  1. I'm not saying there are supernatural forces behind this incident, but it's not improbable. With the cam car travelling in Lane 1 and the lorry travelling on Lane 2, the video starts with the cam car diagonally behind the heavy vehicle on the PIE. As both vehicles manoeuvre around a bend, the cam car promptly overtakes the lorry. This explains the change in perspective throughout the video. As if something had possessed the vehicle, the lorry suddenly skids to the left. The driver counters the skid by turning the wheel to his right. Luckily, no vehicles were between the cam car and the taxi behind it, leaving a vast space open for the lorry to enter. Due to the inertia from the sudden right turn, the back of the vehicle forcefully swings out. The driver then turns his wheel to the left, resulting in the vehicle performing a 180-degree spin, reminiscent of those served by ballerinas at a recital. The vehicle ends up back onto Lane 2. Towards the end, the back of the lorry slams against the front of a moving shipping truck in Lane 3. Honestly, with that kind of stunt, it is definitely a miracle that the lorry driver managed to avoid a potentially fatal collision. Netizens' reactions Several netizens commended the driver for his quick thinking and amazing skills at handling a skidding lorry, while others seemed to speculate possible reasons behind the sudden skid. He was so quick to react too! Judging from the video, it is not certain if the lorry was speeding on that day. Seeing how easily the cam car overtook the vehicle, I would not be that quick to jump on the 'lorry must have been speeding' train. Hopefully, he's alright! ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  2. This Vin Diesel lookalike takes ‘no chill’ to the next level when he gets honked for driving recklessly. In this video, a driver was on his way to work when he meets a short-tempered and illogical Vin Diesel (SG version). The video starts with the cam car driver making a left turn on Circuit Road. He notices a white Honda CRV cutting across the double white lines as he does so. The white vehicle aims for the right lane (aka the one the cam car driver was already on) as it slides across the road like a seal into the ocean. Not wanting to be hit by the CRV, the cam car driver presses his horn to alert the other driver of his presence. This triggers the driver, who has not made it entirely into the lane yet but was ready to throw hands in the middle of the road. After adjusting his car’s position, the bald bold driver gets out of his car and starts one of the shortest confrontations I have ever seen. He glares threateningly at the cam car before waving his hands madly and scolding the driver for honking at him. After 5 seconds, he gets off his high horse and angrily returns to his vehicle. Honestly, I don’t know how some drivers can have such high egos when they are so blatantly in the wrong. Guessing game: How many demerit points does this driver deserve? Firstly, crossing double white lines is not allowed in Singapore. Drivers found guilty will receive a $150 fine and 4 demerit points. Secondly, drivers who fail to give way to oncoming traffic at a controlled or uncontrolled junction will receive a fine of up to $200 and 4 demerit points. Thirdly, drivers who fail to indicate or provide warning signals while driving will receive a fine of up to $150. Fourthly, while the confrontation only lasted about 5 seconds, it is still considered an act of road rage. According to the law, road rage happens when the driver, or passengers, alight from their vehicles to harm each other in a moment of anger. Offenders will receive a fine of up to $5,000 or an imprisonment term of up to 12 months. Lastly, drivers found guilty of careless driving will receive a fine of up to $250 and 6 demerit points. If we add all of these charges together, our burly Vin Diesel might be looking at a fine of up to $900 and 14 demerit points (not inclusive of road rage). 3. While we don’t know what type of influence the driver was under in this accident, it definitely was not a good one. At around 8pm on Saturday (Jan 15), a driver spotted a Volkswagen Jetta driving diagonally in its lane on the AYE. Situated on the right lane, the silver car struggles to maintain its position in the middle of the lane. The vehicle veers slightly to the right now and then, with the driver attempting to correct its direction. Seconds later, disaster strikes as the Jetta veers too far to the right, hitting the road divider of the expressway. The impact of the hit sends the car flying forward, pushing it in the opposite direction. The car flies across 3 lanes and makes its second hit with a large white truck. Both vehicles come to an immediate stop in the middle of the expressway as the cam car drives away. What happened? While there has not been a statement on what happened with the Jetta driver, netizens were quick to offer up their theories. #1: Driver was sleepy The most popular theory was that the driver was too sleepy. Netizens had noted that right before the incident, the car was already constantly veering towards the right of the lane. This could signify that the driver could have been falling asleep at the wheel. Some even shared their personal experiences and anecdotes about driving while being exhausted (which is not something you should do!). #2: Driver was drunk The second theory was that the driver could have been drinking before this incident. Again, netizens related the shaky driving before the incident to the influence of alcohol. They reasoned that there was no way a driver would drive in the first lane if he knew that he was tired beforehand. On the other hand, if one had been drinking, the driver could still take the first lane if he felt fine (despite his judgment being impaired). #3: Driver was distracted The last theory was that the driver could have been distracted by his phone. In this scenario, it would make sense that the Jetta was driving in the first lane as the driver was physically okay. He could have been answering a call or texting – something that some of us are guilty of doing when we are on the expressway. While we don’t know for sure which of these theories are true, the fact is that a driver should not be on the road if he is exhausted or has been drinking. 