  1. I have a simple no sound from my lenovo laptop speakers issue. I got their "premium care" so it is on site warranty. Two appointments already still cannot fix. Keep getting my address wrong for appointments. Really one of the worst service I have seen... I use to use Dell and it was not so bad... Never again going to buy lenovo.... Have anyone tried other laptop brands servicing? HP?
  2. From http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2010/11/09/...agebusinessnews I've always been uncomfortable in A380s - they simply don't seem very stable, especially in turbulence. Now with the engine faults, I have no confidence at all.
  3. i was in technical line as senior engineer, ok pay is not dat gd. but life is stable come 9am knock off 530pm. got once a yr idle trip to europe by company. then i think perhpas it is time for me to try management but current no management positions la so decide venture into civil service. the current company also not expanding in my area of work and i feel most of time not doing much or learning much, becoming very lazy. oh by the way tis company i joined since graduate for nearly 6 yrs. then there was advert for assistant director. looks damn big but not much salary increment. i got the position after 1 interview mmm...very suspicious but it was willing to wait 2mth notice. best thing is during interview they did not even say what they do. The contract offer say 1 yr contract as with all civil service and convert to perm 1 yr later if good. it is big if in fact it belong to small instituiton inside a big 'umbrella' statboard, so dificult to get info on it. i report to lady supervisor. 1st day work the director already yelling away. then from there it is down hill. the director will yell and criticise everybody in morning and run the institution like a stock exchange. he will say thing like 'give this guy the work la, he is paid $xxxx' i spoke up and the directordislike me from there on. my lady sup is so scared she will pressure me to details correcting my punctuations and spelling , grammar which i felt is totally humiliating. she dun know anything so she will major on the minor things. very sianz... needless to say after 1 yr they decide not renew my contract. so i jobless. they did not even forewarn me or even give me warnings as such , just say contratc not renew 1 month prior to end of contract and justify with lousy reasons. this even cause me to lost a job offer in between the 1 yr tenure even though lower paid as i tot i had a future in tis govt insititution, had i known i would have hop off. tis event happen few yrs ago, last i heard this stupid director was asked to step down before his retirement age due to too many complains against him liao. but still it made a mess of my life. as i think back, would i have make a different decision? i mean life is very very stale at the 1st company, but nice colleagues, ok boss but not learning much or doing much, and a management position came along....how i know it was like a 'trap' anyway manage to pick myself up and went back to technical line but was arduous journey ut dats another story.... thing is would u choose stability and monotony over change, risk taking, possible failure?
  4. Hi guys, Just wanna recommend a pretty good car wash service in Sin Ming area. For $15, you get the following : 1. Proper car wash using Sonax shampoo 2. Vacuum 3. Tire Shine 4. Finish of with Sonax 3-in-1 mirror shine Compared to those petrol kiosk manual wash, i will definitely go for this as u're only paying $3 more. I do wash my ride frequently on my own (weekly), but usually dont wash my rims cuz i using no-rinse wash. So this is a good alternative to complement my weekly/monthly car maintainance. Disclaimer : I've completely NOT RELATED in anyway to the service provider. Those interested can pm me for the address.
  5. I am considering the new SEAT Ibiza, 1.5 EcoTSI DSG Stype Plus (A). It comes with 1-litre 3 cylinder engine, and generates 114 bhp. I have not yet test driven it, but I do like the interior design. The 8-inch infotainment comes with Apple Carplay & Android Auto. There is enough room in the back for 2 adults. The fit and finish while not luxurious is way better than my current 2013 Suzuki Swift Sport. The car review (on most car websites( are generally positive), and I do prefer small/medium hatchbacks. Good seating position and good visibility, coupled with good safety features. I have some concerns/doubts about SEAT's after-sales service. Some of the threads in other forums mentioned that the service engineers are not professional and not well trained. Do you have any experience with their after-sales service and reliability? I am also concern about SEAT's reliability - it comes with only 3-year warranty. Thank you in advance, Naresh.
