  1. http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...st=1474361#last one word...weird.
  2. It's got 5 cylinders and I think 2500cc ??? Saw some on the road during the 90's. Think it's one class higher than the Accord///but I can't seem to remember the model. Can anybody help ? Thanks in advance
  3. my friend wants to upgrade his existing ride(Hyundai Matrix 1.8) to 2.0L Japan Sedan, running 2k+ km/monthly, doesn't want Korean car again duo to FC Overall Quality, engine, comfortable, FC, interior/exterior, price etc. IYO, which one is more valuable to buy
  4. After the Administrator "hung" up my thread, I tried to post this in the classified but got a funny message that the section is only for members. Strange ! I am already logged in. Don't know why ! Anyway, here is the picture of the rack for those who are interested. CBX

    New Aveo Sedan

Need some advise, especially if u are a new Aveo sedan owner like me. 1) My Aveo sedan (Auto) just clocked 1200km only, but the FC is just 8.5km/ltr. 2) There is a noise that comes on especially when moving off from stationery/pick up. Funny this nosie is not there when u off the aircon. dont know how to classific it - as engine noise or aircon noise or accerator noise ? Not sure if normal , ever tried to drive with aircon off then half way turn on the aircon. straight away will feel that as if some weight have been added to the car. Really slow pickup, but if off aircon then got power. Is the engine too weak & overwork by aircon ? I dun think test car got this noise. I fetch my wife's colleague once & she commented that hey got noise hor (no face, new car leh) Cos I was at the workshop for 1st 1k inspection, dont even know how to tell the service guy. Just ask is it normal the engine a bit noisy, so after service he say normal. Thanks for any comments.
  6. I am looking at either the Aveo5 or the new Aveo sedan. Test drive both (auto gear) at AM and now thinking which one to get. The price is diff by 2k (44988 - Aveo5, 46988 - Sedan). Both interior looks ok to me but not sure shd pump in extra the 2k for the new sedan that comes with a boot and new interior/exterior design. But on the value for money issue, the Aveo5 seem to better in terms of $$ value. Can bros here help to comment before i decide which one to get? Thanks thanks.....
  7. http://www.chevroletsk.com/models/aveo_4d/t0_index_0.htm very handsome, smart looking small car with grown up look. First saw this in this month's Motoring Magazine. The Interior has improved leaps and bound over the current one which is hard and plasticky. Looks pretty much European. Right into Kia Rio, Vios, Verna's Turf. From the look of it now, it is best looking among them.
  8. Hi Bros, I'm considering the above choices, both manual versions. Estate ($51k) cost about $2k more than the Sedan ($49k). Differences: 1. Estate has bigger boot space. 2. Estate is better aerodynamically (according to Genie's post in another thread). But does it relate to better FC? 3. Estate does not come with Air Bags while Sedan comes with one Air Bag. 4. Acceleration figure are the same but how can it be possible with the additional weight of the Estate. 5. Sedan looks better than the Estate (subjective). really need some advice on which one to get considering the price and the above differences. The reason for starting this thread is becos the other Optra or Optra Estates threads has too much OT. Please keep this thread clean. Thanks in advance.
  9. OK just now for lunch I test drove the Aveo sedan at AM along Bt Timah next to Pasta Fresca. The new one. I drove the manual. Initial impressions are that it is a different creature from the one I have. Same powerplant but somehow feels different. There seems to be more torque available on 1st and 2nd gear. Suspension feels like it has been tweaked for comfort. Over humps, like a 1.6L car's ride. Better than my current one. The gear shifting is rather notchy now, very Toyota or Mitsubishi. Much better than the vague rubbery feel one I have. Pedal feel is very soft. My old one is slightly harder. Steering is rather precise since it is a small car actually. Lighter touch which is in fact very Japanese. NVH is good as usual. The built-in ICE unit might spell trouble for those who like ICE upgrades. Also will mean have to go back to dealers for repairs. Interior doesn't look cheap. In fact, looks downright European/Conti. No fake wood! It has nice chrome accents everywhere. Subtle but not ostentatious. Chrome interior door handles and chrome handbrake release button. HVAC vents are very nicely designed and flushed. Instrument dials are very Optra. The cup holder if that matters to you is very stylish compared to the utilitarian looking one I have. The car is now both longer and wider and taller. You can feel it just sitting in there. I hope the roof is sound insulated well. There wasn't any rain to test the "attap zinc roof" effect which I have in mine. Side mirror adjustments have improved somewhat. No more handomatic for the driver side. Both are adjusted electrically. Steering wheel is now tilt adjustable and you can recognize it is the US standard airbag version. Boot release is now situated on the corner of the driver side speaker away from the fuel port release which is right and under the driver's seat. A better situation than the old one I have with both the release at the same area (under and right of driver's seat). Usually I mistakenly pop open one or the other. Key remote is factory fitted standard with boot release button just like the Optra. It is also armed with a immobilizer. Boot space is a little different. The old one is taller. The new one has the impression that it is somewhat the same depth maybe deeper but is lower in height. Rear seats have ISOFIX points but I do wish they have the US LATCH system instead with top tether anchors. This is a no brainer. ISOFIX child restraints costs so much more and are damn hard to find compared to the US LATCH versions here. OK as you all know it is packed with an airbag and 4 channel ABS with EBD. Impressive safety equipment specs. Well, that is when you realize it achieved a EuroNCAP with strikethroughs. Well that is up to you to decide if that means a lot to you. I mean for 45-48k with all those equipment. Its hard to beat. Engine! Same 1.4L DOHC powerplant. Layout is the same but the engine bay has more space (to accomodate the 1.6L in the US version). I checked, it has the octane selector relay. You can make the car accept lower grade petrol if you desire. Just plug it out. Finally, herd your kids into the bedroom as you hear my gripe. I went there and parked at this vacated lot next to the AEG store. A light green Colt parked behind me and I can't back out. At first I though nevermind, space is hard to come by. Must be a store owner. I'm a customer just coming to check out a car. When came the time for me to leave, I asked around who the car belongs to. The AEG store owner came last choice. Some guy walking buy told me with a somewhat frumpy look that it belongs to a store owner ask around. Finally I entered the AEG store and some old suffering from menopause lady scolded me for taking up the space. Claiming that she can't have her loading truck come here yada yada yada. Told me "next time don't park there". I was fuming mad. I said, "Next time? There won't be a next time! I seldom come here and I am a customer of one of these shops! If you like to have you own lot, say so and reserve it! You can have your lot back F*CKIN' B*TCH!" So I encourage you all to go test drive the Aveo not just because it is an Aveo. Go there and park beside the AEG store and screw the F*CKIN' MENOPAUSAL B*TCH!
  10. Anybody knows performance of the car such as build quality, FC and other good/bad point? The outlook is good, price is 50k+.
  11. Anyone knows where besides J.B. to do it? I've tried asking www.sgbodykit.com but they don't have it. Solomon Bros. quoted me $1k+ for kit+install+spray!