4. An overconfident motorcyclist attempts to enter a corner at a low angle and ends up getting his pride (and his bike) hurt. In the early hours of this morning, a driver was travelling along the PIE when he noticed the dangerous stunt. In the video, a motorcyclist appears from the left of the cam car at high speed as both vehicles enter a bend. The rider maintains his speed as he corners the bend at a shallow angle. Maybe he’s trying to be like the MotoGP champion, Valentino Rossi? As the cam car is about to clear the bend, trouble strikes the overconfident rider as he starts to accelerate before the bend ends. The motorcyclist suddenly falls with his bike, which sends him across the road and into the highway guardrail. Luckily, the silver car in front of the cam car manages to stop in time, narrowly missing the rider by an inch. The video ends with the cam car approaching the smashed bike. The rider steps out from the bushes surrounding the guardrail, dusting himself off as he walks to his bike. Another concerned motorcyclist stops and picks up a mobile phone as he makes a quick U-turn to help the rider out. Looks like someone needs to get back to driving school and learn how to properly perform a corner. Riding around bends For those who need it, the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency has a guide on how to safely ride a motorcycle around a bend. Before entering a bend, riders have to judge how sharp the bend is and the speed at which they need to be travelling at in order to ride under control. Here are a few things one must consider when riding through a bend: Netizens’ reactions ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 5. Some would say that he got instant car-ma for disregarding the rules. In a short clip posted on New Year’s Day, an elderly cyclist boldly crosses a traffic junction when the light is still red. The cyclist then gets a nasty surprise when a white Toyota Corolla crashes into his bicycle. Hopefully, the uncle learns his lesson and will heed the traffic rules from now on. Who is at fault if a driver hits a jaywalking pedestrian? According to the Road Traffic Rules, if a pedestrian crosses any place other than a pedestrian crossing, they shall yield the right of way to vehicles. The same applies to mobility vehicle users, PMD riders and cyclists. However, at any controlled crossing, pedestrians have the precedence to free and uninterrupted passage over the crossing by drivers of vehicles approaching the crossing. It should be noted that this only applies when pedestrians are crossing in the same direction as moving traffic. Pedestrians shall not travel in any other direction unless they can do so without interfering with the lawful movement of traffic. Even though the driver has the right of way, personal injury lawyers have noted that the driver may still be held liable for any bodily injury claim from the pedestrian. This includes payment for their present and future medical bills, pain and suffering, mental anguish, and lost wages. If the pedestrian is found guilty of jaywalking, they could be held partially at fault for the accident. However, drivers are considered more at fault in a jaywalking accident if there was an opportunity to avoid the accident and didn’t take it. While it is tricky to ascertain who is at fault here, the cyclist should not have crossed the road on a red light and the driver should have slowed down when entering the junction. This applies even when the light is green for the driver, as one might not be able to react in time if jaywalkers are crossing. Netizens’ reactions That's right! It doesn't matter if you are a pedestrian or a driver, everyone must adhere to the rules. 😤 When you think about it, it really isn't fair for drivers, even when they have the right of way. It's tough being a driver. 😭 Hope the driver didn't injure himself from braking too hard! 😅 ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 6. Is the Volvo really 'suey' or is this just karma hitting him? In this video, a cam car tries to turn into a busy main road along Changi. Situated behind him, a white Volvo follows closely behind. The white vehicle creeps closely behind when the cam car driver enters the main road through a yellow turning box. Due to the heavy traffic condition, the cam car cannot entirely turn out and remains in the box while waiting for the green light. Noticing that there is still space in the box, the Volvo driver enters beside the cam car. As the light turns green, vehicles from all lanes start to accelerate. The cam car turns into the second lane while the Volvo tries to cut to the very first lane. This, however, proves to be a disaster as an oncoming Fuso truck fails to slow down