  6. just wanted to share my bad experience with the Touch n go service office (at Jalan Lingkaran Dalam) this morning... Situation: I had a touch and go card that was purchased many many years ago.... with reduced amount of balance in card, so need to do a top up.... Process / procedure : Used to do top up at the woodlands checkpoint (malaysia customs) , but they have discontinued and told us to go to any shell station to do top up I had to drive to nearest JB shell station to do top up, but was told that the card expired... so need to go nearest Touch n Go office to renew or top up Experience when my wife reaches there (Touch n go ), the staff (claimed her name is farah) was very rude and made things difficult and insist the registered card owner must be present ... so she had to ask me to go in when I went in, the staff ask some silly questions on the card... such as how much we normally top up and where do we top up (like they are collecting data for a customer expenditure survey).... we gave the information and told her al these should be available in their system The staff was unhappy and tried to be more difficult by asking the next ridiculous question, .. asked if we had use this touch n go to pay car park... My answer is I pay almost all my carpark fees through cash ... my recollection is i use this card as per the original intent which is meant for toll fee and customs payment and I don't use this card or even associate this card for any car park payment.... she turned around and said.. okay then data mismatch... validation failed... you need to go register again Her logic seemed like... one could be using the card for a 1000 or million times for toll payment but if there is 1 car park payment (dunno where/when) and you are unable to tell me there is , then this is treated as data unable to be validated wow... I have not chanced upon a more sophisticated data processing intelligent brain or organisation that develop such a system of inflexibility or obstipation .. i was shocked.... what sort fo data is mismatched? i asked, i am the owner of the card.... with a long span of the years using the card... who can recalled every small transactions throughout the years and if 1 data is not matched, the staff conclude that it is data mismatched?.... .. and this is all happening just to be able to top up a cashcard My Aftershocked experience firstly, the staff is unprofessional......just applying her personal biasness and discriminate against individuals and decision is based on her whims and fancy... secondly, the so called validation data process is a joke..... who can remember every steps /amount the card has been top up... just a general answer aligned with what she wants to hear is considered validated... and another general answer not aligned to what she wants to hear is invalidated there is also no consistency in the validation process... if validation is needed for a top up cashcard (not sure it is needed, overkill), then please do it properly with consistency and had a good basis for the answers (establish how certain slight deviations are acceptable) for example she ask what was top up, we answer vaguely like RM 100-200.... but actually there were other higher or lower denominations as well... but she can accept those as validated.. when she asked if the card is use for paying carpark... I told her, so far, my recollection is mainly for road toll tee and the VEP customs payment as its original intend, many carparks that i go to doesn't have this touch n go payment option ... i pay cash for those... yes ..many car parks have since implemented to accept touch and go, doesn't means i have changed my way of paying carpark.. maybe a single occurrence or so With the system data in front of her, she should be able to look at the overall data .. perhaps 99.9% of times, I am paying as tolling fee and maybe 0.1% of the total is used to pay carpark such as a particular instance... if so, what is the basis of saying the data is invalid then there is another staff (presuming the office manager or the manager in charge), he warned me to stop recording the whole episode and also wanted to stop me from taking a photo of the Touch n go's Refund Notice printout where it has office contact number for me to write to complaint. He also asked the to delete the video Again ridiculous request, I asked where in that office was it stated we are not allow to take video and why is is not allow to take a photo of the contact information of that notice for me to send my complaint to ? anyway those are the proof of how bad service provider they are ... deletion would be a waste Looking back, the validation process redundant and irrelevant... might as well ask everyone to register new one and not waste time talking to bunch of crowns I don't know what else to say... the company should consider replacing those unprofessional staff or improve the process or leave it as it is (which will be probably what they will do)

  8. I have an XBox One S purchased in a bundle with a laptop over a year ago, and played infrequently by my kids. Recently, I was unable to turn it on. I have searched the net and this seems to be a common occurrence, with the only official help from Microsoft being 'unplug it for 10 seconds and then plug in again'. Not having any other choice, I tried to apply for a service request on the Microsoft website, and was presented with only one option - Pay SGD 190 for an exchange. So...for a common fault, the only option is to pay more than 50% of the street price for a replacement unit? Does anyone here have any experience with this fault, and know of someplace else where this can be serviced? Honestly, had I known of the appalling service terms, I would never have bought an XBox. I don't think I will ever buy one again.
