  2. Does anyone know whether SA can fix up my hazard lights so that when reverse gear is engaged or doors are opened, it will come on? How much will it be? Is it difficult to do? If SA can't do it, which workshop can do it and for how much? Will it also void my warranty? Thanks

  7. How can I set up ICE for Kangoo at a budget of less than $1K? I don't expect high end quality but hope to be very best as possible. Currently have a stock HU. Renault kangoo got a external display interface (EDI) and the remote controller attached to the steering wheel. Any advice from any expert??
  8. I intend to upgrade the ICE for my new car with the following configuration: 1. 1 x JBL 4-channel amplifier CS50.4 2. 2 sets of JBL component speakers CTO-6506C 3. Bazooka bass tube 4. 10. Hi folks, Next task to upgrade brakes. As some know, I have a unknown model of brake caliper, some time back tried to install EG8 pads, Prelude pads (old and new), EK pads ... and all failed. They just couldn't fit in. And the difference is like 1mm over or below the clip. Recently, started to have screeching sound too. Changed to Brembo rotors (EK), and is still very very new. I am toying with the idea of changing the whole setup sticking with the EK rotors, but what can I do about the calipers, pads and brake arms? Is it necessary to upgrade the brake pump as well? Is this the best option since I can't find a suitable pad that can fit into the current caliper? What's the budget like for a full "makeover"? Thanks, Ed
  11. Hi, I am new here and would like to get a new audio system for my car a Toyota Vios. Any recommendations? I really know nuts and dun want to jump into it. Thanks

  13. 14. Hi, I'm a newbie to ICE and needs some advice. I've gotten the following ICE from a friend: - Marcom 4ch x 40w amps - Macrom component speakers. What is the best way to install them to my current car? Existing set is Clarion HU (45wx4peak, 17w RMS) w/ speakers front and rear. Should I install the Comps in front and drive all speakers with the amps? (Keeping the stock rear speakers for now). Or should I bridge the amp and drive just the front comps and drive the rears with the HU? Also, the comps speakers comes with passive x-overs. But on the amps there is also a "active x-over". How do I use the amps' x-over? Or do I just put it to "off mode" and use the x-over that comes with the comp speakers? Any advice appreciated... Thanks!
  15. Hi All, I am interested in changing my stock audio setup. My stock setup includes 2 tweeters, 2 front spkers (?"), 2 rear speakers (4"). Saw that the rear speakers are from "Boss Audio". HU is Blaupunkt Dakota CD31 and a 5 Disc In-dash changer. Any advice of what to change? I am interested to change to DAB52. (want to use the MP3 function) Was advice to add an amp and a woofer/bass tube, change the front spkrs. Rear spkrs because of the limited space, only can use 4"...so no point to change - this is what I was told. True?? I need some help and recommendation on the brand of amp, woofer and speakers. Thanks. I saw the Velocity woofer unit...looks not bad.
  16. Hi Guys, Can anyone suggest a good set up for a Mazda 6. Without change of HU. Just amps, speakers and sw thanks
  17. Hi, i'm an newbie in ICE and that's also why i don't want to spend too much. While i have also followed the threads to build up knowledge i guess the best way would be to ask the gurus here what is a possible setup/workshop i can employ given my needs. Here goes: Existing setup: Driving an FLG9 -comes with factory speakers(dun know wat brand) never open up. -Sony Xplod cassette/tuner dun know wat series but looks pretty cool. 4 x 50W. -Xplod cd changer If possible, i like to keep the sony products above and change/add the following: speakers - brand & cost? - prefer sentimental/occasionally trance music Amplifier(is 1 enuff) - same preference. Possibly english amps as they are known to produce "warmer" sound? Subwoofer - brand & cost? No need those boomy type but a relatively good one. Thanks for any recommendations and places to get them...
  18. I am considering the Dynaudio 7" components with softdome tweeters. Understand that they have different passive crossovers, 240, 250 and 280. and passive crossovers play a big role in Dynaudio. If i were to run the Dynaudio components in active thru an Audio Control 6XS, to do the task of Active crossover, how will it sound? Anyone done this or heard a setup like this? Any comments appreciated Thanks
  19. juz bought a car(Mazda Astina) without component speakers and HU, basically the car is without any sound system at all coz previous owner take away his sound system. Now i need to get a HU, component speakers and blah blah blah but i know nuts about sound system. However, i have set aside $500 to $1K for a simple ICE setup. Thinking of going to SLS to get the stuffs needed ( HU and etc) but scare kena chop carrot head. So i need the experts here to recommend a simple setup(pls include the price of HU and component) so that i can buy the stuff and go to my friend shop in JB to fix up everything. tks in advance.
  20. To all ICE gurus, have a little question here hope can get some comments/views on the possible options: HU: Pioneer 50W x 4 Front: CDT CL-61 Rear: JBL 6x9 Amp: VDO PA4600 (4 ch) MTX 8" Basstube Am thinking of the following options: 1) VDO amp to drive front and bridge 2 ch to drive basstube. HU to power the rear. 2) VDO to drive all speakers and get another 2ch amp to drive basstube. 3) VDO to drive fronts & basstube, get a smaller 2ch amp to drive rear. So... which is better? Please give your opinions freely, thanks.