in time and T-bones the Volvo. This shocks the cam car driver, who let out a ‘Woah, woah!’ at the end of the video. Who is at fault here? Before moving off, drivers should check their mirrors and blind spots to ensure that the road is clear. Drivers of heavy goods vehicles must also have additional blind spot mirrors or devices installed to better detect pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and other motorists who are in their blind spots. These blind spots include the sides, rear and front of the vehicle. If the truck driver had been attentive enough, he would have noticed the white Volvo entering the yellow turning box, extending to the lane he was in (aka the second lane). On the other hand, one could argue that the Volvo driver should not have entered and stopped right in the truck’s blind spot. Additionally, his intention was to cut to the first lane when the yellow box only extends from the second to the fourth lane. By entering the box and waiting for traffic to clear up in the first lane, the Volvo driver is equally at fault for causing an obstruction to traffic (which is an offence, according to the Highway Code). If the truck driver had checked his blind spots and the Volvo had turned into the third lane, this accident could have been completely avoided. Netizens’ reactions Some netizens were not impressed with the Volvo driver. This exchange accurately explains the entire situation (including who is at fault). This guy manages to find a silver lining to this unfortunate incident. ========= Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! Simply WhatsApp us ➡️https://bit.ly/3c6JERA
  7. Checking for traffic is always a crucial skill to have as a driver! In this video, the cam car travels alongside a blue Honda Fit in the middle lane of the road. As the Fit drives past a bus stop, the vehicle starts sliding to the left lane without turning on its signal lights. At the same time, an SBS bus was attempting to exit the bus lane and merge into the left lane without checking. Assuming that the vehicles on the left lane would give way, the bus enters the road. Upon noticing that the bus captain was not going to let him pass, the Fit driver started to hit the brakes. As you can guess, the Fit crashes into the side of the bus before coming to a complete stop. This is why you don't zone out during the defensive driving portion of your lessons! Bus priority schemes Several netizens quickly pointed out that the bus driver was wrong to assume that he would be given priority to exit the bus lane when there was no bus priority box printed on the road. According to LTA, Drivers are to stop and give way to buses exiting the bays when they notice this road marking. However, there was no bus priority box marking on the roads in the video. The bus captain should have checked for oncoming traffic before leaving. Netizens' reactions Looks like this bus captain needs to brush up on his driving theory! All jokes aside, this incident has taught us all an important lesson - always perform your safety checks! ========= Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 8. I’m sure there are many people who drive a ‘little’ over the speed limit on expressways, especially if traffic conditions are clear. After all, what's the harm in speeding it up a little? However, this mentality bites us in the butt when unforeseen circumstances occur – such as the sudden appearance of TP officers. These drivers show us why it’s crucial to pay close attention and keep to the speed limit while driving on the expressway. The video starts with the cam car travelling on the PIE along Steven Road. Right behind him, several drivers on the inner lane casually cruise by. Just as the cam car merges into the left lane, the driver notices two groups of TP officers on the left road shoulder of the expressway. The first group of officers attended to a stationary car on the road shoulder, while the second group were parked further down. The sudden appearance of these TP officers startles the drivers on the inner lane, leading them to hit the brakes and slow down to avoid getting fined for speeding. This, however, proves to be futile as the drivers fail to notice a stationary white Mercedes taxi in front of them, resulting in a massive chain collision. It is unclear if the taxi suddenly braked because of the TP officers or whether it was already involved in an accident prior. If only the drivers had paid more attention to the road, they would have saved their vehicles and wallets from an expensive repair job. Netizens’ reactions Yep, if these drivers did nothing wrong and were sticking to the speed limit, they wouldn't be in such a hurry to slow down. 9. A bus driver fails to stay in his lane and swipes the side of a Mitsubishi Eclipse. The video starts with the cam car approaching a traffic junction as he drives down MacPherson road. The driver promptly stops right behind a green SMRT bus in the middle lane. On the right lane, a red Mitsubishi Eclipse patiently waits for the green arrow indicator to light up. As the light turns green, both the bus and Eclipse start to move forward into the junction. The bus then makes its right turn, cutting into the path of the red Eclipse. Upset that he is unable to make his turn, the driver of the car proceeds to spam the horn at the bus, which sounds a lot like a proximity sensor. The bus driver adamantly continues to make the turn, which led to the gigantic vehicle swiping the left side of the Eclipse. The video ends with the red car finally making its turn. Reckless bus drivers Earlier this year, an SBS bus driver almost collided with another driver after making a reckless right turn at Piccadilly Junction. The driver was going through the junction as the traffic light turns amber. Instead of stopping, the bus suddenly makes a right turn, causing the driver to swerve out of the way. While Singapore has seen its fair share of bus drivers driving recklessly, this incident raises an important question. Are our current training routines and regulations sufficient for bus drivers or should there be more implemented? Netizens’ reactions ======== Witnessed an accident? 