  9. Hi, know of any shop or person doing very simple dink / dimple removal? Probably hit by inconsiderate passenger or perhaps a child carelessly opening the rear door of adjacent parked vehicle. Pls share contact details here or via PM. Thanks.
  10. with the ramp up in bus services and number of buses, hopefully this can be part of the redundancy for people in case MRT breaks down... Billion-dollar Bus Service Enhancement Programme completed with 1,000th bus added to fleet http://www.todayonline.com/singapore/billion-dollar-bus-service-enhancement-programme-completed-1000th-bus-added-fleet "SINGAPORE — The government’s billion-dollar Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) that was rolled out in 2012 to tackle bus congestion and long waiting times has wrapped up, as the 1,000th government-funded bus and 80th new bus service planned under the initiative hit the road. The five-year effort translated to a ramping up of bus capacity for about 70 per cent of bus services – or 218 out of 309 basic services – either through the deployment of higher capacity buses or the operation of more frequent bus trips, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Saturday (Dec 6)."
  11. Car dealers to remove warranty restrictions to allow independent workshops to compete http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/car-dealers-to-remove-warranty-restrictions-to-allow-independent-9488024 SINGAPORE: Major car dealers have agreed to remove restrictions on warranties and related documents, announced the Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS) on Monday (Dec 11). The commission said this in a press release after concluding its inquiry into the supply of car parts in Singapore. The inquiry was carried out to better understand how the operations of the car parts market and the effects of market features of competition, CCS said. In its findings, CCS said it was concerned about dealers requiring customers to service or repair their vehicles exclusively at the respective dealers' authorised workshops, to ensure that the warranty remains valid. The restrictions allowed dealers to void warranties if the car had been service or repaired previously at an independent workshop. CCS said such restrictions deterred car owners from using independent workshops and thus the ability to compete effectively with authorised workshops. "To address this, CCS has raised its concerns with the major car dealers and have worked with them to remove the warranty restrictions from their car warranties and related documents," the commission said in the press release. Advertisement All major car dealers have agreed to make the relevant changes to the warranty terms by CCS, it said. All agreed changes to the warranty terms for exsiting warranties and new warranties will be implemented by Dec 31. Another finding by CCS was that importation and wholesale distribution of car parts are generally competitive. Car parts can be obtained from a large number of suppliers located in Singapore and overseas, the commission said. While there is limited supply for parts which are replaced infrequently or that belong to niche models, CCS said this is due to the small number of buyers and sellers in the market. CCS also found that technical information, equipment and diagnostic tools are generally available. This is despite car manufacturers and their authorised car dealers not supplying such inputs to independent workshops. "This is because independent workshops are generally able to gain access to viable alternatives such as those supplied by third-party equipment suppliers," said CCS.
  12. I was at a service outlet ( not to be mentioned ) and while leisurely sipping my coffee, the mechanic walks to a man beside me and told him he should perform engine flush because his mileage is time for him to do engine flushing. So the man asked for the price of engine flushing and then verbally agree to let the mechanic proceed with the additional work done. Before I can finish my coffee, the mechanic walks back to the man again. He then mentioned that the spark plug not so good. He suggest change all since doing engine flushing. The man ask for the price again. The man realise it is a bit expensive so he is a little rejecting the offer. The mechanic immediately assure the man not to worry as he will ask the shop boss for discount. Came back shortly and say the management agree to give discount on the spark plugs for $xx amount. Hearing that there is discounted price, the man agrees again. OK I don't wish to stereotype people out here, but the car is just beside you, you should stand up, demand to see the condition of the spark plug, judge for yourself if it is rightful to change. However all this while, that man's butt was stuck to the seat. He never took a blink of an eye to look at his car, nor ask for more detail opinion. He readily accepts. Engine flushing, whether it is legit or snake oil, you should also judge. But looking at the man's reaction from the proposal, he seems to be nullified of his knowledge of cars, even basic servicing. He would listen to what the mechanics says. His only concern is price. That is no way you should even offer your car to a service outlet or workshop to take your hard earned money. Sometimes ignorant is bliss. But when comes to ignorance of basic car care, it is blitz.

