Was curious what the current new car prices are after the recent COE bidding....went to check out a few dealer websites (mazda, honda, subaru, etc)....then realised tat there are no longer any 1.5L Subaru Impreza listed ! Is it becos the profit margin is too thin and they think nobody in sg is willing to pay for the underpowered car?

  8. I sincerely hope this is a hoax. The latest craze in China is selling little plastic key chains with live animals like fishes sealed in them. STOMPer freewilly thinks that this is inhumane and qualifies as animal abuse. The STOMPer says: "These key chains are sold at train stations. "The water in the key chain supposedly contains 'nutrients' that will keep the animals alive for a month or longer. "There's a rumour going around that after the animals die, the carcass is heated up in the microwave for 15 seconds and is enjoyed with an ice cold beer. "These people selling the key chains are not in the right mind."
  9. I am interested in buying a second hand one. But those on sgcarmart on relatively new and hence too expensive. Looking for something that is around 2 years old.
  10. MORE taxis were sold than any other car make in the first two months of the year, making them the hottest cars so far, according to a Straits Times report this week, From January to February, 901 taxis were registered, taking 17.4 per cent of the pie. In contrast, 745 Toyotas (14.4 per cent) were registered. Volkswagen came in third with 651 cars (12.6 per cent) while BMW and Mercedes-Benz wrapped up the top 5 with 576 cars (11.2 per cent) and 522 cars (10.1 per cent) respectively, the report stated. The rest of the top 10 sellers, made up of brands such as Porsche and Audi, had about less than 300 cars each registered on the road, the report said. According to the report, the car market shrank by more than half to 5,164 units as a reduction in COE supply slowed car dereigstrations. And the trend might continue for the rest of the year according to industry players, the report stated. What is Singapore's No 1 selling car?

  12. I don't know much about the COE allocation method. Is this the reason why people say that there's still 'market support' for the high COE prices? Any bros know? Mar 18, 2011 IN THE ST NEWSPAPER TODAY Taxis are best-selling cars on the road Cabs take 17.4% of market as motor traders face shrinking supply of COEs By Christopher Tan, Senior Correspondent In the first two months of the year, 901 taxis were registered, with Hyundai cabs like this one making up the bulk. -- ST PHOTO: NG SOR LUAN THE best-selling cars so far this year are not Toyotas, Mercs or Volkswagens. They are taxis. The cab cohort has emerged as the biggest-selling in the first two months of the year, an anomaly that some observers say could prevail for the rest of the year as taxi companies outbid motor traders in a shrinking market for certificates of entitlement (COEs).

  14. Hi guys, am considering whether to change car at this time. is it the right moment ? interested in getting a second hand car from the market. but not too sure of calculations wise so am hoping some bros or sis could help. my current car is on 7 years loan and i'm completed with about 30months. so there's about 54months to go. my monthly installment is about $450 = $13500. Now i'm comparing in sgcarmart a similar car can fetch about $32,000. I'm left with outstanding about $25000. does it mean if i sell my car now, i get back about $7000 ? does it work this way or does it not ? or am i supposed to be looking at around $25000 as the dealer would be earning instead ?

  18. I am not sure if the figures are true, the Mercedes E class is the top selling model in Singapore. E class - 1991 Toyota Altus - 1894 Kia cerato - 1688 BMW 5 series - 1591 I believe Singapore is the only country in the world where the top selling model is the E class. I alway have the impression that there are more C class on the road but I am wrong.

  24. Guys, I have agreed verbally to sell my car to a used car agent. He did not agree to place a deposit and ask me to sign on his company form saying "I will sell at xxx price and if I not, I have to pay 20% of price as penalty". And there was no clause about any obligation on the buyers part. Naturally I refused to sign. So the plan is to go down to his company office on Monday and sign that form so that they can prepare the cashiers order. The company is a big company so "looks" reputable. Question is izzit allright that I sign on the company form? I afraid once they lock you into the form, they chu pattern and give you problem because the form is really an "unfair" contract. But I guess it is normal for a big company to require you to sign on some form before they can ask the finance dept to prepare the cashiers order right? Selling to agent, I guess payment should be in cashier's order and not cash right? Maybe I should just sell direct to buyers and follow the procedure in sgcarmart. Collect deposit, give invoice. Meet at LTA, give cash, transfer car. Newbie is selling car...