10. There is finally video footage of the recent accident outside the Parliament House. For those who are unfamiliar with the accident, a Honda Vezel ran the red light and ended up getting T-boned by a BMW. This resulted in the Honda flipping on its side and getting wedged onto the road bollards, which shocked the female passenger in the camcar who witnessed the accident. More than a dozen individuals, including the camcar driver, got out of their vehicles to help. They were seen attempting to lift the Honda to an upright position in an attempt to rescue the victims. The severity of the accident led to the deployment of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). It was reported that 5 individuals were transported to the Singapore General Hospital. According to the Straits Times, the 5 individuals comprised of 2 male drivers aged 51 and 59, and 3 passengers aged between 28 and 61. They were all conscious during the transport to the hospital. 11. While Singaporeans were celebrating Halloween with cute costumes and fancy decorations on the 31st, one man suffered a painful consequence when he decided to cross under the arm of an automated carpark gantry. In this short video, a cam car exits an open-air carpark when he stops to let a pedestrian cross the road. Thinking he could make it, the man hurriedly jogs across and attempts to leave the carpark by going under the automated arm of the carpark gantry. To his dismay, the arm quickly swings down and hits him squarely on the head. Upon witnessing this incident, the cam car driver lets out a loud cackle as he moves forward to exit. The poor pedestrian could be seen rubbing the top of his head as he runs off in embarrassment. Don't try this if you're not Usain Bolt, the fastest man on Earth. Netizens’ reactions While most netizens found the incident rather funny, some found the cam car driver's reaction to being a little too insensitive. It's always sad to lose a couple of braincells, but at least it's nothing serious. -------------------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 12. Luckily, no passengers suffered serious injuries during this accident. Earlier this morning, an GoAhead bus driver and his passengers found themselves in an unfortunate predicament during the morning rush hour. The video starts with a cam car turning into a junction near Loyang Ave towards Tampines Ave 7. The driver notices a green GoAhead bus travelling straight through the junction as the car slowly inches forward. He then stops in the yellow box as he lets the bus pass through the junction. Out of the blue, another bus appears from the right of the cam car and abruptly turns into the junction. The sudden movement causes the second bus to hit the back of the first bus, which results in the exploding of the windows on the first bus. Passengers situated near the windows appear to be in shock as the first bus comes to a complete stop. Pictures of the damage from the accident are posted online as well. What exactly happened? According to an online post, it appears that the driver of the second bus had misjudged the proximity of the other bus in the junction. This explains why he thought it would be possible for his bus to squeeze into the junction. Netizens' reactions I can't imagine what it must have felt like for the window beside you to suddenly shatter into a thousand pieces. It must have been traumatising! 😭 We do hope that everyone on both buses are alright! 😥 Any updates on this accident will be posted on this article. ----------------------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 13. This video is, as the kids say, very 'happening'. For those confused with what had just happened in the video, let me unpack it for you. We start with the camcar (the Volkswagen Roc driver) driving down Yio Chu Kang road. As the black car in front of him starts to speed, the camcar driver revs his engine and chases his 'friend' in a silly speeding game. As both cars speed down the lane, the drivers try their best to avoid crashing into other vehicles. However, to the camcar's dismay, he crashes into a grey car after entering a bend. Luckily for his 'friend', he manages to squeeze past the car before it changes lanes and avoids a collision. The video ends with several pictures of the blue Volkswagen Scirocco after the crash. Who is at fault here? As evident from the footage of the accident, it is safe to say that the Volkswagen Roc is at fault here. After all, it is common knowledge that street racing is illegal in Singapore. According to the Road Traffic Act, individuals found guilty of street racing will face a punishment of a hefty fine, mandatory imprisonment and forfeiture of the vehicle involved. Following the Tanjong Pagar incident earlier this year, the authorities have introduced a series of amendments to the Road Traffic Act. This includes higher fines and longer jail times for individuals found guilty of street racing in Singapore. First-time offenders will face a maximum fine of $5,000 and up to a year in jail. Repeat offenders will be fined up to $10,000 and jailed for up to two years. Netizens' reactions While I'm not an expert at car insurance, I highly doubt that the insurance company would be willing to pay the Roc driver after they find out about his little game of cat and mouse with his 'friend'. Yep, and they look like this: I thought the video was shot from a third person's perspective as well, it took me a while to realise that it was the Volkswagen driver's POV. 