  22. Account from a RWD Brick owner: Pads are temperature specific. There is no miracle compound yet that I know of that will be exceptional at the initial bite and still not fade after ten stops from 100 mph. You get a range. Be realistic when plugging your driving style into the ranges. Do you really do occasional track outings or would you just like to? If you do, compromise a bit towards a higher temp pad. I have never seen a Volvo specific comparison test. I did see a VW comparison test, and I called the shop that did it. Ferrodo came out on top. The guy I spoke to said he had a Volvo 740T and tried the Ferrodo, but found them no better than stock. He said compounds are varied from car to car/application. What worked for the 2500 lb VW with 10 inch rotors did not work so well for the 3000 lb Volvo with 11 inch rotors. I have used Repco/PBR/Axxis Deluxe and Metal Master on both 240 and 740. I prefer the feel of the Deluxe in daily driving. I have used KVR Carbon/fiber on both 240 and 740. They feel slightly better than the Metal Master. I have never experienced fade with any of these pads, in the daily driving that I do. I admit that I have never found myself in a situation where I have had to brake from 100 to 60 six times within two minutes. I just don't drive like that. I have done it with all these pads once on many occasions, without experiencing any fade. I will probably continue to experiment with pads. I have used stock and KVR cross drilled Brembo rotors. I did not notice any difference. I continue to use the KVR rotors. I have not warped or cracked any in years of use on both a 240 and my 740. But I have never raced. I also use braided steel brake hoses. I have noticed no difference using them. My stock hoses were in good shape and were not balooning much. I will continue to use the braided steel hoses, though. I have used Castrol, Ford, and ATE Super Blue fluid. I have noticed no difference. I'll probably stick with the ATE Super Blue. It is relatively inexpensive for its improved wet AND dry boiling points. I have also changed master cylinders and noticed no difference. Stock to new stock. The only part I have not changed is the power booster (I have replaced check valves). I think some boosters are stronger than others and give that rock hard pedal feel. I prefer to not have as much power assistance so I get a better feel for the brakes, but I do like that instant response from the responsive boosters. For your V8, you might want to experiment a bit. The extra weight in the front could benefit from a slightly more performance oriented pad. Some people have fiddled with brake bias. Apparently wagons had different pressure settings in the rear than sedans, but I am not sure about this. The people who have fiddled have reported good results, but I put this mod in the advanced class as fiddling with bias can be dangerous unless you know what you are doing. You can end up spinning out if the rears lock up too much before the fronts. As for rotors, I have warped both 240 and 740 stock rotors, but they did have a lot of wear to begin with. Good quality is important, but the Brembos are now being made in Brazil and maybe other places and might not be as consistent as they used to be. Still, when I ordered my KVRs about 4 or 5 years ago, I specified Brembos. I have probably close to 100k miles on the rears and 75k miles on the fronts. The rear pads are original KVR; the fronts would have lasted but for the caliper failure.
