelbase is 2775. Their turning radius are about the same. My personal feel in brief: a) Handling and driving dynamism. Accord and Mazda 6 are both competent. Both have double wishbones suspension. Lower profile and bigger set of tyres help them too. b) Road noise level and comfort. Teana is clear winner. But Accord is not too far behind. Anyway, I don't like soft seats. c) interior refinement, including equipment level and features. Still like the clean and sharp Honda Design but equipment level not as high. Mazda 6 is also hype. d) power delivery, especially from 100Km/h to 140Km/h. Honda still excel. I like the paddle shift but missing the S mode. Teana CVT is rough at higher speed but delivery is smooth from pick-up. The others are just softer in power delivery. e) Driver at this class, generally is not concern about availability of accessories, including aftermarkets ARB, struct bars and etc. Honda and Mazda should have no issue if want to do legal modification. f) Fuel consumption. Can't tell. This one really need input from the existing owner. I'm hopping to get 10Km/l. g) The look. Again subjective. I would say Mazda 6 is a winner but it has the smallest cabin size among the rest here. Accord is let down by the frontal look but can be rectified with aftermarket front grille. For Camry and Teana is a matter of like it or hate it. The best combination would be Mazda look with Accord size and performance . Anyway. if no clear winner then have to sit back and wait for new facelift or new model to come in. Hopefully by then have promising conti model at good price . The next in line, should be the "look long" Skoda Superb. Thank you very much for any input. Regards,