😓 -------------------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 14. Only someone as carefree as this cyclist would care about his plastic bags after getting hit by a motorcycle. The video starts with the cam car slowing down at a junction in Jurong West. As his car comes to a stop, he notices a cyclist ignoring the red-light signal and crossing the junction. At the same time, a motorcyclist enters from the right at a high speed. Unable to stop his bike or swerve to avoid him, the motorcyclist knocks over the cyclist and falls to the ground. Unfazed by the accident, the cyclist immediately rises and gathers the grocery bags that had fallen off his bicycle. The motorcyclist gets up soon after and dusts himself off. Weirdly enough, the cyclist's reaction to this accident reminds me of this gif of Jimmy Fallon. I don’t know if I should be shocked or relieved. On the one hand, I'm glad that both parties are not severely hurt, but on the other, what exactly is the cyclist thinking? No matter how empty a road might seem, it is never a good decision to run a red-light signal and assume that the road will stay clear for you. Netizens’ reactions I agree! However, no matter how strict we enforce our regulations, there are always that few individuals who would go above and beyond on the roads just to do things for their own convenience. 😂😂 As much as I hate additional fines, I do think the root of the problem is the fact that most road users think it's okay to jaywalk (or jaycycle) if they do it quickly and with the right timing. Cyclists (and other pedestrians) who insist on crossing these junctions under these circumstances will be found guilty of jaywalking/cycling and be fined up to $1,000 or jailed up to 3 months. -------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 15. A van driver was caught with his mind in the clouds and ends up rear-ending a poor cyclist on the road. Did the driver fall asleep at the wheel or something? The video starts with the Toyota Hiace maintaining a good speed at the first lane of the road as the camcar drives past it. However, the vehicle suddenly starts to veer towards the kerb. . . . . . and charges ahead at full-speed, hitting a cyclist who was cycling on the left of the first lane. The video ends with the van coming to a complete stop after hit, with the accident warranting a few concerned looks from motorists passing by. Who is at fault? Although there is an unspoken rivalry between cyclists and drivers, it is important to note that in most accidents, it is not always the cyclist's fault. While there are some cyclists that clearly break the rules while on the road, in this case, the driver was at fault for not noticing the cyclist earlier. Here are some rules and guidelines from LTA for cycling on the road: Netizens' reactions Most netizens sent their well wishes to the cyclist, while some questioned the driver's intent and actions in the video. It was speculated that the driver could have been distracted by his mobile phone, or that he could have been daydreaming and did not notice the cyclist at all. Nevertheless, it is important for drivers on the road to be alert at all times and to always leave a space of at least 1.5m while overtaking cyclists on the road. -------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 16. A black Toyota Hiace van speeds and tailgates on Lane 1 of the PIE expressway, which results in a nasty chain collision accident as he hits a motorcyclist. Again, another entitled driver who thinks he owns the road? The video starts with the camcar travelling slightly behind the van on Lane 2, as the Toyota Hiace speeds up on its own lane (aka the lane that is only intended for overtaking or for emergency vehicles). It is also important to know that at this point, there is a motorcyclist travelling in front of the van in the same lane. However, the driver of the van fails to notice the motorcyclist as he speeds up and crashes into him. The motorcyclist is flung off of his vehicle and onto the middle lane from the impact of the crash. Due to the van's high speed (it is estimated that he was travelling above 70 km/h), the vehicle is unable to fully stop and ends up smashing the rear end of another white car, crushing the motorcycle in the process. The video ends with the camcar stopping slightly behind the motorcyclist, who is seen wriggling on the floor from his injuries. Are vans allowed to travel in Lane 1? It is a common myth (or belief) that vans are not allowed to travel on the first lane of the expressway, let alone tailgate and speed on it. According to LTA, there are no special restrictions for Light Goods Vehicles in terms of traveling on the expressway. The only thing to take note is that these vehicles should travel between 60km/h to 70km/h and that it is recommended for them to stay in the third or second lane, given that they don't hog traffic. While this does mean that the van can travel on the first lane when necessary, it does not excuse the Toyota Hiace driver's reckless actions. Even though tailgating is not technically illegal, the consequences of a serious accident caused by tailgating could result in the driver's license being suspended, a large fine and demerit points, and even jail time. Netizens' reactions I'm not sure if the van is modified but it is true that drivers are getting more and more daring these days. 