  3. Hi, My car is 3years old. I have used up all the servicing credits from C&C. Is there any Kia K3 owner that send their rides for major/normal servicing out of C&C that can bring our own engine oil? Need some recommendation. Thanks
  4. Is it a myth to change engine oil every six months? Recently, I have received a message from my buddy and asking if it is a myth to change engine oil every six month? So some of you might be wondering, during this covid-19 period, my car mileage is not maximised until 10K, and do I still need to do an engine oil change? The dangers of not changing your oil Oil will break down over time due to high temperatures in the engine (known as thermal breakdown). Because of this, the oil isn’t capable of providing the necessary lubrication for metal parts after an extended period of use. Without lubrication, the moving joints in the engine will start rubbing against each other and cause premature wear. Oil also has a limited capacity on how much particulates it can hold. By not changing the oil, particles already in the oil will begin to settle and cause corrosion. One of the biggest dangers of not changing your oil is sludge buildup. Sludge occurs when old oil begins to gel or solidify in an engine. When sludge begins to build up, oil isn’t able to flow freely through the engine and can cause oil starvation to crankshafts, bearings, camshafts, and other valve train components not be lubricated. In time, this can cause major damage to the engine and, in the worst situations, require an engine replacement or rebuild. Choose Motul H-Tech 100 during this period! If you are one of the drivers who have a significant change in your lifestyle recently, you have been wfh more often, you can consider the Motul H-Tech 100 series. It comes in a lot of viscosity to suits your car requirement. And It provide excellent fuel-economy and engine protection. 5W30 Plus 0W-20 Plus 10W-40 10W-40 Plus 5W-30 Prime 5W-40 Plus 0W40 If you have been experiencing sluggish performance from your car lately, you can also consider Motul Engine Clean. 6. Hi guys, I am taking over my FIL's Wish (2008) and extending the COE for another 10 years. This coming Dec, his COE will be expired and I am extending it on Nov. Due to the reason of his car a OPC, his mileage is about 70K Dec 08. His car is in very good condition and that the reason for me to extend the COE. What is the thing i will need to look out for? Currently i have a aircon issue whereby the aircon will not be cold when ever the engine is on idling. any help?
  7. In an unprecedented move, Toyota agent Borneo Motors is opening its workshops to parallel imports, bucking a long-standing practice among authorised agents to shun cars not sold by them. For a registration fee of $550, which can be used to offset servicing cost, owners of parallel-imported Toyotas can make use of two Borneo aftersales facilities in the west. https://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/motoring/toyota-agent-reaches-out-to-parallel-import-buyers Will other ADs do the same?
  8. Hi all, Need your advise on this; I did a servicing recently at a workshop in Ubi area. Decided to check the engine oil about 3-4days later, found that it was dark. Didn't think too much of it until my colleague saw and commented that the color was too dark. Compared his over 10years old car engine oil which was due for servicing, and the colors actually look similar. I contacted the workshop about this, and the boss and worker start telling me that the engine oil color is normal. They specifically say that only a clean/overhaul engine will have clean engine oil... It actually sounds bulls**tty to me, but I need advise on this. You can see the attached image of the engine oil, 4 days after servicing. Is this normal? Should I go and get them to change again? Engine oil is Xado, and I opt for the more expensive oil as it was suppose to be better. Car is Mazda 3 2014, bought in August 2015, last servicing done about 15k before this one. Image of engine oil attached. Note that this is at least after wipe-place in-wipe again checks. Thanks for reading
  9. Hi hope the experts here can advise. What is the procedure if want to send car to 3rd party for servicing? 1. Do I just tell them I want to do xx000km servicing then they know what to check? 2. Or I have to specifically tell them what are the parts I want them to check? 3. This also means the technician probably may not know how to service/check my car if is not the common vezel qasqhai type? 4. If they find a part defected, doesn't mean they have the suitable spare parts and I may waste time having to make another trip to buy for them to replace? 5. Worse they may not even know how to replace the spare parts?
  10. https://www.cccs.gov.sg/media-and-publications/media-releases/major-car-dealers-amend-warranty-terms are you using independent workshops for servicing your car within warranty period, instead of going back to agent workshop ?

  16. Any recommendation for servicing a vintage 60s omega watch?
  17. is it common practice for car agents to cover up the car camera during servicing and oil change? What's there to hide, unless they have something to hide - eg. mishandling of car, driving recklessly within the premise, certain parts never change or check, mechanics taking a nap in the car with air con turned on, taking the car out to buy lunch etc.

  21. I was considering buying VW........ The sales people tell me if my new VW headlight is conventional light, I cannot change to LED, the workshop will replace parts exactly in accordance to the specs i first bought the car, zero modifications will be done. Go outside change, void warranty. And worst, sales ppl tell me VW parts are NOT sold to outside worshop. This means after warranty, we must continue to go back to AD, very inconvenient & expensive. Like that I scared buy VW. Is servicing an issue for VW? Quite few VW renew coe.