  14. For those who buy and ship from USA, I have ordered from vpost, borderlinx. Now I try comgateway and it's absolutely the worst. My 1.6kg item was charged 4.5kg volumetric weight (understandable as others also use vol weight). The charge amounts to USD40. Now their shipment is the worst. Item received by them on 22 Sep. I paid and was charged. Website say it is shipping on 26 Sep. It's 4 days passed and nothing has happened. Whoever says comgateway is good, might want to think again. Borderlinx has probably the best service, if you can find promo code, it helps defray the cost. Vpost is improving. Sometimes you get 10% off, but you need to the front page for credit card promo. Never have I such a bad experience as with comgateway. Comgateway is just...

  16. Hi all, I do not know where to post this but can anyone advise me on a reliable VW workshop in Singapore for servicing other than authorised agent? I have a used 2010 Passat CC and thought maybe I should send it for servicing now. How often must the 6 speed DSG gearbox be serviced? Will be good if anyone can share any good parts/brands such as engine oil, filters, etc. for the servicing.
  17. https://www.cccs.gov.sg/media-and-publications/media-releases/major-car-dealers-amend-warranty-terms are you using independent workshops for servicing your car within warranty period, instead of going back to agent workshop ?
  18. show of hands .... how many can accept bad service/attitude if the food is good or average ?

  20. An article by Chen Show Mao:- SERVICE: THE ROLE OF GOVERNMENT Now, let me talk about service as a role of the government. As I see it, our government's central task to serve Singaporeans. You may say, "Yes, of course." But I am not sure if we always remember to use that yardstick to measure the success of our government policies. To me service means putting at the center of things the object of our service. The question is simple, it is a matter of perspective, who will be at the center of things, that is all. Is it the people of Singapore, or some measure of gross development or growth, that has over time been taken as a proxy for what's good for Singapore. For instance, when the economy grew by 14%, as it did last year, but median household income grew only 3%, or 0% after you adjust for inflation, then we need to ask "who is all this growth for?" Who is at the center of all this economic growth if most Singaporean households barely kept pace? I have come to meet many more Singaporeans in this situation since my return. It has got to be: all this economic growth will go to benefit MOST Singaporeans, in the long run if not necessarily in the short run. But is that the case? SERVANT LEADERSHIP In his National Day dinner speech in Ang Mo Kio, the Prime Minister said that we've got to

  23. Hi, Everyone knows that we could have huge saving on regular car servicing and or maintenance job in JB, but i know not many drivers are taking the risk. So what is your concern? 1. not familiar with the route to the workshop? 2. not familiar with the local charges for the repair job? 3. not familiar with the mechanic in the workshop there? 4. not sure if the replacement parts used is original? 5. and many many concerns... would you opt for sending your car to JB for repairs if you found a trustworthy workshop that could answer your concerns?

  25. Changed an alternator pulley with them some time in May. The mechanic used brute force to try to remove the old alternator pulley causing the tool bit to break off inside the alternator (i kept quiet since he mentioned no impact on alternator, being gullible i accepted) Next he installed a wrong sized alternator pulley cause the alternator to smoke and subsequently jam. More waiting time for correct sized alternator pulley to be installed ( i did not know at that time that could have cause issues with the alternator) About one month later, i encountered alternator failure and towed the vehicle back to them, they told me alternator needs to be replaced ( and charged me $90++ just for diagnostic fees) , Because my car is still under warranty with another workshop and alternator is covered under warranty i decided to tow back to my warranty workshop instead. At my warranty workshop, they told me the cause of the alternator failure was due to the wrong method and wrong sized alternator pulley used by M*M Wheelp0wer, and because i allowed other workshop to service my car, i could not claim warranty and had to cough up cash. When i tried to claim back the amount from M*M Wheelp0wer and request 70% damages instead of the 50% they offered, they told me ...sorry ...now one cent also wont give you cause not our fault. ( you can flame me for not accepting the 50%, but the thing is i REQUESTED not demanded 70% instead) You have been warned regarding this workshop who is also a SGMERC forum sponsor, it seems to me their reputation is worth less than the amount they could have reimbursed me.