😱 Honestly, this sounds like a great idea but I doubt that would stop vans and other commercial vehicles from speeding. 😓 We wish the motorcyclist a speedy recovery (no pun intended) and that the van driver learns his lesson from speeding and tailgating on the expressway. There is no reason for drivers to ever be this reckless while on the road and I sure do hope that he gets his due comeuppance from the TP. ------------ Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 17. Disclaimer: The use of the word 'ruthlessly' in the title refers to the action of the driver running over the stationary rider and not the driver's intention. We do not assume or imply that the driver intended to cause hurt. Last night (Oct 3), a Mercedes C200 driver caused a major accident along Elias Road, resulting in traffic delays. After watching this clip, I was in shock. To think that someone could simply run over another person without even slowing down sends chills down my spine. Furthermore, it was clear that the lights in the junction had just turned red and that other vehicles were slowing down as they entered. Let's break down what happened in this shocking video. The video starts by showing the camcar and other vehicles slowing down and stopping at a traffic junction. The lights had just turned red, except for those who were intending to turn right. On the left, a Deliveroo rider waits patiently for the light as he watches a couple cross the junction. Just as the couple nearly reaches the other end of the road, a speeding Mercedes C200 ploughs down the rider, which sends him flying off his motorcycle. The couple turns around and looks back in horror as they realised what had just happened. A few minutes later, an ambulance arrives on the scene to rush the food delivery rider and the Mercedes driver to the hospital. There were photographs that showed the amount of damage the car had received from the impact. Netizens' reactions While most sent their well wishes to the food delivery rider, many netizens were upset with the careless actions of the Mercedes driver. We send our well wishes to the Deliveroo rider and hope that he will have a speedy recovery! 18. Karma hits a reckless Audi A5 driver in the form of a car crash after causing a long list of various traffic infringements over the course of 5 days. Timeline Here's an official timeline of all of the incidents featured in the video compilation above. 14th September We start off with the driver performing a reckless lane change along the expressway on the 14th. The video shows the Audi zooming in from the left of the camcar, as the driver speeds up and places himself in the middle lane despite the car's presence. 17th September The second incident features the same Audi performing another reckless lane change a few days later. Like the first time, the car zooms in from the motorcyclist's right and dangerously tailgates the car in front of it. The motorcyclist shakes his head in disbelief as the driver quickly drifts into the middle lane. 18th September On the day of the crash, the Audi driver performs a series of reckless driving stunts a few hours before. At 1:05 p.m., the car is seen parked at the side of the road in front of a second vehicle after it had caused an accident. A few minutes later, the driver performs a reckless lane change. The car almost hits the other drivers on the road as it quickly swerves from left to right and back. Finally, at 5:19 p.m., the Audi performs another reckless lane change on the expressway as it zooms past a silver car in the right lane. The car suddenly switches into the middle lane, cutting in front of a large white bus before quickly switching back to the right. However, the A5 driver fails to notice that there is already a parked car in the right lane from an earlier accident. The driver causes a chain collision as he suddenly slows down, hitting the parked car in front of him and causing the silver car behind him to crash as well. Netizens' reactions Honestly, the Audi A5 driver got what he deserved. This just shows that no matter how great your car is, a reckless driver is never a safe driver. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 19. Does this truck driver even have a proper license? There seems to be a high influx of road accidents recently, with a majority of victims being motorcyclists. In this baffling video, a motorcyclist appears to properly form up after noticing the stationary camcar at a traffic junction. Riding in front of a large truck, the biker starts to slow down. To his dismay, the truck behind him fails to brake in time and continues travelling at a high speed. This leads to a series of unfortunate events as the truck hits the motorcyclist, flinging him off his bike before crashing into the stationary camcar. Luckily, the rider manages to avoid his death after the impact as he immediately stands up and throws his hands in a "WTF?" manner. The biker then walks to the front of the road, where the truck supposedly should be. Upon witnessing this