  14. Hi, i currently drive a honda civic ( 4 yrs + ), and is very much interested in getting the new Ford Focus 2005 Sedan (76.9K basic) with full bodykit, 17" low profile tyre, rim etc (another 5K). My honda civic is registered in March 2001 (manufactured in 2000), well maintained (full service by Honda according to schedule), with leather seat/sports rim. The trade in value given is only 45K. Comments, suggestions relating to the above will be much appreciated before i made a decision by this weekend. Also, how much "discount" you think i can bargain for the purchase of Ford Focus? What color would you recommend? Would you think the 17" tyre/rim would affect much on the performance of the car? http://www.fordfocus.com.sg/ http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/focus/ind...?section=COLORS http://www.forddesktops.com/browse.asp?f=focus Thanks.
  15. Any bro / sis who is getting new Aveo ride and is considering whether to upgrade the stock 13" rims to SA's 14" so-called sports rims, please re-consider. The $700 upgrade can get you much better and larger rims outside. After using my stock rims for 2 months, I upgraded them to 15" OZ Racing rims (which a previous new Mit Lancer traded them in) plus 2nd hand (but still in v.good con) 195/50/R15 BFG sport tyres. I agree with Lukie...huge difference in driving with larger rims. I can now hug the corners better and at a slightly higher speed. Plus my Aveo looks more 'chio' now! [inline "13in stock rims.jpg"][inline "15in OZ Superturismo.jpg"] Now...how can I make the car sit lower so that the wheels are closer to the fender...
  16. The front looks a bit disappointing.
  17. Hi to all potential Aveo Buyers, You must be thinking of buying Aveo? You must be thinking of getting a Manual Version. My ride is about 1 year old and it is Manual. If you wanna have my ride for at least one month to test drive and get the feel of owning a Chevy Aveo. This is the best chance for you to get a feel of the car before you commit to a new car at StarAutos. I am looking at a monthly rate that will be sufficient to cover the monthly instalment, the insurance and the road tax for the months you are using the car. Plus 100 dollars/mth for my loss of use. Minimum period will be for one month. Write me an email and provide me with your contact details. Utimately, if you are keen on getting an AVEO, I can recommend my Sales Agent to you, who can offer you more value for money and good after sales service.
  18. Hi, I am looking for a KIA Cerato sedan for rent for about a month. willng to pay good money.. Pls PM me..
  19. StarAuto begins to sell its new facelift for Optra Sedan this weekend. So far, can only see the difference in the front grille and the audio controls on the steering wheel. Waiting for magazine/newspaper to review the facelift and hopefully buyer get more than what they have for Aveo 5 facelift.
  20. Hi, juz wanna get some opinions ... Would you wait for Aevo sedan face-lift to Aveo5 look? I'm booking a Aveo sedan but SE is mentioning that the new Aevo sedan with Aevo5 face-lift will be arriving S'pore in Sep 05. Should i wait?

  23. Hi All, This is my first post so please be kind to me. Have been reading some wonderful insights on chevy cars for months. And I have to admit that I learned quite a bit from all the seniors here. The reason for reading the posts here is because I am now 'seriously' considering buying the Aveo 1.4 (A) Sedan. This will be my first car if I do decide to purchase it, so kind of scare that I made the wrong decision. This is not exactly a small commitment so any help is greatly appreciated. The advises I seek are from Aveo (Sedan/Hatchback) owners in particular cause you are driving the car daily. I welcome all Chevy owners as well - What are the common problems you are currently facing with Aveo if any? noisy air con? - If given another chance, would you choose back the same car? If not, why? - I understand that Chevy is still consider new in Singapore but anyone here who own the Aveo for more than 2 years? If so, in your personal opinion, do you think the engine is good enough to last 10 years? - It is adviseable to get the basic model and upgrade later since most of the upgrade can be done cheaper elsewhere and you will get better quality e.g rims and type etc? - Lastly, can anyone share with me that it is not the end of the world if I don't get a Toyota cause almost everyone told me that it have better FC, car engine blah blah blah .... Thanks in advance!