shocking accident, other drivers got out of their vehicles to help the motorcyclist and his bike. Truck had a trade plate The video description states that the truck carries a trade plate, which is a temporary number plate for unlicensed vehicles. It is a possibility that the vehicle could be new and have yet to be registered or it's just being brought for testing on the road. An eerily similar incident in Malaysia Many were quick to point out that this accident was eerily similar to one that happened a few days ago in Malaysia. Just like the motorcyclist accident, a tipper truck was unable to stop as it approached a junction filled with stationary vehicles. As a result, a yellow taxi in front of the truck was completely crushed and several other cars were pushed off the road in a serious chain collision. Netizens' reactions Is this just a mere coincidence or is there something more to both of these accidents? -------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 20. After exiting a tunnel with a right-hand bend, a black Toyota mysteriously starts skidding along the SLE towards the TPE expressway. From the footage, it appears that the Toyota driver had plans to filter towards the left. However, the driver suddenly steers right, which led to it having a 'Tokyo Drift' moment before crashing into the road barrier. What is a fishtail skid? A fishtail skid - or fishtailing - occurs when the rear tires of a car lose traction on the road, which causes the vehicle to slide. While fishtailing is common on icy and snowy roads, it can occur in heavy rain when the streets flood. Drivers who drive too fast in less than optimal road conditions can experience skidding easily, which is a cause for concern with the past few rainy days. Possible scenarios The caption of the video has no mention of the leading cause of the accident, but there are a few possible scenarios. Firstly, the driver could have been driving faster than usual as he entered the bend. Paired with the wet and slippery road conditions due to the recent rain, this could explain why he was unable to regain control of the vehicle as it skidded. Secondly, the car could have worn-out tires, which makes it difficult to get a good grip on the road's surface. This, paired with the slippery roads and a high-enough speed, would result in the vehicle being thrown off balance as it swerves to the right. Lastly, the driver could have got a shock when he saw the stationary white vehicle appear around the bend. Throughout the entire video, the white vehicle remains on the road shoulder at the exit of the tunnel, which was a little weird. However, after rewatching it a few times, I also noticed a stationary motorcycle a few metres behind the white vehicle inside the tunnel. Could these two vehicles be connected somehow? Netizens' reactions TBH, I can only attribute this incident as a result of unfortunate circumstances and bad timing. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 21. A 'chiong sua' driver tries his luck to run a red light and ends up t-boning another vehicle. The incident occurred yesterday (July 26) at a junction along Stamford Road. As the cam car stops at the junction, a silver Toyota Corolla Altis rushes past the vehicle on its left after failing to conform to the red light signal. While the driver managed to avoid hitting the two cyclists at the pedestrian crossing, it ends up T-boning a yellow Toyota C-HR. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, a T-bone accident occurs when the front of one vehicle strikes the side of another. Netizens' reactions TBH, while I have never encountered a 'kanchiong' driver before, I think what the Altis driver did was really stupid and reckless. He should have his license suspended for causing a major accident that could have been easily prevented. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 22. A grey Nissan Sylphy attempted to recklessly overtake an oil tanker, which resulted in a chain collision accident along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE). In the video, the oil tanker could be seen travelling on the second middle lane while the grey car (concealed by the tanker) was on the outermost left lane. Within seconds, the bonnet of the grey car could be seen as the driver attempts to shift into the second middle lane, despite being so close to the heavy-duty vehicle. As expected, the grey Sylphy ends up in a T-bone collision with the oil tanker, which then led to the car spinning and colliding with a yellow taxi in the middle lane. The impact of the crash threw the taxi off its lane and into the road divider, which led to a fourth hit as the camcar could not stop in time. The video ends with the grey Nissan hitting the yellow taxi a second time as it flies towards the road divider from the impact of the first hit with the oil tanker. This huge accident led to a closure of three lanes of the expressway and a 3-hour jam during the lunch peak period. Netizens' reactions From the comments, it's clear that what the grey Nissan did was insanely reckless and impulsive. TBH, I have no idea what the driver was thinking. In what scenario would overtaking an oil tanker be a good idea? Why would anyone even do that? Another incident with the same driver A more recent video showed the same grey Nissan Sylphy blocking the road at a petrol station. Despite the blurry footage, the grey car was identified to have the same license plate. According to the camcar driver, he was attempting to leave the petrol station when he saw the vehicle parked in the middle of the road. After repeatedly honking, the driver noticed that the owner of the grey Nissan was actually at the ATM on the right. This inconsiderate behaviour is really infuriating to watch. First, he causes a chain collision on an expressway and now, he's parking his vehicle in the middle of the road for his own convenience? --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 23. A limousine driver was fined $4,500 in court on Thursday (8 July) for punching and kicking another car that was blocking his way at a yellow-box junction. According to Channel News Asia, the incident occurred in May 2019 near Ion Orchard, when the freelance limousine driver urgently needed to go to the toilet while being stuck in a traffic jam. Due to his tight schedule, the driver needed to be at Beach Road in less than half an hour for another job. Wanting to exit from Orchard Turn into Orchard Boulevard, the driver found himself caught in a slow-moving peak hour traffic. There was no way for him to move out as vehicles were stopping inside the yellow-box junction. As the light turned green in his favour, the limousine driver tried to move out but was blocked by the victim, who stopped his vehicle in the yellow-box junction. With the frustration of a full bladder on a packed schedule, the driver got upset at the victim for being ungracious. This led to him throwing a temper tantrum as he alighted his limousine, kicked the front bumper and pounded on the windows and doors of the victim’s vehicle. The victim subsequently sent his car into a workshop and received a full quotation of $7,074.84. However, he only opted for partial repairs, which costs $550. The limousine driver pleaded guilty to one count of mischief, with a secondary charge of intentionally causing alarm. As compensation for the damages he had inflicted, he repaid the victim a total of $3,500. Along with the fine, the total amount that he had to pay resulted in $8,000. While I understand the pent-up stress that one experiences from holding his bladder for 11 hours straight, what the driver did to the victim was in bad taste. Also, wouldn’t raging at someone else take up more time, especially since he desperately needed a toilet then? Netizens’ reactions While the limousine driver got lucky and did not have to serve any time in jail, $8,000 is still a lot to pay for a moment of road rage. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 24. Within the past 24 hours, two unrelated cases of vehicles knocking over cyclists have surfaced on Facebook. The only thing constant in the equation? Both cyclists disregarded the red man and cycled across the road anyway. Both incidents took place yesterday (July 5), with the first one being at Choa Chu Kang and the second one at Sembawang. In the first video, a female driver was driving straight ahead across a road junction along Choa Chu Kang Dr after noticing that the light had turned green. However, she noticed that a cyclist had dashed out as she was accelerating, which led to her hitting the cyclist. Take note: there is loud screaming and graphic content in the following videos. In the second video, a taxi was seen performing a right turn at a road junction in between Sembawang and Mandai Road when it hits a cyclist that was crossing the road at a red light. Despite the roads being busy in both videos, the cyclists thought that they were able to beat the red light and just YOLO-ed their way through. Honestly, if I were them, I would be in constant "ragret" over this one stupid decision. Netizens' reactions It didn't take long for netizens to express their sentiments with regard to both incidents. As for the taxi driver (in the second video), many netizens shared their frustrations with the cyclist for not following the rules. We hope that all parties involved in both accidents are okay and will post any further updates if necessary. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 25. A discretionary right turn goes wrong and ends up in a collision at Yishun Avenue 2. The incident occurred yesterday (June 22) when a white Honda Civic attempted to perform a discretionary right turn at a junction and collided with a black Hyundai Tucson. The video also showed another van swerving around the Honda Civic after the crash to avoid hitting it again. A pedestrian was also seen lying on the ground at the end of the video. However, it was not specified if the black Hyundai Tucson had hit the pedestrian. A discretionary right turn refers to a junction allowing for motorists to make a right turn as long as there is a suitable gap in oncoming traffic. The driver is allowed to decide when to turn right when he or she feels that it is safe to do so without the need for a green arrow. This is not the first time that a vehicle performing a discretionary right turn ends up in a serious traffic accident. In 2018, two high-profile traffic incidents involving vehicles attempting to perform discretionary right turns resulted in the deaths of two people. According to Channel News Asia, the Land Transport Authority announced plans to phase out discretionary right turns in Singapore following the two fatal accidents. By 2023, more than 1,200 junctions will have red-amber-green turning arrows. While the importance of discretionary right turns has been a popular debate topic, it goes without saying that drivers should take extra precaution when performing such manoeuvers. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car.
